    Portals

Together with New Haven, we’ll be introducing a new portal mechanic, allowing you to teleport from any server to any other server, as well as between starter deeds on the same server.

I do hope this is limited to the player's person and not horses/wagons and other stuff.

    In-game auction house
Another project being developed is an in-game auction house, which will handle both auction and WTS offers. It’s meant to facilitate trade between players - you’ll be able to sell and purchase items through a new UI window, currently planned to be accessible through any mailbox in the game.

Don't like this idea. I'd like to see more use for merchants instead of this. Also what happens to stuff that needs to be transported (bulk stuff where no hwy is available). Will you have a way for players to fulfill orders like that or will it just magically be transported over mail now?

    Also regarding dumbing down:

Keep in mind what challenges you are removing from the game. If you will end up with just a "Timesink Online" with no actual player wit involved, people will prefer other games over yours. Not only new players...

  2. Other - old Epic. Was everything new player experience someone could ask from a MMORPG.

Other than that I don't play on NFI but I don't see why it would be worse than SFI. New player experience depends on your context - your location on the island, people around you, how those people are, how you get along etc. My SFI new player experience (when I moved from Epic) was great. I thought I would slowly fade away from the game, after Epic got silent, but not only I continued playing but I found new enjoyment in the game as well. I met another person they just made a shack, where the only person they met was me (was passing by, wasn't far from other people tho) and they stopped playing I think. Another case, a friend also tried freedom but got overwhelmed by the grind and stopped forever.

    So. Guys.

I know I'm going off topic here, but be helpful to new players if it's not too much of a bother. Keep on-deed permissions so that you can invite some stranger to stay and help them out, show them the neighborhood, alliance etc, talk to them. If you know people that would like a new player in their deeds direct them there.

  3. When I tried exchanging deeds with my alt I got this message:

[22:30:30] You cannot trade the deed for Lindenview since you are already the mayor of Corabia

I think it should be possible to exchange deeds. Since you exchange mayor roles basically.

    What use is this?

    * Exchanging deeds between alts doesn't require 3 prem toons.

    * When players would want to exchange deeds (I never heard of this happen) they don't need a prem alt or intermediary - which is a bit illogical also.

  4. I kinda like it the way it is. It's a nice touch you have to place it down to meditate on it. Even though I lost hours looking for my rugs in the wilderness when I forgot to place them. You can also sit on a chair and meditate btw, if you don't want to be sitting directly on the rug :)

At most I'd be ok with ALSO using it from inventory. But a big no to just using it from inventory.

  5. Those nodes look pretty well integrated and natural. It's nice to have more visual feedback whenever possible. Pretty good job I gotta say, I like it.

I want to to see it through all the seasons now.

I suspect they added a gradient to the outlines. It does look a bit different. And I also mean the tiles outline. There is also a shadow from the outline. I can't really remember how it was before as I didn't really pay attention to it that much. If it's easy for them don't see why not allow showing the old style of outline also.

On my end it looks crisp, tho.

People who don't ever have any interest in PvP want to determine how PvP servers are ran and the changes that are made there.

Personally I play, and most importantly played and plant o continue playing on Epic every now and then. There are also people who play only on Epic. There are also people who play mostly there and occasionally on Freedom. We might not all be those hardcore PvPers with rights and privileges (according to you and a few others) to not have the game closed on them abruptly, but they do play there actively. And not just sermons lmao.

And if some people have nothing to do with PvP and no interest in it but still don't want to see servers getting erased that is still valid in my opinion. In fact it's hard to me to understand players who are ok with server removals whatever the purpose. How would you be able to put in hours of gameplay in such an uncertain climate where servers get erased by convenience and loud minorities on the forums? People would start cutting losses.

Look at games like Mortal Online. For them the "no wipe" policy is holy. Just LOL at games like WO performing wipes.

I haven't even thought about this. I hope those new tile decorations don't stand out that much visually... Right guys?  Oh man now I'm really worried...

Merging SFI and NFI would be an interesting option, now how do we organize ourselves to ask for it?

