  1. Just an idea that I've been toying with for the past few days, and not fully thought out. Right now, there are four gods and each god has a domain. Mycelium for Lib, Trees/grass for Fo, etc... I think it would be neat to introduce some more stuff like this, to make the religions more ritualistic and fascinating for those that wish to take part in it. My first idea was to give each god a direction. For example, Vyn is North, Fo is East, Lib is South, and Mag is West. Praying/holding sermons while facing this direction would provide slight (but noticeable) bonuses to faith and pray-related skill gain. Altars to these gods would need to be facing their gods direction, too. Although, some might consider that a harsh requirement, so it could be that having an altar facing the right direction for the god it is blessed for will provide even more of a bonus. Then I began to think that perhaps having certain times of the day be allotted to a certain god that would provide bonuses for its followers who are at a certain faith level, would be neat. For example, during the times that Valrei is in the Eastern portion of the sky, perhaps Fo followers would get a slight bonus to nutrition gain and their food bar would go down slower. Maybe a slight bonus to skill gain as well. Another idea would be to offer a 24hr buff to those that participate in a sermon during their gods "Special time", this "Faithful" buff would give them slight bonuses, but nothing to serious. This would encourage people to of the same faith to gather and "worship" together, while still allowing the current system which allows anyone of any religion to participate in a sermon and have the priest still gain faith. Then perhaps there other ideas, such as offering followers with 30+ faith a speed bonus while they are traveling the direction of their god. There's more things like this that can be done, but the end goal is to make the experience a more immersive one for those that wish to participate in it, while not penalizing those that don't.
  2. I imagine that two or three new continents will be added to the game when Steam release comes along Wurm will be under the Free To Play game section, I suppose, which I believe gets a lot of attention. Plus, don't games usually appear under the New Release tab on the steam frontpage for the first day or so of their release? Honestly, that's the place where I find most of the new games I get and I imagine it's the same for others. A game on the New Release tab of steam with the "Free to play" tag = instant download for me. If it appears there, even for a day, expect a massive spike in players... probably at least double, if not more, of the that which appeared during the 1.0 release. Of course, a lot of them will move on once they realize that there are fairly harsh restrictions for F2P characters (at least on Freedom... they're not so bad on Epic... perhaps introduce the Curve to all F2P characters, regardless of server cluster?). And then there's all the press you can get for an announcement like that. "Wurm turns a decade old and gets on Steam!" I hope the PR team are working on some press releases to give to all the MMO news sites. A new high-end trailer that they can send around for people to upload would also be great. I'd be sure (or at least beg him really hard) my editor posts any press release on OnRPG/MMOHut, and I would also see if the trailer (if it's made) can be posted on the OnRPG/MMOHut youtube channels. I'm sure Massively, PCGamer, etc... would also want to write about Wurm getting on Steam as well. A lot of people from a lot of different sites have played or covered Wurm in the past, and I'm pretty sure the only complaint/reason why they're not playing the game permanently is that the game requires a lot of time commitment compared to other MMOs.
  3. I love LMS! Pretty spectacular light novels, especially if you love MMOs.
  4. Not quite, but it is very easy to have on Serenity. I would suggest that OP either join Serenity or Desertion.
  5. Bart, where art thou? Dost thee remember me?
  6. I don't think it's so much that they wont work because they can't get money, but that they have expenses (be it houses, cars, families to feed, etc...) that require that they have a successful, money-making project to work on. To me, it's completely understandable to need a kickstarter to fund paychecks. Code and assets don't come out of no where. They require time to produce, and time requires money (unfortunately). These aren't exactly interns or nothing but guys in their twenties who just got out of college and this will be their first game. But again, this is just pure speculation on what they needed the money for. Still looking grim for the campaign. I plan to pledge here in a couple of days (want to make sure I have the funds before I pledge, I know I can change the pledge later, but eh). I want to see this game made because it has a very nice feeling to it. I've played Dungeon Defenders and loved it, but it wasn't quite what I wanted from a Tower Defense game. Stone Wardens has a more traditional feel to it, which is what I like in my Tower Defense games. While I wont be devestated if the kickstarter doesn't workout and they can't find any traditional investors, I will be disappointed that I wont get to play a game that shows a lot of promise.
  7. Stone Wardens is a neat looking Tower Defense game. I got to play the base demo for a bit, along with the developers (Burst Online Entertainment, a new company made up of a lot of industry vets). The Kickstarter page can be found here. It's looking kinda grim but it may make a comeback. If not, I'm hoping they'll get traditional investor funding. If you're interested in extra reading, I did an interview and wrote an article based on my playtime in the demo and the information I got from talking with the devs.
  8. Amitabha will soon be entering Serenity and starting a monastery to spread the word of the Buddha into this new land. We are a group of guys and gals who originally met and started playing together in Age of Wushu. Most of us are 20+, with one or two exceptions, and all of us are dedicated and mature. I have a short temper when it comes to drama and stupidity, and I will kick you out without warning if you start becoming a drama queen/king or find that trolling is your favorite pass-time. It's a harsh policy, but its one that has lead us to extreme success in other games and has kept us a tight-knit group of competent gamers for quite a while. We use Team Speak 3 as our communication, and while you are not required to be on it, if you want to participate in PVP with us you will be required to at least be online to listen. In other games we are quite sizable (average 40 people online at any one time, usually spikes to upwards to 80 when we start in a new (read: new) game). But, knowing Wurm, I do not see that being anywhere near the case here. We will be lucky to maintain 10-15 regular players, which is why I have decided to open recruitment in Wurm prior to our actual entrance into the game. Do not fear, we have several experienced Wurm players, and will be having outside help from a couple of established settlements (in terms of high skilled labor, high quality tools, seeds, etc...). So we are not entering blind. If you are interested in joining us from the start, please feel free to visit our website and sign-up. If not, understandable. I will update this post later on when we actually enter the game in the coming weeks. Thank you for reading.
  9. This game seems to have a long way to go, but while googling I did find a game called Alter Ego that was pretty fun. Unfortunately, I just died as a kid .___. "He opens the door on your side. You turn to run away. He catches you and drags you into the car. You are kidnapped, tortured and eventually killed. This game is over. "
  10. I didn't enjoy it to much. But then again, I honestly didn't give it much of a try and wasn't in the mood for a roguelike at the time. Will give it another go tomorrow.
  11. I do not think switching out to the old systems would be helpful at all. A large reason that so many new people are coming in is solely because of the new graphics, character customization and multistory buildings. Changing it would do more damage than good. Enough people are able to play without experiencing problems that it would not be worth it to switch back to an old system and risk making people not want to play. It would be like cutting off your foot to save your leg, but then realizing that you don't have the capability to keep the new massive wound from getting infected. The amount of effort it would take to get ready to keep infection away, combined with hacking off the foot, would not be worth it when you could have just spent all that time working on some kind of cure for the issue. Either way there will be some damage, but at the end of one method you still have a foot and a leg and in other method you have a stump where your foot used to be. ...That's such a horrible analogy .__. I'm sorry
  12. I think people should be able to be as creative as they like. You shouldn't try to censor others ability to create just because you don't like it. That's my personal opinion at least.
