  1. To be honest I just found it irritating and made me less keen to answer you. LOL. Same here. Makes you look childish and comes off as anoying 8) <-- see what i mean.
  2. try talking to doughboy who is usually on. he runs the forums. the other elders are; Doughboy in game or Taliesin on this forum. Fomar Fuegan Potissimus in game or Pottis on this forum Solei Tina
  3. inb4 wild players make comments about spies. but other than that, i applaud you for the generosity and encouraging more of the villagers to use voicecomms as a way to collaborate and socialize. big +1 for that.
  4. Let me share you my first couple weeks on WURM as a newbie and where I'm coming from. After finishing the tutorial, I hopped immediately over to Wild and skipped Freedom. Wild reflected my idea of what a sandbox MMO really is. So I paid for 2 months of premium immediately because everything the developer described sounded awesome! However, after much researching on the wiki and playing, I started to realize that pvp in WURM is a lie and the developer was incompetent at best at building a pvp-based MMO sandbox similar to others I've played in the best. But I still enjoyed the terraforming aspect of WURM. I solo'ed for a week before joining a village but the village turned out not for me. They were nice people but I realized a better part of my socializing and education would come in the form of voice communication. I HATE TYPING as a form of communication. Why take 2 minutes to type it out when you can say it in 10 seconds. No one was ever on vent. So I went back to soloing and exploring on my own. I found empty deeds that I could loot and live off and accelerate my goals and grinding. It was fun finding an empty deed and seeing what I could loot . I was really living off the land! It was the good life for me. I really enjoy the challenge of trying to survive solo and seeing if I could achieve my goal of having my own little place called home on a so-called dangerous server like Wild. After awhile, I got stuck and there were certain aspects of the game that I simply didn't grasp very well such as flattening or other tiny nuances. I was frustrated at not having a resource I can tap into to quicken the pace. I don't mind a challenge but patience wore thin with some of Wurm's stupid mechanics. I eventually gave in and applied with another village in JK called Tyre; http://wurmonline.com/forum/index.php?topic=44711.0. They are who I am with now. The have helpful vets who have given me some goodies and most of all, they actually are on Vent, which is a big deal for me. They let me go build my own little village and do what I want. My only angst is most of the villagers are vets and not enough noobs around for me to collaborate with. Say, building a new deed. I think it's fun to work on a project together even it is a bunch of noobs building a noob deed with a noob farm with noob skills and noob equipment. The journey is as much fun as the destination itself. That issue aside, I still have the best of both worlds; support and some collaboration from vets while still going solo and exploring on my own. That is the ideal I've been in search of.
  5. Simple idea; We should be able to view the history of a player and what villages he has joined. This gives more depth to the character and more importantly allows a village to decide whether they wish to let him in. By seeing what villages he has joined, you can take an educated guess if he is a spy or village hopper, a newbie, and so on and so forth. The Character History will show the following; When the character was first created Villages he has joined . It will include the Join and Leaving date Note that you will never know for certainty, but you can take an educated guess and allow mayors to make a more informed decision to bring someone in. The goal here is to allow people to make an *informed* decision.
  6. Critical Mass?

you'd probably need more than that to get any *decent* pvp. given that maybe 10-20% of the population is on any time, then a mere 50-100 people on Wild simultaneously isn't much considering how big the world is. unless, of course, you are asking for 500 players on simultaneously? I'm a noob on Wild and I don't get how freedomers are scared to join Wild. Aside from my own villagers, I will go for a week before seeing anyone in local (and they're usually friendlies). I joined the game for the pvp side but I've come to accept that it's more of a crafting game...which is fine with me. Regardless, it would be awesome to have more people join Wild if not to pvp, then to at least collaborate and play together. it gets lonely sometimes
  7. lol. Not that hard to interpret what the guy was asking for based on the subject line. Let's see here; Village = village Francais = I'm french. Posted in recruitment forum so maybe it means, "I'm french and looking for a village."
  8. is there a daily decay rate?
  9. how much damage does a wall or fence need to take before it dissapears?
  10. I endorse this village. The mayor and village elders are saints and are extremely helpful. Strongly recommend that you have access to Vent as most of the social and education part of the game is found through the vent.
  11. Can't speak for the OP but as I also new to WURM, I find the interface and gameplay needs to be improved to increase new player retention. I'm no idiot and I've played other complex MMO sandboxes. But there are many things that the developer can do to enhance the gameplay for new players. I'm not looking for a handout. There is a difference between complex and complicated. Aspects such as learning how to flatten is complicated. I swear you need to be an engineer to understand the mechanics of flattening
  12. where do i find the key bindings file? the wiki says i can find it here C:\Games\Wurm\configs\default but there is no \Wurm directory
  13. player cities, housing, a crappy economy, crafting and hopefully some space themed stuff but not necessary. All this stuff we got fixed that for you
  14. is it possible to build on a deserted deed or villages even though there is construction still there? or does one need to destroy everything there before building a new house? and how do you know if the deed is deserted?