For me the first step is to know why they are still separated. What I understood so far that in the beginning they wanted a completely fresh start with no influence from existing players. Now I think it might be about the economy? I don't know. I just heard prices there are way higher. If it's the economy I can see some people being bothered by having to lower prices, or maybe some fear prices will raise on SFI and maybe the team themselves are concerned prices will drop so there will be less silver purchases.

If there are no more reasons to keep them separate we can put in the benefits for allowing travel between NFI and SFI.

And maybe a poll but with options that include the responder's cluster SFI/NFI and if they want a join or don't want a join. But like I said before doing this on the forum will not cover the whole pop or the majority of it.

  8. That's why I suggested expansions. DLCs means they have to implement the logic to allow both new and old stuff. Besides some updates are modifying existing content, like how will the AH be for people with or people without the DLC on the same server?

i don't mean to be rude but arguing to keep servers (and inadvertently require dev time to make sure new features don't break there) that average literally 0 people online

676fbbafcc493cb57ddc05e5b1a92601.png for 10/12 months of a year around is super unhealthy for the game, and epic has two of them, with the other two averaging one player.

It's not, quite the contrary. It's the healthy thing to do. I don't think me or any other player on any server should have to have their server removed just so maybe we can be coerced to play on another server. Especially since there was this promise that as long as there are people playing on a particular server they aren't going to shut it down. People need to understand that this isn't like WoW where a server is just a bunch of people and that's pretty much it - people's work, progress, goals/projects are tied to that particular server. Once it's shut down, it's basically cutting people off from the game.

devs already said they're happy with nothing happening for months, people aren't going to stick around for half a year just for minor bandaid fixes and chaos has already hit epic levels of dead yet again due to their announcement

Why are they leaving because of this? Because WO team did the right thing not to butcher people's (ahem... paying customer's) game, in order to coerce them to come over? We might as well be unhappy Xanadu isn't as populous as it was at the beginning, given the fact that if they erased all the small Freedom servers plus the northern freedom ones, people would be forced to play here! With me! Foreeveeeerrr! 😈

The only purpose in making anything on PvE servers is to support grind.

Not really. If by support grind you mean make actions quicker with better tools/etc. Then yes that is a purpose. But itself is subordinated to other goals and that's all those player-set goals. PvP isn't an end-game for a lot of Freedom players.

I don't see why supporting a PvP on the Defiance shouldn't be one of those goals, tho. Except maybe for the fact that you can easily just do the grind part in safety then on PvP island just fight. On Epic you can do something similar, but the home islands deeds can be attacked by enemies. It was much less frequent.

This would mean getting rid of at least some of the current PvP servers, but it seems that the people that live there don't actually mind all that much. I don't really have a horse in this race, but given how many PvP players want this, it's probably a good idea.

Another example of "not everyone is on the suggestions forums". I didn't know about this and nobody asked me if I want my homeserver on Epic deleted, as I would answer with a resounding NO. If you asked me this when I was the only person playing on Serenity I'd also say NO, thanks.

Not all the people I know want their server deleted in favor of anything. In fact I haven't heard this idea speaking with people in-game. I did hear instead people tell me they only want to play this game on Epic (because of the curve and action timers).

I'd imagine there are people on Chaos and Defiance sharing the same views.

Merging SFI and NFI- doesnt mean to put them all together instead of Xanadu or something. No, just merge clusters so, as you said people can travel and play together. Not being separated. And so pvpers from NFI could do PVP with SFI players. Don't wipe anything, there's no need at this point. NFI players have enough experienced vets already, who wanted to get his 99 skill- already did. Who didn't won't get anyway anytime soon regardless of being sticked to SFI or NFI. And also don't make another new serwer for PVPers only because it would divide already small community even more.

When I hear merge I think about bringing people on a single server. If it's just joining the clusters NFI and SFI that offers benefits not only to PvP, but now we can explore and play together on the PvE side also.

I never fully understood why they were kept apart for this long.

