  1. I will say this about living on a PvP server.... to @Emi's credit... it is correct you don't have to PvP if you join a even a small group.  Just like your alliance(s) on Freedom, there's people that make armor, weapons, tools, enchants and everyone depends on others for their unique skills in some form or fashion.

Both my friends and enemies will tell you I'm not the best PvPer in the world, but I was pretty good at building deeds.  If you've never seen a PvP deed, just know that there's tons of digging, building and mining involved, much more so than a Freedom deed.

Sometimes it is fun watching your enemies try to kick over your sand castle made of concrete, and watching them limp after they stub their toe :P

  2. Why PvE'ers don't PvP?

    1.  Too much griefing.

    2.  Toxic PvP community.

    3.  Obviously, losing everything when you die.

    Why I no longer PvP:

    1.  Continuous PvP mechanic/server changes that completely change the PvP meta.  SoTG nerfs, removal of champions, drastic changes to siege weapons, the "leather meta", as a few examples.

    2.  Botting, account sharing and exploitation that goes unpunished.

    3.  Deed pvp is extinct.

    4. PvP population is spread over too many servers.  Chaos, Epic, Defiance, etc.

  3. Combine NFI and SFI, exactly the way we did when Xanadu linked the "old" and "new" clusters.  Add a new map the size of Xanadu and let the land rush begin.

Speaking as a player that started playing Wurm on the "new cluster" (Pristine, specifically), I did not feel like my skills were suddenly dwarfed by the more experienced players coming from the old cluster once Xanadu linked our maps.  I also remember trying to find a place to put a deed on Xanadu when it first came out, and there were literally settlement tokens every 20-30 tiles going all the way around Xanadu - you COULD NOT find a coastal spot to build a deed.

It is good for the economy, it gives players something new to do, and it shows effort from the staff to revitalize the game... even if that effort is viewed as minimal by some.

I love when people do not read what was typed and immediately reply.

I love it even more when people read what I typed and assume I was talking about something Krister said.   All you have to do is read the first 3 words of my post.... "some of you".... as in, implying I am referring to multiple people.

I stand by my previous statement.  More players for Wurm > more pvp for 10 people.

  5. Some of you are squabbling over petty differences that don't affect the overall health of the game.

PvP?  Sure, lets focus the "Rebrand" on appeasing 10% of the player base.

A new tutorial... how is this going to help bring in new players if no one knows about Wurm?

In-game purchases.... fantastic!  Of course their first priority is to figure out how to get players to spend more money.

"What you need, when you need it".  Sounds like we'll have a handy little button to press to spend money and make bricks and mortar magically appear.  While some people might like the appeal of the addition of such instant gratification to the game, I'm convinced it's going to destroy the fabric of the in-game economy.  Many players pride themselves on "making a living" in game by paying for their deeds, items, premium etc by chipping bricks or performing other "jobs" for other players.  With all the complaints I've heard about "100 people selling and 1 person buying", a "marketplace" would be a giant leap in the wrong direction.

  6. Ships should have interchangeable parts that can be removed, improved and replaced.  Think of it like horseshoes and a saddle on a boat.

    Sails-

    1.  Improved with cloth tailoring, these give a speed bonus of x% per y quality (TBD).

    2.  Can be enchanted with WoA for a slightly larger speed bonus.

    3.  Dying the removable sail allows you to change the color of your sails when you want.  (As opposed to dye being a 1 time use).

    4.  (Dream change) option for PMK sail graphics

    Rudder-

Improved with ropemaking (same tools for net traps), these grant both a slight speed bonus and improved navigation (cornering)

    Oars -

Improved with shipbuilding, these dramatically increase speed when traveling INTO the wind.  (10 kph instead of.... 3....)

Does the number of servers itself matter? You could copypaste all southern islands that aren't Xanadu (including Chaos) into a single map the size of Xanadu and still have three small servers worth of extra ocean. Now you'd have two servers, and more travel difficulty, (and no PvP I guess,) but it wouldn't really make a difference otherwise.

No, it doesn't matter.  Give us a new South Freedom map or two to settle on that doesn't require making a new character.

