  1. Wow! Look at those horns, I bet you could fletch some serious arrows from this thing's blood! Because, y'know, spikes. Riders are asked to bring a horned mount, to match this beast's own! The mosh pit is at Bruce's Flying Circus, N13, at this time: /Servertime: Sat Dec 03 21:00:00 CET 2022 discord time code: <t:1670097600:F>
  2. Event went smoothly! Thanks all for coming
  3. An elephant simply cannot be mistaken for a large mouse. As the size of an animal changes, so too do the circumstances it is under. An Ant has no veins - it can simply diffuse oxygen through its cells. A bigger creature cannot do this - diffusion cannot get enough oxygen to so many cells, so lungs to bring in that oxygen and veins to carry it become required. Bones too must vary: if a creature were to be ten times as big as us, it would typically also be ten times as wide, ten times as thick. This makes the weight a thousand times more! Given our own bones break under a force ten times out weight, a massive increase in bone thickness would be required for any cross-section of the bone to sustain this mass! To accomplish this, a creature may have shorter, thicker legs - so each pound of mass has about the same area of bone to support it like a rhino, or it can compress its body and stretch its legs like a giraffe. Enter, the Forest Giant It has done neither of these adaptions to its mammoth size. It hasn't even gone on all fours, so that the weight might be distributed among more bones. That this creature does not break its legs as it walks is some sorcery, for it cannot be explained within physics nor biology. And for this sorcery, it must die. Get some LW potions to fashion your own skin clothing! And maybe take home a bone! Everyone knows skeletons are the spookiest! 8. My truest hope for these maps is that there's the ability to cover tiny areas, so even a good old 11x11 deed with 5 tiles perimeter (21x21) can have a map for visiting tourists
  9. Lyon Leblanc's Lavish Limitless Lemon Lair has been located! Leer at his lustrous little lemon lodge, landed near the ledge of a large alp! We shall, in league, liquidate Lyon Leblanc and his lemons into luscious lemonade! A big thank you to Aliko for getting in touch and donating this unique for public consumption! 10. Ah, 2019, a simpler time when rumours of uniques flew openly, and those loose lips didn't even sink ships. Or did they? Back in 2019 and before, those messages were the klaxon horn of action to those involved in uniques. The alarm sounded, and off you went to find the thing! But given the availability of those announcements, well, everyone with an eye to uniques was soon arriving. Oh yeah, you thought it's bad now? Try finding it when every team is there looking too. Quite infamously one player (not calling you out babe) almost single-handedly was netting a crazy amount of uniques on every server using these alerts. Nowadays searching other servers is a dodgy prospect - there's good odds you're going somewhere that doesn't even have a unique and coming home empty handed. This serves to make uniques much more of a surprise that newer players can run across, than something that every unique group will act to lock down as soon as possible. I'd honestly be surprised to be able to do public slayings on other servers following this change - doubtless nowhere near the number of people shocked to discover they've been followed by a dragon trying to take their newbie cart around. In regards to the talk of cheating, even if we take the claims that cheating is rampant at face value, returning to this simply tells the cheaters which server to check, because they'd be faster than legit players. They're going to get more of them with this! Worst of all was that these alerts served to create a time of maximum toxicity. Everyone scurrying for this one goal that isn't going to be shared? You know that's going to concentrate and amplify the toxicity that already exists. The number of disputed uniques would doubtless shoot up, and the GMs really don't want that. tl;dr if I was looking to go private and efficiently secure as many uniques as possible with no regards to toxicity, this is exactly the system I'd want back cancel cultured with facts and logic
  11. if it helps there is only one unique in the mine
  12. I thought that black hatchlings were the only dragon that could throw people I thought wrong and for its many crimes (including turning our mine into a massive mess) it must die This fleshy one-eyed dragon must fall Slaying will be Sun Sep 11 21:00:00 CEST 2022 servertime, at Bruce's Flying Circus N13 Release This timer should help: Bonus feature: paste this code into your discord server/pms to get a time that automatically updates to the time zone of the person viewing the message <t:1662922800:f> brought to you by: this made so much more sense in my head
  13. Man, Lagston. When I first passed his modestly sized deed (to those who know the deed, I am not employing hyperbole, it was modestly sized once!) Lagville, I had the slight mix of fear and hope in my stomach that he had every intent to actually create an area that caused modest lag to be near! Such thankfully did not pass, and his deed expanded over a frequent route of mine that I travel probably more than daily. He kept the route clear and easy while maintaining his vision for the deed, which I was thankful for. And despite how frequently I travelled through, every time I did so - even when I thought I had chosen a time that would evade his gaze - he waved as I passed. o/
