  1. I wouldn't mind it, but I would hate to see it pop up everywhere. Such a weeaboo weapon is going to be used by everyone and their dog.

It would be more awesome if it is actualy rare. Or having it cultural linked, only available for a diffrent etnical group.

Wurm does has a little cultural advantages. Actualy, only one. The tower guards. JK tower guards have skill for longswords, MR ones axes, and Hots ones maul.

I wish the game used that perticular aspect a little bit more then it does now.

  2. Nice idea in general. But I doubt it would work proper in a game like wurm. Before you even have a chance to peform an action, an enemy will already be out of range. There is no way you can compensate that due the slow updating of the avatars (if you ever wondered why in wurm avatars shift instead of walking smoothly. That is what I mean).

Anyhow, I prefer the old system over this anytime.

  3. Here's a new problem for you. It just popped up in my mind.

When players cross server type, they won't keep thier items, but they would still be able to acces thier banks. This is a nice gap that players can use to drain the non-pvp's economy. And it only needs a few major towns from wild to do that. All they need is a transfer alt, and the skill/item penalties simply wouldn't matter.

For incase you are not convince that this is a serious threat, there are 2 towns out there who have over 1000 days of upkeep left... on heavies.

Unless you want to completely blockoff acces to banks aswell. Good solution, also less reason to add traveling.

What's wrong with taking your money with you? Nothing as far as I see it. And as far as I know, you can't access banked items on a different server anyways, only your money.

Wild players will create characters to produce items, that they will sell on the non pvp server. That money would be dumped on a transfer alt, which can acces his money on the other server. That way they can effectively "drain" a servers economy. You probably think, "why so much effort", well, some people do anything to get money and I have seen it happening first hand to. (hi espe lololz)

people could also sell stuff on the non pvp server, earn silver, sell silver for Euros and use those Euros to buy silver on the pvp server... So in the end, that can still happen even if the servers aren't connected ;)

Of course it's a bit harder, but on the non-pvp server there's always people who need to buy silver for upkeep of their deeds, and on the other servers there will always be people who want to sell silver for euros. So with just a bit more effort (negligible if you look at the effort needed to make the character) they can do that just fine even if the banks aren't connected.

The currency (silver) and items stay within the same server when players sell them for euro's, happens now aswell. There isn't a problem with it. And as you discribe it, it's benefital for both servers, as they buy more silver of the earned euros.

  6. Makes no sense at all. Too complicated for such a trivial matter as some noob who made a wrong desicion. Traveling between these two servers are unneeded. Both of them have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

It's like placing a 9000 mile long highway in the Sahara, and in the end only 5 cars will use it daily. Would you want Rolf to code something that might take a month, only for a few to use it. No way, you gotta be realistic here.

  7. First off, this would indeed solve the problems. Players will think 3 times before making a decision.

But all these heavy penalties 'n crap, why would anyone want to cross servers anyway. All the motivations have been taken away properly, and motivations are basically the problems the server faces. So what's left, going on a so called holiday too see "xxx town pyramide" and at what cost?

All I see is unnessesary effort and time going lost by something that can be easily solved in the first place. Which is, making completely impossible to travel.

If people somehow find other reasons to travel between non pvp and pvp, why don't they just make another alt?

  8. Wurm used to have "unique" spawns, such like trolls, unicorns and goblins. And it was worth fighting for. Now you can find those 3 about everywhere.

As for resources such as ores and wood types. Veins in wurm, either it be iron or gold, are bloody plentyful. One would be stupid to attack an enemy city in order to "obtain" it (so far obtaining goes, you can't conquer or actualy destroy towns. Only method is to grief the town in question to hell and make them leave or quit the game. This is truth). But the most realistic and simple option would be; scout and explore your area, or expand your mine. You always are bound to find the veins you need.

Trees? Make a sickle and go stroll around about untill you find the type of trees you need, get a few sprouts, and build a treefarm.

These above mentioned motivations arn't valid in wurm even they do exist. Killing and destroying is the only motivation right now. I wish something was done about that.

  9. I hope you realize that people wanting to go to the non pvp server will get 2 resets over them. For some people, that would be the biggest turn off ever. Also, so far I can tell, there is no such thing as unfairness for players on a non pvp server, it's not like they fight each other, perhaps a misplaced feeling for competition. Why should the skills be reset anyway?

  10. I have a slightly off topic question for ROLF:

IF a new pvp-free zone is opened, what would you do with the raids on the current home servers?

-Would the ore cap be removed and the CR penalty to raiders removed as well?

-Would the ore cap be raised and the CR penalty to raiders lowered but still exist?

-Would the setup remain basically as it is now?

I ask because the answer to this question would seriously affect the decisions of many of the players who are undecided about making the move.  I myself could probably deal with the current level of raiding abilities, but if there is a pvp-free server I have to ask myself "why wouldnt raids become more dangerous? all the people who have ZERO interest in pvp have allready left."

    Me quoting this.
