  1. It costs 50 silver coins at trader and you can immediately drain back 12 silver coins, so I guess is a downwards auction starting from 38 silver coins or equivalent in euros / dollars.
  2. Well, to be honest, I don't like these extreme bridge options; they look way too weird and unnatural. Now I don't say we'll see a lot of these (as we didn't seen a lot of extreme ugly multi stroy buildings), because most people in here have very nice building taste. Yet, even the fact they are there, seems a bit wrong to me.
  3. Probably too good computer for a game running on java and afaik taking advantage only of 1 gb of ram per process and not multithreading. I get around 20-30 fps with an old dual core, 2 gb ram, nvidia gtx 430, windows 7 home. So if it would scale up you should definitely be way higher. On the other hand, I'm quite sure on your computer you can run a lot of game instances Later edit: And yes, the game is not really free to play, it is more like a endless free trial. Although, you can actually earn coins in game (by selling trash things to tokens or working for other people) and pay for your premium time with in-game coins (10s for one month of premium). However I totally advise against this and here's why: http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/91594-earning-coins-working-in-wurm-online-possible-yes-worthy/
  4. When you unpremium the skills are temporarily downgrade back to 20 and you can't keep increasing them. However, when you repremium they return to their old values. For example: - let's say you have 34 digging - you unpremium, the visible and effective digging skill will be 20 and you can't increase it behind this, but the behind the scene one is 34 - you die once and you loose 0.25 skill; the visible and effective digging skill will still be 20 and you can't increase it behind this, but the behind the scene one is 33.75 - you repremium, the skill returns to 33.75 Second question... theoretically dual... but wurm really is about processor more than about video card, so shouldn't matter (much).
  5. Later edit: Please close; this is no longer true since a while - both bought and sold quite a few coins since then. Hello, I just try to sell everything that was left on the deed from the guy that sold me the deed (since I have this dumb rule of not using any item / mats I didn't crafted / gathered myself). I don't expect to get the fair price they worth, especially since I try to sell them in bulk, so all I want is 40% of the normal price. So here's what I have for sale (and the price I saw for these wares at bulk merchants - remember I charge less than this!): * the most big / important items were italicized so you can fast scan them * - 27 iron lamps - 7 * ql ~45, 2 * ql ~40, 8 * ql ~30, 2 * ql ~15, 5 * ql ~10 3 * ql ~5 - valued at 2.7s totally - 21 hanging copper lamps - 5 * ql ~50, 1 * ql ~45, 9 * ql ~20, 5 * ql ~15, 1* ql ~10 - valued at 4.2s totally - 13 hanging bronze lamps - 1 * ql ~45, 1 * ql ~40, 3 * ql ~35, * * ql ~30 - valued at 2.6s totally - 25 fence bars ~20 ql - valued at 50c - 4 iron ribbons ~20 ql - valued at 4c - 565 rock shards ~30ql - valued at 56c - 615 clay ~45ql - valued at 61c - 160 dirt ~60ql - valued at 16c - 30 tar ~30ql - valued at 3c - 69 logs ~30ql (pine, cedar, chestnut, oaken, maple, willow, cherry, apple, walnut) - valued at 41c - 26 planks (cedar, brich, maple, cherry) ~25ql - valued at 5c - 28 shafts (cedar, pine, maple) ~30ql - valued at 4c - 26 wood shingles ~30ql - valued at 4c - 418 cotton ~55ql - valued at 63c - 77 wemp plants ~25ql - valued at 30c - 121 reed plants ~25ql - valued at 12c - 5 oaken sprouts - valued at 25c - 108 other sprouts (grape, apple, pine, cedar, maple, walnut, linden, lavender, chestnut, firwood, willow) - valued at 108c - 708 bronze lumps ~15ql - valued at 283c - 141 copper lumps (53 ~25ql and 88 ~67ql) - valued at 56c - 64 iron lumps ~55ql - valued at 25c - 20 tin lumps ~40ql - valued at 8c - 7 steel lumps ~15ql - valued at 3c - 631 pumpkins ~60ql - valued at 63c - 325 cooked meat ~55ql - valued at 65c - 99 green graps ~30ql - valued at 20c - 97 corn ~60ql - valued at 10c - 12 green apples ~15ql - valued at 2c - 8 olives ~15ql - valued at 2c - 12 bsbs - valued at 180c totally - 2 fsbs - valued at 30c totally - 6 rafts - valued at 48c Plus quite a few other things I didn't added here (animal parts, furs, hides, a set of studded leather armor, a few tools, a few weapons, etc). Sources for price estimation: this and this So totally, everything in this garage sale (summed up) seems to value 25.27s, but instead all I want for all of these is 10s, which represents less than 40% of the price of these reputable bulk sellers. The only condition is that you take them all. Pickup from waterfront location on Exodus. If by any chance you come to pick them up on land, I can provide (for free and not wanting them back) three large carts and 6 horses.
