  1. Two new server types always come to my mind when the suggestion of adding another is mentioned. One would be something never done before, a server with no aggressive mobs on it. It would function exactly the same as all the current PvE servers except for this and can be traveled to the same way. I would think this would attract a lot of players both new and old since they can come and go freely from it, as well as making their deeds there to live. The second would be a "hunting" type of server with more and new types of aggressive mobs on it connected to the others by sailing. No deeds allowed and other restrictions on building as appropriate. Although I don't think it would attract as many new players as the non-aggro one because of these deed and building restrictions. So it would be something more attractive to the current playerbase. =Ayes=
  2. Galatyn, Although I appreciate your generous spirit unfortunately this paying for other's services does not enforce the independent spirit upon which the Epic servers are founded and hope to prosper in the future. So even if you were to pay this 10c for everyone using these portals the crutch of dependency would still be the end result. With this said I let you come to your own conclusions as to my support. =Ayes=
  3. Very nicely composed and for that I appreciate it. Reminds me of the theme of some old science fiction books I used to read and just as applicable here. By that I mean it is fiction but nevertheless it does lead me to something that I have been waiting for for years and that is for players to appreciate the game for what it is and offers. There are always ways that the game can improve and it is fine to present them on these forums but all too often they degenerate into these doom and gloom predictions that if things are not changed in this way or that the game will soon end. Anyone who has remained within this game for many years might wonder when this end will arrive. Supposedly it should have long ago. How long must they wait? Meanwhile other players both old and new continue to enjoy playing the game. How are they able to do this? Are they just under the Nero syndrome while Wurm burns? Maybe it has more to do with their general outlook on things. Perhaps they just look back at all the years that have passed since they have played the game and seen all these dire predictions from others over the years of which nothing has become. The game still continues onward and with many many improvements over all those years obvious to them. To make suggestions under the implied threat that if they are not implemented and soon that there is no hope for the game to survive and prosper is a hollow threat since those that do so attempt to force changes that they want with this retribution. If anything has some effect to destroy the game it is that attitude for with their own words they condemn the game to failure. Better they stop stomping their feet when they don't get their way and accept the fact that others than them will decide the best way for the game to proceed. If you own enthusiasm for the game fades don't blame it on something other than yourself. Take up your own responsibility for this. Admit that it only held your interest for a period of time and move on and don't pop back in on these forums in an attempt to justify your departure with the complaints of others about the game. True they are like you in not accepting their own responsibility for their dissatisfaction and might too soon leave to reinforce your own opinion that it certainly is no fault of yours that you stopped playing but a failure of all these other reasonable suggestions that were never applied to make the game exactly as you would like it to be. Yes, I have been waiting for years for the types of players I described to appreciate the game for what it is, enjoy what it offers and hope for more of the same improvements to continue to be made to it as the game Developers decide it is best. Yet I know I would wait for eternity for this to happen because people of this mindset can only cope by blaming others for their problems and dis-satisfactions in life. Since my time now grows short I try to enjoy what the day offers with little thought wasted on what it does not. So too the way of Wurm. Happy Trails =Ayes=
  4. Sailingsuzye, appropriately you have once again raised the sail of disdain for this intrusive wind that blows through the event window making its otherwise clearness opaque with this greenery. Although I do enjoy the color green within Wurm and the symbolic representation of importance, in this instance I concur with your objectiveness. Before the mast we all stand in judgement! =Ayes=
  5. Pretty easy as they will just offer the various Freedom PvE servers to choose from after you click the portal to bring up these options. =Ayes=
  6. If you think you would enjoy playing the game without being grief killed by random players it may be best to find an Epic Portal and choose a Freedom PvE server to instantly travel to. Once there you can learn/enjoy the game free of being player killed until you decide if you want to travel to the Epic servers again through a portal on the Freedom PvE servers. I would think there might be more that interests you then pvp in the game but if not then at least you could make a post to attempt to be safely recruited to some deed on Epic. There is also Chaos too where it seems a more common procedure to recruit players to their deeds from the Freedom PvE servers, as well as it being a more active pvp server than the Epic ones. =Ayes=
