  1. Why not allow 10 hours of SB...but only allow the last 5 hours to be filled with "crash" SB? That way everyone gets the same amount of SB on a crash.
  2. Good to know I'm not the only one. I got kicked and locked out of Pristine, too.
  3. I made a bunch of needles and level those up whenever the pain of weapon smithing gets too much. Those don't eat up all that much metal.
  4. I guess that'd be the best course of action, huh? If they want lumps, sell them lumps. If they want bulk goods, give them bulk goods. What's the pricing range for low QL (say, 30 QL) lumps, anyway?
  5. I'm a little taken back with the 5% loss per a month on it. Yeah, I know it really doesn't add up to all that much, but why not sell it now? I imagine the price for bulk goods will only go down as more and more people complete their projects. Plus a little bit more silver now means I can get enchants to help me with the pain that is weapon smithing!
  6. Would I have to make a thousand door locks in order to get that 2silver? I was hoping to make fence bars or iron ribbons because they both take up a lot of iron. I'd be able to turn some profit (even if it isn't the optimal means of using my iron) without having to waste too much time crafting it as I would for, say, nails.
  7. I don't have any priest friends nor do I have a priest character. Do all priests use door locks to sac or just a particular kind? I'm a bit wary since there doesn't appear to be any replies to the guy's thread. Maybe he pitched it too high? Or maybe a buyer hasn't stumbled on it yet, who knows? So now this begs the other question, how much should I charge for door locks O_o?
  8. So I'm trying to level my mining through the 50s. This means iron. And lots of it. I have no real need for it. I've heard iron ribbons and iron fence bars are a good way to turn a profit and burn my extra iron. What sort of quantities should I expect people to order them in? And what's a good ballpark figure for them? I'm on Pristine.
  9. Or if you wanted to cut down a tree and you had your sickle, longsword, hatchet, ect. all on you.
  10. So rumor has it there's an old trick to leveling WS faster than making a crap-ton of stuff. At least so some people said on chat. Perhaps they were pulling my leg, I don't know. Any ideas?
  11. Minor problem is that my woodcutting is at ~32 and my mining is at ~53. I also find wood cutting more of a chore than mining, so...
  12. So I decided to man up and experiment. Having roughly the same QL tools, items, and skill, I used a skill tracking program and found out I was gaining .55 skill per an hour imping carving knives vs .72 with huge axes. In short, imping huge axes gives more skill per an hour. At least at my current skill of 18. Each recording sessions occurred over an hour and a half.
  13. So I've read some guides. The way to go now is (supposedly) make a crap ton of carving knives and imp them up to +5 your skill. Fair enough. I have also read that making larger weapons (like huge axes) will yield more skill per an hour while eating more iron. That's fine since I'm grinding my mining skill through the 50s and have more iron than I can shake a stick at. So which is it? I did my own very limited experiment with my personal huge axe, but I only did 5 or so tics of skill. It seems that the skill tic number is the same. Are skill tics more frequent with larger weapons or am I missing something here?
  14. Would a 1x1 fit a larger boat? What size boats fit in what size buildings?
  15. It sounds like you guys are pretty well-established. What exactly would I be doing in the village? Are there any particular projects you guys are working on? Edit: I ran through Kingsford. It looks a little...too well-established for me. I guess I'm hoping to join a smaller, newer settlement.
  16. I started a month ago with a bunch of friends. Since then, they have all quit. We had a modest settlement, but things are getting a bit boring playing by myself. Also trying to do everything by my self is getting a bit tedious. I'm fairly active. I play every day. I'm willing to do pretty much anything and everything minus tailoring, rope making, weaponsmithing, leatherworking, surface mining, and farming. And making bricks. Never bricks. I have 55 digging, 50 mining, 45 carpentry, and roughly 42ish masonry. I've been leveling my chain smithing a bit, it's around 35, but I'm really able to do anything besides the stuff in the previous paragraph. I would be more than happy to grind a skill to assist the village if you have a specific position you need filled. Personally I'm seeking a village of friends rather than a village made up of little villages, if you know what I mean. I don't need to be paid X in order to render services Y. I'll dig out that hill and flatten out that area because you're a village-mate. If I would like a tool improved by our blacksmith, I shouldn't have to farm his garden for him. It should be organic and everyone pitches in whenever and whatever they can. That's how we did it with my friends, granted though, there was only 4 of us. A couple more things about myself: While I'm definitely willing to work hard, I am not creative. Everything I've made has been purely functional. My sense of aesthetics is quite stunted, to be frank. I won't need an expansive area for my house--indeed, I'd prefer just to share a house with another person if possible. I'd just need a place for a bed to rack up some sleep bonus. Thanks for reading. I haven't actually joined another village before and I'm pretty new at this game (relatively), so I don't know what I'm supposed to write here...if you have any questions or suggestions, please either PM me in the forum or post here in this thread.
  17. Just a side question... So if I had premium at one time or another my account won't be deleted? Even if said premium ran out 10 years ago and I've been offline for 9 of those years?
  18. So I'm thinking of wearing a mix of studded leather and chain armor (mostly 'cause the chain chest is beyond my ability to craft at the moment). What determines my max speed? Would simply putting on a single chain glove have the same effect as wearing a full suit of chain?
  19. Actually, quite funny, is that I'm currently using a huge axe and studded leather. Neither are particularly high (25-30 QL). My FS is pretty low, like around 7. I did train my huge axe skill to 20 by cutting down trees, though. I've been taking an unacceptable level of damage from clearing the mobs near my deed solo, and I've realized I'm not gaining much FS by running to the guards. I was hoping that going sword and board would allow me to solo mobs while taking less damage. Using the huge axe means that I'm pretty much guaranteed to be getting hit since it doesn't parry all that well. I also don't want to switch to chain mail since I'm doing chores 99.5% of the time. Chain would slow me down too much for most of my duties and it'd be too much of a pain to switch it on for the rare fighting I do.
  20. LMS is what, 4.5 kilos? I got enough wiggle room to accept that. Is the performance difference between a LMS and SWS all that different? If I'm doing any substantial carrying (moving dirt, mining, wood cutting) I'm always, always driving a large cart. A few extra kilos doesn't really bother me. From the sounds of it LMS is the way to go?
  21. Actually now that I reread the wiki entry, it says that the metal shields mitigate more damage but damage quicker? What's that about? Do metal shields offer a combat advantage?
  22. It's unlikely that I'd get far along with casual hunting 'round the deed. So stick with a wooden shield then since they weigh less?
  23. So I'm in the process of expanding our farm. My skill is around 20. What should I be planting? I realize that cotton is great 'cause cotton is always tough to get one's hands on. No one in my settlement is making ropes (or really interested in making ropes), wemp isn't all that high on our priority list. Food isn't all that much of a worry. Pumpkins are pretty solid for making large meals, though, right? Anything else I should really care about for utility or feeding ourselves?
  24. I'll be staying mostly (actually, almost always) on deed. The rate it gets damaged is of little concern to me. Doctor, aren't blocks with shields all or nothing, anyway? Unless you're talking about mitigating damage to the shield itself?
  25. I'm on a Freedom server, so I don't plan to pvp. Not even duel. This would be for solo hunting 'round the deed. So for defensive purposes I've heard large shields are the best, right? I'm not TOO concerned about weight, so I've decided to use large shields. So the question is whether to use a metal or wood one. The metal one would be made of iron and the wood one cedar (cedar is the best for shields, right?) Now are there any differences between metal and wooden shields besides their weight, the rate they take damage (wooden ones taking more), and the materials used to build and improve them? Is the block rate and attack speed reduction the same across the board? Thanks for the help.
