  1. A month or so ago my guy extended the Haven Docks Highway east of Villa Rosea (now disbanded) at about 50x48y straight to the East Crystal Highway. It is 2 lanes wide and could be Catseye'd if anyone wants to do that part as I am not going to. =Ayes=
  2. Full Steam Ahead

Yeah, pretty hard for WO to make enough profit to even keep it going at those WU discount prices. I am sure they will keep both WO and Steam WO on the subscription basis. Then players can buy a small deed at minimal monthly expense (if any really if they go for some of those coin drop options in game) and expand into a larger one if they feel the need. Maybe they will eventually add in a Cash Shop with a few "uncraftable" items but I can see the negative aspect of this by restricting them from player creation or obtaining in game through certain offerings. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out... =Ayes=
  3. Yep! People really need to be careful of you implementing (stealing) so many of these QoL changes on your server. Next thing you know they will be playing there instead of on the WO servers. Very detrimental to the *real* game. =Ayes=
  4. Definitely a Yes! to this point. Every time I check my deeds Info I am very paranoid about inadvertently clicking the "Disband" option. Although it can be "undone", really it should be moved to the bottom of the list since it is the least likely choice to be used anyway. =Ayes=
  5. I could give you a *guest-timate* about it but it would just be idle speculation so.... =Ayes=
  6. Full Steam Ahead

Great to have you as the new Production Manager of Wurm Online and confirm this statement once again. I am sure many will continue to play on the current WO servers after a curious jaunt into the new Steam one(s) when it is available. Personally it would be similar to my experience with WU where I played there on and off while always keeping my main account Premium with a few deeds. Steam WO will just be another option for us old timer WO players and no doubt some of the new Steam WO players will want to check out our servers here too. More choices are always good for players and the game so I see a lot to look forward to here with even some QoL changes thrown into the mix. =Ayes=
  7. A positive decision I would say, with so many possibilities opening. As none can predict the future the only way to find out is to move forward with it. I for one an hoping for the best and will watch with interest for further information and progress. Always nice to see you keep that one eye focused upon us with care and concern. =Ayes=
  8. Due to the imperious and unfounded claims of this posthumus preposterousness we have sent out our undercover altitudes of Inside on the Outside Investigative Services to disparage these various clams (sp intended). The results are as follows..... Wurm Online launching on Epic Game Store! Notch remained securely within his V shaped tree refuge and would not come down for comment about any participation within this venture, although he was very generous in offering all the woodscraps we could carry at the base of his whittling tree. Tim Sweeney remains in hiding due to various Wurm players attempting to hunt him down for his non-delivery of various items and character sales. Show off your moves! The new owners of Code Club AB remain firm in their stance against dance due to religious objections of unseemly actions and torsotoe distortions. The new Elevation map will be lowered to meet the participants standards and renamed Onthelevel. We're gonna take you back to the past! Wurm Classic will be remade with a new flavor and new name (aforementioned). Although it would take players back to the origins of Wurm Online none will be able to log into it due to the old hardware being unavailable. The prizes will still be given out within that environment (non-transferable) should anyone wish to claim them. Retro Promoted to CEO of parent company Game Chest , major shareholder of Code Club's game Wurm Online! Upon receiving this news Retrograde immediately moved to a remote location within the interior of New Guinea to live with the one remaining cannibal tribe in the region and sent his tongue back to HQ to speak in his absence (or someone sent it back anyway). Before departure he drew up his will leaving all shares to benefit the Australian Emu Foundation (no connection to the player Emoo) in the hopes of returning them to flight in the near future. PvP(vE!) Purging is a self destructive method to attempt to control and loose weight and will not be tolerated by the parent company GCG AB. Although some Wurm players secretly followed this practice within the privacy of their own homes it must remain within those confines with no liability of consent or approval implied. The future of the unique mob All valuable items will be removed from them upon death by GM oversight and deposited within the GM trash heap for safe keeping. Due to this it is realized that the participation of players will be low so the overseeing GM will strike the final blow when necessary. Otherwise they will roam the servers freely passing through all objects above and below ground without doing any damage to them. They will wave with a cheery expression upon their faces and may cry out pleading if you attempt to attack them; thus, only the most heartless amongst us will seek to shorten their lives to prove their, what I don't know. There you have it Wurmaintes! The real news behind the news whose views are fews. Always on the outlook against your better judgement our undercover altitudes remain dedicated to dispelling the misspellings of the unfounded. Please don't litter and bury your corpses. =Ayes=
  9. WO Steam Discussion

