  1. black gold was great, also the settlers, the good old transport tycoon.
  2. with highways that could be a thing, the game needs to check if a highway is valid and so it should be able to find the pathing and make a cart/rider simply follow said highway. would require the rider/commander to click the waystone, choose travel to … and then automatically they ride.
  3. gj now you will be hired as the master mason of the land of plenty. And you should be granted the possibility to make cake house walls.
  4. Maybe also generations changed too much. during study I had a lot of time. Now with family and kids I don't. WO feels very unrewarding because it's time just flies by and the less you are active the more you kinda lose. WU helps to cater to those people because they can decide how fast Wurmtime passes. The ingame duties for a deep experience is pretty much "No Lifing" in Wurm, and always was. Bu living a pretty casual gamer Life in Wurm is pretty soon boring. So it loses it's appeal to play it and even pay for it as well. I think it's fine by the price, given you have time to play it. But the new gamer generation is more fortnite action and Mobile App gamers. I wonder what would happen if we could have Wurm as some sort of mobile app. But the GUI to make it work for the inventory would be a pretty strange thing. Yet even Ark managed to be an App. The graphics would be nice enough for a mobile game and it could keep hordes of the kids entertained . But atm, WU is basically the only Wurm I can timewise even afford. So WU saved my Wurmian Life instead of killing it entirely.
  5. simple things it should do: When cutting something down, MOI should instantly cut it. Or just let some other rare item appear, like a rare fruit of that tree/bush or a sprout even if not ripe or having a sprout. When an MOI strikes during crafting an item, and that crafting rolls on fail, the MOI instead of making a fail should make it succeed but not granting a rarity buff. When MOI strikes during repair, Make it immediately fully repair the remaining damage without causing QL loss for damage repaired that way.
  6. paprika on a stick, to burn the butt of a horse. increases speed by 30% for 10 seconds and gives a light burn wound to the horse.
  7. I agree, Wurm definitely does not show correct success %, on many tasks it does feel like the actual chance is like 10% lower than shown.
  8. How about you play the game as a newbie does? And not someone who already knows everything? They don't know that you even can find iron ore at a rock tile. Your very big issue is that you cannot. But in the end eating 8kg of something not filling your hunger is bad in every sort of way. I doubt you guys have much of an idea abut what a "new player experience means" But doesn't makes me wonder that Wurm loses more and more players while hardly gaining new ones, it didn't improve much in these regards, but strayed away form logic. Ok LiF is even more worse here because it puts cooking behind a much bigger initial skillwall, but then it is sufficiently there to nourish solely on apples in your early days (without having to eat 50kg of them). yes i start to grind cooking till 50 before eating stuff, nice idea. You obviously cannot see why cooking and it's early stages are an entirely different topic within these. and yes crappy sword works pretty well to kill lower mobs. read my op again. it is bad. because you should eat raw high ql meat instead of processed one. that is not logically sound. Newbies don't know that a butchering knife exists (unless they read lots of wiki stuff first) and even less that you can gather ore that easily from the rock tiles and so on and so on. Yes stuff is easy if you know all these little weird things the mechanics have but they are not logically sound nor intuitive. Thats why I haven't said it is impossible to feed you, I said its a horrible mechanic. 8kg of meat are 8kg of meat, cooking them shouldn't magically make its ability to feed you be gone.
  9. the question is how these npc's should know where to spawn. would be pretty bad for a player if he suddenly had those guys in front of his house because it once was a location of an abandoned deed. Archeology is not actively interfering with players. those guys surely would.
  10. What kind of person joins a settlement in which he doesn't trust the major? The major should always have that power. maybe linked to a two week timer if that player isn't online, or a timer they can manually set in the deed settings. Like 30 days. So every citizen then knows how often he needs to log in at least to not let this happen. Especially given that planning a house requires a specific skill, it would limit the major doing all the layouts to have ownership if he lacks that skill. It anyways never made sense that it is linked to carpentry instead an own construction skill, because houses made of only stone shouldn't require carpentry.
  11. yeah more QL should grant some more, but type should not matter.
  12. yeah roasted nuts and roasting coffee beans or chestnuts should definitely become a thing.
  13. untrue, I started this game when GV was still the starter location. get a fishing rod (hardest part was getting cotton for the string) and then you could fish. And you could pretty early and easily also get carp or catfish with around 2kg which then fed you pretty well. usual way to survive was just making casserole with some meat + something else. done. The "toughest" part in the newbie flooded GV was finding an tile for foraging and botanizing that wasn't already picked clean. Also, did you ate the meat raw? You know this topic is about cooking. Also, 1 1/2 pieces left? sounds pretty fake/strange, usually a new account can only butcher with the shovel, sword or carving knife which grants you just a 1,20kg piece of meat from a cow.
