Sorry about that - you're absolutely right. I do realize that if we all went off on a tangent in this thread, it would become a complete mess. My problem is I do tend to get carried away whenever the topic of a) sitting in Wurm or UO comes up and all common sense is lost! . As not to completely hijack the bridges thread, I've edited my post to be less "intrusive". I hope it helps a bit

Thanks Verotika And yes, sitting would be lovely indeed. Then players could actually get serious about creating true player establishments such as taverns, pubs, restaurants etc! Oh how I dream of something like that! Here are some lovely memories from Ultima Online - none of these scenarios could have properly happened without the ability to sit. Inspired by the amazing ways you guys have been making arches for buildings, I decided to make myself a winery.
  4. Since this thread refuses to die out and people seem really enthusiastic about this, I've sent a message to these guys. Let's see what they answer.
  5. How many keep checking back to this thread to check if bridges are going to be added? :-)
  6. I voted "No" on all accounts due to the fact that I too, am a hermit. There are a million reasons why people would want to go it alone and I would absolutely hate to see our ability to do so compromised in any way. We do not need "incentive" to play or live together and if the game somehow tried to force us to do so by giving us a weaker experience than our social counterparts who were getting "advantages", I for one would actually just leave the game. In fact it's the very fact that Wurm allows me to enjoy a relatively equal experience to the social players that makes me love this game so much - unlike so many other MMOs out there. Reasons why people like to play alone: They have very busy RL lives and due to their lack of activity and attendance, do not want to be a burden or hindrance to their fellow players because they can't be around to take part in "what everyone else is doing together". I would hate to have to feel guilty logging on and apologizing for not being around enough! They have families that demand their attention on and off, partners who need them to help out or children who climb on their laps, babies who need to be put to bed, toddlers who want a banana etc. Trying to play with people in an MMO while all that is going on is horrible. In all simplicity they prefer their own company over those of others. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. They have very hectic demanding lives IRL. Their work places demand their full attention, their friends and family demand their attention and help, so logging on after the day is over and the kids are in bed and the partner is watching their favorite show - gives them the perfect opportunity to enjoy some "alone time". How relaxing to do a little crafting and listen to the birdies chirp and the forge crackle. No one asking anything. No one needing anything. They've had bad experiences with people who let them down, griefed or swindled them and have come to realize that the only safe way is the loner way. They have some emotional or physical medical condition that hinders their ability to "be social". Perhaps they cannot write properly on the keyboard, perhaps they have some quirks that others find weird, perhaps other people make them anxious. They want complete control over their environment. For some, this may be very soothing that they can control at least "something" in their lives if their life is very chaotic and unpredictable The list goes on and on and I'm sure others could fill in yet more reasons. But the point is that under no circumstances should the game change in such a way that tries to "convince or force" lone wolf players to play with others. They have their reasons for their playstyle and this needs to be respected. In the same breath I'd also like to say that I'm all for making mechanisms or tools (instead of benefits or advantages) to allow social players to come together in a more safe and convenient way. It's great that the game offers the possibility to enjoy a social experience as well. In fact a friend of mine wants to bring her workmates to Wurm so they can make a village together and I was advising her how to do that today. So social people, go forth and multiply and enjoy your social lives, just don't force us loners to come along.
  7. Oh and here is the suggestion I made a long long time ago as well, complete with gif animation to boot http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/96645-private-message-tab-should-blink-non-stop-until-tab-is-opened/
  8. +1 Yes please, around 80% of the time I miss messages people send me. Have the blink only for private messages and have the blinking stop once the private message has been opened at least once.

That was hugely interesting, thank you. Since this is the summer of bug fixing, I hope they do something about this.
  10. It's absolutely true, and here is proof. Me running through a forest for what seems like forever and not seeing a darned thing (well except for one rooster). This is southwest Xanadu. https://youtu.be/nYKWqSCHNjU?t=21m16s
  11. As I was saying before, I'd be absolutely delighted to make the reskins for free if the original assets were provided to me. From what I've understood, Wurm has a lot of things built by the players as well? Can anyone tell me how this process works, who I need to contact etc? Understandibly, this is not only about some extra skin files, but to get it working in the game would require the coding side as well and for the game designer to decide whether this is something that would impact the "balance" of game play and also to design the circumstances under which such spawn happens. For instance, it would need the extra effort to make it so that some of these colors would be rarer than others. Something I think that would be fun as well is that some colors would be genetic mutations - colors that come very very rarely and do not carry over with breeding. It would surely add a whole new element to the value of horses and breeding. Would be so much fun!
  12. The best Wurm dragon picture I've ever seen! This should be part of their marketing material

  14. Thanks for taking part in the conversation and voting in the poll everyone. You all bring forth very good points indeed. I do agree (which is why I mentioned it in my original post) that sometimes pushing the words would actually make it look even weirder - like you say Kianga - it's a mixed bag. Anyhow I just thought I'd just see if the overwhelming Wurm population happened to be in unison on this particular topic in one direction or the next and while not "overwhelmingly", it seems that the majority however enjoy the names just the way they are. And Tipper it was nicely worded from you as well that it's one of Wurm's unique "quirks" and I agree.
  15. Oooohh! Quite a coincidence then! I'm glad I caught them as I think it made a nice little moment of wonder in the video.
  16. Aw so nice to see this is being used by people. I added bridges, the new marble planter and a few other small fixes. Something I want to experiment with is planting and getting proper pictures of all hedge types once spring arrives back to Xanadu. I only recently realized that they can be from many different sprouts and have a different look!
  17. Great video again guys. Love listening to you guys chatter while I'm Wurming and look forward to each new episode. I agree, no automation. It has a high risk of changing the way the game feels. Sure, "the grind" sucks, but it's exactly the fact that we have to do so much work that makes the end product so rewarding. And yes, UO players is our target audience. A shame you missed out on that back in the day. You'd have loved it, I'm sure. And about creating a group experience - well UO was really good in that respect. For instance UO had this treasure map system. You could fine treasure maps of varying "quality" - which were dropped from mobs or fished up from the sea. Low level maps were very common, high level were very rare. You had to find the location based on the coordinates and the map also showed a small portion of the area with a pin on it. Upon finding the rough area, you would start fine tuning your search with your shovel and your character would do a couple digs, then give up because it was not the correct spot. Upon finding the correct exact spot they would continue digging and eventually a treasure chest would rise to the top of the ground. In this image you can just see a steel chest starting to show up as he digs. As the chest started to emerge, monsters would spawn and you had to kill them off to continue or be killed! Here you can see the same guy fighting some spawn as he investigates what was inside the chest. Low level maps could be soloed, however the higher the level, the more people would be needed to join in to help kill off the spawn. And of course, the higher the level, the more juicy the chest and it's contents! At the end, people would divide the loot among themselves. It goes without saying that these were hugely hugely fun and engaging to do!