And yes, suggestions are as they are- suggestions. But as a dev if you're hearing such "suggestions" for a year, 2 years, 4 years, 6 years from many players it really means that there's something more behind it. And you should really take on it, consider, plan and do whatever you can to make it happen or officially after 6 years tell people that you don't care or you won't do because of (put any reason)
    .
As someone who runs multiple companies I couldn't look my customers into eyes if I'd shelve their ideas and needs for so long, after so many promises and with barely any responses after that. If something wouldn't work from my point of view, then I'd state it clear and I'd offer multiple solutions, that might be similar to cusomers needs. If you simply ignore your customers voice for so long, that's a business suicide. My customers pays me, so I can live and grow my companies, they require at least respect and respectful answers to their needs.

I still think dev vision is king. There are way too many customers in the game to make an assumption of a suggestion is indeed wanted by many players or just by a few. A lot of the in-game players may not even have an account on the forum. And sometimes (many times) the players don't know what they want. I saw this in another game - big pvp guild "whoa! full loot pvp is holy. Realism, immersion, etc etc." they got wiped and stopped playing. That's why I say the devs take full responsability, they can't just take it from the community. Even the people that suggest something might turn and leave the game.

Can dev vision fail? Of course. There are lots of game ideas out there that just didn't work out. But can you have a good game based only on forum suggestions? I don't think so.

Mortal Online 2 is an example for this. Devs catered to the hardcore PKers as they were complaining they have too many penalties for being criminals. Inexperienced players get ganked and have their progress reset constantly, so they either stop playing, even if only because they can't put so much time in the game and don't find the situation frustrating at all, or they play the game partially - either staying on the tutorial island (non-PvP) rerolling their toon constantly (yep...), or they go in low tier armor they don't care if they loose. Now I hear PK people complain there isn't any more prey in the game XDD.

But coming back to the point that not all players are on the suggestion forum. If the devs wanted to know if some particular features are really wanted by the player base what they could try to do is come up with some options, and pute them up to vote similar to how it's done in Runescape. It's just when they need to know how many players want some feature in order to help the decision making process, it shouldn't mean that every decision the devs take should go through a voting filter.

#1 suggestion- PVP and servers merge
I'm not a PVP player. But I'm part of Wurm's community and even if i had barely any idea about PVP needs i hear them. I'm listening and hearing them for years saying the same things over and over again. PVP is dying and while it's not the main part of community it's important part of it. So they need to be heard out. I won't tell anything about possible solutions- they said enough of the same. Merge servers, stop separating already small community even more. You can do that Devs. Of course there will be problems with merging NFI and SFI, but afterall that's your job to make it work.
You might say it's not the good solution- but you haven't presented any better for years. And even if you would, most likely it won't be better because the only right solution is to furfill community needs. They won't take anything less anymore.

This will pay out immediately. I'm going to bet everything i have, that as soon as PVP servers would open for each other- dozens of new premmed accounts would return instantly.
PVP merge should be done asap, should be prior to everything else- so even if you're working on other projects, simply shelve them and work on this. Otherwise no matter what you present to us, it will be disappointing. Or there will be only few of us to receive it.

What's all this merge discussion going on? It's a completely unnecessary solution forced on the playerbase. Just allow NFI - SFI travel and if it isn't possible for a 2 way merge with Epic, do another 1 way merge from epic to Freedom like it was done in the past, that automatically sets the skills for everyone, so no one can complain they didn't have the chance to move.

Why don't we remove all those tiny 8x8 Freedom servers and merge anyone into Xanadu and Independence then? Or erase Xanadu cause it's too big and laggy and merge the pop into the little 8x8s. The only moment when erasing servers will be the only right solution is when the game is shutting down lol.

And as to your illusion: No more than a handful at best will return, if for short time, then run away bored or disgusted as in similar situations before.

This. I can't believe people just buy this reset stuff. I mean imagine all your ingame stuff gets wiped and you are asked to move to this other server as a PvE. It's pretty much the same, except you now have to join some player made kingdom or something.

