we played for 2 months without fatigue and it caused no discernable issues other than allowing wisdom of vynora, an already problematic spell, to be able to be abused
i don't use alts, i play a lot each day- i don't really want to have to worry about running out of fatigue while grinding or as oblivion said, the myriad of ways that drain fatigue that probably shouldn't
QuoteFatigue, as it stands, is the Wurm way of dealing with this. It seems to be effective - I can't find Wurm gold/silver on any RMT "gold-seller" sites, while WoW gold flows fast and free. If you want to get rid of Fatigue, just saying "get rid of it" is a non-starter. Come up with another way of dealing with the distorted impact of script-laden, unlimited play, and you might have some chance of getting something going. But just saying, "I'm inconvenienced, get rid of it," is a waste of bytes.
🤔
you aren't going to find any of those websites because wurm currency is almost entirely linked to irl currencies and the only way of generating it generates extremely little- and even if you DID generate it, it wouldn't drive much profit due to the extremely small playerbase of wurm
i kept the op short and sweet because there's fairly little to say about it; it's an old system that doesn't work very well for its purpose, arbitrarily limits players who DO spend a lot of time playing per day, and is linked to a particularly dumb spell that needs to be reworked anyhow. people who macro are still going to macro with or without the system, and there's plenty of things they could cycle off to macro that doesn't rely on fatigue.
not to mention the fact that putting an upper limit on development never works in practice if most players dont hit that limit; it just hurts people who do hit it and don't macro. saying 'it works because i don't see any evidence of gold farmers or macroers' seems fairly silly, especially considering for 2 months its been disabled and most people didn't even realize it lol
edit: for clarity im talking about the cluster that actually has people not sfi -
also just remove wisdom of vynora, or make it a 1/day or something that gives castpower/3 sleep bonus https://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/179156-wisdom-of-vynora-changes/&do=getNewComment

player caps work on games where changing teams is fast and easy and doesnt impact much
not in games where you build up deeds over months and can only change once per month -

I genuinely can't tell if this is sarcastic or not.
Yes, it's extremely gamebreaking to be able to mine ore 30 quality above that the vein is (as it makes having high quality veins much less needed, and raises the abundance of such ore/items made from said ore, which in turn devalues literally everything in the game made from said ore)- not only that, but if it allows you to mine that quality above your mining skill, it's even more busted as it greatly devalues the need to even raise the skill in the first place. -
Do a stress test. Place 10-20 bowls with one meat in an oven and light it.
At low skill, you dont always get ticks on meals due to the extremely high difficulty. Fried meat has 5 difficulty and breakfasts 15, so those are best early for skill.
Needs some actual testing done rather than just one-offs. Ensure they only have one ingredient per breakfast.
-
Considering it's gold, feels pretty busted to be yanking lumps 20ql above. Do it on an iron vein next, as it's actually a material that matters and doesn't have such a huge difficulty to mine it top quality.

Coal piles give equal amounts coal, tar and ash. You'll get your ash.

Just make coal piles.

That's it. Just let us place items on walls as if they were on the floor, rotation and all- so i can hang shields, swords, rugs and all that other junk on walls.
Walls feel horrifically empty and silent currently and I feel like plenty of items would be nice to place upon walls for decor. -
how would this work across different skill levels?
If i'm at 20 channeling and link 3 times, i'm losing 15% exp. But my ticks are going to be 10 times as large as someone who's at 70 channeling. It'd be ludicrious to grant even 5% of that tick to the links imho.
Likewise, if i'm a 70 channel priest and im getting tiny ticks, what benefit will someone at 30 channeling gain from gaining a tiny fragment of what my tick is?
It's clever in theory (rewarding links) but falls apart when you consider how skills work in wurm. I feel like if it's in any way useful, it will only be abused somehow- so -1. -
definitely agree that the crafting list could use some restructuring- there's no reason to list every single metal type a lock can be made of as a seperate item. Just have an item that can be made of multiple metals list what metals they can be made of upon hover-over or similar.

