  1. Great update! Best patch notes in a while Except the bugs, but hopefully they are fixed soon.
  2. Custom maps in WU is more important than fixing the game obviously. Bringing in more features, and new bugs, thinning out the player base and developer focus seems to be the recipe for this game.
  3. If WU is not at all linked to WO. How do you authenticate users on a privately hosted server?
  4. Ouch lol, not much trust in Code Club But private servers, how are they going to be more future proof than WO!? Ok, you can host your own server and they YOU are secure because you decide, but the others on the server still have to trust you, a private person to keep them online. I'm not very enthusiastic about WU. Don't really care actually. Guess it could be somewhat good if it brought in some new money, but I don't think I would ever play it..
  5. OP is kind of obvious info. The question is just if it will go as planned or if it will bring the game down. That's the hard part to predict. Personally I don't have any interest in the private servers, unless pricing is completly different (as in almost free to play). I can just ignore Wurm Unlimited though and go on as normal and so can everyone else. Which ever way we choose, as long as we keep playing Wurm, Code Club will get some money. Creative mode as a playstyle looks like joke in a game like Wurm, although it could be a good thing if you want to try out some deed designs before building it for "real" in game. The danger is that you get bored with the real game quicker because you have seen everything in creative mode already and it has removed all the mystery of it. Games like Minecraft and Terraria works well as single player or private server games, but minecraft's strenght is the moddability, runnning FTB Infinity you have almost unlimited stuff to do and learn even though the game is fast paced. Terraria has loads of contents already out of the box. Both those games have very simple graphics, which makes them easy to expand, Wurm's graphics are much more realistic anda lot more work to expand upon. Wurm has very little content, much of the appeal is the sense of achievement after a really time consuming grind or building project. Anyway.. I'm not sure what to think. It's probably a half desperate way to get more money into the company. It might succeed somewhat in that department, but I don't think Unlimited will be a great success. Hopefully it will not hurt the original Wurm too much and might even bring in some more players in the long run if lucky.
  6. Just some things that comes to mind. In no special order. * Tamed, ridden horses should not be attacked by mobs. Make them not able to fight and non attackable while ridden or hitched. Players should still be able to target and attack them. * Many corpses are too heavy. You should also be able to fit more than just a few in a large cart. * Lumps in inventory cool off when the forge they were heated by goes out, unless you log out in which case they stay hot until next time you log in. They should not be affected by the forge once you have them picked up. * Lamps decay very fast on merchants. They should not decay while on sale. * Many strange things occur with putting things into containers in terms of what fits and not. Too many to list them individually as people try to do in this thread. * Traders have stopped giving any income (in many areas). Please let us get some refund for them. Maybe we could convert them to merchants or be able to pick them up and move them? * When building houses you can sometimes add a floor tile or wall but you can't delete it right after because it would make the construction unstable. * Mob distribution on Xanadu is bugged. * Boats have cannon graphics, but we can't make cannons or gun powder. * Training up a priest has been very unrewarding. I feel like my priest is worse now than it was when I started out. Probably because of stealth nerfs during the last few years. It's not fun to see a negative development of casting results the more skill you get. On top of this it is impossible to know which skills really affects casting, * Many rare items do not give any beneficial effects, even though it would be very easy to come up with obvious ideas for what rare would mean to an item.
  7. Nice info Stargrace! What should be mentioned as well is that if you kill one of those creatures up north they pop right back, the spawn rate is very fast. Like you said, even with some hunters in the area the list of creatures doesn't go down much, even temporarily.
  8. Should game mechanics allow theft? NO In case they do anyway.. YES, unless there is an explicitly named exploit that makes it possible. Is theft griefing? It depends on the definition of theft. Naming something griefing might not do much good anyway since it might not be disallowed just because someone got sad. There needs to be rules around this, and there are some, but it will always be hard to enforce the rules. No point in voting since the options are not well defined.
  9. I went out on a hunt to check the spawn yesterday evening. It's still pretty much the same situation. Trolls behind every other tree, hell hounds, spiders... you don't need to travel much to gain fight skills at least, but very annoying when trying to do something else than fighting.
