  1. I was new to the game when I deeded it and didn't understand that the mining in the game game was a 2D 'pillars-based' and not a 3D mining system. I deeded at the TOP of the mountain, and climbed it from the east side. I had no idea that stinking tunnel was even THERE until 3 weeks later when I got around to exploring around the base of the mountain. In short, I had no idea at all that the tunnel was there in the first place, OR that a tunnel placed at the BOTTOM of a mountain, would interfere with a mine at the very TOP. I also never saw the player created map of Pristine until weeks later as well. Just saying.
  2. It was never my intention to not allow travel through this passage. It simply has been progressing as the only way to keep myself from being griefed. And now that I've publicly made posts, even if I were allow a natural cave in to occur, I'd still be accused of closing or collapsing the tunnel, so there's really no win for me here. It's really an awesome deed, and the view is incredible. My play style however, absolutely does NOT mesh with being told what I can or cannot do on a deed that I pay real currency for on a monthly basis. Therefore, I think the best thing I can do is put the deed up for sale and let an interested party that doesn't have any such problems in this area take it over.
  3. Holy crap! someone killed off the white dragon? What jackwagon did that? They should rename this game to Wurmless.
  4. I'm well aware of how that all works. They'll ignore the griefing until the end of days, regardless of how many /support tickets are put in, but will most likely come down on me like a ton of bricks if I dare to defend myself and prevent myself from being constantly victimized. The song never changes.
  5. Do you pay the real world cash upkeep on these tiles? Do you repair them when the undeeded and un-reinforced sections of them collapse? No? Then don't proceed to tell me what I can or cannot do with things I pay for. I don't give two red cents what the 'rules' say, when those same 'rules' refuse to be enforced. When you send in a support ticket, you are basically told, too bad, so sad, protect your stuff better. NOTHING is ever done to prevent the griefing. And now they want to get rid of 'legal enclosures'. Just two days ago,a non-premium buddy of mine (new player) had his fountain stolen off his fenced in, locked, and gated area. Someone came in, bashed the fence, loaded the fountain up on a wagon, and then threw a crappy fence back up. Why? Who the heck knows. But the fountain didn't grow feet and decide that it didn't like that spring. And it was a 25ql fountain or so, so it didn't decay in a day. What recourse does he have? NONE. "Oh, deed it or lose it." Except that he CAN'T deed, as the area is between 3 OTHER deeds that prevent him from putting a deed there until one of the other deeds dies. "Oh, then move." Right. Because the weeks he's invested into his home and property should all just be given up and thrown away because some old decaying deed to the south has ONE perimeter square that's too far north, preventing him from deeding it. And this guy was seriously considering going premium and deeding when that other deed collapses preventing him from putting one there. Honestly after this, he's so ticked off that I don't know if he'll go premium or not. This endless griefing is driving new players (Read: NEW MONEY) away from the game. And zilch is being done about this. And you are going to sit there and be a rules stickler and tell me I can't protect my own deed or mines because of some OTHER rule that covers 'heritage' sites, highways, etc? (Which, by the way, I'm sure WILL be enforced on me most harshly with extreme prejudice if I ever collapse that tunnel.) I should have never even given due warning, but just done it. Some of you people are making me sick, really. "Two wrongs don't make a right.", etc. Defending yourself is never wrong. it's only in the past 200 years or so that collectively, we've somehow forgotten this and become a bunch of ninnies who seek to run to 'authority' figures for every little thing. People who put in a support ticket for every little thing really need to put on their big boy/big girl undies and take a long hard look at themselves. The devs have better things to do than sit there and deal with someone QQing because someone else moved a highway two tiles to the north or south or changed something on a deed that SOMEONE ELSE FOOKIN PAYS FOR! Grow a set. Find an alternate route. Buy a freakin' boat, for Magranon's sake.
