Things in your Perimeter decay 25% slower than those outside the perimeter. I noticed this on my perimeter fences and tested it with 2 identical piles of woodscraps taken from a BSB. I think it is meant as a bonus for perimeter fences.

Yes leave it as it is. The people on my KOS list are ones that have stolen/griefed me + known offenders in the community. If we had to explain that would mean thieves would get at least one shot at everyone before they could be KOS'd. which would mean a much longer time before they were 'inconvienced' enough to stop. For instance ; there was a group that moved into our area and began taking every cart, boat, and materiels they could. Once word got out and they were KOS'd on everyones property around them they created alts and started over but were more respectful the second time. If we had to wait to get hit then explain why it would have taken months instead of 2 weeks!

The reason that there is no available land as soon as you pop in is that is what everyone else did. Also the same reason there are no trees everyone wanted to cut down a tree first thing and did not replant them. So once you are in go to the wiki-map of wurm, find a big green area and head there. The more roads and settlements you see on the map the lower the chance of unclaimed land nearby. But yes a Fishing pole and sickle should be considered standard equipment for starting out.
