  1. Picking Up Bins

Why indeed. Honestly though I am a huge fan of the "get Rolf drunk and get him to commit to a bunch of stuff" patch - a lot of really simple, long overdue stuff got done. This change in particular negatively affected me, and well, people bleeding to death in my perimeter, and newbies who need stuff but *don't* steal, but the majority clearly like it so who're we to argue. Being able to pick up bulk bins and walk off with them is a massive upgrade to people's gameplay, clearly
  2. Picking Up Bins

uhhh... no? If I make a bsb and move to a different part of the map, leaving it behind, why should it just decay? I know a bunch of people who just quit for months but eventually came back.. The thing with Wurm is, players salvage anything they can from other players. That is why with most items that you make, you have a signature, providing some unique history to the item. Picking up BSBs/FSBs is probably one of my favorite updates this year, by far. Can finally clean up the landscape instead of hours of pushing! Difference of opinion. If you can live with being so blatantly wrong, I can live with you living with it cheers, Shiraek
  3. Picking Up Bins

Had a BSB and FSB stolen from the public crafting area near my deed in the past 24 hours. I have shut down the "Free stuff" operation I had going as a result - if I build new bins they'll just be stolen again. There was a really clearly written sign about them there so it isn't a case of mistaking them for an abandoned settlement. Also they had no damage, dead giveaway. So yeah, people will steal them and have already. Net effect of this change negative IMO so far. The real solution to the BSBs and FSBs lying around abandoned would've been accelerated decay when owner hasn't logged on for 1.5 months same as houses.
  4. actually the logs everywhere are most likely left over from me harvesting high quality wood for my corbita under construction
  5. FYI the free stuff service is hereby discontinued indefinitely. Predictably after Rolf's excellent idea of making it so you can pick up FSBs and BSBs, someone promptly emptied both and stole them. I wont bother replacing them until there is some means of permanently locking them in place. Which will most likely be never. Whoever you are, please understand I have no respect for you whatsoever. And don't try to claim you didn't know what they were for, there is a very clearly written large sign
  6. Silly thread. Tons of land around, there is STILL undeeded lakefront land in the north on Deliverance (although it's fast filling up at last) and truly vast swathes of the interior are completely untouched. If people deed up the entire map Rolf will be able to afford another couple of servers.
  7. Thirteen replies, one was on topic. That's got to be a record, do I win a prize? And can it not be another 12 lectures on why I shouldn't dual-wield?
  8. Sweet, a use for barding! Will make some over the weekend, how fun! Darn I notice there's no plate barding in the game yet. aw.
  9. The above should NEVER influence decisions about the PvE game. If it's going to be a separate issue for PvP then make it configurable server ruleset change. Yes, that is more work, and the price every MMO that has both a PvE and PvP game pays sooner or later.
  10. That's a really interesting result and exactly what I used to see. Weird, I'll do some playing over the weekend and see what I see. Regards, Shiraek
  11. Went hunting last night, nothing attacked my horse. So I suspect it's a bit rarer than our worst fears... I like it. Something to make the hunt one step less predictable, and more of a point to the "tough bugger" and "fight fiercely" traits.
  12. This isn't what I'm seeing post 40 FS. Before 40 the above is true, but from 40 FS onward I'm seeing the offhander hit almost as often if not as often as the main hand.
  13. Sorry guys I must've phrased that in Greek or something. THE NIGHT BEFORE LAST, at the VERY MOMENT my FS went from 39.99 to 40.01, the number of times my left-hander weapon hit went from "almost never" to "almost as often as my main hand weapon". And my question was, has anyone else noticed that happen? Not talking about some patch that happened weeks or months ago, or even the one that came through last night I'm talking about the moment you hit 40FS.
  14. I have two longswords. One has a bit of Frostbrand, the other has no enchantments whatsoever. Prior to hitting 40FS, I found that almost all of the time when I hit a mob, I got the "[03:35:23] Your weapon freezes Young huge spider." message. AFTER 40FS (which I hit last night and immediately noticed this), I find that I get it about 50% of the time. What I think I'm seeing is that at 40FS dual wield really starts to WORK, and prior to that it's nearly useless. Has anyone else noticed this?
  15. this patch is made of awesome and the playerbase should get Rolf drunk more often
  16. Rush you did the whole top bit basically alone, not to mention starting the whole project, having the original idea and being half the point behind it, don't give me that "Shiraek did it" garbage And Niners if you would like to help making it two tiles wide let me know... I hope you're into surface mining and have a secret store of 1,000 dirt somewhere nearby, cos these slopes, they're already flowing
  17. Just wanted to say that both Exiles Gate and Ultimarius are jaw-droppingly awesome. Haven't seen Ultimarius in person but was absolutely struck dumb by EG when I saw it in my first 24 hours of play. Really opened my eyes to what was possible.
  18. Sorry, I lied: This is a shot from the bottom, you can see the road leading up to Ashenheim from the crossroads I was standing on in the first shot. Most of it required some surface mining to make it passable followed by lots of dirt to make the road surface even (not sloped crossways) and then paving with cobble.
  19. Sharing one last screenshot today (I Promise!) Rushmik and I have been working on this mountain pass for a while. It leads from his deed down to the valley floor and Bear Lake to the west. We're just up to paving the last bit going up to his deed (Ashenheim). The whole thing is traversable by on horseback or horse driven cart. Near Ashenheim it also joins Calimdor's road running north along the mountain. Cheers, Shiraek
  20. Fake, sorry, couldn't resist. It's two houses for course, the one behind is up two +20 slopes. Interesting fact though, houses do indeed look to be exactly 40 dirts high. Can't wait. Will cheerfully tear both of these down and build just one...
  21. Actually we went hunting and cleared out a deathpit by single-pulling one at a time. Also this shot is from November, I just forgot to upload it until now.
  22. Updated with shot of cave shipyard in action, corbita under construction!
  23. Reinforcing the walls neatens up the floor and ceiling too, and slightly a bit even neighbouring tiles.
  24. Hereby proposing, if there are no dissenting neighbours, to label the lake in the north "Bear Lake". Three reasons: [list type=decimal] [*]If you turn your head to the left, it's shaped like a bear [*]It's usually surrounded by bears [*]It's usually full of bears Have spoken with all the residents I could find online nearby - Cazic Thule, Mines of Moria, Ashenheim, and some undeeded dwellers, and none are opposed. Have not managed to catch the residents of Argent or Twin Lakes online though.
  25. This is cool. If I didn't have my own merchant stall about 100 tiles to the west I'd join in the fun. Do you guys have a trader yet?