On 11/26/2023 at 12:05 PM, Alkhadias said:

#2 suggestion- Stop presenting us stuff that none asked for, when there's so much community waits for so long.

Not everything has to be asked by the community. Devs need to have a clear vision of what the game is/ is meant to be and follow that. Sure take player feedback/suggestions, but in the end they are responsible for their game. They will implement more building options like people want then you will have some disgruntled wurmians stating that was wrong and the game needs more PvE so where's goblin camps. The suggestions should be more like ideas for the devs. I haven't followed the node system in depth but it seems to me they want to make those gathering skills more visual, more intuitive.

I agree about the wagon thing tho... X_X

These are not even close to the same thing. Here, I'll even break it down.

New Elevation reset didn't work for a level of reasons.

    1. It's a reset, it brought in an influx like you'd expect but infighting in kingdoms brought it down faster.
    2. It being just a reset of one map, probably wasn't enough to bring back all the old people and so it wasn't all that big a deal.

The issue now is PvP is split between 2 active servers, Chaos and Defiance, and 3 clusters if you want to include Epic. This creates a major issue. People are attached to their accounts typically more than they are lands on PvP, the idea of a base reset being a killer for PvP'ers is kinda weird, typically a PvP deed isn't something that you bother doing design contests for. However Chaos cannot go to Defiance, and Defiance cannot go to Chaos. This creates two groups, two groups who'd like to play with each other because Defiance actually has some level of activity, while Chaos is in a flux because we couldn't be too bothered to grind up another account again and we lose some to Defiance.

Defiance isn't perfect, and some of those ugly parts are what is killing the desire for Chaos folks to make a new account. A merge for PvP servers offers the ability for every player to play together on PvP, without restriction of cluster. Tweaks and rebalances on what did and didn't work for Defiance can be made for a server that facilitates a merge. And in general, a one stop point for PvP makes it easier to coax people into trying PvP.

The situation is way too different and what is being asked isn't even so much as in the same ballpark of the Elevation reset. The first step towards a healthy PvP server is activity, and so far all we've been given is dividing lines. These diving lines need to be addressed and removed where possible.

As far as "loose" the players playing on PvP currently, I highly suggest you actually look into the widespread support for a merge there is from the PvP community. As it stands, PvP is no longer big enough to facilitate Epic style kingdom servers.

They are not the same thing but as with a merge as you describe it it will have the same result. It is simply the nature of this game that people get attached to their bases, their servers etc. Even if they aren't like you said, people might still not want to start fresh on a new server because at that moment they might not be up for the time investment to build everything back up again. That if they want to play on Freedom PvP at all considering the fact it will be more densely packed (just 1 island with multiple kingdoms), lack of template kingdoms and most importantly not having the curve and the action timers of Epic.

There was a point you could transfer your skills to Freedom from Epic. Why didn't everyone from Epic just rush over to Freedom then to Chaos? Some did sure, but not everyone. A great number simply remained on Freedom, myself included, and others continued playing on Epic.

Allowing transfers should literally accomplish the same thing as erasing Epic, for those players that want to play on Chaos. It would furthermore enrich player experience. Maybe at times some people would feel like playing on the faster paced Epic, they could go there play for a while while it's active then come back to Freedom with the xp and maybe some silver/rift points. Then at some point Chaos might be active - they might feel like playing the PvP there for a while. I personally still enjoy Epic with just the one-way transfers, even if only for the fast action timers and my attachment to my home island.

I also hold the idea, since even before I came to Freedom that Epic is the most complete WO experience. This game has RvR in such depth that no other game I played had. The only game that comes close is Mortal Online, however it misses the realm part as it only has guilds for players to join, thus leaving more casual players out. And the action timers now are just perfect for a more casual gameplay.

Lastly, erasing anything in the game is bad. It breaks trust with the playerbase. Then you have to think, why not also merge PvE servers? People are complaining about lack of activity there as well. We need to fill the servers, not erase them. And 2 way transfers on Epic would help with that.
