  1. Sometimes, when I press a key bound to something, that action happens twice. For example, when queueing and action, I queue two. Or when opening a window, it immediately closes again. This only happens in wurm and only with key binds, not with chat, for example, which is why I believe this is a problem with wurm and not e.g. a hardware issue.
  2. Holy ... Wow, this is just... I can't even... I'll just come by in a few days.
  3. This is nowhere near as extreme for me, but ever now and then, I do notice it feeling like a key is stuck. I keep walking in a direction even after letting go, though only for a moment. Still, this is very "interesting" when it happens after moving in the direction of large drop
  4. When trying to open a link in browser, it does not happen and this stack trace appears in the log: java.io.IOException: Failed to show URI:https://i.imgur.com/yu1UPlf.jpg at sun.awt.X11.XDesktopPeer.launch(XDesktopPeer.java:121) at sun.awt.X11.XDesktopPeer.browse(XDesktopPeer.java:105) at java.awt.Desktop.browse(Desktop.java:386) at class.PzCmBxbUET.FZOk5L6Gfy(SourceFile:143) at class.EfIeuu5ly.FZOk5L6Gfy(SourceFile:635) at class.gCJABK5xUH.FZOk5L6Gfy(SourceFile:153) at class.OrNYkb3lb.FZOk5L6Gfy(SourceFile:1291) at com.wurmonline.client.V8K8v9DodL.FZOk5L6Gfy(SourceFile:4335) at com.wurmonline.client.AXpRoW7eU.invoke(SourceFile:699) at org.lwjgl.glfw.GLFWMouseButtonCallbackI.callback(GLFWMouseButtonCallbackI.java:23) at org.lwjgl.system.JNI.invokeV(Native Method) at org.lwjgl.glfw.GLFW.glfwPollEvents(GLFW.java:2346) at com.wurmonline.client.V8K8v9DodL.mMV5oPkCW(SourceFile:511) at com.wurmonline.client.WurmClientBase.fgtPPuD8uC(SourceFile:6381) at com.wurmonline.client.WurmClientBase.run(SourceFile:33305) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:748) This does not happen with the normal client
  5. This caused me some confusion at first. I use xmodmap to change the button numbers on my mouse, when I went to press them in wurm, they, however, did nothing. I later noticed that the bindings for Y and Z are swapped and it dawned on me what was happening: I use a German keyboard layout, where Y and Z and swapped compared to many other layouts. I believe wurm does not take those into account where bindings are concerned. In chat, they behaved as normal.
  6. Yes. My point is that no-delay is physically impossible. The computer will require some processing time between simulated key presses. This is not my main concern, though.
  7. Then using G-Keys is also botting. It's 3rd party software with a tiny delay. Yet, they are explicitly allowed.
  8. Yaga: Exactly! And that clarification is what I'm on about. (Does nobody read my post? ...) My G-Keys are non-functional. My question now is, can I do the same with a different key that was not originally meant for this purpose? I don't want to completely automate the game, I just want a quick way to fill my queue. This G-Key clause seems to me like it is meant to allow exactly that, but it only mentions special keys that come with your keyboard/mouse. Even those keys need software running to make them work, so I'm not asking for anything very different. The rule, however, only mentions special keys. So. Strictly speaking it is against the rules. But I don't think that what I want to do is against the spirit of the rules. I made this post in the hopes of getting an official statement about this and possibly have the rule amended. As for pushing the boundaries: Perhaps with the delay thing. But no delay is all but impossible. You always have some delay, even if you tell your software that it should not use any.
  9. I think that the intent of the rules is that it should be allowed. The wording is... hazy, though. Hence I'm asking for clarification.
  10. Which of those rules applies to Wurm? Those look very much like forum rules...
  11. Greetings! The rules mention that you may use a macro as long as it is initiated by the user, does not repeat and does not have any delays. Now, I believe the "no delay" rule is to prevent long-running macros that automate the game, rather than just fill your action queue. However, it is not always possible to have no delay at all. Can you still have a delay of a couple milliseconds? To a human, it would appear instantaneous, though in reality there will be an ever so slight delay. (say, 12 ms) Furthermore, the rules explicitly mention G-Keys and other hardware extensions. I do have G-Keys, but they are not functional because I am on Linux. Am I allowed to use software that runs in the background, reacts to toggling scroll lock and otherwise abides by the rules governing G-Keys?
  12. Wow, this thread has some long posts. I should have gotten some popcorn! Now, I have been gone for a long time, but returned to wurm around christmas. I actually got to get a look at the oaks first hand. "Deed it or lose it" has been a staple of wurm, with the enclosure rule gone more so than ever. However, another rule has always been "ask your neighbours". If you decide to act in such a way as to annoy absolutely everybody around you, then sorry, I cannot endorse such behaviour. What Quasiwud is doing is something I would clearly consider griefing/harassment. It might have been an honest mistake at first, but after you get told by multiple people that your actions are not appreciated, there has to come a point where you get the message. With that out of the way: Theonis. What exactly are you trying to achieve with this thread? Rejoin the group? I think you only achieved the opposite if that were your goal. From Odynn's posts I gathered that you had not actually been declined reentry, but that it was still being discussed; though reentry might have been unlikely due to your ties to Quasiwud. Whatever the case, the worst thing you could have done was make it public. As for people not telling you why you were removed from the list: Ever considered they were telling the truth? You were removed for inactivity due to the management overhead and many people probably did not know. Odynn. While I dislike Theonis' behaviour after he contacted you, I do think you were a bit unfair to him. (At least from my admittedly limited viewpoint that is this thread) The chat log he posted (and you did not refute) shows that he had no active part in the creating of the offending deed. He may not have asked Quasi to remove it, but I can imagine he simply did not think of it, or thought Quasi had your permission. Either way, it does seem like you are being unreasonably hard on him, since it was not him planting the deed, but rather a misguided Quasi. Right. Now that I have pissed off all major parties in this "discussion", what do I win?
