  1. I just saw a Doc on the war of 1812.  when the US invaided Canada. and we kicked their butts back. and even made it to Washington and burned the white house. lol  didn't know that happened.  glad we're all freinds now.

     

    Just trying out help out our French buddies. I for one am glad you took a bit of our land; more room to make maple syrup.

    i may not have any pets unless a baby Hedge Hog counts ^.^ i will try to catch a shot of him with my new camera but its hard since she is asleep most of the time and is only a couple of weeks old, will try to get a shot of it but no promises, she does not have a name yet but we are still deciding on a couple of them, i keep calling her Sniffels,no promises on that photo though since im a lazy boy!

     



    A baby hedgehog most certainly counts. 



  3. Wow, this looks awesome. I wish my server did things like this, but it being PvP, it would probably be rather griefed. Make sure you take a lot of screenshots, so those of us who can't attend can see the fun.

    Call me picky but I'll pass based on this alone.

     

    First thing I noticed too. Immediately paused to make sure I wasn't the only one. Otherwise, looks okay. They need better writers though.


  5. Yah I'm having a problem where we built a 3x3 before the 1.1 update.  We go to add another 1x2 section onto the 3x3 building and then destroy what used to be the outside walls that connect us to the expanded addition (the outside is still completely enclosed) and now beds won't work.  

    Had the same problem. Decided to just move entirely. I wish there was an ETA on the fix.


  6. There are several very vocal people requesting that combat be changed to a player-skill-based system, rather than a character-skill-based system.

     

     

    Because if Rolf and the dev team bow to the vocal minority, they will spend their very limited time coding this new combat system instead of spending that time on bugs and new features that are being asked for.  This new "sorcery" system is case-in-point.  If sorcery hadn't been added, how many bugs would have been fixed instead?  Would bridges have been added?

     

    Skill based does not mean twitch-aiming. Skill can be many things, and right now, "skill" means dedication to farm your skills.


  7. Sounds to me like you never even experienced PvP. :rolleyes:

    I used a bit too much hyperbole, but you get the idea. So, with two players facing each other on open ground, what type of strategies can you use to give yourself an upper hand, using base combat mechanics? Because the only real deciding factor would be whoever has, or does not have a special move. What kind of tactics and strategies do you suggest? Because I honestly can't even think of a single thing in combat that makes me think.

     

    I'm not talking group PvP, either. Since group strategy and tactics can be used even with zero combat depth, it doesn't really count as a "feature." 


  8. The combat, if it's changed, won't be "twitch reflex FPS" style. I mean come on guys, use a little sense, and figure out that the combat will still be heavily based on stats if it's changed. The game won't suddenly become Quake. Just because the combat gets improved, doesn't mean you're actually going to have to try. It should AT LEAST be changed to allow strategy, because at this point, there's no difference between an AFK player and an active player when it comes to combat.


     


    If this game isn't a PvP-centric game to you, then why do you even care?

And that's the problem with this suggestion, in a nutshell.  Wurm Online is 100% about the character's skill, not the player behind the keyboard.  Please, for the love of Pete, do not spend any development effort on a new combat system until all of the building/crafting additions and bug fixes are in place.  If anything, combat should be less emphasized as it is.

     

    In my humble opinion, I would prefer not to attract the kind of MMO player how demands twitch-based combat.  

     

    Che, you keep forgetting to write "for me" in your posts.  You don't speak for everyone, especially not me.  For me, fighting is a VERY MINOR part of the game, one that I avoid when possible.  Combat is the LAST thing I want to do when I log in.

     

    What sets Wurm Online apart from the other MMO's out there is the world building and crafting system.  If you want a fancy combat system, there are plenty of games out there that provide that already.  Personally, I'll go play Borderlands 2 or Quake 3 if I want to do some combat gaming.

    Posts like this disturb me. You want your game to be worse, simply because you don't want other people, who prefer other MMO's as well, to enjoy it? You're what is wrong with games these days.
