  1. Hey guys, since todays patch the forge has started giving out "smoke signals". Forge fire below keeps going on and off Client: Steam : 4.2.64 (996c019) See video below
  2. F*** i saw it too late and already had 4h 45min on it mwaaaaaaaaaaahhhh 😫😥
  3. Hi, I would like to buy: 2x Body Str 1x Body Stam 1x Body Control 1x Mind Logic 1x Woodcutting 1x Mining 1x Carpentry 1x Cooking CoD to McChill please. Thank you
  4. As per title, i would like to buy 250 Catseye on Cadence.
  5. I will be hosting such server, to give you some ideas and address some of the concerns here 1) Hardware - the hardware will be latest in terms of server tech available (yes I will be using my own funds to sort this out, have done so in the past with other popular titles such as ARK.) The hardware running those servers is top notch and custom built for these games (With ARK I had 80+ people spread across 2 servers and the lag was not noticable, and if it was down to client performance, simply because some PCs wouldnt be able to handle certain size bases and amount of dinos, which was to be expected as the game at the time lacked a lot of optimisation) 2) Admin abuse - Let me just say that while I'll be preparing the server a bit, I won't be playing as much as I will focus on MOD development and server stability over anything else really (plus I will keep playing in WO). Also I have been actively working on some of the biggest MMOG out there (professionally and getting paid by these companies in such roles), where my job focused around Team Management / Team Leader / QA Manager. (yes I have done real GM work in the past). With that in mind I have since grown up and moved industries. I spent 9+ years in the gaming industry and am now a Director in a Company (~7y) that develops backend / service networking technology for many big Telco providers. Any and all staff to be recruited will go through a screening process with me and will have to prove genuinity etc. Meaning people being GMs will be 1) not easy to pass and 2) if you become one you will have limitations. Trust is earned people, just like anywhere else. 3) Focus - The focus will be around the player community and what they would like to see. I will be spending most of my time concerining myself with network stability and backend code as well as coding a proper support system in place, which players can use to open a ticket from in game. Which then can get handled via GMs internal interface and via a web interface. (meaning you wont need to be in game to handle your ticket) 4) Transparency - Any action taking that influences either a single person or the entire server populus will be made public on our own forum, meaning we will have full transparency. Staff will be known to public. Any admin action taken will be made public. 5) Hosting? - The services will be hosted in Ireland to provide good latency to EU and US Some initial statements: - Any griefers will be banned, without discussion (steamid banned) - Rollbacks might happen if some major hack / inbalance was to be found out, such as a gold imbalance (e.g. someone found a way to dupe money) - Server size will be 16x16 at start with multiple simple spawn points setup. - The map shall not reset unless otherwise forced via CodeClub (because of introduction of a function that absolutely requires it) - Server will have its own ticketing / support solution. In the beginning via website, which then later on get integrated into a client interface (meaning access via in game UI). - Backups will be constantly made - No PvP in the beginning, if enough people ask for it we might consider adding an island, very much like Chaos or the Epic isles. CONTROVERSIAL -- Monetization, if I / we endup having to spend a lot more money on hosting / hardware then we have to find ways to compensate. I am personally against such things like cash-shops but if it becomes a necessity then we might provide things such as sleep powder or other bonuses for RL dollars. Again I AM AGAINST monetizing anything if you already paid for the game. Mod plans (in no particular order): - add Crossbow - add more NPC - add more armor types and variants (models) - in-game Ticketing / Supportsystem via UI - An easier way to trade with one another, possibly hire NPC to retrieve goods (have a design doc written up for this) - Steam power and ultimatively steam powered machines (imagine ship powered via steam) With all these things in mind, I hope that we will be able to provide a nice and fair world that people can enjoy their stay in. Focus here is Fair play and enjoyment of Wurm as a game We do not want to limit how people play the game. Anyways I hope to see you all online and looking forward to your creations.
  6. Yes 50 $ is completely unreasonable, despite its gameplay mechanics. People will look at the GFX and will go WTF. For about 7 of my friends (who usually do not play games like these would like to take a look) will only pick up Wurm if it is priced as an Indie title (which it is (tiny dev team, no proper engine etc etc)) so if its anything more than 19.95 I fear people will stay away from it. What we expect these days from a 50 $ game is much much much more. This isn't 2002.
  7. Its still better than U[DONT]PLAY tm
  8. Why would you care for even just a second if PRIVATELY HOSTED servers have player gods or not? Just don't play there if it's a nuissance for you, simple really. If a player actually makes it to become a diety in legal ways, i do not see the issue to be honest.
  9. With those current specs you can easily run server out of your home.. No need for a VPS or anything else unless you want to grow your community...
  10. Nice one Rolf, exactly what people needed to know. 1 Q tho - Will we be able (with availability of API) to write custom server mods that will handle backups and the like? This is one of the first things I'll be working on personally.
  11. What would be absolutely awesome (given enough time ) if I could figure out a way to replace the current 2d based tile system with a 3d equivalent voxel variant. I am afraid Java will be the problem here trying to achieve this But hey Indie Voxel Farm licenses are only 295 USD these days so might start playing with these if it cant be properly achieved within Java. I would absolutely love it. And yes I know how much work this is. (Writing mainly in c++ / php / python) but why not give it a go on evenings spend and hour or 2 trying to do it. I've got ideas already.
  12. Not as much of a hidden cost but yes, thats one part. You see there is a reason I am going straight away for the compute heavy instances. If you do not have the budget to host then you might want to do it with one of those cheap hosters you will surely come across when WU is released. Blackhat for example (or whatever these companies are called) - Do not be fooled, AWS and attached services is fully aimed at Enterprises and NOT private game hosters. You def. CAN use Amazon but be careful because your monthly bill will quickly grow. Now take the example that you'll need a 4GB RAM server with at least 2 vCPU and about 60GB @ ~300 IOPS, then add the traffic (which they will bill you for), then add the HDD usage (which you get billed for), and then add the RDS DB instance you'd want as well, as probably most things are either stored in MySQL / Maria / Aurora / Oracle - so for a service that calculates to around 57$/mo will easily be 120$. So if you have say the bandwidth at home and maybe multiple static IPs you might get away with hosting from home building yourself a nice little server that'll do the trick Since you are already paying for the internet at your house. ==== Example: I have built a server in my house using an i7 5930k + 64 GB RAM on an ASUS MB (x99 deluxe) and have 4 SSD @500GB - This beast currently runs constantly 3 ARK Servers (quite stable with avg 80 players online) + Minecraft Server(s) 1x Ferret Business + 1x Hermitcraft Modsauce II + Space Engineers Server. At the moment the server sits at 19-25% CPU ~ 6-9 GB RAM used on Windows Server 2012 R2 - on a line that has 250 Mbps download and 40 Mbps Upload. This setup runs quite smooth and has no issues thus far. Sits behind a well configured CloudCore Router from Mikrotik that has 16 CPUs and 64GB RAM. Hope this helps. === I guess what I am trying to say is, unless you have the budget to pay for an enterprise service, stay away from it. AWS is awesome, BUT - It costs enterprise dollars - you need to know your stuff, there is no 1 click solution - you'll get a root server and the rest is absolutely up to you, so if you do NOT know how to LINUX properly / setup even simple servers like Apache / Nginx, just don't -- I don't mean to be condescending, just trying to help you avoiding headaches
