  1. OK, so, good info there. Thanks. Guess I won't bother investigating in never-deeded areas. I've also switched back to the trowel and yes, I do believe I am getting somewhat better fragments with it. Still no more clues to the caches, though. My deed area (which is over my former deed and the very old previous deed) is pretty thoroughly built out, though, and there isn't very much available in the way of "outdoors" tiles. I'm actually considering tearing down some structures to open up more tiles for Archaeology, lol.
  2. Thanks to both of you for your excellent research and investigation of the Archaeology system. I'm a long-time WURM player but have only really gotten serious about archaeology over the past year or so. I'm currently at 69 arch / 63 resto but I'm on Epic so that's 90 / 86 with the Epic curve. I have a deed that I built on top of an older deed, so it's good for arch. Also I had a "whoopsie" moment about a year ago where my deed money ran out and it undeeded for a few days before I could get back online and re-deed it. At the time I was pretty annoyed by that but maybe that's actually a good thing in terms of archaeology, lol. I have a few questions / observations about arch: I've been skilling up by grinding arch in the areas around my deed.. I have a wide, flat sand perimeter around my deed so I've been using that. Though those areas have never had a deed on them so I suppose that's why I've been getting a lot of junk. I notice that a lot of the frags I find off-deed are auto-identified whereas the lumps I get on-deed are always 'unidentified.' I suppose that's a factor of getting the frag from a formerly deeded tile vs. a never-deeded tile, and not a factor of doing arch on a current deed, right? Junk items. My chests are overflowing with branches, pegs, tenons, stone bricks, and shingles from arch. I'm hoping for more useful stuff. Tools (NOT 'crude'), armor, weapons, etc. How do I influence this? From reading your guides, it sounds like (a) limit my investigations to only formerly-deeded tiles, and (b) use high-quality tools. What do you consider high-quality for these purposes? I currently have tools in the QL 60-70 range. Would you recommend imping these? Also I'm wondering if a gold rune of libilia (+10% QL to materials harvested) might improve the quality / content of arch items? Any other tips to get more useful stuff and less junk? Also you mention that investigating with a shovel might lead to capped frags. I've been using a shovel for a while, is that possibly influencing the number of 'junk' frags I've been finding? If I go back to a trowel will that give me more useful items? Nearby deeds: I've been getting notifications of other nearby former deeds. I'm eager to go looking for them. Both are described as "very far to the southwest." Any hints as to how far "very far" might represent? Caches: I'm having a heck of a time gathering enough clues to score a cache. In a year of archaeology-ing, I've found ONE cache. My arch journal has two reports in it currently, one for the old deed that was on this area and one for my deed that got briefly undeeded. Both reports say I have a "decent number of location markers and reference to nearby landmarks" but still not enough to find the cache. How do I optimize my arch to find the caches? Is looking on the former deed vs. looking off-deed nearby a factor? You mention above that reports can be 'completed' or 'located.' Where do you see that? Thanks again for your assistance and info.
  3. TunnelBear? Never heard of it. Do you have a step by step guild to assist people who are not VPN-savvy? Ok so if VPN'ing through a non-USA country solves it, then I'm guessing WURM uses a special packet-switching server to route USA traffic and that server is having hiccups? (I'm in west coast USA myself). Just a theory.
  4. Oh right. I should say what server I was on. Elevation (Epic cluster).
  5. Hi folks... anyone else having super lag issues with WURM yesterday and today? Been having a delay between one and five minutes when clicking on something and performing an action, even a simple Examine action. They game is unplayable today, right when I had a nice big block of time set aside to play Wurm. What gives?
  6. Time to brew some Kahveesi and bank up the sleep bonus!
  7. Interesting. But in my case, this persists for my entire gameplay session - a couple of hours last night. Pretty frustrating.