  6. There are 'rules' preventing me from being griefed, but they aren't enforced. Those of us adhering to said 'rules' are the ones who suffer, whilst we are told to 'work it out' with the people griefing us. So as long as the so called 'rules' are going to be selectively enforced, if at all, I see no other real option. If the griefing doesn't stop, *I* will stop it any way I can. It really is just that simple. I can, AND WILL, collapse that tunnel. If 'the rules' don't prevent me and countless other players from being endlessly griefed, then the same 'rules' won't prevent me from protecting my deed. You can't have your cake and eat it too on this. Either the rules are the rules and are enforced, or they are not. You can't turn a blind eye to the endless griefing, and all those people breaking said rules, and then at the same time, try to come down on people doing what they have to do to protect their deeds after they've been thrown to the wolves. But I think I've been clear. If the griefing continues, I can and will close it. Just as nothing prevents someone from coming onto people's property and griefing them. The bottom line is I have hundreds of real world dollars invested in my deeds and if the rules aren't enforced, then I am forced to do what I have to do to protect myself. And what makes something a 'Heritage' site, anyway? Just because someone came along before I did and built something, that makes it a permanent fixture that can never be changed, altered, or abolished? Rubbish. There's nothing on Pristine at all that hasn't been build, dozed, re-built, ruined, abandoned, and rebuilt again. that makes everything a 'Heritage' site. Double rubbish. I worked on a canal project last weekend helping to connect the lakes to the sea. There were about 8 of us. Do you know how long it took us to mine through a square? Minutes. Like 2 or 3 at most. In an hour we bulldozed through over 20+ squares and finished the land portion of the tunnel. If a tunnel through the mountain is what is wanted, It would be easy, and simple, to create a NEW tunnel on the property of someone who wanted it. I'd even be willing to tolerate it in my perimeter, if people would actually consider helping to re-dig it. (It's not exactly like this tunnel runs in a straight line!) It wouldn't even take 2 hours to do so with 10 people who cared enough to put in the effort. Everyone wants to ride on the backs of others and no one wants to put forth the effort to make something themselves. People would cry to the stars about the tunnel being closed, but who would actually volunteer to help create a new one? Yea... thought as much.
  7. I absolutely could not have said it better myself. If you listen to the players, the game will grow and continue to grow. But really, what's happening more and more is I see my fellow players both on the forum and on my server and Alliance getting increasingly PO'd to the point that many will simply stop playing. Is this really what you want? I don't think it is. Please... listen to your players. We pay your salary after all. Sometimes what's 'best' for the game', isn't what's best for the game. It's what keeps you employed. Think up on that.
  8. Question: Does this statement mean that: 1.) This spell does not EXIST on Freedom cluster? (Don't have a priest so I don't know who has what.) OR 2.) This spell DOES exist on Freedom cluster, but only certain (not all) priests currently have it. So only.. what.. Mag priests have it on Freedom? http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Disintegrate It also says it's tied to mining permissions on deed. But what stops someone from disintegrating my perimeter reinforced wall and going straight into my mine? The perimeter is part of what we pay real cash in monthly upkeep for. If all of a sudden anyone can disintegrate a reinforced perimeter wall, that PRIOR TO TODAY was completely safe, and secure, and which the security of countless mines are built around, then this is absolutely unacceptable. I currently own the dead center of the Tunnel of Unrest on Pristine. I've had to extend and expand my deed recently to discourage vandalism and people thinking it was cute to mine out and collapse my reinforced tiles in my side tunnel leading up to my deed. If I get ANY more vandalism and griefing on my deed, I absolutely WILL shut down.this entire tunnel and collapse the whole damn thing. Then the rest of you can either dig another tunnel OFF of my deed, and go grief someone else, or learn to sail. Every so called 'fix' you folks implement lately seems to do nothing but aid and assist the griefers. I'm sure that's not intentional. But that's how it's playing out. And if you refuse to help us people being griefed, we'll find our own solutions to them. Like collapsing the dead center of previously 'public' tunnels which are now dead center of my deed, thus shutting off 'easy' travel to the entire western side. 'Oh you can't do that'. Oh yes, I CAN. And I WILL, if the griefing doesn't stop. As I said, the more freedom you give to griefers, the more creative solutions people will come up with to stop them. In my case, it's simple. Collapse the tunnel and the griefing stops. There are at least three other ways up and around this mountain other than that tunnel. It's not the ONLY way. It's just the best known. I'm not obligated to keep such a thing open if people are going to misuse it and abuse it. It also runs longwise on my deed and totally screws up my ability to connect my other mines because some genius way back when thought it was a brilliant idea to totally hork over an entire mountain range by digging a tunnel THROUGH the entirety of it, thereby obliterating any possibility of running a mine counter-direction at ANY level, due to dropshafts and this being a 2D 'pillar' game vs 3D. Someone digging a tunnel at the BOTTOM of a mountain, does not logically cause the tiles at the TOP of the mountain to create a 40 tile deep dropshaft! This whole 'pillar' concept is ridiculous, but that's another conversation entirely. The bottom line is that I pay real dollars each month for my deed and I refuse to be endlessly griefed on a PVE server. If you keep enabling the griefers, I'll permanently disable them by collapsing the Tunnel of Unrest. End of story.