Contrarily to some that have posted here I am pretty satisfied with how WO is setup now and the updates being made to it. All I would want is some QoL things added such as some of the WU servers have. This thread is about WO on Steam so I think all these proposed changes to the main game should be left out of it. Steam WO can be the testing ground and experiment to mess around with sure, as it will not ruin what WO currently is about. If anything is found to be worthwhile in this experiment of change then it could be considered for an addition/change to the main game. =Ayes=
  10. WO Steam Discussion

I have not seen the developers state that they need to eliminate some servers to reduce operation costs in any substantial way, nor that they want to make the player base more dense on the remaining servers as a motivation. This idea is put forth by players who place little value upon what others have created out of the Wurm environment because they have spent little time on this. The most dramatic part of Wurm is the way that players can transform the environment around them even beyond just their own deed. Then what they leave behind or maintain is a visual history of Wurm and an example to others of what is available for them to do as well. I have no quarrel with those who have no interest in this but rather see Wurm just a a social game or a pvp experience of destroying others but when it comes to destroying whole worlds (servers) just because they have put nothing into them, in this respect then they have gone too far in their self indulgence at others expense. Muse put it well in her posts about deeds designed to fit into the environment (also shaped) surrounding them. Then living there for years after enjoying one's creation can't be replaced, moved elsewhere or paid off with $$$$. It's not "all about the money baby!". Also as mentioned by some, players on the new WO Steam servers will miss out on this experience of traveling roads that were built long ago and passing through quaint Villages along side of them if they can not visit the old heritage Wurm worlds (servers). I suppose they could just make a newbie account though to visit them and perhaps be inspired by the possibilities of what they too can achieve over time if desired. =Ayes=

You are giving me some good laughs these days with some of your comments. =Ayes=
  12. WO Steam Discussion

Not really a demo since players could have the *option* (paid) to transfer over with all their skills and carried items. Let them pay premium and have all the benefits and remain on their Steam WO server forever then if they wish. Just have the option to transfer over to the main servers as some might prefer to do that after some time. Isolating each Steam WO server is the only solution then because after a while new players will be added who will never catch up to the others on these servers either. You would need many independent servers with no travel between them. Or wipe the servers after some time like Jackel but few want to loose all they have accomplished. Maybe people really don't want "equality" after all. =Ayes=
  13. WO Steam Discussion

This seems a pretty good idea! Steam WO as a precursor to the main game with a buy-in into it with the players current skills. Players starting there can then see an option to advance into the main game with everyone else. Much better I think than the idea that they will always remain isolated from the other servers until maybe, perhaps it might be decided to merge their server into them. Yes, this is like Golden Valley in the old times when you had to pay Premium to get out of it into the broader world of more players and opportunities to interact with them. Best part of your post! Gharrrr!! =Ayes=
  14. WO Steam Discussion

No doubt some current WO players will start playing on this new Steam WO server. As we have seen with new WO servers these players have the advantage of their knowledge on how the game functions so they can quickly outpace players new to the game but if this new Steam WO server is kept isolated from the current WO servers it will eliminate the additional advantage of current players that have a large bank balance to finance their advancement. This is what has always corrupted the "equality" concept with new WO servers, access to total accumulated bank balance from other servers on the new one. Also, certain money making abilities (trader draining, etc) have had adjustments made to them so that on a new WO Steam server they will not have the same impact. Sales of items to the current WO servers will not be available so this will have an impact on current players starting on the new Steam WO servers just to make coins by dominating certain markets. All this can contribute to a more desirable new player experience by eliminating these current player advantages. If the ability to make $$$$ from playing the game is kept in check it will attract a different type of player in general. Plus *maybe* the Steam policies will impose restrictions upon these types of RL player money transactions. All a positive direction for the game to take I would say. A game people play for fun and make their RL money outside of it. Also, if players want to purchase coins for deeds and player items at least they will need to buy these coins from the Wurm Shop thus helping the game to earn income. Traders could even be made to refuse to purchase players items as they do on Jackal. Even reducing other free coin drops into the game could be done. Then those who want to attempt to make $$$$ would still have the current WO servers available to do so and we would see what type of player these two different approaches attract. Interesting Wurm times, it seems... =Ayes=
  15. WO Steam Discussion

