  1. I'm personally wary of having this added to more items, because it creates the opportunity for the player to accidentally misclick and destroy things they didn't mean to. At least if they just chuck things on the ground, they a) can pick them back up if it was a mistake, b) they'll decay pretty quickly, and c) scavengers like myself enjoy picking up goodies others have decided not to keep. If wurm ever adds the ability to discard butchering products, for example, the amount of free meat and hide and other bits I get to bring home would diminish greatly.
  2. I think it's here: The topographic lines follow a similar shape, and it's one of the only areas up there devoid of roads enough to be it, while having a similar topographic shape. Wouldn't say over 95% sure, but that's my best guess.
  3. Some people also would like the maps wiped for a fresh start. Both of these are extremely controversial ideas that would generate more departures from wurm than anything except maybe the server corruption 15 or w/e years ago.
  4. Fair. If alcohol still worked, and the jewelry enchants were *easy*.
  5. Some of us don't like wearing armour at all, it would be annoying to me to have to wear a full set of armor for doing foraging/bot, especially if it had to be heavier armor for higher difficulty. I really don't like the armour idea at all. Gloves aren't a tool, though, they're just a vector for the enchants/runes. I also really dislike this, because it just pushes the barrier for skilling the skill up even higher. Where before you could 'just forage/bot', now you would need glove enchants, jewelry, and jewelry enchants? No thank you. A food-based approach would be vastly preferable, especially since even crummy alcohol is very easily accessible to nearly all players, so why not simply substitute it with something like Bitter Tea, that clouds your mind and makes it difficult to concentrate on things. No, you're not drunk, you're not consuming anything alcoholic, and you get the same difficulty affects as alcohol, without having to carry around multiple sets of gear, or pay for jewelry and enchants.
  6. This is really nice to see. I've been a big fan of this patch, and it's really nice to see that some of the biggest issues raised are being seriously addressed. The foraging/botanizing while mounted one comes as a little bit of a surprise to me, but very welcome. The snow tweak was badly needed though, so thank you.
  7. Thank you for making it public. And big thank you to the dude who found it. I remember seeing it in chat and thinking, 'whelp, rip another unique' lol
  8. My experiences in my years of wurm have been the complete opposite. I have never once been chased down by someone on pve who was hiding near an important feature like the WL altar on elevation, with the express interest of killing people, regardless of whether the fight was fair or risky or anything of the sort for them. I have never had someone figure out when I was usually offline on PvE, and then specifically attack and drain my little deed on PvE like I have on pvp servers. Noone in pve tries to level your entire deed because they think it's funny to provoke a reaction, I saw this happen numerous times. I've never been threatened by someone that if I keep harvesting fruit in a public area that they consider theirs, that they and their friends will kill me every time they see me, something that I also had happen. People try to lay claim to non-deeded resources on pve, yes, but they often don't get so toxic with their ways of addressing disputes to those claims. You mention that people give out armor on PvP, sure, but people also constantly try to give things out to help new players on PvE too. If you're at all friendly and talk and ask questions, there's no shortage of people willing to give you 70 studded armor, 2 or 3 speed horses and other animals, basic weapons, even tools and enchants free, at least on NFI. It's not quite the same as on PvP where people will try to gear you up completely, but part of that is because people playing PvE want to progress for themselves, too. It's not toxic to not overwhelm someone with free stuff and deny them the experiences many of us got to have as new players that got us hooked on wurm, just like it's not toxic to give them gear to enable them to get into combat quickly on pvp.
  9. - The pvp player culture is one that I find very off-putting, whether that was on Epic (desertion) where I started, on various WU servers that were even briefly popular for PvP (like revenant), on Defiance when NFI released, and even the pvp section of the WO discord. Players who seek out a gameplay style that is fundamentally structured around conflict between players has a very reliable tendency to attract players who enjoy destroying other players work. I don't enjoy playing with these players, and when I'm on PvE, there's fewer of them. - I don't enjoy having to manage risk when I'm not online, or cannot be online. On a PvE server, if I cannot login for a day, or a week, or do not feel like doing so, my animals and deed and vehicles will be as I left them, provided I have payed for upkeep, and not simply left things on the ground off-deed. I never feel like I have to be on at a given time, or risk losing something I've worked for. - I enjoy developing infrastructure, my deed, and locally area in ways that I find aesthetically pleasing, not in ways that are as difficult and tiresome as possible for enemy players to get through, and these two aspects are in direct conflict as a zero-sum game. - Highways are disabled on pvp servers, which cuts my ability to trade by wagoner, which I enjoy, and my ability to build bridges and highways (notably, bridges protected by highways, that I know will last indefinitely). - The politics and popularity contests that surround kingdom offices - The wurm community on any given server is small enough. Having it fragmented into several different opposing kingdoms reduces the amount of people I can talk to, trade with, help out, etc. This is only a partial list, but I feel it's more than sufficient.
  10. -1 These are the only place that we can reliably get snow anywhere near my deed now.