  8. That does appear to be what's been happening..... last night it got me up to 5 of my 6 actions on the queue, eventually. But never 6. Also oddness is that with the crafting engine I can queue up 3 actions, and get them going, then hit the button to add another three actions, and those will go. But if I try to fire up all six at once it'll give me the "you're too busy (x3)" message. And this has only started in the last couple of days. NEVER noticed anything like this before. Something must have changed in how WURM handles the action queue.
  9. Nope.... just bruises on the torso.
  10. My action queue used to hold six tasks; now I can only manage three at a time. What gives? No, my premium didn't run out. Any other ideas? Was there a patch that nerfed action queues?
  11. Born in 1970. First learned to program in BASIC on a TRS-80. first played "Advanced" D&D in 1982. Started Wurm in, I believe, 2008. Stopped playing for a year or two twice but always came back. It's a great game and as others have pointed out, there's always something to do.
  12. Hello, Long time WURM player here but I went to go update my main account recently and could not log into my account on the shop to do so. I clicked on the "reset password" link but I never received a password reset e-mail. (yes, I checked my spam box.) the web site says if you do not receive a password reset within one hour, contact a game master. Is there an email address I can send a request for assistance to? Or what's the riht channel in game to request assistance via? Thanks, Michael aka Boolean aka ragadorn aka Zephyr40k .
  13. I have an existing house that sits very close to the rock layer and I am trying to expose the rock layer in a two-wide strip around it so I can surface-mine it down to create a trench around the house. I have found that in some areas I can dig right next to the house to expose the bare rock right up to the house, but in other areas I cannot. I get the message "the house is in the way." What gives there?
  14. Anything special about the fragment?
  15. So, I got my potted flowers, and the descriptions mentions something vague about "improving the mood of everyone who sees them." I thought this might mean they give a buff to nearby toons, but didn't see any icons to that effect. Anyone notice them having a function, or are they strictly decorative?
  16. Did that change since 2015? I seem to be able to re-cast courier on my turrets now.
  17. I am interested in the answers to these questions as well, esp. as refers to archery towers and turrets. Thanks.
  18. Hello. I'm on Chaos and am exploring the use of Turrets. I see this on the wurmpedia: Must be 10 tiles away from another turret. However it does appear I can load active turrets into a wagon and haul them around. Then I can unload them next to other turrets without any warnings or other negative messages. How does that work? If a turret is too close to another, both will appear to be working but simply won't fire when a PVP enemy comes around?
  19. Hello, I have been considering making a deed on Chaos. I want to protect it as well as possible. In perusing the settlement entry on the wiki, I saw this: "If the founding tile of the settlement has a house or fences, the token is moved to a random spot away from them. " So what if I build a 3x3 house with a hole in the middle, and place the token in the hole? (A "donut" house.) Will the token stay there, or will it be randomly displaced somewhere else on the deed? I guess my question is, when the wiki says ""has a house or fences," does that include if any edge of the tile has a house wall on it, even if the tile itself is outside of a house? Thanks.
  20. Erm… lol? Not where I was going at all with that. But OK. These changes would not necessarily 'encourage sitting' as you assert, it would encourage changes from standing to sitting and back. It would also make currently-cosmetic items in the game have some in-game usefulness, if even an extremely minor one. OK so cut those suggested bonuses by half or 2/3 if you think that's less "OP." Basically make it on the same level as affinity bonus / faith bonus / sleep bonus. And no, after over a decade of playing this game I don't beg devs. Cool it on the histrionics.
  21. It would be nice to have chairs etc. have some kind of minor, yet useful, function. Maybe something like: 5% boost to healing rate while sitting/reclining 2% boost to skillgain when crafting while sitting 6% boost to nutrition / satiation when eating while sitting 5% slower Sleeptime bonus use when sitting 1% increased chance of rares when crafting while sitting What do you think? Perhaps even do something similar to the settlement bonuses that get bigger the longer the settlement is continuously established. So the longer a chair sits in the same spot the more the bonuses are? Of course, a chair would have to sit in one place for several RL months for a noticeable increase in the bonuses. But that could be your "crafting corner" or whatever.
  22. I'm intrigued.
