  1. Juvlar, having arrows that can blast apart plate armor would be okay, but you would have to restrict their use by plate wearers or make them not do much or any damage to people not wearing plate. While that would balance the issue some , it would be incredibly unrealistic. It could be fun though *shrugs*
  2. Ah both the accuracy reduction and the reduced range seem like good ideas. Probably a LOT easier to code too, haha.
  3. GLSL shader

Bullbrand, let me see if I can explain more thoroughly. I'm not farming rares, i'm chopping wood, and I use the rare logs to sacrifice for food. The GLSL shader might be a known issue, but it has only recently begun to effect me after the latest patch, which is why I am making this post now. This post might not be helping YOU specifically, but I think that drawing more attention to the topic is of benefit to me, and possibly others. I explained pretty clearly why I would prefer to see the visual effect rather than to have to listen to sound all day. You need to do a bit more reading and critical thinking before you make aggressive posts.
  4. GLSL shader

Hey there! I really would like GLSL shader support to be fixed, if possible. I have to disable it right now or the game crashes on the loading screen. This means I can't see the visual effect when i see a drumroll. I don't want to keep the sounds on all day because they will drive me insane, so I can't tell when I'm getting rares. This is seriously effecting my gameplay, as I have been using rares for food because it's more efficient for me than stopping to make a campfire every time I'm hungry. Not a huge issue, but I really need it fixed if you guys ever find the time amidst the massive amount of other crap you have to deal with haha!
  5. I'm not sure if the recent tweak and un-tweak involving the great helm and archery was an attempt to balance armor use vs archery ability, but it did get me thinking about such balance. If you wanted to balance armor usage while using archery, I think I have a pretty good idea. Perhaps, if someone is wearing no armor, they can easily track and hit targets that are moving 180 degrees in front of them. But, as they equip more armor, this angle narrows so that they have a harder time hitting moving targets. For example, a person in full plate armor might only have a 15 degree angle, so that if a target moves outside of that angle while they are carrying out the shooting action, the shot misses completely. This is because they are looking through tiny eye-slits in a helmet and are wearing bulky armor that makes it hard to move with finesse. Different armor sets could have varying degrees of penalty on this angle of effectiveness. This would also still allow even a person in full plate to catch someone by surprise and shoot them successfully, but if the target is clever, they can then circle around the plate armored individual to avoid their shots, forcing the armored person to approach and draw weapons for a melee fight if they want to kill the tricky little person or risk being arched to death by their superior angle of aim! Anyone else think this might be a simple and effective way to make light armor types + archery more viable and add more diversity, strategy, and excitement to combat?
  6. If i fiddle with the compatibility stuff, some options make it crash at the connecting to server phase, but If i simply have GLSL disabled it crashes after welcoming me back to Wurm. Either way it doesn't make it past the splash screen. I've tried opening with the console as suggested in the frequent mac problems section, and that doesn't work either.
  7. OS X 10.8.5. I have tried uninstalling Java completely, going to the "Go" menu, holding the options button and entering Library, and deleting the Oracle folder completely. Then installed java 7.45 , restarted computer. Set security to medium. Disabled GLSL in the compatibility section. Nothing works. The same error occurs and the client crashes at the splash screen after saying "Welcome!" I always run the game on extreme minimum graphics, too. Unexpected crash while playing The error was: <javax.vecmath.Vector3f.====== CLIENT CRASH ====== Unexpected crash while playing java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: javax.vecmath.Vector3f.getZ()F at class.O.a(SourceFile:765) at class.ao.a(SourceFile:213) at com.wurmonline.client.h.e(SourceFile:328) at com.wurmonline.client.h.run(SourceFile:1464) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:744) ()F>
  8. Tried Andobi's fix with a fresh java and client download, and it has the exact same crash after the loading screen says "Welcome!"
  9. Just tried disabling everything in the compatibility section. After doing that and attempting to open Wurm again, I actually managed to load the splash screen, but when it said "connecting" the client crashed and I actually got a crash report this time. Also, my crash report said exactly what the poster's report above said, but I was not able to copy paste it for some reason. Unexpected crash while playing The error was: <javax.vecmath.Vector3f.getZ()F>
  10. I was able to log in last night, but today I cannot log in as well. I am running OS X 10.8.5. I have tried uninstalling both Java and the client, then I used the suggestion in the link in a post above to run the game from the terminal. Nothing works. The game window opens and then crashes before the splash screen even appears.
