  1. Man, anime elves/dwarves are the worst. -1 though. Wurm should embrace all the ways it's different to conventional fantasy.
  2. Last Post Wins

I can confirm that this is exactly what Boombza looks like.
  3. Tacnet is a team tactics collaboration tool, and recently added Wurm's maps alomng with a few faction-specific icons I dug up. Although Wurm has a rudimentary system in-game, I thought some of you might find this useful / amusing. Here is their official speal: You can check out Tacnet here.
  4. Awesome! As another hint, you may want to edit your first post and remove your email address. I hear tales of internet bots that collect exposed email addresses and sell them to spam companies.
  5. I hate to be that guy, but I use a gmail account too and every time I roll a new account the email lands up in my spam folder. It's hidden under the "More" tab on the left. ...On the off chance you haven't already checked there.
  6. I saw this one on Golden Valley, at the site of the new tutorial (I think that's what's behind the massive walls, anyway).
  7. Sounds like fun! I just did the same thing on my newly bought GV character, who had naught but a mirror on a server mostly void of people. The additional chance to forage branches from tree tiles is much appreciated. You need 3-4 (I can't remember) minimum to get off the ground, and the old system meant a lot of foraging. It takes a fraction of the time now. Your only real problem is animals, since water isn't hard to come by and you'll have a mountain of foraged goods for when you're peckish. It's a cool system and an interesting way to change up starting out. Unfortunately I probably won't be able to participate in the Grand Opening, but I look forward to reading about it. How could you bolster your post count then? By making useless posts elsewhere?
  8. Three or four different environment spawns is a nice idea. I think the fast travel could work well too. It might make the server seem smaller, but it would make trade easier, and that's a big part of the PvE experience. I just hope there aren't so many that travel is always as simple as "which portal is closest to me, and which is closest to my destination" and a case where all roads lead to the nearest portal. At that point they start detracting from the game. I played Salem for a while, and its humongous world is made tiny by the fact that everyone can teleport from their home to the main city and back as much as they wanted. It killed off the need for roads and the sensation of being isolated, two of Wurm's defining features in my eyes. All this said, I wouldn't mind if Xanadu opened and was just like every other server, but these are good ideas in my opinion Ayes.
  9. I do what I find fun, and I don't waste my time with what I don't. I think I'm doing it right.
  10. I'm happily roaming GV and this offer is now over. Please close! If anyone wishes to sell a GV character in the future and stumbles upon this thread, shoot me a PM. I'd like to have a few more in my pocket in case my friends want to join me.
  11. I love Wurm online because I play it as a [fantasy] wilderness survival simulator, which Wurm does well.
  12. That is... A lot of dirt. And work, kudos to you guys!
  13. Just signed up this mornign and made it to level 3. Funnily enough, it was only the other day that I was thinking about how good an idea gamifying exercise is, then I found this thread! Is there a Wurm group? If not, there should be.
  14. Mm I understand the risk, so I will not be (too) disappointed if Rolf pulls the plug on GV in the near future. On the other hand, I have been told that GV also functions as the login server (or something meta like that) and that it should be around forever. EDIT: I have just bought one of emoticondnd's accounts, but I am not opposed to buying another account from this thread if more are posted, in case I want to play with a friend in the future. I'll leave the thread open until the countdown expires.
  15. "A good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow." Best taken with a dash of salt, but good advice for procrastinators like me.
  16. It should be something as natural and rustic as the existing wooden lodge, to compliment it. If you build a colossus, it will look as if the lodge is there to compliment the giant, misplaced statue. I think the grounded ship idea has a lot of character. You might even name it "Safe Shelter" or something so that players who are not aware of the lodge's location at all can read it from afar.
  17. Sadly Wurm is like every other MMO in the sense that its forum attracts more negative players than it does positive ones. You know what they say... Something about negative people being more vocal, or something... I'm not good with quotes. Anyway, seeya next time.
  18. Great to see the assymetrical deed update. I now don't have to stress endlessly over where I drop the token...
  19. Aha I never thought of that! I've struck out that poart from my post. I'll send you a PM, as these are certainly decent names. Thank you so much for this post, honestly. It has always bothered me that mirrors weren't craftable, and this workaround has made my day. I see what you're getting at, but I will let the auction timer tick down and see if anyone disagrees.
  20. Yes to both, actually! The toughest part was that we both rolled new characters for it, so food was always scarce and just about anything could kill us. Oh, and the complete lack of a spawn point in Independence, most of the time, weighed heavy on our minds. I can't remember either of us dying, though. My favorite part was finding bison and figuring out which were the fastest. We switched to horses a while later though, so that we could move around easier after setting up camp. Then there was gaining more fight skill than every character I've ever owned, thanks to the ability to up and move from steppe to steppe. Mind you, whatever skill we wanted to work on we would find an ideal place, build a 1x1 fence box and spend a while there. Often we adapted old "ruins" of abandoned deeds and used the iron in their mines, or stayed at a public inn for a while to gain some sleep bonus. It's certainly a very different and enjoyable way to play, though the new enclosure rules might make the 1x1 fencebox strategy a little risky. I should try it again now that proper wagons are implemented... Fun fact: that happened about a week after we stopped.
  21. Man, I hope Xanadu has dragons this big. They've become a joke next to the new seamonsters and god-avatars!
  22. My friend and I once spent about a month roaming Independence as "caravan nomads". We built a large cart each, grabbed some bison and refused to settle down anywhere for more than a week. We only stopped so we could do the same thing in real life!
