  1. I need to grind out armor smithing so while you can expect to see me I'm not sure how much help I'll be. I'll bring some of my own iron and attend just since I've never been to an impalong. I have a dream of making 50ql bronze armor some day so metallurgy is also on my list. I'll be coming sometime later today and handing out free chain boots
  2. I'll take back what I had to say about Vox since he was mature enough to apologize and not antagonize the entire community. While I do have utter disdain for those who act without thinking, I have equally high respect for those who calm down and learn from their mistakes. If you want to know how not to forum look no further than this thread. Sometimes It's better to just stop posting and think your actions through for a while. On that note I recommend everyone leave this dumbass alone. Toxic players -never- shutup if they have a podium to stand on. So I'll be following my own advice and vacating myself from here. Best of luck to you all, especially the GM team since they have a mess to handle now.
  3. At this point I don't even care if he or is not the player of suspicion. I do not know about the previous issue and I have nothing to say on it. My issue is that vox is acting childish and immature in that conversation log. If he wants to be taken seriously you have to act reasonably, not threaten to start kosing everyone. Hes acting like a snobby brat thats had his toys taken from him. Yes its a shitty situation but thats no reason to be acting like this. I have no respect for people that try to bully staff members especially when Theria was really trying to be helpful. If vox has truly been wronged then how do two wrongs make a right? Your post is also not helping the situation and threatening to get back at everyone sounds a little vengeful, but mostly stupid. It's interesting that you accuse me of being toxic whereas you are ready and willing to try and start a massive flamewar over an issue that probably should've been kept private from the start. Making this issue public is only going to make it harder to get to the facts. I really don't care what some keyboard warrior has to say. I have seen my fair share of supposed innocent victims be debunked as thieves and liars by those with actual knowledge of the situation. For all I know vox could have, and probably did, antagonize the situation to where it is now. It seems like vox is too innocent in his story, and his behavior towards that CM leads me to believe he is at least partially at fault. Regardless, the GM's will decide this and not some forum posts.
  4. Theres's certianly something to be said about old players being anti-social or paranoid, but this is just stupid. Clearly even if the initial suspicion was unwarranted I can see why this moron was put on KoS. Obstinate doesn't even begin to describe that conversation log. You say you know how MMO's are, but I seriously doubt that given your naivety. You expect a refund when there is no precedent for one, you accuse someone of being a CM and need to be told several times that he isn't, you accuse the server of being hijacked, you ask for advice and completely ignore it and then you threaten to start a back and forth kos war until you get a refund. Oh by all means leave. Leave and never bother this community again. The internet has enough over entitled passive-aggressive 'adults' with the mind of a teenager. The most ironic thing about all of this? [21:21:36] <Vox> any new person is on kos And supposedly this thread is a warning to new players. Smells like butthurt.
  5. I'd like to thank the GM that banned Tonygreen. Getting killed 6 times by someone on your own kingdom was a real eyeopener on wild. My newbie self was avenged and now I can rest. On a more serious note I'd like to thank- Daolin for taking care of my sorry ass. Twice. Zekezor for the fun I had at black summit. The owners of eastern lights on jkhome. You really helped me settle in and now I can't remember your name :x Old iron hill on wild. It was many years ago and I just left out of the blue without writing any names down. You guys were great in showing me wild. Factional Fight and Emoo for putting up wurm content on da tubes.
  6. We used to have the enclosure rule which was abused to high heavens and was eventually removed. Deed it or lose it isn't simply a monetary pressure. It means we have actual mechanics and deterrents in place to prevent theft and clearly delineate property. If such a power was very cheap or free then it would be abused to the detriment of everyone. Having the ability to claim territory at a cost means that there is a balance which allows legitimate players protection and limits the ability of it to be greifed. It may be frustrating not having a deed and having the rug swep out from under you, but the alternatives are almost universally worse or simply unfeasible. Don't look at the silver cost of deeds as greed. It serves a vital purpose and thats the way of things in wurm. Having mechanics in place is also important as I mentioned because otherwise its just a mess with no clear answer. The tutorial should probably hammer home this point that not having deeded property has this risk, but ultimately situations like this are the rarity and deeds serve their purpose (for the most part)
  7. Quick question have you settled on this particular perspective of top down third person?
  8. Its far better to attempt a kickstarter or indiegogo campaign than to do donations if you haven't already. This of course requires a decent proof-of-concept so that it actually gets you somewhere. I'm not entirely against donations but they wont last you very long. Wikipedia has to deal with this every year and its fairly depressing every time I see that banner. I am no game designer and I do not know the scope of your game development so I will only say this: running on donations alone until your game is properly fit for being monetized can be financially risky. What I've seen so far looks promising. Good luck!
