  1. If it's making room for another skill, surely Warhammers could just be slotted under the Mauls skill, remove "Hammers" and that's still a new slot free?
  2. Bump because of the warhammer thread having the merge stuff come back up
  3. Craftable warhammer, with ten times the spikes of the Chaos hammer of mag. In general there's already a lot of better cleanup that could be done elsewhere rather than gutting another PvP feature.
  4. When you're doing it in public, I'd consider it less of a courtesy at that point. You're not talking privately to some people who can make something happen, you're publically putting them on a soapbox they might not even want to be on. I question how much Drogos even would approve of this, given I'm also part of the same Discord. Drogos is fantastic, he's a good friend and I respect and appreciate his work on Wurmnode and beyond. But putting them out here like this, with questionable consent of it, makes me feel uneasy to say anything other than this feels weird. In general, I'm also against making staff applications a popularity contest. Drogos name isn't unknown to the staff, and if they feel a spot is open for him, I'm sure they'd reach out, now or in the future.
  5. Grats mate, very well done. Very bloody well done, even
  6. It's new if you want to hyperfocus the point in supporting one singular narrative, rather than looking at the entire situation. Is it a skin being sold exclusively for silver in the silver store? Yes. Is questionable value for skins something new? God no. Part of this argument is aimed at the simple value for money, and that's what I'm talking about. The cost it's at currently as it stands is beyond silly and it'd be beyond silly to keep them at this rate going forward but we'll see. As a side note I feel it's incredibly questionable that an item is "discounted" and then when the "discount" expires, the item isn't in the silver store at all. It's incredibly shady because we all know exactly what they're trying to do.
  7. This isn't a new thing. This is the exact same cage I rattled back in October 2021 when I made the point stuff like lantern skins should be multiple use since smaller decorations are rarely used as a singular deco piece. Let's not shoehorn in the current CEO and the worries we have about it into this situation when it's nothing new or different.
  8. Not to be that guy, but have you restarted the client since? I had to download an update an hour or so after this was posted
  9. They are in the process of hiring for the role. I can't speak for how soon it'll be resolved, but it's happening.
  10. It honestly feels more like putting down a statue without having the proper foundation for the ground below it. The lack of CRM and someone who has a deeper role in consideration of social media platforms is showing. Wurm doesn't need a Tiktok editor specifically. It needs a video and maybe even image editor. It needs someone who make make high quality video edits with footage provided from streamers and official sources. Sorta like some big document outline I wrote up to support an application I made . The moment streamers realise their stream content is being chucked onto Tiktok and they don't get something out of it they feel fair, the more it crumbles. This would work perfectly hand in hand with something like proper VEN support. Streamers get their reason to do regular streams that break the mould of repetition. That generates content that shows more unique or funny elements to Wurm. That goes onto Tiktok with proper, full credit. Both sides profit. And if the content doesn't fit the actually fairly specific mould of Tiktok, we have another place to post it like YouTube. Also the amount of staff who actively view streams (that are public, this isn't a sweeping judgment!) is low. Who's going to clip or record these moments that are going to be good to show off? Who does quality control? There's an entire pipeline to this and with the lack of people in the roles that'd make sense to have doing that, it doesn't really show this is as deeply thought out as it could be. This can't be a system like benefits only those with already sizeable communities, as it just leads to a feeling of unfairness for those without the numbers. tl;dr we need actual video editors for multiple platforms, not just one platform, and there needs to be a proper foundation, system and process to make something like this work at all. As it stands, the idea is there, and I like the sort of proposal it's going for. I just think it needs more consideration and attempted at a time that makes more sense. Right now isn't the best of times. Also oops, edit just to say that this might not even be official!
  11. Added, thank you for letting me know and providing a schedule
  12. "A holy site of Magranon has been found and activated!" tell us nothing when we've got two holy sites for each god. Just change "holy site" to a fitting name like: "The otherworldly monolith of Magranon has been found and activated!" "The glowing fissure of Magranon has been found and activated!" "The wishing tree of Fo has been found and activated!" Etc etc
  13. A large chunk, if not all of this, really falls onto something a community manager would do. We've had various levels of transparency over the years, but at any given point there should be the ability for someone to be able to push themselves out into the wider community and take questions, provide answers and otherwise work to keep the playerbase up to date.
  14. Funny thing, when I made that post about wanting to take on the community management role that was talked about before Demona left the team, I was directly looking at what Jace was doing with Satisfactory and seeing what we could do similar to them, and what we can shake up to make work for Wurm. Of course, I got a reply from Krister and radio silence since...
  15. There are a lot of guides online on how to do this. You can even set up a dual boot, which I'd advise doing since Windows on a handheld like the Deck isn't optimal.
  16. I'd guess they exist as a half mode concept piece by some devs. The rub with the situation is, it was a Samool piece of work, announced when he was product manager. He then stepped down for health reasons and then came Keenan. Whenever there's a product manager change, I can't help but feel some bits and pieces get put to the side and sometimes never touched again. We have Samool back now, so maybe we'll see them?
  17. Honestly I don't mind the idea. I don't care for it, I'm not sitting up and swinging for it to be a thing. But it's alright and hardly breaks anything. It's not automation when in reality you're changing it from multiple keypresses, minimum 3 per rack, to just a single selection on a rack that takes a bit longer. With the slow dance towards mechanics that make the game less click intensive, it seems kinda nice to be able to do this. I do question why the hell you'd sit and spam the life out of the planters though. It seems pretty silly so long as you're willing to pay at least a bit of attention to how many of them are left. For real, just bind pick to something and mouse over the stack without feeling the need to jackhammer the key.
