  1. And so this happens. Because Rolf is forever flip flopping decisions based on the viewpoint of players. Players are selfish and short sighted and clearly run this game, not CC.
  2. Afternoon bump for shiny rares.

  4. Sun is out and people are spending less time squatting in front of their pc's digging holes in the ground. Some people simply take the opportunity to convert their in game coins to something they can use to buy an icecream or two for their sweetie. No doubt people will return to hoarding for a rainy day once the weather turns again. No doubt a year from now we'll have this very same "Wurm is dying" thread when people start selling lots of coin in time for summer.
  5. I swear to GOD If I don't get a ruff soon there's going to be some serious trouble.
  6. North East where me n mine live is teeming with life. Noticing how crowded it had become of late I venture out for a couple of hours and after putting down 55 Trolls and a couple of hundred spiders, lions, wolves, bears and hell hounds figured we'd have some peace and quiet along our roadways for a week or two. Not so. They seem to be respawning almost as fast as they are getting culled. Not that I'm complaining, of course - just seems atm we're getting more than our fair share of beasties.
  7. The new gods

I'd written much, but this stupid laptop I'm having to use ate it all before it posted. Suffice to say, you seem to think I want nerfed valerie mobs on freedom. I don't, I've said as much, you keep managing to miss that point. I want a challenge, not a loot pinata. That said, that's just me. Freedomers in general wont accept it without some concessions (slower speed, smaller agro range, less frequency as examples of likely demands) but even some of this is probably better than not having them at all. I mean really - whats the point in keeping so much content out of the hands of the overwhelmingly larger portion of the userbase? The only difference between the two play styles should be PVP, not pvp and pve content. Valerie loot? Keep it on Chaos. I don't care. You've said yourself you tend to avoid valerie mobs on Chaos so why the objection to having them in some form on Freedom? Actually, don't answer that as it doesn't really matter.
  8. The new gods

No, no you misunderstand - I don't want them nerfed. I want them as they are but I accept few on Freedom would be 100% ok with this which Is why I offered various suggestions as to what would make them more palatable to the average freedom player. End of the day it's unlikely to ever happen because the vocal minority will always shout it down but it would be nice to put some challenge back into PVE one way or another.
  9. The new gods

On Epic or Chaos you're usually going about the business of stabbing someone in the face, so having them get in the way of that might be annoying if they are spawning in the volume you've suggested. On Freedom nobody is rushing about to do anything for the most part so I believe would be better received as an up scaled challenge for those looking for it and something to tread carefully around if not. No doubt many would have issue with it, so maybe it'd need a bit of balancing (weaker, less frequent, lower overall spawn numbers, smaller agro radius etc) but either way, they are the types of mods who would give those people who shy away from pvp a more engaging pve experience without risking everything on a pvp server. If not Valerie mobs, something new to add to the games challenge is long over due. Bridges, tapestries and shiny new spinning wheels are great n all but none of those things get the heart pounding like a ravenous beastie coming out of nowhere wanting to use your spine for a tooth pick. I dare say there are few long term players who find themselves troubled by Trolls or Hell Hounds any more. We need something between them and uniques to try and kick about. Or be kicked about by.
  10. The new gods

I think it'd stir things up nicely, encourage communities to work together for mutual defense, maybe even end up with mercenary groups springing up willing to travel and deal with these occasional spawns for coin. Clearly it would be a pain for those who become victims but the world isn't meant to be safe. It more or less is now bar the odd roaming unique that is almost immediately penned up and murdered for the unique slaying elites. There's not enough PVE in Wurm any more and it is in danger of just becoming a landscape gardeners wet dream. Id like some challenges between Trolls and Uniques to batter about / be battered about with my friends and neighbours. But that's a different discussion entirely ..
  11. The new gods

Well that's Chaos, not vanilla Freedom so it's arguable that the biggest difference between the two play styles and theaters are the presence of Valerie beats and the missions that relate to their summoning. If there was to be true separation between the two you'd really need to keep the new gods, missions and mischief off vanilla Freedom completely. Personally I'd rather see the valerie beasts on Freedom as an up scaled pve threat than kept locked away forever from the majority of the Wurm playerbase on pvp servers. There should be non unique threats of high (but not overwhelming, al la unique) power so that player groups can deal with them rather than entire alliances as we now get on unique hunts. The real separation should just be whether one player can murder another or not, not restrict game enhancing content from the largest paying demographic.
  12. The new gods