  9. I think that the kind of gameplay that most people play wurm for is the long lasting and meaningful kind. As in your actions have consequences but it takes a long time to achieve your goals. A fast paced action oriented game does not suit the playerbase. Rolf mentioned somewhere that he would perfer a twitch based combat system. This is all fine and good but whats more important is that you actually feel like your working towards something. Challenge takes that away and replaces it with premium time which really doesn't mean too much. I think Rolf would have more success with pvp if he modeled it based off of individual goals. On freedom you are mostly looking to create a badass settlement and/or achieve a high skill in something. Many people sustain their interest in this game through goals like this that are difficult but not impossible to achieve. The satisfaction from achieving these goals can last long enough for another goal to be set. This happens naturally without much 'direction' from mechanics other than an inablility to create difficult items, large houses or high ql tools until a high skill is achieved. On chaos this does happen but everything is more of a community effort. Individual effort is somewhat less important and community effort is put on a higher level. This is great but it also takes away the "I have achieved a goal" feeling that you get since, well, it wasn't just you. One of the things that kept me on chaos for so long was trying to get a high fightskill and becoming a champion. I wanted to have something I could call my own but the emphasis on community effort means that, more often than not, it was hard to appreciate my own contribution since it was so tiny. I am not saying chaos and pvp in general should be less community oriented. I am simply suggesting that for the purposes of increasing the appeal of pvp there should be some sort of goal that is achieved by the individual. Freedom can take a few pointers from chaos as well in the sense that Freedom could use some more community based efforts. In short: Chaos needs more individual focus and Freedom needs more community focus. Just my 2 cents.
  10. What changes would you make to the combat system to make it more interesting? Earlier you mentioned that if it were up to you then you would perfer to see development be entirely PvE. Would you still hold this opinion even if, hypothetically, the combat system was more engaging and the number of players on chaos greatly increased?
  11. This happened to me on epic when I thought having 40fs and full chain was enough to take on 2 wolves. Oh boy was I in for a suprise. RNG decided I had been having too much fun and shut my ass down. No horse to run away on sealed my fate. Do you have any idea how tough it is to find a body in an olive forest? I gave up after 2 days and just worked on getting 21bc for a horse. Wouldn't have died If I had put in just a little more effort and planning but it happens. I suggest leaving it be after tonight. I like to think that getting your ass kicked in wurm just makes victory sweeter.
  12. The MMO market has hit a steady decline for these past few years. Hard to say why but obviously with so many layoffs you really should hold back any hope that EQ next is going to come out ok. They're probably going to give it an annoying UI and simplify the game so that it can work on consoles. This was probably done since they aren't really making much money (hence the immediate layoffs) LoL, Dota2 and CS:GO might be doing well but traditional MMO's are not. The market is finally changing away from garbage WoW clones to garbage Dota clones. Yay -.-
  13. Way to completely miss one of the points of challenge which is to test bugs and new features. Way to also hamfist some irrelevant nonsense about pve/pvp code. This thread is basically saying that any bugs at all are intolerable. Even if the bugs are on the server that was made to find bugs. What a great message to send to a small development team. /facepalm
  14. The idea behind this thread was to shame bad behavior because usually there is very little you can do to punish it (especially on freedom) I think what only some of us have realized is that the kind of person that will hack, flame, lie and generally break the rules is utterly unconcerned with reputation. These types of people do not play wurm for the community. Or perhaps one could say that they do, but instead are obsessed with 'winning' or generally upsetting other people because it amuses them. These types of people are usually called sociopaths or some other variant in day-to-day life. It is reasonable to suggest that some of these ego-centric and rash individuals would frequent some games and generally leave a trail of wherever they go. They also are relatively immune to shaming. Another point completely missed is that the purposes of shaming bad behavior is not to get revenge. It is to encourage good behavior. Whenever I see someone desperately trying to shame someone else It raises an eyebrow. Even if they have proof they are missing the point that if someone is truly shamed then they should also have the opportunity to move past that shame. Make your case (preferably with proof) and shut up already. Some individuals in this thread (I won't name them) really are trying too hard. The idea behind this thread is solid. The execution is whats lacking.
  15. Do you feel that after your experience in Ebonaura that this game is heavily biased towards PvE as some people suggest? Do you feel this ties in with Rolfs decisions such as releasing server after server for the freedom cluster?