  10. I thought Xanadu was the beginning of an end to traders... I guess not...
  11. No real need for ideas here, it's working pretty well as it is. Make the usage of those weapons a bit more fun instead of introducing new inconveniences. That is my proposal.
  12. LOL, you think enchant decay is bad because it de-values your weapons but then you advocate something that will instead makes them a lot more valuable because they no longer can be crafted. I guess this is one reason that listening to players isn't always a good thing because they are mostly driven by greed and their own profit. *edit* I should say that I do actually agree that enchant decay on weapons is not a nice thing, it's hard enough as it is to keep weapons at good ql and those enchants are pretty hard/expensive to come by. *edit*
  13. Why not just officially name it an exploit for now and then fix it in code when there is time? It would remove all the doubt..
  14. Silly thread, the only things that doesn't benefit all servers are Epic and PvP only additions. All the rest obviously is available for everyone. Why can't PvP players care about design and nice looks!? Just silly. It's not a competition anyway... I don't mind PvP getting some attention. What I think is a bit sad though is that the devs do nothing at all for fighting/hunting aspects on freedom, everything is just new items. New items, building and such is nice, sure, but figthing is a part of freedom as well and it is still as boring as it was 5 years ago.
  15. Grats Nathan! About time /Malaric
  16. The player base in Wurm is very mature compared to other games. Only places that goes bad sometimes are the global chat channels, but you can just ignore those most of the time.
  17. If there are very few traders on Xanadu, I bet you can make a pretty big amount of cash, doesn't matter if coffers are empty in therms of token selling, it's not the same coffers, they are linked but not the same. I really hope this is a bug. It was clearly stated that Xanadu would not allow for private traders, why go and stealth change that!?? And for how long has it been like this? If this is intended it should have at least been in the patch notes at some point. But, I don't get why it would be intended, I think the debate about traders have finally boiled down to a pretty unified community that agrees that we are better off without traders on Xanadu and any future servers that will open. why stir the trader pot once more?
  18. The problem Geode is that there are people just like you who lives up north and hate it because they don't like killing lots of mobs, they just happened to choose the wrong end of the server. It was not like this when Xanadu opened up, so you can't accuse them of making a bad choice. It's just plain bad luck. And this is a somewhat confirmed bug, so, probably if you move now and they fix the bug next week you won't be very happy. I myself like to hunt sometimes, I would be content with a more even spawn across the whole server.
  19. It's all fine again now, let it rest.
  20. Maybe the Xanadu clock is finally catching up?
  21. Yup, I remember it and it was pretty bad too. Huge amount of windows with walls of text and it forced you to do some things rather than letting you do them when you felt like it and in the real game. It got massive criticism because it was ugly and forced itself upon the player. I think it was just out dated and had to go because Wurm had outgrown it it in a way. The new one looks better but it doesn't help much, now it's more like a museum with signs.., Nothing like the real game.
  22. This used to be a problem with the old rug models but with the new ones it has worked a lot better. I would guess it is some new bug...
  23. Agree 100% Bdew. When it comes to the tutorial, there needs to be some action when you start out. Now it's more boring than watching a slideshow with game rules. Fix up fighting. Let new players get a some action from the start and let them keep the skills and items gained during tutorial. Tutorial could be to first kill a rat with a sword, tend your wounds and then craft a shield quickly and kill another rat to see the difference and so on. Then some optional tutorials to choose from for making different things like building houses, terraforming etc. All in the real game world, not in tutorial zones.
  24. In PvE Wurm there is no winning. As long as you have fun or at least get a good feeling of accomplishment regularly you have kind of "won". Personally, I get less feeling of accomplishment or or fun the more I buy with real money. So, for me, Wurm PvE is Pay2Lose. PVP is another story, here I can understand that people buy characters to have any chance at all to get into the game in reasonable time. Although, personally I would rather spend 3 years skilling up my own char before PvP:ing
  25. Eyesgood, some points are valid in your post, but I think you kind of forget to mention the actual game play! If this game had a good fighting implementation, less bugs, better graphics I think more people would stay past the first few hours. Cost, yeah, it's expensive to more experienced players but you can start out with just one char on premium, that's not really expensive. What makes it expensive is that you need one account per character + deeds and upkeep...
