Ivan, i used 3DGS for about a year or 2.
overall good tinker engine. mainly designed for FPS type games. no network code added at all ( last i used it anyway)
check out also realmcrafter. multiverse has an engine as well iirc. and 3dtruevision?

Gratz, and welcome to boot camp

i really have to agree on this. for the amount of damage a scorp does to me in 70 ql chain, and the lenghth of the fight, the skill gain is very paltry. i'll try to get firm numbers later this evening.

I said in WW2 you idiot, I feel sorry for you because you can't comprehend a damn thing.tob ad ti goes like this = brothas in caves wit rockets >germen tanks> russia n tanks > american tanks
You can't compare a modern German or Russian tank to an American because they have never fought.
American sure as hell can destroy Middle Eastern tanks..
the tanks in the gulf were russian T-72's

It's true you're much better than the rest of us childish plebs - we're all just sore losers and can't take your success so we cry ourselves to sleep
never once said i was better, merely used my own name to avoid the rest of you from "OMG so and so is a fav of the CM", or " OMG so and so is cheating i knew it"
@anyone who wants to bet that wouldn't have happened, step back, look around. i got a silver says it would have

Oracle is right
we should turn in our friends and village mates on the suspicion of cheating in order to improve our gameplay experience by:
- alienating our friends
- earn ourselves a reputation for being a member of the Stasi
in return Oracle i'd like you to skill my player up please thanks it will make my job much easier
i don't see whats so hard about what was said....... all of my friends in wurm know that i will be harder on them, as they have been around long enough to know better.
if i think you are a macro'er sorry mate, you might have been a friend, but /dev
if your being a general ...hat to the populace... sorry mate, you might have been a friend, but /dev mute whizbang whathave you.
@ the whole gavin cheating thing, don't know, only talked to the man 4-5 times in my visits to see friends at kyara, but i do know for a fact, the general population cannot stand to see someone rise above them. if pacer has more money than nub A.... OMG h4x you cheater. if pacer can take down something you can't.... OMG you get special powers as a CM, thats so unfair..
give me a break already.
and no, i do the CM bit for the simple fact i was asked.... no recourse... no money... no freebies...
the general attitude on this forum is attrocious. negativity abounds, and all you want to do is cry cry more. I for one, have no issues with this game at all, yes there are things that could be fixed, and yes there is more work to be done, but if half of you focused your negativity on HELPING instead of flaming and crying.....
prime example..... if half as many people helped edit the wiki as cried "OMG the WIKI is always wrong. what a POS"

german tanks = Sherman crushers
only because we could mass produce 750quatrillion of them........

Question;
Why did a "What do you look like" thread turn into a debate on how Abrams tanks can or cant survive IED's
Also. Challenger II beats all tanks!

Most definately.... <3 Challenger II
Only 1 Challenger 2 tank has been fully destroyed in action, and that was accidental friendly fire from another Challenger 2.
In one encounter within the urban area a Challenger 2 came under attack from irregular forces with machine guns and rocket propelled grenades. The drivers sight was damaged and while attempting to back away under the commander's directions, the other sights were damaged and the tank threw its tracks entering a ditch. It was hit directly by eight rocket propelled grenades from close range and a MILAN anti-tank missile, and was under heavy small arms fire for hours. The crew survived remaining safe within the tank until the tank was recovered for repairs, the worst damage being to the sighting system. It was back in operation six hours later after the repairs. One Challenger 2 operating near Basra survived being hit by 70 RPGs in another incident. There have been only two Challenger 2s damaged in combat and one destroyed:A friendly fire ("blue-on-blue") incident on 25 March 2003 in Basra in which one Challenger 2 of the Black Watch Battlegroup (2nd Royal Tank Regiment) mistakenly engaged another Challenger 2 of the Queen's Royal Lancers after detecting what was believed to be an enemy flanking manoeuvre on thermal equipment. The attacking tank's second round entered the open commander's hatch of the QRL Tank and detonated internally, destroying the tank and killing two crew members. It remains the only Challenger 2 to be completely destroyed on operations.[8]
August 2006 - the driver of a Challenger 2, Trooper Sean Chance, lost three of his toes when an RPG-29 penetrated the lower frontal hull armour (which is significantly weaker than that of the turret) during an engagement in al-Amarah, Iraq.[9]
April 6, 2007 - in Basra, Iraq, an IED shaped charge penetrated the underside of the tank, resulting in the driver losing a leg and causing minor injuries to another soldier[10].
not saying the Chally isn't a good tank, but i think you need to look at oprational numbers in theater...
M1A1,M1A2 variants in theater in first gulf war
The Abrams remained untested in combat until the Gulf War in 1991. A total of 1,848 M1A1s were deployed to Saudi Arabia. The M1A1 was superior to Iraq's Soviet-era T-55 and T-62 tanks, as well as Iraqi assembled Russian T-72s, and locally-produced copies (Asad Babil tank). The T-72s like most Soviet export designs lacked night vision systems and then-modern range finders, though they did have some night fighting tanks with older active infrared systems or floodlights — just not the latest starlight scopes and passive infrared scopes as on the Abrams. Only 23 M1A1s were taken out of service in the Gulf[5] and none of these losses resulted in crew deaths from Iraqi fire. Some others took minor combat damage, with little effect on their operational readiness. There were only 3 tank crew members wounded beyond doubt by enemy action