  18. I've yet to see free players even very well aware of the RoTS benefit but I see your concern even if I've not seen it. Diminishing returns isn't a bad idea given some of the structures I've seen around. Fortnite Island on Cele was a good one, shack about 5x6 just for someone to lava grind, mag altar inside, it didn't actually rot away for over a year despite the owner being on another server for 90% of that year. Though honestly I'd rather walls just continue to be repaired like normal because at the end of the day you can't really combat Mag altars locked away inside them, and with bridge structures too, it seems a lot better to just have them continue the same and nuke fences from being repaired.
  19. Shaft fences only is a nice idea actually. Generally you'll see the rift and unique pens use that quick and easy shaft style fence, so this is a perfect middle ground when we have offdeed areas that use fences rather than walls, such as: Anyway, Sometimes not the easiest or best solution. A few times I've had altars locked away in buildings keeping a larger area fenced away, even if it was open to the public. Really though it's what that part of my post is there for, allowing us to also perform exorcism on other whitelight gods altars.
  20. Following on from something in GL, I'd like to suggest we change the Ritual of the Sun effect. Currently fences, structures like walls and bridges are repaired if they're in Mag domain when a Ritual of the Sun is cast. Sounds good? Well, it's not all red roses. For fences: We already have enough issues with rift safety pens, and mag altars can make this issue worse. It goes from "we can wait for this to rot over the months" to "okay who knows when this will rot, the mag altar will repair the fences and if someone uses that altar, there's a chance it gets repaired." I say remove the RoTS repair effect for fences. Totally. Fences aren't something that need massive levels of protection, given that most of the time when they're offdeed, they're of temporary use. If you want to see more reading of the rift pen issue, please check out this banger of a thread: For walls: This is where it gets a bit wonky for me. I've had plenty of times where shacks have protected mag altars, or lasted forever because of mag altars nearby. I wouldn't lose sleep if the effect was removed for walls, however bridges have structures to support them, which would be a miss for a lot of people if they were to go. For bridges: The repair effect could be kept for bridges, there's no real issue with that. Though there's a very big issue with bashing bridges to remove them, but I already did a thread about that and I can't be bothered to bark up that tree again. Ultimately decay seems very tiny on bridges and not all that common so long as they're used but I want to hear others and how they feel about it before I sit on that stance. If we keep the repair effect for walls and bridges, I don't think there's a need to replace or add anything to the rite effect. Ultimately removing fence repair from RoTS helps keep our landscapes clear and free of random pens that take a year to rot. Some random ideas to help in the fight to keep areas natural and free of manmade horrors: Allow other gods to exorcise Mag altars even if they're whitelight. Limiting it only to Lib is a bit of an issue. Maybe best kept PvE only, just in case. Give us a mechanic to promote removing your fences. Maybe just let us take back a percentage of the materials. You keep your safety net, but also have a reason to not let it stain the landscape forever. Maybe it's worth looking into bridge decay and the rate at which they decay while we're just spitballing ideas. Also as a side note this isn't me saying every offdeed fence is evil and awful. But the ones that linger around forever in random spots. They scare me.
  21. Gonna start this off by saying, let's try and keep this thread to those with an interest in the health of PvP servers and their future. It's all well and good having an opinion, but there's better places to kvetch about PvP issue this, that, dead, fake, never existed. Not the place, we're not interested and you'll hopefully just be ignored. Anyway... Making this thread since the idea was put somewhere and I frankly cannot find the thread. In the midst of all the conversation about server health being weird, or in a state of flux because of the massive fragmentation caused by a large number of servers and two clusters, PvP'ers pointed out a similar issue on their end. You're railroaded to either: Chaos if you're on SFI, or Epic (lol) Defiance if you're NFI It doesn't sound bad until you realise that we're splitting an already smaller community apart for no real reason anymore. Sure, Defiance was great to start with because it was a totally, completely fresh playing field and introduced a new rule set. That's damn good. But now the skill levels are very similar, is there a need for the split? We already have two servers in a fluctuating state of activity, and one cluster dead. Some of us in the PvP community would like a consolidation of the playerbase in order to try and keep activity up. It'd be a lot easier when we have all our people on one place. A higher playercount really means we're more likely to see random activity from roaming, a better contest for HOTA, and a bigger playerbase to pick your side with. This is the place to discuss the idea because really it's gonna be a hot topic with a lot to talk about. Such as, but not limited to: Portal or sailing? Maybe both? Do we keep Defiance rules? Do we totally abandon them? Do we keep some and ditch others, replace some, add some? Raid timers, keep or bin? Changes to HOTA mechanics? Server composition and setup? I personally prefer the idea of a portal, I feel PvP has the potential to be better when it's less of a commitment for most. I enjoy my time on Chaos with the guys, but I still have dumb Freedom stuff I like and want to do, so sailing over, changing my gear, getting a hellie, gearing it up, the entire thing just feels a massive chore and it honestly makes me want to go to sleep. A portal cuts a lot of that out, but I know it's not a perfect or ideal solution for most. It does have its own drawbacks. Yell away, tell us you miss challenge and want the classic idea of Epic to actually be done this time around or something.