  7. Nice Shop name! I would like to purchase this item: Pickaxe 89 CoC, 5.30 QL for 50 copper. Please CoD to Ayes. Thank you. I presume it is Iron because if not I don't want to purchase. Perhaps it would be a good idea to mention this (Iron or Steel) in your ad. =Ayes=
  8. I was sad to see your post title changed to "Going Out of Business" as you have been there on Pristine for years and no doubt benefited many players with your horse sales and generosity. Yet I am glad the read that you are just taking a break from it all and will remain enjoying your time there and am sure you will help other players when they shake you out of your restful sleep in the darkest of the night needing assistance in their horseless plight of dire circumstances. So here's to wishing you the best in the months and years ahead until the remotest of possibilities occur that the sun of Pristine shall never rise again. Until then await and enjoy the new sun's arrival. Happy Trails =Ayes=
  9. Not to distract from these governmental ideologies but in essence the Epic servers represent freedom from oppression by the use of force if necessary, or even just for the sake of the baser instincts which tend to come to the forefront under these circumstances. In light of this I will have to retract my approval of mailboxes as a substitute for the Epic Portals since these portals are a representation of this defiance of authority to all who might tremble in fear under it's control upon the PvE servers. Therefore too these Epic Portals should be allowed to continue to operate as such currently do there, with the addition of course of the 10 copper charge per use to support the noble cause of freedom upon the sacred ground of these various Epic Isles. As a side note to all who would scoff at my hint of support for these Epic servers, I did play there on another of my Premium accounts (undisclosed) for several months when they first opened after which I eventually departed never to return again. Why? Well that is another story for another post more appropriate to the topic and anyone who knows me knows that I am all for appropriation if it is an approximation of the effort expended. =Ayes=
  10. *waves at Soniczap* That deed name somehow seems familiar Maybe you should make a post in the recruitment section of Xanadu. =Ayes=
  11. The Trolls in these camps should all have player names and then I might be ok with at least going to see who has moved in. =Ayes=
  12. The main death knell I see in your suggestion is exhibited here. Actually the "old" players previous to this change that you propose are the heart of the game and "new" players are just speculative ones that may arrive under this lure. The problem being that you break the game concept of progression for all the "old" players by allowing newer ones this fast tract in characteristics and skill gains, which can then move over to their existing servers. Possibly even worse is the experience of these newer players after the *fix* wears off, meaning that their high is now gone and they are for the first time experiencing the shock of playing the game at 1x1. So not even a good idea for this added reason, which I think is second place to the first I mentioned of more importance. Don't forget also that there are a lot of account sales in this game and your suggestion offers the perfect opportunity for account sales profiteers to skill up accounts with focus on the much more slower skills to rise and then $$. Add to this the additional fast rising of normally slow characteristics and a lot of "new" player accounts will enjoy the profits of being created and "played". Just a bad idea all around which can't be justified by stating that it is good because we need more new players and this might help. Naw... =Ayes=
  13. Not too sure on how you can label all these skills that require action as "non-action skills". =Ayes=
  14. I would definitely be against putting Rolf in a position where he had to answer other players questions as I think it is well known how these types of inquisitions work out. This is why I think a post from him with his own thoughts about Wurm's evolution over the years being locked from other's responses would provide the best insight into his own viewpoints. Not that I am anticipating this happening but I have developed a lot of respect for how he has sustained the game all these years and of course a certain sense of gratitude for providing such an enjoyable way to pass the time, for as the clock winds down who can say what is just beyond tomorrow. =Ayes=
  15. Due to your intuitive grasp of this concept you have come up with an even better contribution to enhance this suggestion, to which I agree. That being instead of using Epic Portals players can use mailboxes instead. As there are so many mailboxes available on a readily basis Epic Portals should be eliminated which will reduce the need for products wasted upon their construction. This would eliminate their eyesores in the process and they should have 5x decay added to them both on and off deed to make the servers a more visually pleasing environment. =Ayes= p.s. They can mail their whole bodies and not just the part you mentioned though as that might be too smelly to travel alone.