  6. - About switching forum accounts, well, as I already said reason for this is simple - I always wanted my forum handle to reflect my character name, and since I quit a few times already and sold out my characters, every time when I returned and I started over with a new character, I wanted my forum name to reflect the new name; I asked forum moderators for a name change first two times, but their answer was "not doing name changes, just create a new forum account" which is exactly what I did; further more, I always mentioned either in the about me or in the signature, my old accounts, mentioned birth date, location and used pretty much the same avatar - is not like I ever tried to hide it or something - About character and forum names it's a matter of preferences - some like strong, mighty names, others (me included) like the more angelic ones - it's just about what everyone feels that reflects their personalities - Except Sweety's avatar which is a public image from the internet of a little angel, I only used my own pictures as avatars, so saying I'm "overly cute" it's just a compliment (although I don't really feel like that and, unfortunately for me, guys from real life don't seem to think it either ) - and if you have any doubts, I can just lift them for you, having a short chat via skype / YM web cam - I never tried to make money out of the game and I never did made money out of the game; I just tried to find ways to finance my game experience without spending real life money; I never sold coins and everytime when I sold my characters / deeds I only asked the amount of money I had spent on them so I could "break even" - About most of my posts and ideas, they followed quite a similar pattern (somehow communist if you want): I don't like rich people, I don't like veteran people holding on their advantages, I don't like people living (spending 6+ hours/day) in WURM, I don't like people taking advantage of other players (like asking them to do bulk work for trash payment), I don't like people making real money out of the game out of other players, I don't like trader drainers and I don't like people spending a lot of money in game and turning it into a pay-to-win game. So I tried to come with solutions, ideas, suggestions that would reduce the gap between a new / casual / poor player and an old / veteran / rich player. - And yeah, since the price increase on May 2nd, I don't like Rolf and Code Club, so I also tried to come with ideas how players (especially the casual ones) could try to bend the rules in their favour (bend, not break!) so they can get the most profit out of their money and put less money in Rolf's pockets. That was all I tried to do (I assume the fact that I may have failed, but that was my intention).
  7. Later edit: Please close; this is no longer true since a while - both bought and sold quite a few coins since then. Hey everyone! I'm looking to buy around 50 silver coins; is anyone selling? Cheers, Alex
  8. A few thoughts about the so called "privacy" thing and a possible solution to handle this, as well as "grievers". Personally, I can't see even a single reason why a deed shouldn't be on the map - founding a deed is public information, walking over deeds tells the deed name, looking at dead token says even the mayor name and number of guards. Even more, I think that the more detailed a map is, the more helpful it is - finding out where you are, seeing where you could head to find some undeeded space, etc. Yet, some people seem to prefer to not have their deeds appearing on community maps, and far now, the general consensus among all curators of community maps was to not add deeds without mayor approval, or at very least remove them if requested. And we all know how reluctant wurmians are to any changes. Then there is the problem with "grievers" - people adding false information, spamming the map, deleting / renaming / changing locations or roads. And, while personally I do trust that this public editing thing could work (just liked it worked for wikipedia or our own wurmpedia), it is true that having anyone editing / adding privileges may bring some problems and turn into some chaos. That's why I come with this suggestion: At least for a while, limit the number of people that can add / edit items on map to... dunno... three - five people per server (trusted both by you and by communities). People wanting their deeds added would still post on the community map threads, just that instead of one person doing the edits on their own computer and uploading a static image once in a while, there will be five people who would do that, directly on your site, and the changes would be visible for every one instantly. This way we could have the best of both world: the security given by the fact that only trusted people can make the changes and the advantage of having a map which is updated much more often and doesn't depends of a single person. This should also generate more trust among the naysayers, so the chance that the map will start to be used more widely is higher. Over time, if everything works, more people could be given editing privileges and stuff. What do you thing?