  9. Wow. This sounds so...common sense. And logical. And rational. Nah... they'll never do it in a million years.
  10. LOTRO did, and is doing this. They call it the 'Player's Council'. Every single one of whom were handpicked by Turbine staff, and yet they were supposed to 'represent' the players. The players asked to choose their own representatives, and were told no. We are picking them for you. Learn from the mistakes of those who came before you, or like Turbine, you will no longer be 'powered by your fans', as they will go elsewhere. EQN Landmark is starting to look very good right about now. Straighten out your game folks, before you don't have one.
  11. Player view, speaking as a paying customer. No, you are missing the point. Some tunnels are pre-existing that go from DEED mines and connect TO off-deed tunnels. Give us the ability to cheaply (NOT 5s a tile!!!) collapse mine tunnels on our OWN deed AND perimeter, OR, give us the ability to put a door INSIDE our mine ON our deed to shut off outside access. THAT is what was asked for. They aren't asking for the area in a non deeded place to be secured. They are asking for the ability to secure their own tunnels on their own property.
  12. There is already a place you can go in Wurm to do these things that the rest of us here on Freedom find vile and distasteful. A place where such things are condoned and mutually agreed upon behavior. That place is the Epic cluster. But I've seen it for years, in every single MMO I've played. People who are too lame to PVP on the PVP servers, want to PVP on the PVE servers against people who have no interest in doing so. In short, they want easy pickings and low hanging fruit because they aren't 1337 enough to PVP against the real PVPers . People who like that sort of thing are DOING that sort of thing, on the PVP servers and all is well. It takes a special kind of individual to try to come to the PVE servers and bring that sort of behavior over here. In short, it is childish behavior, regardless of an individual's chronological age. It is a failure to see that there are other points of view, equally as valid as one's own, and other playstyles, equally as valid as one's own. Not everyone enjoys the same thing. But only a child sits there and says that XYZ has to be a certain way, mirroring their own playstyle, or you are somehow doing it wrong, or whining, etc. I did my research on this game and the kind of gameplay provided. I wanted to ensure that I could build what I wanted to, without someone destroying in 30 seconds what took me 3 months to build. And then there are the cries of 'Well, you want it to be MORE realistic, me stealing your stuff is realistic!'. Well by that same logic, so is someone being able to put a crossbow bolt between the eyes of a thief, which is exactly what would happen 'in real life', if I caught someone stealing my boat. You don't take 10% damage from a crossbow bolt to the head. You're just plain out dead. Headshots...That's how thievery has been successfully mitigated for thousands upon thousands of years. Accept no inferior substitutes. I would, however, condone stealing being enabled on Freedom... with the caveat that thieves are marked thus for 48 hours and can be attacked and one-shotted by anyone with a bow, regardless of it's ql level. And then let us hang the corpses by the town square and post a sign at their feet that simply says: THIEF. And maybe a name toggle above their head that says THIEF in big red capital letters. You want to take a boat which doesn't belong from you right under the nose of the owner, just because they left it unmoored because they were dredging something? Fine. You are then INSTANTLY flagged thief, and any attack, from any other player, instantly does lethal damage and has a 100% hit chance, regardless of your skills and abilities and armor. Then, they get to loot your corpse, and all of your posessions are forfeit. They then can also sell your stinking, thieving corpse to the merchant or token for 11i. Then we're good. Other than that, no. I don't pay hundreds of dollars in real money for you to be able to come onto my private land and steal my ship because one of my allies borrowed it and forgot to moor the darn thing. Or for you to be able to waltz onto my deed and lock my BSBs. Which is a horrible exploit, and yet even though it's recognized that this isn't supposed to happen, it has not been fixed and people using this exploit are not being punished. Which, again, simply encourages more such behavior. You pay to play a certain way. And there are certain servers that support that playstyle. I pay to play a certain way, and there are certain servers that support my playstyle. Surely you can keep your playstyle, and the irreverent attitude that goes with it, on your server. It does not make you strong or free or independent to assail or plunder people who have no defense against you. It makes you the basest kind of craven coward. One who desires the riches and glory of battle, but which is too spineless to take them from an armed foe. If someone is caught endlessly griefing, I don't think they should be banned. Far from it. I think their toon should be teleported to the Epic cluster and some kind of limitation placed that ensures they can never travel to the freedom cluster ever again, and if they do, it kills them. Instantly. Fair warning of this should of course be given. That way there are no misunderstandings.