  16. I would like to find a Ring of Bell. Then you could always carry that sound around with you (me). =Ayes=
  17. Great suggestion! I agree that we need a "towing rope" being able to be crafted by ropemakers with high skill. Even then it shouldn't require but maybe 10 ropes woven together in some manner. Then just attach to each boat to tow the one behind (last attached). =Ayes=
  18. They should be stackable too and then you could have sort of a zoo display. =Ayes=
  19. Do you really think so? I have to admit that it is questionable if you take it seriously but I hardly think that it is the "worst" idea ever posted on this forum. Many more come to mind from those who would be considered Trolls from the other side of the coin. Hey, maybe we should have players portraits on the Wurm coins too. Then they could become collectables! =Ayes=
  20. Anyway, I would really like Rolf to make some long post of his reflections back upon his time as the Developer of Wurm. I think it would be really interesting to read. Of course in a thread with no comments from others allowed, then he wouldn't need to be bothered by the negative comments of a few. =Ayes=
  21. I would like to see options to remove other things from that menu as well. (tracking, etc, etc) =Ayes=
  22. In order to help finance the deeds on the Epic servers I say that the Epic Portals should automatically deduct 10 copper per use from the player. Then these funds would be distributed into all the deeds upkeep on that server monthly. This should certainly bring more life to Epic in terms of deed sustainability by reducing their monthly costs. If the PvE servers ever get Epic function portals this charge should apply to them as well. Fair is fair... =Ayes=
  23. The questions you posed about highways under the new catseye system are quite expansive and lengthy as they now have crossed (invaded?) all servers leading on each in many directions of routes, alternates, dead ends into deeds (so to speak) and beyond with their blue lighted potential. As the green lighted ones represent a complete route that must link deeds at each end or circuit there can be no invalid highways or those green lights would be the other color perhaps not so glowing and noticeable to some. As I see it, or sometimes don't, this system was setup mainly to reduce GM intervention with highway disputes and set a standard whereby highways would be relegated as the same status. Also there is the additional inconvenience of removing these catseyes which reduces the casual destruction of highways by those so inclined to do so for whatever reasonings pass as their thought processes. A sort of two birds with one stone ricochet effect in which one reinforces the other without constant GM oversight to overlook the out of sight long distances covered that should not be uncovered. You ask also why should players be able to remove these catseyes at all, to which I agree to a certain extent beyond these extensions. I had always stated that only the player who planted these catseyes be allowed to remove them and easily as well. Then if any other players wanted these catseyes removed they would have to contact the GMs to do so. Of course now the GMs must be involved again, to which I say they rightfully should be, but apparently this points to the thought again that this highway catseye system is intended to reduce their interventions as much as possible. Now this may be good or bad or work or not but in the end there will arise situations where the GMs must be involved and as with the removal of others catseyes I would say that they should be. Is this catseye highway system a more symbolic decorative impediment designation that anything else then? Well they have added a few things in an attempt to make it more functional and perhaps more will be added to it in the future. Myself I find this catseye system not worth bothering with generally speaking and even if I did want to connect my deeds to it I would need to redesign the buildings which give everyone access to my deeds by either removing them completely or putting an open passageway through them, which would then allow all aggressive mobs to enter my deed as well. Since the old highway system provided access and passage to and through my deeds I am not about to alter them to accommodate what is already available just to have the *status* of a "highway" connected to them. Even if anyone would then tear up these two lane no longer highways to my deeds they are just cutting off their own feet by ruining their access to points further. Then when they have tired of their mischief I would just repair these no longer highways and players could happily be on to their parts unknown once again. In the end I see some merit to this new catseye system but not enough to make changes to my deeds to accommodate them, which yeah I already said in other words. For those who are happy with it or enjoy what it provides, great too! Wurm life goes on for those who remain... =Ayes=
  24. I would like to purchase the #5 Shovel, Iron, WoA 98, QL 62.55 for 80 copper. Please CoD to Ayes. Thank you. =Ayes=
  25. True enough. Generally people find the unknown to be strange but in the case of fragments it is all the more so because they are just a tiny part of the unknown. Then you would have to find enough of them to complete the unknown and what have you accomplished really since it still remains unknown. Yet you might be better off not knowing anyway. So in the end I think it all works out fine, even if it does unknowingly. =Ayes=