  9. Just wanted to confirm that the registration / login system works.
  10. Disclaimer: One thing I love about WURM is that it gives us all the possibility to play it the way we want it - there are tons of things we can do, but none we have to do. So the goal of this topic is not to try to force my point of view to any of you, but just to present you a different perspective which you may (or you may not) seen before. If, after reading this, you will still see things differently then me, then is totally find, and I will totally respect your point of view - at least at that time I will know it is an informed one. Nobody loves to spend (real life) money when we don't have to and there was always a true mirage for FREE things. So it's no surprise that quite a few of us try to see if we can't earn our premium, deed maintenance and maybe some extra coins in game, without spending any money from our wallets. And the truth is that IT IS POSSIBLE even for a player that just started - either that we talk about selling useless items to tokens for free coins, about doing bulk (low qualified) work for other players - like brick and mortar, or about selling the lucky rare we just crafted. I saw people earning their premium time in game and I even did it myself with a few occasions. But there are two question: - Is this really FREE money / playing? - Is it worth? There are a lot of cases when selling things is a really legit, worthy way of earning money - selling the rares / supreme items you craft and which are not giving any huge advantage, but are nice collectibles for the rich people, selling the items you craft anyway while grinding the skills you want to grind (for example what would a farmer do with Ks and Ks of crops which will start stockpiling while grinding farming or what would a smith do with hundreds of knives he would create and improve for skill gain), etc. But I don't talk about this - selling whatever items you happen to get while grinding and playing the game the way you like. I talk about working specifically for money, doing boring, repetitive jobs hours after hours (that other people can't be arsed to do, so they hire you for that), many times with low skills, and many times (in cases of free players trying to earn their first premium) without even gaining skills (because you are already capped). Is it really free money? Yes and no... I mean yeah, you don't have to pay a dime, but you pay with your time... and let's see like how much of your time... and I'll take in this example the case of three of the most common jobs for low skilled players: making bricks, making mortar, digging - Making bricks: takes two action (one action to mine, one action to create the brick); mine always succeeds, while for bricks with low skills and low ql tool you have ~50% chance to succeed, so that actually means like three real actions. With a total timer (for all three actions) of around 50 seconds (if you don't queue), that means that a newish player, can make like 72 bricks per hour. Please note that in real conditions, you will make much less than this since there is always wasted time between clicks, wasted time loading and unloading, wasted time transporting the shards / bricks to BSB, etc. Considering that the average price is of 20i per brick (2s per 1k), it results that you're making like 14-15c per hour (remember, in optimist conditions). - Making mortar: takes two action (one action to dig clay, one action to create the mortar - there is also the action to dig sand, but considering that it is consumed in much lower conditions I ignored it); digging always succeeds, while for mortar with low skills you have ~50% chance to succeed, so that actually means like three real actions. With a total timer (for all three actions) of around 55 seconds (if you don't queue), that means that a newish player, can make like 60 mortar per hour. Please note that in real conditions, you will make much less than this since there is always wasted time between clicks, wasted time loading and unloading, wasted time transporting the clay / mortar to BSB, etc. Considering that the average price is of 25i per brick (2.5s per 1k), it results that you're making like 16-17c per hour (remember, in optimist conditions). - Digging: I will presume in this estimation that you're digging and selling clay. It is true, dirt is easier with leveling, but it is consuming the resource, you have to move a lot and it takes much more space in cart, so on the long run I think you end up working more than just stay in one spot and dig clay. Takes just one which always succeeds, with a timer of 15 seconds, which means that a newish player, can make like 240 clay per hour. Please note that in real conditions, you will make much less than this since there is always wasted time between clicks, wasted time loading and unloading, wasted time transporting the clay to BSB, etc. Considering that the average price is of 10i per clay/dirt (1s per 1k), it results that you're making like 24c per hour (remember, in optimist conditions). We can easily see that, even not counting time spent on transport, load, unload, find a customer, make the sell, eventually help with loading / unloading in boat, not to mention potential delivery, maximum potential for a newish player is to earn around 15-25c per hour. On the other hand, an older player, which is skilled and has access to better tools would probably be able to earn double, so around 30-50c per hour. The true exchange rate of a silver is not the one present in shop (1.6 euro / silver), but around one euro (either we talk about buying from gold sellers [and I don't talk here about cheapest ones] or buying using this little trick). So, making the translation in real life money, this means that maximum potential for a newish player is to earn around 0.15 - 0.25 euro per hour, while an older player, which is skilled and has access to better tools would probably be able to earn double, so around 0.30 - 0.50 euro per hour. Now ask yourself a honest question - would you even considering working for such a "wage / payment" in real life (even more, consider that you're having to pay the electricity bill too )? If you would (can see cases - very poor countries, students not being able to get a job, etc) then all's fine. If you wouldn't, maybe next time you're offered a working contract in WURM, you will consider just say NO, work just a bit extra (or skip a McD meal) IRL, buy the silver you need with RL$, and spend all your gaming time just having fun and doing something that pleases you, not doing the same boring, repetitive tasks that other people can't be arsed to do. PS: I never made the exact math till today, when, while I was completing a 2k bricks + 2k mortar order and, being bored like hell, I was just curious to see at least how much money I save doing "slavery work" in game, instead of having fun. And when I realized that I work a full hour, for the price of a single cigarette (make the math if you don't believe me ) I just said NO THANKS, this is the last time I do this. Really, I can almost bet that even a beggar has a better pay out than this - lol.
  11. WOW! Just WOW! And not only talking about the look (which is anyway WOW), but about the fact that you actually did listened to our complains / suggestions! You ROCK!
  12. Sorry... bid is not getting where I was hoping for (price checks done on Freedom and GL-Freedom indicated a price of 20-30s), so I just decided to keep it for myself.
