  1. Also... This means no more noobs cutting bricks... since they will make worthless walls... we will have to make sure our best masons/stonecutters are wasting their valuable time making bricks which is terrible for body stats... soooo eh... =]
  2. I thought we had new servers for people to have new areas to roam/explore.... and to help cut out some lag that shows up when there are many people in one area.... *imagines 10 Felled Oak trees* hmmmmm I think a palisade should be much stronger than a tiny little wall that goes to your hip made of just rock shards.... =] Not even mortar holding them together. =] They are coming out with all kinds of new walls... can't wait to see what we do with those... =] currently it isnt much trouble to clear areas with a catapult... 5 catapults per wall... i mean ur still talking about 1-2 throws to get it down to 30 which means uve already spent the time setting it up and aiming (which is the worst part) another 3 shots after is nothing... I personally use a lot of walls offdeed on multiple servers and I'd prefer to keep them the way they are now... 30 is a big jump... i'd be spending a lot more time than i already am repairing walls.... I already have to replace a few every day or two just from trolls or whatnot ;/ I'd prefer no balloon on damage... rather have it be linear for the most part... if it takes 1 year for a tall wall to get to 30... I don't think it should disappear 5 days later... Id rather have it slowly take increased damage until it is 100 damage after a year... which means it would be much easier to catapult down... (1 maul hit) rather than cata and wait 5 days? which seems like a really odd argument to me.. I have also seen raiders spend hours leveling deeds with multiple catapults... not recently but about a year ago league of pirates were brutal on MRH. =]
  3. Obviously those guards are dedicated... working out hard to raise their strength... or perhaps you are female? and they are just impressing you with their muscular prowess. =]
  4. Its okay to be libila on a home server then right? just long as they aren't a priest? I'm confused... Id rather see something like... Libila chants wont work when being used by whitelighters... and vice versa... =] We had a whole settlement (balfasar's) on serenity... full of libila that wreaked havoc for the better part of a month... maybe longer... until michieldewit and epi and some others gathered together and shoved them into the abyss where they belonged... they lived here... in a place they created and raided strongbox for weeks on end with no one to stop them until that... We heard lots of suggestions on what to do for enemy kingdoms etc at that time... =] Our current system is the result of all those suggestions... Seems to work pretty well for me. Last Time I had to come back to serenity I swam and its not a very long journey from the Black light at all... back on our home server in about 10 minutes and there arent many people on to watch you go anywhere you want really... some days you can even sail through strongbox and no one is on to witness it. =] Gotta love it.
  5. You can drain a trader and maintain ratios... even public ones... how else you think ive made over 3-4 gold from public traders alone? as for not knowing what to spend the money on... then make it public. =] why keep draining it if you have no use for the money? sounds like wasting your time to me. =]
  6. if they use traders to pay for prem i don't see how it would reduce income... since they arent using money then. =] I honestly think the way it works now is decent... even those that abuse it... either have money to fund jobs for people... which is good for the economy or they use it for their own stuff... which isnt really hurting anyone.. goes right back into the system unless they are hoarding sevel hundred gold... not sure why anyone would do that...
  7. Traders are definitely abused... I have multiple... it takes roughly 2-3 months to make back what you spent... and then its all free after that... I would rather see rolf getting a constant flow of money from subscriptions and give people silver with the subscription... and extra if they want to buy it. the traders as a whole aren't suppose to make more money that is the draw... more traders... less money on each... making them more available and practical. Also I wouldn't mind some trader barter... purchase a "job" from a trader... it tells you to purchase an item off it and travel to another trader or merchant? the further distance the more reward? make travelling around wurm to get ur money rather than just sitting at the trader. Trader drainer now has a full time job.. yup... thats the point. either you haven't been using the trader regularly enough... so others had the opportunity or it has not been used much and you can drain like normal... no more draining once per week or month... will keep drainers from draining just a few like they do now. It still benefits the community as a whole... same money going in and out. trolling? umm... no? I love the trade system as is... i use it daily as is... i make quite a good bit off them... but this is for ideas and suggestions... ;p and i had a suggestion.. ;P as for protunia alt... umm... don't you know everyone in wurm is just an alt of mine? yup... it is just the two of us playing together.
  8. I think my next deed I'll make public just to see how many people are trying to drain it like that...
  9. I'd like to see people trying to logon a few hundred alts to try and drain traders that are getting a much smaller share of money (because there are so many public traders)... right now its easy to drain... there are only a few traders that are public... and they only get money once per day or two in general... which means the reward is worth checking it all the time. No one is going to make 100-200 alts... put stuff to sell on them all... login nonstop all day long to sell stuff for a few copper and then say they are having fun playing wurm.... it would almost make more sense to do a job for someone making bricks or something...