Still a world of difference without Valerie beasties roaming around on Freedom. The new gods don't seem to impact on Freedom in any meaningful way whatsoever so I guess it doesn't really matter whether they are here or not.
  13. [11:23:34] You entered through the portal to Wurm on Luck day, week 3 of the starfall of the Saw, 1006. That's 1824 days, 17 hours and 27 minutes ago. [11:23:34] You have played 339 days, 3 hours and 53 minutes. 339 solid days huh? I think I might have a problem ..
  14. Screen Resolution

I run at 1600x900 in windowed mode as I like to run a second or third account and it makes it much easier to switch around.
  15. Social media has demonised the conservatives massively on the run up to the elections beyond anything I've ever seen anywhere before. Yet, they still won by a large enough majority to govern alone - which was a bit unexpected. It just goes to prove that the people who are sensible enough to vote for them also tend to keep away from the social media soapbox and the endlessly regurgitated nonsense from parties that have an undeniable track record in talking big but delivering nothing but ruin. I wish people would look beyond the end of their noses and try to think about the big picture rather than what suits them best.
  16. Dark isn't dark enough as well. Also, lamps, lanterns aren't bright enough. Plus we need more nocturnal beasties to try to murder you while out in the wild alone at night. Just like the Moomins.
  17. Winters are depressingly short these days. I always used to enjoy the bleak, long winters on Wild back in the day. It was like being in an episode of the Moomins for weeks on end. Bring back longer seasons I say! Just maybe tone down the glare a tad.
  18. It's not their fault, they just vote the way their parents do. Those that bother to go out to the polls when it's raining anyway.
  19. ... close enough in the end.
  20. I think you're missing the point. You can stay on Chaos with your Chaos buddies and continue to dominate and curb stomp anyone you like and if the present population are happy to stay there, great! You can carry on as per usual. Meanwhile, people who don't want that go to this new server with new PMK's and different people and start over fresh without you and anyone else too tied to Chaos to want anything new. It's cool, you know? You don't have to go anywhere. But wait, your opposition is based upon the expectation that your enemies would rush at the prospect of getting away from you. That could be true, we see how MR is and how overpowering it has become so getting away from that is pretty attractive. Who's fault is that, exactly? And hey, if EVERYBODY left to get away from you then you came over anyway at least we'd have a nice clean map to play on and not the ancient, used up mess that is Chaos. But whatever, I think we know your only real interest is the continuation of your preferred playstyle, regardless what anybody else may want or what's healthy for the game. This idea at least offers a reasonable choice to Freedomers. It's your own faults people don't want to play on Chaos with you.
  21. Then why don't you goto Epic, huh? That's right, you don't want to give up your skills same as most other people. Epic is not an answer to established players and trying to send them there for pvp isn't the answer no matter how often people yell it. These are the main issues :- 1) People from Freedom don't want to goto Epic for PVP because they don't want to not be able to take advantage of their existing skills. 2) People from Freedom (not all of course but enough) don't want to go to Chaos for a number of reasons, not least being it's an old, established map (people like shiny and new) and the entrenched player base and play style is not compatible with how the majority of Freedomers play. 3) People from Freedom as well as (some) new players who want to have a go at pvp DON'T WANT TO PLAY WITH THE VETERANS ALREADY LIVING IN CHAOS because they a) Don't know the lay of the land, Don't really understand how pvp and associated politics works on Chaos and c) Are fearful of being curb stomped by vastly more skilled, experienced and knowledgeable players. That doesn't apply for all but certainly does for enough to put them right off. However, a new server where the established and invested Chaos player base are unlikely to permanently migrate to would seem like a better option for Freedomers sitting on the fence but put off by the above. Not only that, these fence sitters get to explore, settle and build like we know they enjoy and will have the chance to do things a little differently to how they are elsewhere. The usual argument against this sort of thing if the whole "diluting the player base". If the players interested in pvp aren't getting into it for the reasons described above you wouldn't be missing them anyway.
  22. What you need is a new map where players interested in pvp but don't want to join Chaos (for whatever reason) can settle with their PMK's or whatever and give people a one time only choice to move to this new server (and forever abandoning Chaos) or staying where they are. Newer folks who don't want to pvp in the old world get to to start in a brand new land along with those vets that want to break from the existing drudgery while those that happy to remain on Chaos can continue treading. As people come in they can decide whether they want to settle on the old and established for their pvp or venture into new territory without needing to play 7 years of catch up. Either way, best of both worlds solution .. you could even throw in a paid server move option on the shop to periodically move those with restless feet. Or something ..
  23. Final map

Great! Now we just need a new Wild map like this and everybody's happy.