  13. Sorry... bid is not getting where I was hoping for (price checks done on Freedom and GL-Freedom indicated a price of 20-30s), so I just decided to keep it for myself. Beginner's luck... just got this baby... Not decided to sell or keep, so I will just try to see what I can get - if I feel the price is right I will let it go, if not I will keep it Starting bid: 5 silver Minimum increment: 1 siver Buyout: taking private offers Reserve: hidden Sniping protection: none
  14. Archaed, The very arguments were told when Wikipedia appeared - masses can't be trusted and there is no such thing as an accurate encyclopedia without an official curator. Yet nowadays we are where we are with Wikipedia being better, more informative, more accurate and more actual than any other Encyclopedia maintained only by a selected group of people. Not to mention out own wurmpedia, which is maintained by a team of volunteers, not by a single person which curates any information. Really... I think we should be a bit less control freaks and just give more credit to the community as a whole that it will be able to solve the potential problems that might (and will) appear.
  15. BOOM! Level 25 Grats and props anyway BTW, what about making a WURM Online group in there so we can interact ones with each others and, why not, maybe attract some people towards WURM too if we make it a nice group/community.
  16. Thank you, Jberg! I really hope others will find it interesting, duplicate it and enjoy the benefits. Because in my case it certainly help. And due to its nature (long action timers when queuing actions), WURM is the first (and only) game which I'm not playing also for fun, but also because it goes so well with exercising and because, indirectly, it helps me have a better health and a more toned body.
  17. Nice tool Thank you for making it And as a suggestion, although I DO save skill dumps on every exit, I agree with the others that said that it would be nice if it would also analyze the skills log for people who don't have skill dumps.
  18. It looks really nice, but just as the other people had said, it looks a bit too "clean" and wouldn't really match with our other textures. Maybe that would work for a marble one, but not stone. So, unless you intend to remake the textures of our houses in the close future, please adapt it a bit so it looks a bit more "worn" / "medieval".
  19. Still many people organized impalongs over time and that never happened, isn't it? And that stands as a great example of an event that copied, improved, modified, and it is still a great event that is appreciated by everyone. So why should we be paranoid and think that this will happen with the DoND or any other even type and turn down people who try to make it work? As you said you don't have an alt on the new cluster; this means that two whole servers shouldn't have the fun of a DoND game, just because you was not there? If that's not selfishness I don't know what it is. Just let it go... see what people do and if you'll catch some one doing it wrong, cheating, scamming, etc - uncover that specific person and let them (and only them) face the consequences. It's just like the people organizing community maps on the old servers would have been against people organizing community maps on the new servers - what if the new ones would have been unserious and would have ruined the reputation of the community maps? Doesn't that sounds a bit ridiculous? Really?
  20. My reasons are a bit different of the other ones heard here. While most people posting in this thread seem to have come here because they found other games too casual for their taste and they founded here the more hardcore experience they were looking for, I came here because I found the other games too hardcore and found here the casual experience I was looking for. And I already imagine you all raising an eyebrow and asking "Wurm? Casual? You must be kidding." And yeah, that's true, with my average play time of around two-three hours per day, I will never get to be one of the best fighters, master crafters or professional terraformers. But the nice part is that I don't have to - I can just play the game casually, almost never leaving my deed, never trading, using just what I can craft with my character's own two hands and ENJOY IT. You may laugh and you may say that this is a blasphemy, but for me WURM is just Farmville 3.0 - I tend my fields, take care of my animals, plant and cut some trees, build my little farm house and my barn and enjoy a quiet evening on the lake shore, relaxing after a hard day of work on the farm. And I'M HAVING FUN while doing it. And I think that this is the greatest think at WURM - that there are many things one can do, but no thing you have to do. And if someone with a playing style as weird as myself (because let's be serious, doubt anyone else sees WURM as a game similar with Farmville ) can enjoy the game and have fun in here, then everyone else can.
  21. Just curious of two things: - was Deal of No Deal your original idea or just your adaptation in WURM of someone's else idea ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deal_or_No_Deal ) ? I guess the second... - if it is as I think, and it was not your original idea in the first place, have you asked for their permission to use it in WURM? I guess not... although, unlike you, they actually probably have legal rights over the game And there is really a big difference between copying some artwork or copying just the idea behind it. Really... let it go... WURM is just a game, it's not a place to try to get prestige or recognition... just have fun and enjoy your time here. Cheers, Alex
  22. Later edit: Please close; this is no longer true since a while - both bought and sold quite a few coins since then. Hey everyone! I'm looking to buy around 20 silver coins; is anyone selling? Cheers, Alex
  23. Actually got a private buyout bid (25 euros) and transaction is pending completion now completed. But thank you for the fair warning.
  24. AFAIK GV characters don't get deleted, but I wouldn't take the risk - lol.