Operation Desert Storm
180 Challenger tanks were deployed to Saudi Arabia for Operation Granby, the UK operation in the Gulf War. The Challenger claimed 300 kills against armoured vehicles for no losses. It also has the distinction of the longest range tank-to-tank kill in military history, destroying an Iraqi tank at a range of 5.1 km.
first gulf
23 tanks out of action (including friendly fire incidents)
23/1848= .012 loss rate
using accepted losses to other MBT action
0/1848 = 0 loss rate
chally's lost (including friendly fire incidents)
0/180= 0 loss rate
yes those are rough numbers, but still.
you cannot really examine the numbers from the second gulf war, as ANY tank being used in urban warfare is against its design.
these things are open field killers, not building fighters.
props to the chally here
The extended range of DU penetrators combined with the highly accurate fire control system and gun of the M1A1 provided American tanks with a considerable advantage over their Iraqi counterparts. While Iraqi T-72 tanks had an effective firing range of under 2,000 meters, U.S. tanks had an effective firing range of approximately 3,000 meters. In one case, the frontal armor of a T-72 was penetrated by a 3,500 meter shot (over 2 miles) from an M1A1.9 But the longest confirmed kill of the war was by a British Challenger tank, which destroyed an Iraqi tank with a DU round over a distance of 5,100 meters (over 3 miles).10 Even over these extended ranges, the DU rounds proved highly effective in penetrating Iraqi tank armor. In one case, a DU round "hit the turret of a Russian-made Iraqi T-72 tank, passed completely through the turret, and hit (and destroyed) a second T-72."11
M1 props
The unit (part of the 24th Infantry Division) had gone on, leaving this tank to wait for a recovery vehicle. Three T-72's appeared and attacked. The first fired from under 1,000 meters, scoring a hit with a shaped-charge (high explosive) round on the M1A1's frontal armor. The hit did no damage. The M1A1 fired a 120mm armor-piercing round that penetrated the T-72 turret, causing an explosion that blew the turret into the air. The second T-72 fired another shaped-charge round, hit the frontal armor, and did no damage. This T-72 turned to run, and took a 120mm round in the engine compartment and blew the engine into the air. The last T-72 fired a solid shot (sabot) round from 400 meters. This left a groove in the M1A1's frontal armor and bounced off. The T-72 then backed up behind a sand berm and was completely concealed from view. The M1A1 depressed its gun and put a sabot round through the berm, into the T-72, causing an explosion
3-1 from a disabled tank

