  1. I strongly recommend to not use sudo to start java webstart. Java webstart is downloading the application (may also contain native code) and executes it. Be careful with using root permissions.
  2. @NeeNee yes, but in order to adjust the size (or strength) of those the have been moved up or down the list.
  3. Hi all, I sometimes daydream how Wurm would look like if we limit the mobs to real animals only. Maybe it is possible to introduce a switch in the configuration that replaces the models? What do you think could be a good replacement of each mob? 4. +1 These bee hives fit to the round ship doors: kitschy. I love the strive for realism in Wurm.
  5. Hi, grinding taming and lockpicking seems to be much harder than before the update. Reason for taming: You get only a skillgain on a successful taming. The skill gain on each tick has been reduced though (like all other skills). Reason for lockpicking: You get only one skillgain every 10 min. The skill gain on each tick has been reduced though (like all other skills). Regards Davidius
  6. actually you can swap this with caring, which is using base skill instead of effective
  7. Hi, a high skill in animal husbandry is actually a problem for breeding as it creates a lot of bad or not wanted traits. Therefore I suggest to use base skill instead of effective skill for breeding. Regards Davidius
  8. Hi,(read footnote before commenting) since OpenJDK 1.9 got released we do have the OpenJDK for linux. However, if I want to start the client launcher it shows me a white rect and than crashes. It sometimes shows some icons, but these aren't really in place. Since I prefer OpenJDK over Oracle Java, I am interested if someone got it working yet. Any ideas, suggestions or maybe even a nice guide? Regards David Footnote: I'm aware that OpenJDK (i.e. iced-tea) is not officially supported. I know that there are people that think there is no real reason to not use Oracle Java. This is just a call for those hobbyists which does not only waster their time in a virtual reality but also waste time on tweaking and tinkering their own system with a lot of time just for the sake of getting it done. This is a rebellion against the limitation of my freedom to use the software I once chose and not obeying to some developers that don't care.
  9. Hi, it is not really a serious bug, but it happens often. The characters doesn't show up in the location they really are. I attached two screenshots with the char dislocated by around 0.75 tile to the east. Ego-view of the char: http://stroke.mooo.com/Download/Wurm/2017-05-07-194038_3200x1080_scrot.png View from another char: http://stroke.mooo.com/Download/Wurm/2017-05-07-194030_3200x1080_scrot.png Regards Davidius
  10. Pulling

Hi, bug reproducing: Pull several times or pull and turn around and pull several times. (Doesn't matter if pulling or gently pulling.) What happens: The items is going to get stuck between 2 positions (it switches between both positions all the time) and doesn't get pulled any further. Regards Davidius
  11. Hi, actually the problem has two symptoms, that maybe belong to each other. Here a short summary what happened: It happened on a tile that belongs to a 3 story house. The specific tile got catapulted by enemies. Therefore the ground tile got littered with items from the upper floors. In order to repair the house an opening on 1st upper floor was created. Then some of the items got hauled up to 1st upper floor and pushed to a neighbour tile. On the neighbour tile another opening was created now. Some items from 1st upper floor (those which belong to 2nd upper floor) got hauled to 2nd upper floor. The items on 2nd floor now should have get moved to the defect tile, but this was only possible for some items (cupboard, wardrobe, fireplace, ...). It was impossible to put a bed or a washing bowl there. Even after emptying the tile on all 3 stories (ground, 1st and 2nd upper floor), it was not possible to put the bed and the washing bowl there. The problem got solved after restarting the server. On the neighbour tile there was a different problem. It was possible to drop 2 bsbs on that tile and move them. after dropping the 3rd bsb, none of the bsbs was pushable. It was possible to push even more bsbs on the that tile. However after pushing the bsb on that tile, it was not possible to push it anymore on that tile, not even off the tile anymore. The only possibility to remove it was to pick it up again. This problem got solved on server restart too. Regards Davidius
  12. Important notice: Once you installed oracle java, make sure that you use the java web start (javaws) from oracle to start the client. If you do not take care about that you might end up openjdk configuring over webstart and then calls oracle java to start the actually application. This will not work. If you are not sure about how to check whether it is using the correct executable or how to switch to the correct executable, I suggest you to deinstall openjdk. This has to be done AFTER installing oracle java because all the packages depending on java will get deinstalled too. To deinstall openjdk you can use the following commandline: sudo apt purge openjdk-8-jdk openjdk-8-jdk-headless openjdk-8-jre openjdk-8-jre-headless openjdk-9-jdk openjdk-9-jdk-headless openjdk-9-jre openjdk-9-jre-headless icedtea-netx-common openjfx icedtea-8-plugin icedtea-netx default-jre-headless
  13. Update to openjdk: The current unstable client uses javaFx which is in an experimental state in openjdk-8 (there is a openjfx). The problem got solved in openjdk-9. However icedtea didn't release and netfx package for java 9 yet. It may be possible to get it working with java 9 by checking icedtea for not released versions but this needs some experience. In short: If you want the unstable client you have to switch to oracle java 8 for now PS: if you are going for the current stable version you could give openjdk-8 a try. It does perform better due to its faster garbage collector (which is responsible for most of the lag you will experience in wurm). However, openjdk is NOT supported by the the wurm team.
  14. I remember once having problems with some bytes at the end of each line that makes it impossible to parse. Please check with a Hex-Editor or an editor of your trust if the line endings does not contain any additional bytes. PS: I'm running the stable client with openjdk-8 and it does have a better performance than it does with oracle java8
  15. Hi, this happened to me twice today. After embarking a cart I wasnt able to turn the camera anymore. I tried to do it by using the keys to turn the camera and the mouse, non worked. I even couldn't move anymore. I still can disembark from the cart by clicking a tile and choose disembark, but still can not move. The tile decoractions are still doing its animation and all the drop down menus are working properly. I can interact with everything that is in my field of view. Regards Davidius PS: After relogging I could move the camera again, but I wasnt able to move the cart. After dropping some barrels into the cart that I took out before the problem got solved and everythign is working properly again.
