  1. First we need actual rules that go beyond "determining intent on a case by case basis" .... something that'll effectively guarantee that favoritisms and/or grayzoning are locked out. 'nuff said

Retro, you're working under the assumption that everyone checks the forums at least once a day, yet many of those people may use the same password on forums and on games for general ease of remembering it. The launcher's "news" window would have done the job too. Here, let me write it for you: Fellow Wurmians: A security breach has been detected in our forums. We are still analyzing the data, but right now it would be very irresponsible of us not to inform you as soon as possible of this new breach. Please go ahead and change your forum passwords, and if you have not heeded our warnings already, do not use the same password as your game avatar! Ta-daaa! Everyone can see it. After all, this MAY be more important than the Hammer of Magranon....... hmmmmmmmmmmmm...........

  10. Heh that quick chat on Xanadu's Freedom chat showed quite the trend, including the part where people were disappointed because Xanadu isn't BIGGER due to the code having trouble handling it.

    *Throws a penny in* I favor the "over the hill" model, meaning if you DO cut across one, you try to keep the sides around 30 slopes or less so that a cart/horse can leave/enter the road at any point without getting stuck. When there IS an option.. some spots yeah just gotta cut through. *edit* And flat transversal borders ffs.... FLAT.... FLAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAT... because my OCD that's why. Granted, I own a shovel so nothing that can't be fixed on the go

I do agree for the EDGE servers, ones with 1-way path to Xanadu, adding a "teleport screen" for THOSE.... so east Xanadu "release or pristine", west border "inde, deli, exo, or cele"... where pristine puts you at their SW corner, inde SE corner, exo and cele NE corner. I'd go more for specific crossing points at north and south edges but can see where the code would have the server grow legs to kick the programmers in the generations. But if someone crossing borders at East Xanadu gets the option to teleport across to inde-deli-exo-cele ...... WoW CLONE!!!! step 1.

  15. Major -1 If you can't handle the distance, pay a hauler (such as myself, yes it's a business too). Wurm isn't an "teleport" MMO, add sea teleports, might as well go all the way and add a few land teleports of different nature, write a few arcane symbols on a clay tab, bake it, break it to teleport all over runescape-style....... heck let's all move to WoW =D

  18. The spawn cap argument is a bit flimsy...... I can move my 8 pairs of breeders from Release and just keep the line alive mostly for personal use........... OR........... I can capture another 10 pairs to total 16, breed them like rabbits, and start refining a 5-speed bloodline again from over 100 horses. Personally i'd rather cough up 50c-1s per horse to "generate a writ" or "become the owner" (as if it were a boat) in order to take them to Xan. *hint hint* (No, I don't like having yet more stuff to pay for, but I'd see it as a necessary evil so people only cross their main animals, not every chicken goat horse dog bear lemming and politician in sight)
  19. -1 soz Hauling's my business, which keeps the ***minimum*** "realism" factor needed in sandboxes like this one (in this case the "realism" being that anything is a business, like irl). As for sailing and winds, agreed with everyone, "light breeze" is too frequent and too long-lived since we're discussing realism, making it go from an "inmersion factor" to an unnecessary annoyance factor instead. ^ THIS .. the harder the trip to grief they have, the less gray zones they have to con the GM's with.

  21. Well, griefing is now case-case basis, "intent" being the main determining factor.... Someone strips someone else's perimeter down to rock layer, it's clear griefing but "i needed the dirt" kiiinda grayzones it. Gathering several hundreds, or thousands of dirt just to drop on a canal and surrounding roads, destroying pavement, making signs to plant... Griefer gets no benefit whatsoever, no profit, no raw material gain, no skillgain (FC from signs, got more exp staying home making more signs to imp). CLEAR griefing for the purpose of griefing someone, person responsible should be banned as I for one can't see a single gray area in this case.