Nearly all sources claim that no Abrams tank has ever been destroyed as a result of fire from an enemy tank, but some have certainly taken some damage which required extensive repair. There is at least one account, reported in the following Gulf War's US Official Assessment (scan), of an Abrams being damaged by three kinetic energy piercing rounds. The DoD report indicates that witnesses in the field claimed it was hit by a T-72 Asad Babil. The KE rounds were unable to fully penetrate and stuck in the armor, but because of the external damage it was sent to a maintenance depot. This is the only verified case of an M1A1 put out of action by an Iraqi MBT.[7]
Presumably the impacts set the storage boxes on fire
Six other M1A1s were allegedly hit by 125 mm tank fire in the Gulf war official report, but the impacts were largely ineffectual
some various rankings
PARIS, [June 14, 2004] ? In light of the global war on terror and Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Forecast International Weapons Group has re-evaluated its annual ranking of the world's best main battle tanks. With an unmatched combat record in Operation Desert Storm (1991) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003-present), the M1A1 Abrams by General Dynamics Land Systems Division has clearly proven itself to be the premier main battle tank in service today. Based on its combat debut with the U.S. 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) during Operation Iraqi Freedom, the M1A2 SEP (System Enhancement Package) Abrams now sets the international standard for main battle tank performance.
"With the demands of the global war on terror, we no longer have the luxury of evaluating weapons systems solely on their performance in the safe confines of a training environment," said Dean Lockwood, author of the Forecast International rankings. "For man and machine alike, combat has a way of revealing previously unknown strengths and weaknesses," Lockwood said.
When viewed through the prism of actual combat performance, the annual main battle tank ranking takes on a radically different character from years past. The Israel Ordnance Corps Merkava Mark IV moves up to second place in the Forecast International ranking. Although generally considered to be outside the mainstream of international tank development, the Merkava series is uniquely suited for the demands of the Israeli security environment. Like the M1A1 Abrams, the Merkava can boast a proven combat record.
Japan's Type 90, by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, maintains its third-place position on the Forecast International list. Drawing heavily on German Leopard 2 technology, the Type 90 is arguably the most technologically advanced main battle tank in service today. However, the Type 90 suffers from being untried in combat. As such, its performance remains essentially theoretical. For the same reason, the Krauss-Maffei Wegmann Leopard 2A6 falls to fourth place. The oft-praised advanced features of the Leopard 2 and the integration of the Rh 120/55 main armament simply cannot compensate for the fact that the Leopard 2A6 remains untested in the crucible of combat.
Fifth place on the Forecast International ranking belongs to the British Challenger 2 by Vickers Defence Systems Division. Like the Abrams, the Challenger 2 has earned a solid combat record during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In comparison with the other tanks on this list, however, the Challenger 2 suffers from the lack of NATO-standard ordnance. Should the U.K. Ministry of Defence adopt the NATO-standard 120mm Rh 120 ordnance as part of the Challenger Lethality Improvement Program (CLIP), the Challenger 2 will likely take over second place on this list.

possibly this you mean
On November 27, 2004 an Abrams tank was badly damaged from the detonation of an extremely powerful improvised explosive device (IED). The IED consisted of three M109A6 155 mm shells, with a total explosive weight of 34.5 kg, that detonated next to the tank. The tank's driver received lethal injuries from shrapnel. The other three crew members were able to escape.
but we digress from the topic of the post.. back on track
we can start a new thread for this is we must
-
One of these videos shows a large IED detonating beneath an Abrams and nearly flipping the vehicle, though the tank landed back on its treads and appeared to have suffered no serious damage as it was still mobile and traversing the turret following the attack.
unannounced if there were any serious casualties in this.

i've been noticing something with focusing vs multiple enemies
you can focus focus focus on one enemy, then when its dead, and you start fighting the next enemy, it says "you must get further into the fight".
one would think that after fighting the first, you are plenty in the fight....

“This fight’s different,†he said. “The enemy’s learned from that. And the technique that they’re using is massed fire against one tank: 14, 18, 20 RPGs — I’ve heard reports of tanks taking 50 RPG hits. It’s a new technique that they’re using, and in fact we’re having some significant damage on tanks that has to be repaired before we put them back in the fight.â€
"About 4,500 troops have served on tanks in Iraq. Of those, three soldiers have been killed inside their tanks by roadside bombs. An additional 10 to 15 crew members have been killed while riding with their heads out of the hatch, standing on the tanks, or, in one case, by an insurgent who climbed onto the tank and shot down into the crew compartment, Gen. Tucker said."
do your homework.

I only looked thru the last 10 pages, so this topic could be buried further than that, but here goes.
Removing Chars / Deleting chars
you should be given the ability to delete chars you dont use any longer, even if just a tick box to flag it for deletion by a dev.
i personally have 5 chars now tied to my email. main, priest(sold), 3 alts, 1 of which i would love to delete. (with wild going prem i can delete all 3 actually
)Changing Email associated with accounts.
In some cases, chars are either given away or sold (priest accounts)
there needs to be someway to disassociate these accounts from the original creator. two reasons
1. these chars count towards your 5 account / email limit (and don't give me the "well use another email" jive.)
2. The new buyer / reciever now has an account tied to someone else's email.... rather a pain for password retrieval etc

that attitude starts you climbing the punishment list fast. mute after mute add up until you get to bans, then bans add up till enough is enough.