  14. Those mechanics also apply to WU, which is what some play solo. Your problem when looking at the mechanics is that you consider an overcrowded server with people left and right as the standard environment. Raw mechanics should be good for every playstyle. the reason for dividing work is primarily all takes a LOT of time. And therefore specialising makes it better for everyone much earlier. but If you consider personal randomized affinities as a good idea, or the way how restrictive making food is and eating 8+kg hardly filling, then yeah you can find it fine. but neither by any logic nor gameplay abstraction of a RL counterpart is that a objectively good mechanic. And that has nothing to do with personal preferences. If I want to not get fed for a day by a huge animal then I can also play ark where a whole brontosaurus doesn't even feed you for a day. Wurm once was nice with this as the game didn't make you eat massively amounts of food to be filled. But eating 5 cows and not filling yourself is not any sort of a proper implemented one. The Food bar should raise according to the mass you eat, not the QL. Nutrition, Affinities and CCFP should be quality based. This would give making filets, dicing and mincing them good fillers for CCFP as it fills relatively them relatively strong with good QL compared to the amount eaten. At this very point I even would question the purpose of "nutrition" because that feels like a bad old school artifact and with CCFP Nutrition should just be the reflection of how well CCFP are filled. because oh wonder, CCFP's are nutrients. And that is why the food mechanics are horrible, they follow no basic logic, they follow not even any proper logic, it is a system that now exists for it's own sake of existing with overly nonsense mechanics. a little example is what happened to me on WU, I went over the server I started somehow died to some trolls and lost my stuff (the pottery bowl). So i had to go with the frying pan I made. and now with hardly even 4 HFC. I made meals with minced meat, chopped herbs and mashed potatoes/pumpkins. The result was after eating like 8 of them I had 50% C 0%C 70%F and 100%P nd had a nutrition value of 79% Yet I was going to soon having Hunger issues because the Hunger bar was still at 38% when I ate all those 8+Kg (was at 19% then) and it only gave me such less "Hunger fulfillment". So compute this wit a basic logic. One stat says I ham pretty well at Nutrition 79%, I'm perfectly at protein 100%, medium at calories (50%) horribly at Carbs (0%), and quite good at Fat (70%) but my character iss till horribly hungry which is the bar deciding when I have to fasten. And yes 0 carbs from potatoe and pumpkin granted, maybe they are made out of magic air. And all those CCFP values were just met with 4HFC and if one cannot see how this is even a big issue in the mechanics, then I don't know how much more obviously nonsense any sort of mechanic in a game needs to be, to show it's flaws.
  15. yes maybe with less sleep bonus granted. Also bedrolls to sleep on the ground anywhere with also less sleep bonus. but tent with a bedroll in should grant a bit more (yet less than a bed)
  16. well, how well would a sword of leadwork? it's just one of these other "typical wurm design decisions" where you just accept it head scratching.
  17. sounds useless but fun. Some real graves, burial and stuff is really something we do not have. Could also be linked to priests and religion being able holding burials getting faith, praying and mourning on graves and favor. but honestly, I do not get wurm professions. Milking is an own skill, shearing not, skinning not. I wonder what the criteria is for making some individual tasks an own skill, and some just being a subtask within another skill.
  18. well, given you have 2 hours for a 15s window with each related skill being a 1/500 chance to appear. Lets say an action affects 4 skills, lets also say we can do 2 actions in those 15seconds. that creates so a rough estimation would be: (1/(2*4*1/500))*2hours. Thats averagely 125hours of just raw theoretical grinding to get an affinity. But those odds get heavily reduced when those 15s happen and you don't do anything skill related, like just walking. or if an action involves only 2 skills. So all the other actions like eating and drinking walking. clicking stuff in the inventory are putting your 15s timeframe at danger of not happening.
  19. doesn't matter, a corncob shows a single one. according to wiki and the internet , a single corncob has between 500 and 1200 pieces of corn. Depends on the kind. And the thousend corn weight is 250-400g so if we say cob size and corn weight is average in wurm, we would have like 850 pieces of corn with a average of 325g for 1000 corns. that makes 176,25g for the corns on a cob. (give we do not eat the center parts) So changing the corn in Wurm to 0,25 or 0,2 would definately be a good idea.
  20. Not expecting much from that restaurant, given Rolf decided a sausage should contain breadcrumbs
  21. question, can these items be dyed? I think it would be cool if somehow players could choose the colors for individual parts of the designs. Also it would be nice if the player made Kingdom generation would include other mayors, because usually a Kingdom would and should start to appear as a association of multiple settlements. an I vote for #3
  22. for a BRAND new player, getting a proper meditation rug and that level of mediation also means being out of food issues. it really is the very first days that massively try to kill starve you because food even in proper quantities feed badly.
  23. Nice server, mostly untouched land filled with hellhounds, spiders scorps trolls and crabs. Will you ever make a more accurate map, like this kind for example http://www.necropolis.at/necromap/ because the current map only helps with average orientation and I need to put my own markers in paint copy version.
  24. Wait until you mess something in your mine up and the only fix is to hope for a random collapse so that this part can be fixed ^^ or being able to afford items causing the collapse.
  25. Now go with you refrehsed Life of insigt and rule the world of Wurm.
