  1. Why go with the WoW auction-house system?

Having to pay/day is too expensive if you're asking for 3 coppers/day.

This works for auctions but it isn't useful for the merchant posts we have on the forums.

My shop has 50-100 items at any time in stock, do that *3 copper equals 1.5S - 3S a day.

I would need to sell a lot of items/day to even pay for those costs alone.

So if you're selling that one rare you just made on the auction house then yeah it will be somewhat useful, if it has any reach with so few items on it.

I suggest getting rid of the daily fee, this game isn't so large that it needs it.

Give us a maximum amount of slots we can fill up like we do with our merchants now and when you sell something you pay the tax on that sale.

It won't kill off the merchant feature because the ones we own now don't generate much silver anyway. I'm keeping mine just because I like the idea of it, the forum store makes way more silver.

This is how EverQuest II does it and it's way more suitable for smaller communities, since it's always nicely filled up.

Moreover, showing new players a nearly empty auction house is detrimental to retaining new players.

  2. They're not going to tell you weeks upfront when they're doing a big sale.  That will only nullify sales up to that date.

If they do a black Friday sale and they most likely will, they will announce it a week upfront of less.

  3. I prefer the new website over the old one.

It needs work, but it's a start.

All they've really got to do is change the logo and images they used.  the images part they already know, and the logo probably as well from all I've read here.

And why don't they use the pretty logo they put on the bottom of the pages as the main logo, or keep the old one?  They look much better.

-1. I have a butchering knife with the glow rune, I don't want to constantly equip the knife to be able to use the light source of the rune.

The glow should be disabled when put in another container inside inventory, that's the only solution that makes sense for both sides of the argument.

The inventory is a container :)

And why did you put it on a butchering knife? :P To see which parts are for consumption and which are not when you're butchering in the dark?

  5. Can't they just hold back the twitter/discord announcement for a week or so? that shouldn't mess too much with WurmNode and whoever else needs that data.

It's annoying to find every deed that falls looted within the hour.

I play on Xanadu and an alliance members deed fell this week and 30 minutes later there was already someone looting the place.

I used to like roaming the area and explore fallen deeds to find cool stuff when I started playing years back but for the last several years the nice finds have been sparse.

  6. Why would I buy these gems instead of just mailing the item to a priest and paying for a 90+ enchant? It could be that these gems end up being a lot cheaper when being sold by players, but it could take 1 gem or 5, or 10 to get the enchanting power I want.

When you get a priest to cast it on the item I'm sure that I'll have the enchant for a specific price.

I'm not sure if this new system will be used all that much.

You're aware this is mmo.. and nothing protects your item, on death - currently that's body bag for 72 hours was it..

If you just drop an item.. you'll be a wacky lunatic losing it's stuff all around randomly, and when you die - ONLY IF.. you know how it works.. you'd be looking around logs, etc.. if you dropped something..

It's just terrible idea with additional random weird mechanic to track and stress over..

I normally do not, but I've forgotten my tent 2-3 times since rifts were implemented.. distractions, being tired, in a hurry, irl events, etc

    While tents have permissions and you'd find them where you left them.. better yet, you have "probably" good idea where you left it, you'd be looking at random death location.. to find an item which have no protection at all;

    - add protections... oh great.. when we'll look around at random new player dropped and protected items, similar to piles of f2p gear dropped in piles around starting towns..x

You're making this way bigger than it actually is, players dying and dropping their items is not what makes the most of them quit, it's standard in the genre.

I saw some people in this tread complain about it, wanting to get rid of it all together. I find that a really bad idea and I wouldn't even change the current system.

So I came up with a middle ground idea to cater to your and my side.  Both of the ideas have been used in other games so they're not terrible.

so losing and not realizing you've dropped your rare/supreme/fantastic item is perfectly fine?

    "interesting", pass

It would be really easy to log something in your event chat like "you've dropped your rare short sword while being revived in Linton"

  9. The fear of losing stuff when you die is a good thing, even on PVE.  It adds to the adventure, the world is dangerous and it should feel dangerous.

I remember making big circles around spiders just to not aggro them, Because if you die you lose stuff and you don't want that.

Now nothing can kill me (only those mobs that spawn when you do your treasure maps :P) and it takes away from the gameplay.

Losing everything is a bit harsh maybe, so maybe it's better to just loose everything from your inventory that ain't beginner gear and keep your equipped items on you.

Or every item on you has a 10% chance to drop on death, so you lose some but not all.

I really, really don't think graphics are as important as gameplay.

Case in point: Minecraft has sold 238 million copies, which makes it the most sold game in history. Minecraft's graphics are much more basic than Wurm.

Yes, but Minecraft has a better art style, and that does matter.

Wurm wen't with a "realistic"(for the early 2000's) look, which looks not all that great in 2023.

And no engine is going to change that with an art team of 1-3 people.

So that's something that can't be much done about.

However we can deal with that pesky tutorial, and that's what the dev team is putting their focus on.

    Which is great :)

  12. Two days ago I noticed one of my ships went missing, it was my Blueberrywood Caravel.

As with most caravels it was a decoration piece, one that just sits there looking pretty but one that hardly ever (never) gets sailed around with.

So I didn't notice it taking damage.  The cog next to it was doing just fine taking little damage so I never bothered to check the caravel.

Also, ships sink when they take large amounts of damage, or so I thought.

Apparently the sinking hardly shows on large ships. So on January 4th it hit 100 damage and poofed.

My request is to increase the height difference of sinking on the larger ships, so it looks similar to what the smaller rowboats and sailboats do.

    RIP Blueberrywood Caravel 😪

    thanks :D

[21:08:52] The items silently disappear from the spirit castle. You expect them to reach Nursebella in less than ten minutes.

Thank you for the order :)

No one has known what was good for the game since the departure of notch lets face it gone are the days of 8k subs(currently at 4500 according to gcg) with just 2 servers and 50% of the content we have now and way worse graphics.

The players have been really vocal for a very long time about the missed opportunity or screwup after screwup that has come out and every time we were told "we will do better" and it was never the case so honestly I think the last person who really knew what was good for the game left and made wurm light aka minecraft and look where that went

Old games lose players, that's how it goes with most of them.  And yes, the players have been vocal, all shouting different things, just check the suggestion posts.  We've all got a different opinion on how to move forward with the game.

This is entirely false. 99% of the bugs and mechanic fixes are reported by players. I hope this is a troll post, if so congrats I’m triggered lol.

bug fixes have nothing to do with the further direction of the game.  We as players can express our ideas and suggestions in this forum section, but a few players shouldn't be deciding what get's put next into the game and in which way.  That's the job of the the devs, the gamedesigners.

Everyone should keep submitting their ideas and discuss them, but the devs decide what comes in.

I kind of took it as a case of too many cooks. I think player feedback is important but if you smash it all together into a huge soup of everyones ideas its going to be a total mess.

But thats why this forum category exists, so people can share ideas and then the devs can decide what is best based on a wide range of feedback.

    Exactly!
