  1. As an inactive player I will admit to ignoring a lot of the updates but the reinstatement of wood types is a big draw to come back. I never really understood why they were taken away in the first place. I guess they 'upgraded' one thing that meant that wood types weren't possible anymore but taking away a significant feature never sat right with me and seemed another way that normal players were getting shafted for the Steam version.
  2. Thank you Brash, that's incredibly helpful. I hadn't realised that the timers were different on various servers. I presumed it was just wurm speed or super speed. Something in-between would be quite nice!
  3. I take it from people only suggesting the various old servers, that people on the forums don't play on WU at all?
  4. So I've been playing wurm on and off for years - GV, Indy, Deli an Celi. Last time I spent any significant time online was just before that huge server opened up and decimated the 'old' server populations. The collapse of the village I was in was the last straw and I gave up. About a year ago I got the Wurm itch and tried out WU. After joining a developed deed I suffered a severe case of culture shock as most the players were already 99 in the major skills. Having skills become almost irrelevant just seemed to kill a part of what makes wurm wurm. So here I am again. Wurm is calling. But I'm lost as what to play. Deli was depressing last time I logged on, seeing decay and abandoned deeds everywhere. WU seems to be glorified minecraft with the focus on creativity, not skills. I rather like seeing skills ticking up. What's the current mood at the moment? Which game type? Which server? Is there any positivity anywhere? Would love to find a happy little deed somewhere.
  5. Please add Ringstead at x21 y36. Thank you!
  6. Sailed a cog under this last night - looking really good guys!
  7. I still enjoy walking around GV, so thanks for the map!
  8. "Make it fit in the space available, but still be readable"
  9. Maybe I'm getting old, but on 1440x900 I have to squint to make out the player numbers, just too small.
  10. Although it fits on my resolution, damned if I can actually read anything with the font so teeny tiny small.
  11. Noooooooo, I was all ready to pack up and move. Didn't know there were map dumps happening that far back.
  12. Which server is that? It's so clean and empty!
  13. I'm a huge fan of the newbie island idea. I started on GV and definitely wouldn't have stuck with the game if I hadn't had the opportunity to learn the ropes there. I'd argue that it wasn't the closure of GV that prompted the growth, but the fact that after closure that f2p were allowed on Indy to explore and see the 'real world'. Previously they were stuck on GV as Indy/Wild were prem only. The 'pay up or leave' barrier was offputting. There's no reason now why they can't f2p on a new GV and transfer over to another server when they feel ready and eventually prem up in their own time. Best of both worlds then.
  14. [21:57:03] You have been premium a total of 42 months until Dec 2013. [21:57:03] You have been premium a total of 9 since Dec 2013. [21:57:03] You have been premium consecutively for 9 months since Dec 2013. I've had consecutive prem the whole time. Do we just accept that we're going to have been permanently screwed out of the loyalty bonus for the months we're missing?
  15. Let them put more content in for sheep/wool before we start shouting for bunnies.
  16. In all honesty other than that initial experience, I think I had a better time as a noob than they do now. That first time I literally spawned in First Light on GV, you were given nothing. The second time round (when I stuck with it) was spawning in New Dawn, GV with a rudimentary tutorial. What really taught me how to play however was the time spent on GV itself. The small island meant you could learn to navigate without getting truly lost. The limited types of mobs (no trolls/spiders etc) meant you could actually fight and have a chance of living to tell the tale. Everyone being limited to 20 meant you didn't get overwhelmed by massively more skilled people around you. There was a strong trade in goods. It was just great. Once you got the hang of things you could take your tools and few bits by portal to Indy or Wild and be a proper grown up player. Any tutorial they make could be awesome, but nothing teaches wurm better than playing it. Golden Valley did that perfectly in a safe environment.
  17. Going by my first experience in Wurm, I'd stumble around in the dark, fall down a cliff and be eaten by a wolf within the first 10 minutes. I rage quit for 6 months before giving it another try.
  18. Just a bump as a reminder that my consecutive months are still 6 months behind what I've actually been prem for. Clearly this is low on the list of priorities, but when my annual renewal comes round I won't be bothering with 12 months again. What point is there in a loyalty system that doesn't actually work?
  19. I had this issue today. I was using a raised dock so the crates are visible and close enough to the command position on my cog. The raised dock was about 20 dirt higher than 'just above sea level'. However I was getting the "You must be on the same floor level as the large crate in order to load it." As suggested in chat, I had to get an alt as passenger 1 and embark myself as passenger 2 to be able to load.
  20. This seems a very personal opinion to enforce on a public place. I love birch myself and it's always my tree of choice when planting forests. What has always seemed odd to me is how GD became someone's personal deed. I presume a GM? I always feel like I'm trespassing when I go there, especially with the token hidden behind two layers of fencing and hedging. For me that's far more of an issue than a few trees.
  21. It never made sense to me that lavender hedges had no flowers. The 'neat' type we had is really box hedging
  22. I've been caught out on the short xmas period before so made special arrangements to get my gift on xmas eve. It'd be nice if the period was a little longer.
  23. I lost my uncle.

To clarify, that is Kamal's niece posting from his account. It's Kamal who is gone. He was the heart and soul of Cele. I just can't take it in.
  24. I'm trying to found a new deed on the site of an abandoned village, but their old obelisk doesn't allow it. I can't move it, can't damage it and it doesn't decay. I can't even tell who the maker is to ask them to push it. Part of the charm of wurm is that nothing is permanent, it all goes back to nature in the end. Except for this thing. As more villages on the older servers get abandoned these things are going to be blocking new deeds being dropped for the lifetime of the server. Is that really 'as intended'?
  25. So now challenge is out are the Devs going to give us some love? [01:34:03] You have been premium a total of 42 months until Dec 2013. [01:34:03] You have been premium a total of 5 since Dec 2013. [01:34:03] You have been premium consecutively for 5 months since Dec 2013. [01:34:03] You have premium time until 30 Oct 2015 05:46:11 GMT I've been prem consecutively nearly two years, but didn't check token for reimbursements until July.