  13. This has been around since basically forever, but I feel like it needs to be mentioned again. Especially players returning for the first time might get very confused by this. If you lose your premium status, your skills reset back to a maximum of 20. The skills window (F2) reflects this change. However, upon regaining premium time, the skills window does not update immediately and will still show 20 until you get a skill tick or just some time has passed. (I believe it also does not show 20 immediately after losing premium) I would expect the skills window to always show your current skills, so I consider this a bug. I classed it as a client bug since the client is where it manifests itself, but it could also be the server supplying the client with wrong information. If so, please move this to server bugs.
  14. +1 Been thinking this is missing for a while, just never suggested it. Since we can sit down on chairs and benches now, you could even play at a table!
  15. Is it still in use? The link does not appear to work anymore.
  16. Xyonado will be joining for carp and fine carp. ...and maybe some ship building, if anyone is interested. I'll also take a room if you still have one available.
  17. You also need 'java-openjfx'. This allows you to open the launcher. However, for me, it always crashes immediately. Officially, openjdk is not supported, so I tried installing sun java, but with much the same result: # # A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment: # # SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0x00007f98695f8004, pid=9160, tid=0x00007f97c4fbf700 # # JRE version: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (8.0_152-b16) (build 1.8.0_152-b16) # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (25.152-b16 mixed mode linux-amd64 compressed oops) # Problematic frame: # V [libjvm.so+0x6e0004] # # Core dump written. Not something you see every day... Edit: It seems to run if you use the sun javaws instead of icedtea: /usr/lib/jvm/java-8-jre/jre/bin/javaws wurmclient.jnlp A bit of an incantation to start wurm, but at least it works.
  18. Hmm, but surely it should be able to at least read the jnlp? Anyway, I managed to start the game by downloading all the resources linked in the jnlp file and starting the game manually. (Not sure what magic that commons-httpclient is, but I needed that, too, even though it was not mentioned in the jnlp. wut?) Not ideal, but I guess I can at least play now.
  19. Hello, Whenever I try to launch Wurm now (Haven't played in a long time, so not sure since when exactly I have this issue), it comes up with this error message: xandaros@MELON Downloads> javaws wurmclient.jnlp netx: Read Error: Could not read or parse the JNLP file. (Invalid XML document syntax. (XML Parse Exception during parsing of the XML definition at line 1: Expected: '<' but got: '')) In the window that pops up, it shows the same when I click on java console. However, there is a space inside the quotes after "but got", which makes me think it is some control character that my terminal just doesn't display. I have looked at the jnlp file with a hex editor and removed any characters in front of the first '<', but to no avail. (There actually was a weird 0xEFBBBF there, it works neither with nor without that) I have also tried other copied of the wurmclient.jnlp I had lying around that definitely used to work - same issue. I even tried converting the line endings from dos to unix, but I had a feeling that wouldn't do anything I have tried downgrading icedtea-web. I was using 1.6.1, which is the newest version, but I have also tried 1.6 and 1.5.2, always the same issue. (Those are the version I had in my cache, I can try building an older one if someone is using it and it definitely works for them) So... I'm at a loss here. What do I do now? (I'm running out of upkeep, too! ) Edit: Oh yes, of course I checked the permissions, too. I even tried setting it to 666, so that shouldn't be an issue.
  20. I know a lot of people who constantly complain about how Wurm is managed, but I could never really agree with them. This, however, is the first time I've been seriously mad. You lock off the wiki to everyone who previously had an account and make them send a message again. Very annoying, but fair enough. You also expect them to make an edit every 30 days. Seriously? I take breaks every now and then which are well longer than 30 days and you expect me to go and find something to edit to keep being able to edit? Is anyone going to set up an external wiki that is _actually_ community driven and can be edited by players that happen to have a real life?

  22. Never hit the fatigue limit, not even close. But I still think that the system is pointless and flawed. It might be an indicator that you are playing too much, but that is a personal choice and the game shouldn't outright prevent you from playing. It could give you a little notice if that was the intention. (Most other MMOs I've played do that every hour. That is almost annoying, but after 12 hours of action timer, most people wouldn't even notice) I highly doubt that is the intention of the system, though. I do not think that many people hit the fatigue limit, so just a GM asking a few questions will do. Or just a dialog like the current anti-bot check, but with text boxes to answer. Answering those will reset your fatigue level and a GM will check them when they are available. (They could even trigger these on people that frequently run out of fatigue, might become annoying but still a better system) +1
  23. Instead of getting rid of the coins, rather fix the existing exploits. I quite like the idea of having coins instead of electonic money. Which doesn't make sense in the medieval-like setting, anyway. As for the database, they are probably a full item, but realisticly: Type, Quality, Damage, Rare status, Name, Creator. I can't think of anything else. Type will probably be an int, or a long, let's say long for the sake of the argument. Quality: char. Damage: char. Rare status: char. Creator: empty string. So that makes 4+1+1+1=7 bytes per coin. If there are 1 _billion_ coins, that makes 7GB. Which is basically nothing, considering current storage capabilities. (And I highly doubt there are that many coins, anyway) Long story short: -1