  10. What about the amount that traders get from the king is distributed every hour (Albeit much less). Rather than having people camp waiting for the money... the trader would always be getting money... or maybe every minute? so unless people want to spend allllll day long draining it... (for almost nothing in return) it would always have a little to buy stuff with. This would give newer people the most benefit probably and maybe an added incentive for them to keep playing the game. could also make the spacing of them closer... and maybe make them cheaper since the amount of money they would get would still be roughly the same overall.... since they are shared among all traders... but perhaps make deed limitations on how many can be placed.... Rather than avoiding traders and acting like they are the plague... making them an available option for everyone... and lowering the return on them (because of competition) might make them more balanced. How many traders do we currently have in wurm anyways? I would guess a few hundred.... imagine if they only were getting 10-25 copper per day because there were more...
  11. i have noticed this prayer thing for over a month now... on my main and my alts... seems like you only get a gain or two and then it freezes... i was just assuming he made it so you had to move (maybe 10 tiles?) before praying again... I dunno if this is the case or not. I am not gonna walk back and forth with my priest for gains... i just pray for the favor bonuses
  12. Keep an eye out... sometimes people are willing to pay for your premium if you agree to join their deeds on elevation or something and help them out. they pay you up front (i've actually seen this quite a bit) Good mayors know that you won't gain skills after 20 and they also know you don't get the curve and i've seen many pay up front so you can make better quality items and work faster... most give you high ql tools to work with also. Just make sure if you are lucky enough to find one of these great mayors that after they buy you premium you don't just ditch them or not log in... cos I've seen that happen even more. ;/ sad sad sad. I rarely find people that i think will pay me back 10 silver for buying them premium. ;/ also you can check the strongbox trader often... (once per hour etceteras) and try to sell it wares... iron bowls... clay pottery... etc... those are decent items to sell and make a quick buck. he won't have money but if you check that often you might squeeze 30-60 copper out of him regularly. I've probably made close to a gold from just that one trader (in strongbox)
  13. your improvement on his skills across the board are truly impressive since you have taken it over... i compared it to the old skill dump when you bought it...
  14. i usually offer 20% of whatever i sell to my trader... I think thats pretty fair... you can find your own way to make whatever you want and let me sell it now wurm is no longer boring. ;p can work whatever skill you want however hard you want i still take flak for it from some but hey its better than nothing ;p i still pay for all kinds of odd jobs... and i dont usually pay for dirt cos i like to dig... 35 alts... all at 20 digging... 2 mains with 70ish digging on freedom... one at 80 on epic... i never got paid a single iron for my digging soon i'll have to pay someone to spin yoyo's and put on puppet shows for entertainment =] maybe a deed greeter when you walk on deed they greet you... give you a gift bag... ask if you need help finding anything offer assistance with wounds or food and water... maybe with nearby animals that would be an interesting job
  15. This is totally true and actually helps support rolf... but you can get decent body stats from doing the work and raise your own skills doing the jobs ;p and i feel good when i don't need to buy stuff with real life cash... this is a free game... i have 3 traders and plan on buying 3 more in the next month... and ive still spent 500 real life dollars on the game however you do it... just make sure you are having fun. ;p i try to offer a wide variety of jobs... doing anything that i need help with. I love the audacity of some villagers though.. saying they expect to be paid to do anything on the deed... bricks chopping farming whatever... like yea... i have a huge place already built for me... im giving you high quality tools armor... some traited horses and willing to help you out any way we can and oh yea... the terraforming id like help with happens to be your future house and the other villagers buildings... so yea... let me fork over money to you to help build your place... cos i am already self sufficient... ;p those villagers make me want to say screw off if they do get paid slave wages... they definitely arent slaves... they are doing work that benefits them... and the village around them. I rarely charge people for anything and would prefer to play without an economy and only using barter among role players... logging in and getting nothing done but having fun rather than exchanging money back and forth for stuff we could/should be working on together to benefit everyone. the community is what you make it.
  16. I agree with the desktop but i play in a stupid semi truck that is low on space and ventilation... but i really crave the power of a real PC... i cant find a store with my computer in stock and it wont be shipped to my house in time.. so im looking at desktop alternatives now.
  17. The only thing that would change my mind... would be considering a desktop... but i play in a semi truck... and yea... I just don't see that working too well.
  18. we all know computers are our lives... 10k is nothing Processor Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz) with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology Microsoft Operating System Windows 8 Pro Memory 32GB DDR3 1600MHz SDRAM (8GB + 8GB + 8GB + 8GB) Hard Disk Drive 256GB SSD (Solid State Disk, Serial ATA) 2nd Hard Disk Drive 1TB 2nd HDD (5400rpm, Serial-ATA) Graphics Controller 3GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 670M with Optimus™ Technology Optical Drive Blu-ray Disc™ RE with SuperMulti DVD±R/RW Double Layer drive KeyBoard Options Glossy Black LED Backlit Tile keyboard Display 17.3" diagonal widescreen TruBrite® TFT LCD display at 1920 x 1080 native resolution (FHD) Wireless LAN & Bluetooth® Intel® Wireless LAN (802.11b/g/n) + Intel® Wireless Display Ready* + Bluetooth® v.4.0 I've decided to go with the best computer from my past... Qosmio from Toshiba. Just need to wait a week for it to be customized and shipped to me. 3k not bad comes with win8 pro and office and junk. but yea I know first hand i loved Qosmio first time around. That was a cheaper version. ;P This should bring me quite a smile. for many Wurm voyages to come!
