  1. Cool in theory, but only a small percentage of the wurm population would even be possible of achieving this. Why make an update that benefits a select few hardcore grinders when dev hours can be put into something that benefits the community as a whole.

Now if it was anywhere from 70 to 90, it would be a little more understandable

  2. Looks good, but there definitely some things that should be considered ahead of time to stop abuse. I'll make a list of what I can think of off the top of my head.

    1. A way to verify items are what they say they are. With the item renaming ability in the marks shop, people could change what the items name really is.
    2. Somehow cap on items per char in the market. We don't need RareSpammerJoeSchmoe putting his 35 rare pickaxe heads in the market at once. We also don't need PricesBlockheadBob buying out entire market of an item to reset the market and relisting them all to put a barrier to entry on newer players from entering the market.
    3. New Rules considered around malicious behavior/abuse on the AH. Scam pricing, named item abuse, listing random crap that clog up list(like advertise their services/market), using as storage, etc.
    4. Make the feature restricted to premium players. I shouldnt have to explain how people can spam free to play alts to list pages and pages of items.

Many here have suggested that one could not sell items that are not worthy of auction. Such as a smith selling tools. The fees are currently planned to be 3c a day (you select a duration of the listing when making it) and 5% of the sell price. My hope is that pricing leaves space for mid tier items. However it is designed to reduce spam. We don't currently plan to be limiting auctions to x per player. That reduces utility for merchants and alts easily bypass it anyway. Containers will be allowed to group lower price items into something that is worth the fees.

Thanks for clarifying this, it makes me feel better knowing that it will be used for mid to high end items. As of now I support this feature, just slightly concerned with the aspect of people posting 100's of items from rare creation spam, but we'll see.

Leaving a deed doesn't mean visiting and standing around marketplaces looking at the same stuff for 6th time this week, there's plenty of other reason why one would like to leave a deed and as many other reasons why someone would wanna stay at their deed they are paying for and be productive. Nothing to do with trading

I never did say it was about trading, you're looking to much into it. This is just another thing that will further encourage never leaving deed behavior, and every little change that encourages it makes the overall situation worse. The amount of people I've met in game during my travels all across Wurm who never leave deed, couldn't find the starting town if they tried is ridiculously high. Anything that will reinforce or further encourage that behavior is the opposite of what wurm should aim for. I remember back in to mid 2010's you would see people all over, traveling, shopping at merchants and such, now you're lucky if your neighbor just out of local happens to pop up in your local. As of right now, the game feel like a single player experience and its slowly killing my interest in wurm to point I want to walk away permanently.

Imagine traveling for 2 hours to the biggest market. Seeing 1 or 2 people in local and throwing one of these "o/" only for them to be afk. Get to the market and spending another 2 hours sorting through the random wares people throw in their merchants looking to upgrade your tools. Leaving home with a 50ql 70CoC hammer cause there's nothing there but overpriced gems and holiday items.

    10/10 experience

Clearly you're going to the wrong markets, and unless you live on Xanalag, it shouldn't take you 2 hours to get to a market. It's fine if you don't like ever leaving deed and want everything at your fingertips on deed, but don't make the experience for everyone else less because of your preference.

  6. I'm fine with the idea of it being used to replace forum auctions, what I'm not ok with is it being a replica of wow auction house or osrs G.E. Those lead to market manipulation, prices crashes and lots of other abuse. Not to mention will completely put player markets out of commission, when why bother leaving deed and exploring your way to a market when a mailbox UI will get you everything. Besides people who regularly explore, I rarely meet new people unless I come across them on their deeds. We dont need more incentives for people to just hold themselves up on deed and never leave.

i never said that i didnt leave my deed in fact you will see from my comment i did mention working on my deed OR doing something more interesting... this includes hunting traveling around to touristy other peoples works occassionally joining an event or just visiting with neighbors or people in chat. to be honest i really dont ever see you anywhere else but the deed you are associated with on Independence and when ever my toons sail by and see you online i typically shout out to you. However when it comes to interacting with others for purposes of trade sometimes it takes 3-4 days to find someone online that has what i want and has the time to either wait for me to come get it or to send it to me via mail or wagoneer. i make regular stops at several marketplaces all the time and as several merchants can attest too i have reached out by forums or in chat to attain things i want. I am a regular patron of Sandwitch Bootique on Indepence and have spent lots of silver there purchasing things i need to work with as well as special orders for various things. I even have several merchants of my own  although i hardly see anything in sales for them.

Just dont think that everyone else sits at home and is a homebody i simply do not agree with that seeing as many people i have met traveling around the servers or waved at as our ships pass through the same local.

I think you have me confused with someone else, I live on Pristine. I'm constantly riding around the server, meeting new people and making friends. I also regularly sail to other markets on every server except inland xanadu. I had been meaning to swing by your place next time I was on Independence. I wasn't calling you out specifically, but the introduction of such an auction house will further encourage the hermit/never leave deed mentality that this community suffers from.

Many times i have been forced to travel to 10-20 different merchant camps only to find skiller items for endgame or not the item i was seeking and wasting huge amounts of time traveling that i could have spent working on my deed or doing something more interesting.

That's exactly the attitude that kills a lot of ingame social interaction. People refusing to leave deed and go out and explore. This only further encourages that behavior as why would you leave deed at all now when you can walk 10 or less tiles to the nearest mailbox on deed and open up an antisocial UI to buy whatever? Trade chat has existed and is fairly reliable in buying most commonly needed items at decent prices, but this will cut out that oh so dreaded message to another player. Not to mention this promotes a system rife with abuse potential that the devs will never realize is an issue until it's too late.

  9. -1 on in game auction house. It will kill some social aspects of trading as it has when it was added to other games like OSRS. The system now isn't broken, so why change it. It has so much potential for abuse as well when you realize how much the current market is commonly manipulated by a very small minority of players. When it is a disaster a few months after release, I'll be there to say I told you so.

Sfi is great for people who don't mind swiping the credit card. With rares dirt and enchants being cheap you can get a nice deed set up with fully kitted and rare gear without taking out a second mortgage.

Tell me you've never played SFI without saying it. You dont need to swipe the credit card for anything. I know plenty of players who never pay for prem with IRL money. If anything NFI you need to swipe because the prices are absolutely ridiculous.
