  1. Scale

We found a plateau that looked to be large enough to support a 50x50 deed, it could easily support a 500x500 deed. The first thing I said to my village mates when I logged in, was that the scale was insane and we've never seen anything like it. We settled on the tallest mountain on Deliverance and were thinking of settling some of the taller mountains on Xanadu. Our deli deed takes about 10 minutes worth of climbing a mountain tunnel to get to the top from the base camp (which is another few minutes walk from the valley below) and these mountains are at least 4 times bigger than our mountain on Deli. There are fields of steppe as big as the largest fields ive seen on other servers.. where they have maybe 1-2.... and there is a dozen of them on Xanadu. The scale is insane and amazing and a true definition of the word "awesome".
  2. I have no problem finding Iron where we placed our new deed, but we also prospected a lot in the area before laying it down and we made sure we had access to a lot of exposed rock.
  3. The amount of hide you get now is negligible, but you do get some other cool stuff.
  4. I agree the time is brutal for pretty much anyone in NA with a job, but it makes sense given where the dev team is and everything else that goes with it. I'd rather have people around to fix things necessary than have it open at an "optimal" time for the NA people only to crash after a few minutes. I do agree that it would have been best to be on a Friday or something and I'd have considered taking time off work if I hadn't literally just come back from a vacation the day before the launch. Bad luck for me, but it makes sense from a business perspective to do it this way.
  5. Is there any way to know the location of the starter towns in relation to the map?
  6. I was away on vacation until today but thanks Emoo! I am glad I could contribute to the glorious campaign!
  7. Dat propaganda doh. <3 Emoo [media]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LiSacT5sPI
  8. While I understand this situation and the want to keep things "pretty", again, you can't have 100% control over everything, even if you put in the work and maintain it, that's just the way it works. While its great that you have cooperation between neighboring deeds, the land in between them is public space and not really yours to decide what to do with (though I can see the impetus behind wanting to make it pretty). If you absolutely need to keep it a specific way, the best thing to do would be to wall it in accordingly with very high quality walls, layered if that's what you'd like. You just have to accept that anything that is un-deeded is at risk.
  9. As someone who has played Wurm since the days of alpha, I have seen this debate come and go dozens of times. The answer to this issue is a fairly simple one and at one time it was already the case, simply "If you want to ensure something stays safe / unchanged / exactly the way you want it, deed it". Period. There really is very little excuse for not deeding the stuff you want to keep to yourself beyond laziness and/or being unwilling to pay. There are some exceptions like harbors / tunnels where you simply cannot deed the entire areas, but these can typically be secured in other ways. Smart, experienced players will always rely on mechanics to protect their property. I have absolutely no pity for the people who create massive hundred tiles farms / enclosures so they can keep an obscene amount of animals or land to themselves and get broken into, because if you valued it enough you'd deed it. Personally, I've never liked people who pen up hundreds of animals, so it's amusing seeing them lament the change when everyone was well aware of what was happening long before it happened, it's not as if you didn't have the opportunity to protect your belongings.
  10. +1 Honestly, this should have been implemented a long time ago, the current system of needing to enchant grass is a pain and feels like a temporary solution. It would be nice to be able to drop a bunch of bales of hay and know your animals wont starve if you need to be away for a week or two. Could make it a crafting item (Bale of Hay) that uses the farming skill for creation chance/ % success, higher quality bales would last longer (with rare/supreme being larger and lasting longer respectively) and they cannot be improved or added to once completed and would instead be consumes over time similar to coal piles (to stop people from making high ql bales and never needing to create new ones by constantly renewing them). Make it require piles of grass + string and is started by using a new item (Pitchfork) on a pile of grass, which is obtained by using a scythe on "tall grass" (could be one tier higher than current grass lengths for mixed grass, with a different animation/texture). Subsequently, this would add a new market for people with high farming skill as you could pay a farmer to come create some hay bales for you to tend to your animals if you didn't want to do it and since they are consumable, it creates a small economic boost for farmers beyond selling mass produce. Just a thought on expanding the idea within current mechanics anyway.
  11. This is good to know because it's insanely frustrating for those of us who try to play, you get kicked every few minutes and its nearly impossible to do anything. The game is nearly unplayable because you can't connect for 10 minutes at a time aftr being booted.
  12. Yes, as well as several others.
  13. This happened to me constantly all day yesterday. Clearing the Java Cache didn't work, re-installing didn't work, launching from either a shortcut or directly from the site didnt make much difference. It's extremely obnoxious though, even when I could connect I would get randomly dropped and sent into a loop of retrying to connect over and over.
  14. +1 It doesn't make sense to lock out players who want to go there, elminate the item issues by allowing this concession and then people can bring stuff over slowly after the fact. This option would make it work for everyone and make it more staggered.
  15. I wasn't on for long, took some pics. http://imgur.com/a/VRyZV#0
  16. Even though you were a filthy white lighter, I agree with you, if you dont partake in the daily kchat circle jerk, most of the new players assume you know nothing about the game, I was actually talking to Dream Master the other day about un4 when I realized that there are probably only a handful of people still around who know who that is. Glad to see bier posting as well, not enough of the alpha/beta crowd still around these days.
  17. Hello Malvado. Good to see an old name still posting, glad you got past your addiction, I remember how you were when you played 12+ hours a day, never thought you'd make it past that. Sad to see all the n00bs talking trash to a respected older player, so much disrespect and flaming for nothing. Good to see Inventor posting too. BL / VCS for life brovado.
  18. COD one to 'Zeno' on Deliverance please.