Increase shield skill gain as well as fight skill gain. the gain is very low and for use with a smaller weapon even the hit rate decreases. the skill gain is very low that when you just hit the defense.

example today. [01:15:25] Medium metal shield increased by 0,0049 to 9,6862.

Stop training on rats and upgrade to a goblin.  Or a cave bug.  You should be training your skill based on difficulty, and for shields it is VERY similar to the skill you need in animal taming (example:  40 skill for a champion mountain lion).  Unless the devs changed it in the last couple years, the harder they hit, the more skill gain you get.

  9. I would happily build a new deed on a new server if I could use my same character.  But as much as I agree that there shouldn't be 10 different servers to build on, there are people that play the game that will move away before they'll live "near" someone in 5 locals.

you can have a career there as a new player.

To what end?  There's no reason to hoarde gold now.... you can't sell it thanks to the removal of RMT.

Take shipbuilding for example.  You should spend time building boats because you like doing it, not because you think you're going to make 40s selling a knarr or whatever on the new cluster.  Compare that to the what.... 6s you get on the old cluster?

But guess what.... the 6s on the old cluster buys you about the same thing on the new cluster for 40s.  Wait til people start selling drake sets and rift mats, you will see.

  11. Greed at this stage of the game is.... dumb.  Other than being able to finance your deed's upkeep or prem for years to come, there is no benefit to stockpiling gold now that RMT is gone.

The decision to remove RMT was a smart one, because the players that hoard gold were among the most cancerous of the player base.

  12. Because after the first idiot that tries to solo a rift with 10 FS is going to complain "waaaaaah, it's too hard", and cry for rift nerfts.

You aren't playing NFI for journal entries, you're playing NFI because you like to live in the nostalgia of a server with more than 10 people online.

While I agree there should be rifts, and I agree there should be a clear roadmap (now, not "when they feel like it), from a business perspective, it makes 100% sense to sit back, make money and continue spouting the "coming soon" nonsense.

Keep paying your subs like good little boys and girls, just let it happen.

  13. You sound like you think sleep powder is the driving force behind some players passing others in skill.  I promise you, that isn't the case.  The difference is playtime.

Take Eve for example.  You can spend 18 hours a day mining, blowing up other people's stuff, playing the market, etc.... whatever YOU want to do, and you will gain X amount of skill over time because you clicked one button when you logged on. Alternately, I can log in Eve for 30 seconds, click a button and log off... and the next day when I log in, I have as much skill as you.

Wurm on the other hand encourages ACTIVITY, not just paying for prem, sub, VIP or whatever your game of choice chooses to call it.  You play for 18 hours a day, you gain 18 hours worth of skill (assuming you're grinding optimally).

Your sleep powder argument lacks merit due to the fact that it only works in tandem with "no-lifing" the game.  I did it for 6 years, and I just can't bring myself to do it again from the beginning.  Does that make you a better player than me because you bought 23450938079826 sleep powder and and made it disappear like rum cake in an AA convention?  No, it doesn't.

Sleep powder is not an instant gratification item.  You don't simply eat sleep powder and BOOM you have 90 weapon smithing.  (As opposed to a skill injector in Eve, parallel to my previously mentioned comparison).  Sleep powder requires effort (ACTIVITY) in order to maximize its benefit.

If you are pro linking faith please post here explaining why, as far as I can see I dont see any valid reason for the change unless there is some bug people are abusing that cant be fixed a better way.

Well, there's a few minor points, but they certainly don't outweigh how BL kingdom members are pigeon-holed into being Libila, even as a follower...

    1.  Linking increases the difficulty of spells.  This gives us a little bit of a sliding scale of difficulty for channeling spells with certain difficulties, kinda like optimizing your pickaxe QL for mining copper, lead, gold etc at various skill levels.

    2.  Again... a *minor* advantage here.... since your skills transfer and your diety wouldnt, would allow easier channeling grinding with a broader selection of spells to choose from to skill.

As for the necessity of being a priest for PvP, I disagree.  That is the dev's choice (negligence seems a more appropriate word) to continue validating the necessity by a continued lack of balance and fixing what isn't broken.