  13. Uh, yea Drew, that pretty much hangs you buddy when someone respected catches you in the act. Your deeds are indefensible and yet all you do is cop an attitude. Someone came into my local area last night after I'd logged out bashed one of our (non-premium) friends' fences, took the fountain that we had painstakingly build and imped for him, threw up a crappy fence, and left. It was behind a fence, and all gates were locked. And still he has no recourse. He's just screwed. It happened in the wee hours of the morning and none of us were on, and none of our tracking skills are high enough to see past a few 'hours'. Even if we could track it, the GMs wouldn't do a darn thing. I've had stuff stolen off my front porch, literally ONE square away and their solution was to tell me to 'work it out' with my rapist. Nice. People who rob you blind are 'doing nothing wrong' in this game, because you somehow didn't 'protect' your stuff, even if it's impossible to do so by an old deed or perimeter blocking your ability to deed it. But that's OK. We adapt and overcome. But I don't think you have to worry about being 'banned', no matter how crappy your behavior. Thievery and the like are actively encouraged on this game it seems by the fact that nothing is ever done about it. And that of course, just encourages it more. Taking a boat for a joyride ONCE could have been seen as a 'noob' mistake. Doing it 3x, hiding the boat, trying to get the owner to ransom it back, and then whining like YOU are somehow the victim here... yea, that's just above and beyond idiotic. Grow a set, own up to your actions and apologize. Then people will leave you alone. Keep maintaining that hardline, and you'll be on KOS until the end of days. I may even add you to my deeds just for safe measure. I despise thieves and people with a chip on their shoulder.
  14. Any pointers on how to actually GET to this market? The community map shows no roads and such. What's the best way to get there from major locations, just hack through the monster infested forest? Or is there an east/west road not on the map from the winter oak farmstead area?
  15. That's all ya had to say from the outset, and it would have saved a whole thread of worry and grey hairs!
  16. I think someone simply saw the movie 'JAWS' once too many times as a kid and now insists on inflicting their childhood fascination on a paying playerbase, no matter the end result. No, people DO NOT, by and large, want to be ganked by giant sharks whilst simply going from point A to point B. If you insist on doing this, after and beyond all reason, then offer alternative transportation. There simply is no other acceptable solution. We PAY YOU to play Wurm OUR way. Not the way YOU'D have us play it. Wurm isn't a new game where you can just introduce all this stuff from the outset and have a take it or leave it attitude. Once things have been established and people are paying for them, there is an expectation that must be met. Otherwise, people leave and in droves. And that would NOT be good for Wurm at all. I played LOTRO since the Beta. I left LOTRO because after 6 years they TOTALLY redid the character classes and skill system/traits to the point where the character I logged into one Autumn day wasn't the same toon I had the prior morning. It looked like me, but it was so radically different that the character I'd been playing for over 6 years was completely alien. Even though I'd pre-ordered TWO of the top notch packages for Helm's Deep, I quit. Right then and there and have not been back. Please don't pull a LOTRO and start implementing stuff that 90%+ of the players vehemently DO NOT WANT, or I'm afraid I'll be forced to take my gaming dollars elsewhere. P.S. You may notice that Turbine just had a massive layoff. This is what happens when you don't listen to your player and insist on shoving things down their throat that they don't want. They decide it simply isn't worth fighting and go find something else to do with their time and money. This isn't a threat. It's a fact. Tick off enough people by unasked for changes to play style, and they'll leave. Especially when the things that NEED to be addressed are still broken and/or unbalanced.
