  5. I go to Haven's Landing on Independence from time to time, mostly for treasure hunts, and a majority of the time I still get lost trying to find my way out to the main roads. The design of it is beautiful for sure, but I don't know how practical it is for new players. And yes, without any players there it very much resembles a ghost town, which isn't very inviting. I think back to Newtown on the Home Server when I started (and ended up settling down right next to for a long time), and I remember these things: The starting town wasn't very big, so you could get out of it easily. There were basic resources and mostly touched land easily accessible to it. The whole place was flat, so it was easy to get in and out and find main access roads. There were people living nearby - both new players and experienced residents - who could help or just talk. When I look at what new players would be spawning into now, I don't think they'd get that same easy-to-use, welcoming feel from their starting town - even though it's by all metrics an outstanding feat of player work and one of those landmarks you love to see in Wurm as you explore the map.
  6. I'm having the same issue - can't buy a merchant contract through the in-game silver shop.

  9. It should be pretty easy to find when you're close, but just in case anyone needs it, it's on the east edge of the peat patch: https://independence.yaga.host/#3595,2880
  10. I recently created a new character, and on the "Portal Map" page where you select your starting server, I noticed an interesting difference between the SFI and NFI server cluster descriptions. For NFI, there's a fairly bland description emphasizing that these servers are new. For SFI, you get a warning about theft risk and that you need to take measures to protect your property. The rules are the same for the non-PVP servers on both clusters, and officially theft is not allowed. To me, having the more intimidating description creates the incorrect impression that SFI is a more "dangerous" or "lawless" place, and for those looking for a non-PVP environment, they'd end up being drawn to NFI instead of SFI just because of that. I don't think there's a legitimate reason to make this distinction, so I'd recommend removing that language from the SFI server cluster description entirely. New players already get a warning about theft when they drop items for the first time, which seems sufficient. As a SFI player I know that I'd like to have new players on our server cluster too once in a while, and it doesn't seem right to present misleading information to new players as they're making that decision on where to go. There are definitely legitimate reasons to pick one over the other and those should be presented in the Portal Map page, but those reasons should be presented fairly and in a balanced manner. On a lesser note, I also noticed that the individual server descriptions for most of the NFI servers warn you about the wildlife. I think this made sense when the servers were brand new and undeveloped, but I was looking at the server maps and Cadence and Harmony seem to have just as prevalent a network of guard towers and highways as any SFI server. I'll admit I don't know this firsthand never having played on NFI, but it seems like this distinction might not be as relevant anymore.

  13. +1 Please. Trying to figure out what happened with your CODs seems needlessly complicated and unclear.
  14. Thank you for sharing this. That trailer is a true work of art. I couldn't imagine a better video to introduce and represent Wurm.
  15. I haven't seen this mentioned here already, but it seems like campfires won't disappear since the last patch. Normally campfires lit with one kindling burn out after a bit of time and turn into ash. Today I logged in to find 40 unlit campfires scattered around my village, which burned out but did not turn into ash as usual. I haven't done anything differently, so the only change I can think of is that it relates to the most recent patch. I tried re-lighting one of the campfires, which worked, but when it ran out of fuel it turned back into an unlit campfire and not ash. In addition to making it so much harder to get ash, I also haven't figured out how to get rid of all of these campfires.
  16. Wow, that looks amazing! Great job by everyone involved.

  18. Looking to buy a good quality small sailing boat; speed rune is definitely a plus. I'm on the southern coast of Independence. Edit: Bought - thread can be closed.
  19. Hello! I'm pleased to report that the road north of Paleshade (30x 60y) has been widened and is now a two-tile highway connecting to the highway network.
  20. I am unable to open a "supreme small dirty casket, birchwood" that I dug up while continuing a treasure hunt. I was able to do the earlier steps, but when I press "open" nothing happens - no change to the item, no event log, nothing. I've tried relogging, dropping it and picking it back up, queuing multiple open attempts, etc., and nothing has fixed it so far. The step counter also seems to have reset for this casket: [20:18:39] This is a challenging clue. You have completed 0 steps of this treasure hunt. This clue may have between 3 and 5 steps. It looks like it's the same issue that we had last year, and I am on the Independence server like they were:
  21. My old one decayed into oblivion, so I'm back and interested in buying a new one. Independence server, by the Storm's End/Blue Phoenix area on the north side of Crystal Lake.

  23. I'll take a rowing boat (cedar)- can you deliver to Angel Coast? (14y, 33x)
  24. Never mind, my client wasn't starting but I fixed it by simply re-installing it.
  25. Buying a rowboat delivered to Angel Coast (Independence). If anyone is willing to sell, let's discuss a price.