  14. First up I want to thank those who say that if you find a dragon, message Stan. It's a fun thing, and I'm glad to be kind of reliable there. Wildelf did reach out to me, and I failed them, so here's a quick dissection of how: Issue 1: Xanadu My team has largely stopped doing support for full public slayings on Xanadu. The travel time is monstrously long and the dirt table fights all efforts to pen the things. Anyone doing slayings on Xanadu can try and prompt me, but unless we have a reason we're very likely to pass. My last slaying on Xanadu - the Super Double Dragon slaying - was initially rejected until I got another PM of another dragon in the same area. Then I knew we had to. When people do contact me about uniques, before I ask any information about the uniques or their location I ask them to familiarize themselves with the The Hunters Guide of Proper Unique Creature Hunting Etiquette ¹. This is so they can be sure that they've done what they need to, and reassure them that I cannot legally take the unique from them when they do tell me - it's for everyone's protection. Following being told it's on Xanadu, I typically recommend and guide people on the "ad-hoc slaying" method, as I did here. So there's still some value to contacting me if you find one on Xan (I might recommend a butcher or something). Issue 2: Disagreements on how to run it Even if it weren't Xanadu, my methods of hosting it is almost always the same; a public slaying with at least 2 days delay between posting and killing, where everyone has an equal shot at the loot (even finders and organizers). Sometimes I go for ad-hoc if it's getting late and I don't foresee a successful pen. Occasionally I will see to it that the skull or something (never the bone) is handed off to the finder, but I don't let my parameters for that be known and it is solely those parameters that decides - it isn't up for negotiation and I am more than willing to allow the finder to organize it themselves if they disagree. For the finders I also offer a say in when the slaying is so that they can make it, and a spot in the rolls even if it turns out they can't make it. In this case, Wildelf did not want a large number of people present - meaning no full public slaying. Seeing that this was outside of what I do for two reasons now, I helped guide them through how to organize an ad-hoc. This was not acceptable to them either. Looking back, this was the point where I should have wished them luck and left them to it. But I wanted to see it through. Lacking better options, I got in touch with a private slayer who I could trust not to take the loot from them (not that they legally could), but they were unable to rally enough people either. Unable to further get in contact with Wildelf (they had logged by this point, it seemed), and with no options I could see, I went to sleep and woke up with irate messages. I don't quite know what else I expected to happen, going to sleep with it half-sorted and not summarized, but I lacked any idea of what else I even could do and had places to be the next day. I could not spend any more time on it, and at this point perhaps spent more time on it than I should have. ¹ In this case I skipped my usual "doubly mentioning the steps to claim" - they mentioned to me (and in the OP) that they were woodcutting in the area, though it may have been bushes which will have made it difficult for the other party to spot. The rules mention chopping a tree, but given how the GMs verify a claim I don't think the tree/bush distinction is what those rules are for. The rules make no mention of losing the claim if you go offline, but I suspect that to be an issue needing clarification rather than a sensible handling of those rules. It mentions losing the claim if you leave the area, but that's under "containment protocols" and there was no attempt to contain. It does seem to follow that a player must be online to contest the claim unless the claim is covered by the protections of proper containment. tl;dr that green dragon hatchling is still out there
  15. Today's topic: the humble water skin Often mocked for its small water capacity to weight ratio (clocking in at .25kg to hold 2.5kg water), I'm here to tell you that actually, that water skin there? That you see, poised between my altars and a small chest? It's massive Think otherwise? Try your hand at this handy-dandy quiz I made in a couple of minutes! https://take.quiz-maker.com/QJA24Z3EN The fact is they're just way too big! My suggestions involve either: 1. Making them flexible like pelts have been made, so they fit in other containers - even when they have water inside! What a unique utility that'd be 2. At least halving their y and z size, and quadrupling their x size or any other size changes that retain their perfect 2.5kg capacity. This would bring them at least slightly more in line with their model (please make this apply to all existing ones, I now have a blessed water skin to think about, yes that's why I've made this post - the thing won't fit in my backpack!).

  18. Credit to BBC Good Food for this recipe. Ingredients 4 tbsp vegetable oil 25g butter 4 onions, roughly chopped 6 tbsp chicken tikka masala paste (use shop-bought or make your own – see recipe, below) 2 red peppers, deseeded and cut into chunks 8 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 2.5cm cubes 2 x 400g cans chopped tomatoes 4 tbsp tomato purée 2-3 tbsp mango chutney 150ml double cream 150ml natural yogurt chopped coriander leaves, to serve MAKING YOUR OWN CURRY PASTE In a small food processor, whizz together 5 garlic cloves, 1 large knob of ginger, roughly chopped, 1 red chilli, deseeded and roughly chopped, 2 tsp each ground cumin and coriander, 1 tsp each turmeric, paprika and garam masala, and the seeds from 4 cardamom pods. Add a little water or vegetable oil to bring the paste together. Will keep in the fridge for up to one week or frozen for up to one month. STEP 1 Heat the vegetable oil and butter in a large, lidded casserole on the hob, then add the onions and a pinch of salt. Cook for 15-20 mins until soft and golden. STEP 2 Add the tikka masala paste and peppers, then cook for 5 mins more to cook out the rawness of the spices. STEP 3 Add the chicken breasts and stir well to coat in the paste. Cook for 2 mins, then tip in the chopped tomatoes, tomato purée and 200ml water. Cover with a lid and gently simmer for 15 mins, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through. STEP 4 Remove the lid, stir through the mango chutney, double cream and natural yogurt, then gently warm through. Season, then set aside whatever you want to freeze. Will keep, in an airtight container, in the freezer for up to three months. Scatter the rest with coriander leaves and serve with basmati rice and naan bread. Come get a serving p.s. if you haven't tried chicken tikka masala, you really should. It's considered a national dish of the UK!
  19. possibly unrelated but worth knowing: if you have a Taunt keybind, be extremely careful as this can cause the horse to aggro you (at least I'm pretty sure that's why I almost chopped my horse in half, I already use TARGET_HOSTILE)
  20. have you considered not doing this? I'm not doing it, and I'm doing maps no problem, I think in part because I'm not doing this