  19. So I'm in the market for a new computer for gaming.. preferrably under 5-10,000 usd. Though 1-2k would be more reasonable of course. Games I plan on playing... Archeage (when its out), Diablo III, League of Legends, Wurm Online. I also Watch movies via Hulu and Like listening to music... Now Obviously I need a system that operates all of these quite well... I want to be able to run on maximum graphics and not lose a beat. Also I typically will run somewhere between 2-4 clients currently of wurm... use to be 8-10... before version1.0 I would like to be able to run 8-10 again... on maximum graphics if that is at all possible on any system... I also tend to run diablo and league of legends in the background... and watch my shows with constant alt tabbing... yes terrible for skill gains on wurm but hey I like to have options at my fingertips Most computers Seem to have the same problem with me running this hard... Fans overheat and stop working. It has to be a laptop as i play in a semi truck. So.... Let the talks commence! What would you guys suggest I look into buying for my 2013 Computer? If it isn't terribly expensive it doesn't have to last too long... 1 year or so... maybe more... if its over 5k I'll plan on using it for atleast 3 years. probably more. =] I use USB for headset/Mouse and Prefer a full keyboard built in but I don't mind using another usb for an external ergonomic keyboard. =] Thanks for your time!
  20. I currently run 2 prems at a time... sometimes 3-4 overlap each other but its mainly 2... I plan on running 4 eventually it really depends on my freetime and job... not so much about the money spent... i acually had planned on 9-10 premiums... for those epic batteries... but.... Maybe that would be engrossing myself a little too much in this game.. specially with archeage around the corner
  21. yup easy... months of jobs to get the initial 50s and once you have it you still have to make items of value and keep the trader active daily for it to keep getting funds. If i stop playing for a week or two and come back that trader will have made no money and the ratio will be back at 0.0 so it requires i stay active in the game... and that i visit the trader every day or two to keep it active... and instead of going to work on pvp skills or take part in raids or whatnot i have to go mine or chop and craft items of value to sell to that trader... and technically i could make more money per day raiding 1-2 deeds per day than i could from owning a trader... but we dont talk about that... and i for some reason thought you had lots of money already protunia... you don't have a single trader of your own after all this time?
  22. Personally all the money i have had from traders ive put right back into buy more traders/deeds and the money going to traders just disappears to rolf really making the silver in the economy that more worthwhile i would think... even half of deed upkeep disappears from economy for good sooooo i dunno that we are all hording gold... and the extra that i do get... from the trader no matter how it got that money I actually now distribute to new players that wouldnt get it otherwise... cos people would be draining the traders with alts anyways all day long the way it stands right now... So they make people have incentives for doing work on jobs to pay for premium... gives them a goal almost like a quest in the game while they get up stats/skills making them productive... gives help to the mayors who need bricks and dirt and stuff for the deeds... I think they are pretty useful and beneficial. That's just me though. Personally I don't know how much my traders make because I have a hard time trying to make items to sell them... play too much on epic and not enough on freedom. Traders on epic are super balanced... Cos you can always obliterate whatever deed they are on... and take them over for yourself if they dont disband with the deed... freedom is eh... what if you spent 200s on 4 traders on a freedom server... say pristine... when its super busy and you think it might stay that way... then a new server opens and everyone leaves pristine for the new server... now you have 4 traders making very little money because there arent many active players on the server anymore... so the guy saying it was kinda like stocks is kinda right... in a way I originally wanted to get one trader to pay for premium on my main... this was over a year ago... so far im still buying premium with real money and the whole "trader" game is like a mini game in wurm gives me purpose but i haven't really used any of the funds on premium or anything in the game worthwhile yet. I just keep reinvesting it. sorta fun. But ideally after all this time and work it will be nice to know that 2 years investment will pay for my main... a few priests... my deeds... and then i can help new people with the extra silver ill have to help them get started on their own deeds and buildings to make wurm a more civilized place wish decay off deed was a little lower...
  23. Dont buy a trader if ur new someone else might steal it... and you won't even know what happened. plus i doubt you have 50s if you just started and aren't wanting to dish out money. If you plan on playing for 6+ months or more though I'm a great buddy to have in wurm. by the end of 6 months you should have your premium taken care of for life with a trader on a deed of your own somewhere perdy