Basically, the armor bonus/penalty applies to your faith bonus for casting
Faith bonus caps at 70, and is increased by...
1. Every point of alignment above 49 (or below -49 for lib) is 1 faith bonus
2. Every point of faith above 90 is 1 points
3. Altar faith bonus (which is shown as a spell effect/buff) is 1 per bonus.
Then, the armor penalty functions after that. So at 70 faith bonus, wearing plate reduces you down to 49 or so. I don't know if the bonus to faith allows you to exceed the cap (i've been told it does though).
I'm not certain the exact math on how faith bonus impacts spellcasting, but it doesn't modify the difficulty and just acts as a relatively sizeable bonus after channeling (enough to seriously impact skillgain at certain points)- it's not so huge as to say that casting with the -30% penalty means you're literally 70% as effective as a priest, or 130% as effective for not wearing armor, but it does have an impact. -
The damage has been done in sfi and theres zero resson to balance it there; its probably only going to be given the changes since they need to patch out all servers, but its p clear they dont want that stuff in nfi.
Not sure if its news to you but im assuming the devs are trying to take their chance with NFI much more delicately with all the rebalances and changes and slowed introduction if new content specifically as to not repeat how broken it was in the past.
though it doesn’t really help the argument that the old servers dont matter that much anymore heh

The problem for those recipes is that its not always a flat value, and sometimes a mix of tool ql/skill, so it might be hard to quantify.
there is a big crafting recipe list already though- accessible through the crafting window.

Definitely needs a bigger sample case than just 2 offspring before concluding its a bug, as you might just be unlucky.

Of course, I don't do Java, and I don't have a couple hundred mouthy people crawling up my back every day while I try my best to make things better. I was a GM for almost a decade, and I would argue that no matter what this team is paid its not nearly enough for the garbage they have to sort through on the daily. An open world sand box game is an evolving concept and you should get that if you play it. Asking the devs to say "what will milking look like in 2023" is just silly. We probably have the most attentive and involved dev team that we have had in years, and I would guess the whiteboard in that room looks like Ramses' tomb. The communication over the past few years has been astounding, and while I have had my concerns in the past about any number of things, this group we have now is busting their *ss for this community.
/flagging my own post for being ornery
//wait I can't do that anymore
///not a paid advertisement
Definitely agree the current team is far better than the past, especially when it was basically just rolf.
I will blatantly disagree with the current level of communication being good (unless it's just being compared to old comms,). Can't speak to how hard they're working because I obviously don't know, but the mount of information we have to yank out of the dev's mouths because either Retro doesn't know (which he might just legitimately not know, he's not a dev) or doesn't realize people want to know is frankly insane. See back to the entire 'channel exploiting' clown fiesta where all he needed to do was make the same post he did nearly a month after the original update earlier.
Or, you know- anyone could've just said "hey the spawning system was so bad we basically needed to rewrite the entire code" for the spawning issues instead of just "we're looking at it" for weeks
Recently learned the devs are only contracted part time, so that explains quite a lot of the slowness- im sure they have other jobs on the side. That just means that instead of being upset at the devs, i'm upset at whoever manages the entire game and company because they don't even have full time devs working on such a massive scale game. -
kind of agree, i also dislike people taking off armor just to move faster for a few moments to catch up to someone- should have some sort of timer involved to equip gear

how about we make The Wurm a god for blacklight and rebalance libila/wurm spells so that wurm is more heavily aggressive and libila has more supportive stuff
you know how the wurm was originally going to a god that libila summoned if she won tha valrei scenario, of which the wurm was supposed to be some sort of all-destroying god
b/c all this talk about libila being individually the same god is really weird- libila might have the most variance under a single spell list but over the 3 gods the WL kingdoms have, they have far better utility, especially non-pvp- and all three of those work together in wl kingdoms

Error 35 Compensation

you're not getting any compensation beyond the 10 hours of sleep bonus and you're wrong if you seriously think you're entitled to anything more
not only did the severity of people experiencing error 35 differ between everyone, but they cant possibly even track who was affected by it