  11. If someone is annoyed by you being in their local looking for snowballs, they're a pretty ridiculous person.
  12. This is the frustration I'm sharing as well. Snow is slower now, but it's exponentially worse if you're in a hilly area with not a lot of easy access to wide open areas. Where before one modest sized steppe area could load our larders, now we have to travel considerably further distances, due to the dramatically larger search area required. I just don't feel like this is well-balanced in consideration of players who have chosen to settle somewhere that isn't surrounded by quick access to a large amount of gentle terrain.
  13. I'm 23 foraging skill and 18 botanizing, I'm averaging around 80-85ql on my snowballs, and my highest are 99.5-99.7 so far. 90-95 are quite common for me. It seems incredibly convincing to me that Ostentatio is not lying when they say: "and snowballs have nothing to do with skill, like before" on discord
  14. -1, it doesn't make sense to me why moss and weeds wouldn't grow on a paved road running through the wilderness
  15. +1 I don't think garbage piles is a good name, and rubble is already taken for foraging so that would just be confusing, but with decent names and a variety of different types of nodes, and maintaining the best loot only showing up in nodes that appear on former deeds, this is a great idea and I wholeheartedly support it.
  16. Bug: Having multiple active maps with the exact same tracking location breaks the coordinate data sheet generated #REF for map number for both the maps with the identical coordinate result. (I have 2 maps at the exact same guard tower) A map entry is generated, but it is labelled #REF! ErrorArray result was not expanded because it would overwrite data in N22. Also, is there any way to expand the map? I'm on 1440p with fairly large monitors, and the map itself is fairly small for me. Here for example, the map numbers are entirely unreadable, and I can't figure out any way to distinguish between them? Thank you for all this work!
  17. I haven't seen this before and didn't even know what I was missing. The first actual good wurm meme.
  18. I have no idea what the post was, but I respect the recognition, genuinely. I don't even sign in to reddit on my phone because so often there's something I want to say, but the effort of having to login to post it is enough for me to step back and go 'no, that doesn't really need to be said' lol.
  19. I truly feel bad for the devs working on wurm sometimes, because while no MMO has the perfect community, or is free from drama, or has devs that can do no wrong, and while there have been many valid and fair complaints from players over the years, I have never played another game with such a vocal resistance to any change to the game, as Wurm has. Wurm has over the years become defined by a vocal minority's staunch resistance to any attempt to improve the game, and then beyond that, trying to downplay all the good things that the devs have added over any given period of time. It doesn't take much of a search on the forums here to find posts by people claiming that nothing has been added to the game in the past couple years except skins and moneygrab ideas, and then when those people are proven wrong, they shift the goalposts, double-down, and continue to complain.
  20. Ah, you're alive still! Your poor animals look like they've practically all starved to death, we'd been wondering if you hadn't quit. Where do you live normally, over on Harmony?
  21. Over the course of the past 2 years (month or two I guess), I've neglected the herd of pigs in my cave to build THE GREATEST MOUNTAIN BRIDGE HIGHWAY WURM HAS EVER SEEN! (This statement cannot be verified at this time, but I'm going to stick with it anyway until someone shows me one better, at which point I will claim the other one to be photoshop and maintain my position). While I am still in the process of further decorating and cleaning up the route a bit, you are forbermly formerly formidably formally invited to come have a look, wander up the bridge, explore, see the view, heck, fall down the mountain for the full porkchop experience if you want. Come see the majestic pepto-bismol pink unicorns stuck on the bridges (until they get murdered, I guess). Come get bit by bears and spiders that clip through the bridges to attack while you're distracted. Hop off your wagon and get dumped off the side. It's all a great time, and if you make it to the top, there's the added bonus of getting to come back down again. Details on bridge count, total height gained, and other mildly interesting facts to come. Screenshots to come, but please share your own, if you think they're pretty! A good starting point can be found here, just follow the torch-lined highway. The approximate route, until I can draw something better. Commonly asked questions: Is it free to visit? Absolutely. What was the highest masonry required to plan bridges on the route? 88.5 I fell, can you help me get my corpse back? Lmao Why not just build a tunnel up the mountain like everyone else? Wurm is about creating our own goals. Some people enjoy skilling and getting titles. Other people enjoy pvp (allegedly). Others like decorating fancy homes. I like building bridges. Why do you care so much if I come visit? My personal sense of self-worth is dictated by the validation of others for my efforts. Wurm is a social game, come experience a player-built landmark! 22. Having such high base requirements isn't good for wurm. Everything craftable should be craftable by 50-70, with 90+ skill being useful for imping stuff up more quickly, or to higher levels. Making something 90+ just makes it so the majority of people will not be able to make it, even at a rudimentary level.
  23. Pros: Kinda funny I guess? Tons of ore? Easy lazy hunting Cons: Large amount of existing tunnels at various heights will cause headaches Canals and Highway tunnels will block your path in a bunch of areas, not to mention the various deeds Very selfish idea that makes the map not useful for people who actually want to live on Melody Running around in an endless cavern sounds really boring and depressing
  24. Whether that was the intention or not, snow has gone from something where 'if you see it, you can interact with it' to 'that's just a tile decoration and you can't actually get snow from snow, anymore', and I think you'd be hard-pressed to find support for that, as opposed to resource nodes where the team took something invisible, and made it gatherable in visible places.