  17. I'm just going to say it. Having something forcibly implemented that can quite possibly cost players huge amounts of loss in real world dollars on a PVE server, is just ridiculously stupid beyond all compare. Especially on something so basic as transport from point A to point B. You want ship nomming sharks that can destroy the cargo, vessels, and dump it all in the open ocean? Fine. In return for this idiocy, I want player constructable teleports that will enable transport between major locations. Thus making seafaring 100% optional. Otherwise no. I can't strongly state enough that if I lose cargo that I just paid $50 for to a shark, it'll be the last dime Wurm ever sees. There seems to be some confusion as to what a 'negative' response to something is. Say that one of the devs gets the idea into their head that they are going to put the equivalent of Spongebob Squarepants as a hostile mob into the game. Declaring that this is a horrible idea, is not a bad thing. What everyone seems to want us to say is... "Well, we're going to get Spongebob no matter what... so let's help make it the BEST Spongebob it can be!" Wrong. This idea is horribly flawed, has zero real world positive connotations that I can see for the players, other than PERHAPS something else fishable, and a bevy of endless possible implementation nightmares mixed with inevitable real financial loss for Wurm if people's stuff starts getting destroyed that they paid real cash for. So how about we just call it like it is. It's a really bad, horrendous idea. Drop it. Kill it. Don't do it. Get it out of your head right now, and flush it down the toilet. The majority of people will not want this, and it will end up being a game killer. Period, end of story. At the end of the day a bad idea, is a bad idea. And it needs proclaimed as such. This is an UBER bad idea.
  18. Ok, I'll take... Steel tools 50ql for 15c: Steel Saw and Steel Hatchet please. Lantern 50ql for 10c. (Two if you have them, if not, just the one is fine.) I own what used to be Wyvren's Retreat, and I am just 5 squares east of you. I can pick up at your location when you have the items available. /t in game to Belrindor or reply to this topic. In game will get faster response if I'm logged in. If not, reply here please and I will check it first thing when I log in tomorrow. Many thanks.
  19. Cutting down the fruit trees in someone's perimeter and then building a fence around the area will not likely endear you to people. In short, don't do in the game, what you wouldn't do in real life. There's no way in Hades you'd start digging a hole in someone's front yard or cut their fruit trees down for kindling. If ya did, they'd make you sixteen kinds of dead. If I could suggest just ONE thing however, it would be this: Wurm may be a game, but please don't forget to bring your brain with you when you log in. Have a nice day!
  20. What does the fix to the foraging tiles entail?
  21. Got my wagon today. Great wagon, fast service. Highly recommended. Thanks again!
  22. Ok then, I'd like to commission one. Since it'll be made from scratch, I have a rare plank that I'd like ye to use in it's construction. If you have any oak for the last plank, that'd be great. If not, we can just use the rare birchwood plank for the last one. End quality may suffer a tiny bit, as it's only a ql28 plank, but that's fine. Contact me either here on the forum or, preferably, /t me in game on Pristine @ Belrindor to arrange for a time for me to pick it up and payment. Many thanks ahead of time.
  23. Hi there, do you still have any wagons in stock? If so I'd like to purchase one.
  24. Hi, nice page ye have set up here. Do ye happen to have any of those 30ql toolbelts in stock? This old starter belt has quite outworn it's present usefulness.
