  1. It will be far from perfect, but these are the kinds of projects that push technology forwards. It is definitely good to see.
  2. It's as real as being afraid of tiny little real spiders that cannot harm you in any way either. It's an irrational fear, there's basically no real strong argument that convinces you they're scary. They're just... scary. That's what makes it irrational. Keep in mind that phobia mode was designed to be "worse" than actual spider models. You're not really supposed to play the game this way, but the mode exists for people who can otherwise not play the game at all. There should never be cases of people turning on phobia mode because it gives them an advantage somehow, which is why the models are so small. That said, I think the models can definitely be a bit bigger than what they are right now.
  3. We do not give out coins on Test, unless it's relevant to testing. People who play there aren't really chased out (unless they are disruptive), but the normal playing behaviour is not supported. It is also important to remember that the Test server is not part of the normal game (or any service that you may pay for). You can see it as Rolf's personal little server, but he lets everyone access it. This means it can be shut down, restarted, reset etc for any reason without any warning. Everything you make could be destroyed. This makes it less than ideal to play on it.
  4. Could you try the unstable client? Is there somebody else around your barracks who could download and try to start up the client?
  5. My opinions: 1. Half agreed, though I believe that it's looking from the POV from someone who has already experienced the game as premium. When I was new, I knew there were limitations, but they never really bothered me that much, mostly because I wasn't aware of all the possibilities and restrictions. As most of us are used to being premium pretty much all the time, the free limitations feel really heavy, because you're used to all that Freedom. 2. I don't understand the argument. It isn't odd that players who have more money are able to receive more benefits. That's pretty much how every game with a similar payment model works. The question is, are the benefits of paying so great that it makes you better in an unbalanced way? Personally I don't think so, unless you spend hundreds of euros in a very short amount of time. 3. Most sandboxes are not like Wurm. There aren't many games that give you the same level of freedom as Wurm does. Nowadays, I think there is a lot of documentation available for any player to get started. It's similar to how you start in Minecraft. To be able to do much, you have to invest some time looking up how to do things. Once you did it a couple of times, you'll remember it. 4. There were some banners on some sites at some points, but I don't really know much more than that. Wurm could definitely use more advertising. The question is more, how should it be advertised? Are banners on sites really succesful? I think that the reason why Wurm hasn't exploded, is because Wurm is just not really fun for everyone. The way the game works isn't very popular. Waiting long times for results isn't appealing to a lot of people. At the same time, the developers can't just change the entire direction of their game without losing a lot of existing customers.
  6. If you don't have an SSD already, get one. It might not make a big difference in games (maybe helps a bit with loading times), but it's going to make your computer noticeably faster in general. It's like the easiest and most noticeable upgrade you can get. A 250gb ssd will cost around $100, a 512gb ssd will be around $200.
  7. Don't worry, you cannot succesfully keylock imping. There'd be no point, as you need to repair and switch tools. Keylocking cases are judged by the GMs, and we wouldn't ban anyone for something as silly as that.
  8. @wkm, it would not matter. You would be repressing the keys after a minute or three. It's just that the server might DC you before you repress.
  9. Keylocking is about weighing down the key with an object. If you hold down the key until you run out of stamina, this is allowed. The server will disconnect you if you hold down te key long enough
  10. Very nicely done, Jberg. I'm sure all those unlocked houses and breeding place for alts will keep all our treasures safe inside the starter deed!!
  11. This was related to the enclosure rule. An enclosure was a fenced off area that had a house inside or connected to the area. No game mechanics prevented you from bashing the fences, but the rules made it punishable to bash fences belonging to an enclosure. You could never bash the house that was connected, the game mechanics wouldn't let you. Eventually the enclosure rule was removed for various reasons, meaning you could no longer have a large fenced-off area that people aren't allowed to bash in to. If you wanted that area, you had to deed it. However, houses remained unaffected, you can still not bash them. This latest exploit manages to go around that game mechanic.
  12. To clarify what this message means: if you find a way to bash an off-deed house wall that you do not own on a PvE server, this is an exploit. Abusing this will result in your account getting banned. Houses are always supposed to be safe and unbashable. "Structures" is another word for "houses" in this context. This exploit is strictly about houses, nothing else.
  13. I think "RIP <name>" has little depth but still respectfully acknowledges the death. I think it's a bit like when it's someone's birthday, you can write "Congratulations" or "I hope you'll have a good 50th birthday, you grandpa!". One is very generic, but it works for many situations. The other is a bit more personal. If it's your dad's birthday, it's not really nice to just say "congratulations" and move on. In the same way, you could write "RIP <name>" to someone you kinda know, but you're going to want to write something a bit more than that if it's someone you really cared about.
  14. "Add ability to give it to spirit templar and/or tower guards." This would be awesome!
  15. Just as an extra note, this is due to an update that remembers when you toggle your button bar (the button bar are the list of buttons with actions that appear in the select bar, such as digging or mining). Before the update, you could toggle it on or off, but it wouldn't remember your choice on a client restart. After this update, it will remember if you toggled it on or off. By default, it's toggled off.
  16. You are currently using 32-bit Java. Assuming you have a 64-bit version of Windows, remove the 32-bit (x86) java from your system and install the 64-bit version. You can get the right version from here
  17. "The Eye of Vynora now will detect through NoLocate spells." Good to see that one in. Eye of Vynora was pretty much entirely useless once all artifacts were found. The others seem quite interesting too
  18. How's the new map?

The map is nice, but there are very little mountains and other natural obstacles. Most people make deeds on or next to mountains which provides natural defenses.
  19. We are a cat kingdom. You don't like cats? You might get along with outcasts like Gary or something
  20. Will reorder it and split the load and save options, so they aren't as close to each other anymore. Alternatively you can also use the keybinds (in the options, "Keybindings" tab, and then the "HUD" tab)
  21. Pffft sell those extra hides you have stashed and come over!
  22. do you live in Amsterdam, Lorena?
  23. I have to agree with that the center area is really small. It would be much better to expand that area significantly, perhaps double or triple the area.
  24. I think that in a perfect world, this would be ideal. However, there is a big difference between big games, such as WoW, and Wurm Online when you look at staff. In Wurm, there are much fewer players, which automatically makes staff very high profile. It's very difficult to hide, especially on PvP servers. For a while, I was just "disguised" as a CM, with a secret GM account. It went well for a while, but it didn't take too long for someone (....posteh) to figure out that Kratos was me. When there are so few players, some people definitely have intentions to figure out who is who. Making disclosing such information a perma-ban offense is incredibly harsh and very hard to justify. It's also likely people will just share the information in different ways, through voice communications for example, making it nearly impossible to get any evidence to make a case.
  25. I'm a Fo priest. I unequipped all my armor to get favor faster. Later that day, there was PvP, so I start heading there. We encounter a group that has similar numbers, so we know it's going to be a tough fight. We shoot down their horses and generally do really well. We start engaging in melee and things become tough. At some point in the battle, I notice my health is at 50% which was a bit surprising. The enemy kills my hell horse and I just jump on my barded backup horse. We were all still doing really well. I figure I might as well start casting Light of Fo to heal myself and others... one second in and I instantly die. I still had no idea what the hell happened. We won that fight regardless and I was talking to someone from the enemy group in PM. He was telling me how he said in TeamSpeak that he had dispelled me, so they should all attack me, which was probably what got me killed (according to him). I was surprised, I asked why would he dispell me? Then I remembered I unequipped my armor earlier that day and never put it back on, while my enemies thought I was just in oakshell. It's a life experience for me, but Gary still makes fun of me for that. I also have the entire battle (including the part where I die) on video.