This is what took me on the road to thinking that WO would be "free to play" on Steam with no restrictions as the current game has. Then Retro cleared it up somewhat, that it would be just up to 20 skill with restrictions then players must pay as currently. But then again aren't "all other games" only pay once then all content within them is free? There are monthly subscription games on Steam? Besides the point I guess since Wurm Online will be one (maybe the only one?). =Ayes=
  16. WO Steam Discussion

So if I understand correctly you just want to put a WO server on Steam and make it free to play? What is the point of this then? Just to publicize WO and expose it to a broader base of players who otherwise would not pay to play the main game? Then hope that later they would switch over to the current servers that are not part of Steam and will not be incorporated into it? If it does not effect the main game with the characters that I have in it I don't see how I would care at all about this. If I want to start on a new server with a new character I will much rather play on a WU server or two or more, as I already do this from time to time. Why? Because I can advance my character much faster there than on new WO steam server with the same tedious grind as on the other WO servers. Another thing I don't quite understand is how you make any money from offering these free WO servers on Steam. Maybe that is none of my business but to understand this whole idea and make some accurate opinions about it, it would seem to me an important point to know. As far as "fracturing" the current player base, if anyone has even a basically developed character in WO I find it hard to believe that they would abandon it in favor of either playing WO for "free" or starting over in WO just for the fun of it since they can already play some tedious WU servers with the same 1x grind as WO has. To sum it up. If my current characters remain available to play in WO on the current servers I don't see any negative effects to my game play so would have no objections to this. If a few current players leave the WO servers in favor of this, again, I will enjoy playing as I do on the current servers just as well. If the game of WO can somehow make more income from doing this so much the better since it will enable the sustainment and progress on the current WO servers. One important thing to note on my part is that I have never played Wurm to make $$$$. I have never sold any accounts or coins for $$$$. So less players on the main servers of WO will not hurt my ability to make $$$$ from playing Wurm since I care nothing about that. To me the game is all about the enjoyment I have from developing my characters and deeds and seeing them grow and remain all these years that I have been playing. On the other hand there are those who play Wurm to make $$$$ so "fracturing" the player base would have a detrimental effect on their ability to do so. It would be unwise to ignore this overtone in their responses. Happy Trails =Ayes=
  17. Switched my Shares

Yes, USA citizens can buy shares if they have a trading account that enables this option, purchasing foreign shares on their stock markets. https://markets.businessinsider.com/stocks/game_chest_group_registered-stock Here is a US charting site that offers information on this stock in English. As you can see it trades like a "penny stock" would be noted due to it's price range which fluctuates within the 40 cent range. Various statistics are then provided about this stock/company such as: " Game Chest Group AB engages in the development and distribution of computer games from game studios, producers, and developers. It operates through the GameThrill.io and uCrate.io brands. The company was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden." From this website information (as well as other stock charting websites) people can draw their own conclusions on speculating on this stock and its future. =Ayes=
  18. Switched my Shares

No, the situation is not "cleared up" by your response. He does not state that he will be employed by GCG AB, only that he will be preforming his previous functions of oversight. There is no clarification here if this is done voluntarily in his spare time with as much time put towards this as he chooses. This could very well be the situation or he may be an employee which would entail some sore of payment compensation. Also, this needs to be considered within the context of the post where I stated this for a particular reason, not isolated as it was within your quote and response. =Ayes=

