  1. Eir

I know this is a necropost. It's been ages since I last looked in here. And again, it's to find news that someone I respected has left us. I'll be pouring one out for Eir and for Deuce tonight. To fallen friends and comrades!
  2. Damn, Duce. It happened a year ago, and I didn't know. I'm sorry. ;( I'm sorry for necroposting this thread too. But I don't care. Duce was one of the best people I met on Wurm. I remember when he joined Kyara, and it wasn't really very long before he became the soul of our little online community. I miss his candor. And I will miss him. I wish I had a chance to say goodbye.
  3. HotS was never dead. Just...beaten back for awhile. Good luck.
  4. While a lot of players find dragons interesting, there is a sizable group who think they're a bit overpowered, etc. And are glad that dragons are extinct.
  5. You don't seem to have a #5. Just thought you should know.
  6. This opens the door to some (minimal) exploiting. I am dubious as to whether this will have any real impact in the long run, however. I guess you'll have to see if it helps you out on Freedom. I don't think it will change anything at all on Wild.
  7. There is hardly a more appropriate thread for such things.
  8. Artifacts

This is the problem: Someone felt that it wasn't fair that one group had all the Artifacts, so they came up with a plausible suggestion regarding it, the problem that they live in chests and never come out. This is because they're not altogether useful, with the exception of one, maybe two. The main issue, as I see it, is that putting them on timers does absolutely nothing to solve any of the claimed problems. People won't use them now, they aren't even going to bother with them that much. Because the effort involved doesn't justify any payout, especially when it only lasts a month and then resets. The current 'solution' has done nothing to solve the alleged problem with the artifacts; what it has done has served to essentially deprive one group of something they worked hard to earn by changing the game rules. My prediction: This change will be undone, but only after the possession of the artifacts has been redistributed to certain other people.
  9. The champion system as previously incarnated wasn't all that incredibly bad. The problem with the new one is it doesn't actually do anything whatsoever to improve gameplay or solve any problems, it just changes an arbitrary excess of champions from X to Zero. here's the system I suggest: -Make minimum criteria to be a champion harder -place a per-server cap on champions, diety is not relevant. -A person can take champion status sort of like affinities; assuming the person doing the killing is qualified to become a champion also, they recieve the option of 'stealing' champion status upon killing a champion. -Give major but temporary bonuses to champions for killing enemies. This will keep the number of champions down, with a sensible system that also encourages PVP, to a large degree. At least with this system you won't be worried about whatever arbitrary number of champions is 'too many'. You know in any given MMORPG, you're just not going to be able to keep magic 'rare' if its available. Its not really doable- its not a matter of game mechanics its human nature. Unless you do something crazy like how you became a Jedi in the /original/ Star Wars Galaxies, or arbitrarily limit things like you did here (which is unwise, and also downright offensive to players that worked hard to become champions). Really, especially when you're dealing with playing customers, it would be a pretty stupid business decision to do something like that again ("I'm de-champing every champion in the game.") There are that many champions because there are that many players that worked hard to do it! In Wurm, if you want to limit something, just make it harder, don't put caps on things. That's how it works in Wurm; you made the game, you ought to know that.
  10. R.I.P Aab

Ave Atque Vale... The world is a hard place. I can't imagine it. It takes a lot of pain for someone to go that far. I'm so sorry for all his friends and family; I know what you're going through. I wish I could tell you how to make sense of it... Just try to take it a day at a time.
  11. Given that its now clear it doesn't replace Wild, I'm feeling okay about this myself. I hope the server does well, in fact. But the game is gonna need LOTS more players ^^
  12. The way it looks

Upsetting for home players, maybe. But this is a compromise that will probably satisfy the most people i think, of the old player base and give the new player base all they want.
  13. Though there is a concern about the number of servers, I echo your sentiment, waffles. I don't mind there existing an epic server, per se. I just would not under any circumstances wish for it to replace my beloved wild server.
