  1. i completely understand acura, but it just seems lately more and more people are losing sight of the design of Wurm.

the one thing i have always enjoyed about it, is its lack of instant gratification. getting things done now gives that true feeling of accomplishment that is missing in most MMO's

  2. Frankly I think Rolf has been making a lot of idiotic changes lately, he doesn't think how changing farming will affect players that are new and have little skill and few seeds, he only thinks about the old players. Just like when he made the maps stupidly mountainous and no exposed rock, he did it just because some of the older player wanted it without thinking about how it would affect new players.

have you ever even stopped to possibly consider that Rolf did these things because IT fits into HIS design for the game?

i empathize with you, i really do. i have a char on with no skills  no seeds  no nothing. hiding for his life in a 1 x 1. all i can do is pick off the occasional rat and farm my new 20 tile farm......that came from forage and botting my rear off....  all i eat is cassies made from herbs and bits of rat meat. i have a frying pan waiting for my first bumper crop, but it is hard enough to keep these plants alive while i LEARN how to effectively farm.

982 bears starfall  17th.  found 3 more onions today and 2 potatoes and a corn.... think i will make some meals from the onions and store the potatoes and corn in my new barrel i made

982 bears starfall  25th.  almost died trying to kill a deer today. i got him but i'm really messed up. failed to butcher him successfully as well. Had to use my last potatoes and corn as well. didn't find any in my travels. man i'm going back to bed.

982 whitesharks starfall 5th. what a day! killed a deer and got a nice hide from him and a fair amount of meat. also went to check on my fields, and lo and behold, there were enuff shoots to replant and have enough for a meal tonight. luxuries are few and far in this strange world. going to eat well tonight.

etc etc      kinda getting the point that this isn't an instant gratification type game?

don't get me wrong acura, i've learned under the old system too, hell  got 50 farming under it. nor am i attempting to call you a nub. this is more for those that follow and read.  yes it's hard, and yes it sucks, but taken in context it actually works out IMO.

  3. frankly, if you're only farming 6 - 10 tiles, your problem isn't that farming is slow, it's that you aren't a Farmer.   You need to expand your growth base for any serious skill gain. I'd suggest a Minimum of 25 - 30 tiles.  Couple days of that and you'll be right as the mail.

You can't plant more crops if you only get 1 crop per tile.

it's called forage and bot everything under the sun    daily.    eat cassies and plant seeds. get that whole 'everyday is a struggle to survive' feeling until you get that house up and a proper area terraformed.    let us not forget you are placd on this land knowing how to do NOTHING.

on a skill that goes to 100, it stands to say    50 is average................

  4. side note    how is A7 vs A6?    haven't usd that engine in a while.

only thing i can honestly say atm is    will there be more than 1 - 2 of these?

if so, you got your work cut out hiding faces that don't need rendered.

little trick i used to use in A5 for single player games was to make the 'inside' of the tower its own level. not real up to snuff on conitec's MMO code tho. last i saw it was pretty rough.

theres a few editors out there better than Med for models and such as well.

  5. I find that when moderators have "fun" options things get out of hand.

I especially think this would be a problem with our current crop of CMs.

and what exactly is wrong with the current mods?

  6. -Chainsmithing

30 skill to get the option to create 0.2kg armorchains at the risk of much higher failurerates

50 skill to get the option to create 0.5kg armorchains at the risk of higher failurerates

70 skill to get the option to create 0.8kg armorchains at the risk of higher failurerates

80 skill to get the option to create 1.1kg armorchains at the risk of slightly higher failurerates

good lord, i would be the happiest renowned chainsmith in all the lands

  7. yes.    ql + 5 favor to fill  2*ql in favor back

vessel can be a pain in the rump to cast sometimes too.

*sidenote*    I buy gems for 1/3 get price any amount    ql 11+

  8. religion fix....... *sigh*    those words drive fear into my little wurm heart now..

finally get to champ level    months of pray pray.....    possibly about to be wiped out....or justification.  man i hate waiting    lol

  9. 2 x 16 ( 4x4)

he means 2 areas  4x4    2 fields of 16 tiles each.....

honestly  i can't see this as actually bad. i find this to be inline with the whole roleplay / satisfaction.

it works like this... you forage and cook cassies until your farming gets to 10 or so. this gets your cooking started properly by making you cook cassies and such and also fits into the whole scheme of things. i mean really, starting out knowing NOTHING, 10 - 12 skill to get EXCESS yield works. think about the real world, and you have plant death and loss to insects etc etc. until you get the hang of farming.

its like the taming thing.  everyone sees that as a nerf too, but IMO taming was waaaaay to easy before.

  10. See, here again is where i have a different opinion.

created a nub char just for this.

As a newb char with 0 farming and 0 'connections' i foraged for an hour on everything i could find, and collected a load of seeds. I now have 12 fields growing of various things. after 4 days of halfway farming i am at 5.5 skill. yes my yeild is 1 so i replant everything, but look at it like this.

You are a new person to the world and know CRAP about farming....... i kill rats and forage to make cassies while i farm for what  a week maybe. then bam i am getting 2 yeild, and can make my first meal.

IMO the new farming looks pretty good so far. requires just the right amount of time investment honestly.