  21. Switched my Shares

Anyone who owns shares in a company wants to see the shares value increase but they have no obligation to do anything to contribute to that unless they are an employee of the company. This is a passive investment. I have seen no statement within this all that Rolf will now be a paid employee to oversee Wurm Online. It is thought that since he now owns shares of the parent company GCG AB he should continue to work in his previous capacity for free? A pretty advantageous deal for GCG AB if they can convince him to donate his time this way just because he now owns some shares of their company. People who take this position as making sense I think should take a deeper look into what they are in effect implying. Rolf sold the company Code Club AB (Wurm Online) and if the parent company GCG AB fails it was a bad deal to take that percentage of payment in shares. If everything turns out well and the share values increase then the risk was worthwhile. To assess the risk one needs to know a fair bit about to the company you are investing in by reducing over one half of your cash payment in shares. Although there is not much public information available about this company GCG AB there is enough available to determine their profit/loss for the 2 years thus far. Simply put, the continued existence and profitability of Wurm Online now lies within their control. Best to at least face what facts there are and not come up with fanciful dreams of what may or may not happen. Ultimately the risk was Rolf's decision to make and he most likely knows more about the situation than we all do here. Basically this post was just to announce to us Wurmanites that the company Code Club AB (Wurm Online) had been sold to this investor and not go into all the details about it other than that. All we who love/enjoy Wurm Online can do is hope for the best, as we have always done all these years... =Ayes= p.s. One thing I am curious about is who owns the other 17.1% of the shares. I vaguely recall they were distributed to a few individuals early on. This is the great mystery to uncover!
  22. New players should stay close to their main base/camp/homestead while they learn the game. The starting area around Haven's Landing is designed very well for this purpose. Then they could gradually explore the area further away from it and move onward when they feel more confident to do so, with a new place to settle perhaps scouted out ahead of time. A reckless exploration into the wilderness will lead to the results you mentioned, whether it be from mobs or just occasional lag within the game. The new player experience is pretty good now with even recent improvements made to it. New players could play for months in Haven's Landing perimeter or staying close to the starter Villages on various servers in relative safety. Beyond that one must accept the risks. =Ayes=
  23. Switched my Shares

Although perhaps not such a bad deal for Rolf (since he accepted more that half of this buyout in shares of a penny stock sort of company started (Listed? in 2017) I am sad to see him relinquish control as the god of Wurm. To me his determination and success in keeping Wurm alive all these years in spite of all the player resistance, condemnations and hope on their part for failure because he did not follow their wisdom in a multitude of areas; was an inspiration in one man standing alone to keep it all going. Make no mistake, all those who did assist him positively in various aspects to make this happen were there ultimately because of him, which is always why I have considered him to be the true god of Wurm (but without the capital G for that would be a bit too much worship, even with my high opinion of his achievement). Now we have new nebulous overlord pretenders to the game with little understanding of it's deeper meanings and significance in the hearts of many players and basic concepts of equality through achievement (other than buying accounts of course). Which direction this will all take none know but the hopers will continue to be hopeful and the doomers continue with the gloom. As to Rolf, I salute you with respect for you have accomplished what few could have imagined yet many had hoped, to create a game based upon the concept of life and the values that it holds. I hope that as your life continues in new and positive directions that you will find the enjoyment within it that many have found within these fond lands of Wurm, so carefully tended by your hands, heart and mind. Happy Trails =Ayes=
  24. Even a slight smile brought flickering into the minds eye can be a time released healing tonic to wounds both old and new. Then as the years recede only perhaps a sadness will remain of toes squished when the thoughtless trodded through these realms unaware of those resting quietly by the wayside ever watching those in passing through the carefully tended forests of possibilities. The chatter of many voices in this wilderness can be disturbing to those who dwell there within the silence of tranquility which they prefer. Think not to change them into what you would wish them to be but rather know that some are not like you and your kind but nonetheless are part of and beneficial to the whole for the variation out of the sameness that they bring to it. What they think you may never know because their thoughts might shatter with the sharing into places beyond their comfort of retreat. I see the light of introspection here searching for something which is not mine to reveal. Those who wander there must discover their own truths with so many seeming to mold them into their own experience to enhance their beliefs. As your Trilogy unfolds here perhaps these words might seem disjointed from the present but they are what springs to mind from the reading. Fanciful raindrops from the sky that will refresh some new thoughts sprouted perhaps and yet if nothing remains left behind from a life lived on one's own terms that will be enough for those that lived it. Even then it was to little effect to those who considered it beyond their worth to consider. Within all this harmony of contradiction you must find your own way or be swayed by every slight breeze of an other's thought, for what is pleasant to one is anathema to another. Happy Trails =Ayes=
  25. Watch out for those convolutions! They will mess up your neural network pretty bad. Just looking at the acceleration rate tells me that the g-force will compress all logical thought into an infinitesimal amount of cognitive space from which there is no return. =Ayes=
