  1. Fixed my post for utmost clarity. Of course I don't think option 2 is preferable, but it is another option. Edit: In response to your edit, No, I do not feel guilty. I have like 40 archery on Freedom Wossoo and just under 31 Body Control, and around 70 on Epic, with 31.8 body control. I barely used the skill.
  2. I prefer not to weigh in on these issues. However, Body control is a pretty important skill, if I understand it correctly. This is quite true in PvP situations. Is it fair, then, that a new player who joins has to work so much harder to get the same level of skill that a long time player has? Bear in mind that these skillgains have been in effect for a very long time. It wasn't a short window of opportunity, but one which has lasted for several years. As far as I see it, there are two obvious ways to fix this problem. 1 - As the thread suggests, revert the changes to skillgain back to what they were, or nearer than they are now. or 2 - Perform an across-the-board percentage nerf to everyone's body control and archery skills to level the playing field. I know which one makes the most sense to me, and it's not option 2. Judging by the percentage Yes vote on this thread so far (96%), I would almost go so far as to say the community almost unanimously agrees with something for a change, hehe.
  3. Maybe that should be the 100 shovel skill title heh
  4. Congrats. [Mole] gets my vote for title!
  5. I kinda looked forward to this game, but then I heard it was as mentioned here full of bugs, and it has less features than Sims 3. It seems to me like they're basically just selling the same game with less overall features at a higher price. I guess it may have more features once they release all 8 million full priced expansion packs. Just sounds like a moneymaking scam, so I have not bought it.
  6. Server crash ?

The problem at the moment is caused by a network issue related to our host. This means that all we can do is wait until their engineers fix the problem with the network. This is not a problem or bug with Wurm Online servers directly or the game itself.
  7. Server crash ?

There are some network related issues at the moment but our trusty Server Admin is investigating the cause and why some people are getting affected and other people aren't so much. All I can suggest at the moment is to get to a safe place in-game to avoid unnecessary deaths and so on.
  8. It would be nice for us GM to know in some way which tickets are the most damaging to a player's gameplay, but I think we have to worry about the potential for abuse of that system as has already been said here a few times. Alyeska's interpretation of the situation is in the direction of how we currently handle new support tickets. Basically, each GM will make a judgement call after looking at currently open/available tickets, and they are not (at least in my experience) always handled on a first come first served basis. To judge the seriousness of tickets, the explanation given with it and any supplementary notes are crucially important to us. There are other factors too, such as how common the issue is and how difficult it is for us to fix. So, for example, if there's an issue which a GM can fix in 2 minutes is on the open ticket list, it is not uncommon for a GM to deal with that issue quickly and easily before dealing with an issue that may be roughly the same severity but may take several hours or days to investigate. Sometimes GM will take advice before taking a ticket, since they may be unsure as to how to deal with it. This is the most probable cause of lengthy waits for a response, though there are others including time zone issues. And to further complicate things, sometimes we deal with multiple tickets at the same time! As for tickets which are on hold, this basically means the ticket was out of the ability of GMs, in which case you require an Arch GM with specialist abilities or for severe bugs, a Developer, and sometimes their own investigations can take some time, or they may be investigating multiple at once. I guess developers make their own judgement calls on ticket severity too, just like GMs.
  9. The reason most GM on Epic are in high positions ingame is due to the typical length of time it takes to become a GM. A player who has been active in the community for years is more likely to both be in a position of ingame influence and also demonstrated themselves as an excellent candidate for GM or any other staff position. It would be nice to get newer players on the team but we have to judge whether people would be effective. This can be difficult if we have little evidence they understand Wurm fully enough, and they display helpfulness and a positive attitude. The problem with the second part is that it would spread GM even more thinly. I can understand why conflict of interest rumours emerge, but really our systems are such that GMs who may have possible conflicts of interest always take advice from the rest of the GM team to mitigate that. I agree though that we need more GMs, from a diverse range of timezones, servers and playing styles.
  10. We'll call it a draw...
  11. I know this is cheating because it's not a drawing, but I see my ingame character Wossoo as a bit like old Ser Barristan Selmy from Game of Thrones. This is how my character looks ingame:
  12. I don't know if it's the O and S getting mixed up in people's minds, but it seems that people are more likely unable to spell my name at first glance than they are to spell it properly. My favourite is Wossosososossos...
  13. http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Player:Wossoo#Histories I've written my Wurm story up to about 2011 there. I haven't started on my Epic server history, but my story covers both PvP and PvE servers.
  14. Rolf is on holiday but the vast majority of Wurm staff are still working in the office.
  15. I used to enjoy logging on my GM account then striking players with lightning and putting orange server event messages like "The Kraken awakens!" I should do that stuff again.
  16. Seara was mistaken about the issue, what Retrograde said is correct.
  17. I thought you were suggesting Igloos, that would have been a big +1, but I also like the idea of ice boxes / primordial fridges to store things like meals. It irks me that something so simple is effectively a paid service at the moment.
  18. As a player I see no reason to merge the four distinct rulesets into one. Freedom PvE is great for people who want to play the safe, economy and crafting game. Freedom PvP / KvK (chaos) is great for those people on Freedom PvE who want to use their hard earned skills, equipment, etc. to fight each other and play with a little more risk, and take part in Kingdom vs. Kingdom territorial war. Epic (Elevation) is great for those who want faster paced, full PvP and KvK territorial war with less emphasis on grinding and spending months crafting. Epic (Home Servers) are great for those who want to play the full PvP game but with much more safety than they would have on Elevation, and no KvK territorial war. I don't see how you can bring those four distinct playing styles into one unified ruleset without completely destroying what makes each of them good. You'd just disappoint everyone. And what would we actually get out of it that we can't already have? There's simply no reason for it. If anyone on Freedom PvE wants a taste of opt-in PvP, then make an Epic portal. Honestly you can get 70fs here on Epic in a day if you buy some equipment and spend the whole day grinding, or you can play the long game and switch back and forth between Epic and Freedom whenever you want, (minus the 1 hour cooldown). Maybe one day you'll want to help your kingdom fight off some enemies on Epic while the next day crafting in peace on Xanadu or wherever. If you really don't want to get your skills up on Epic, it's not that hard to sail to Chaos and join a kingdom and play at war there.
  19. Hold your ground, don't let her pass! Everyone knows I am the true dragonslayer. The launcher confirms this.
  20. It's not. They are all Lomaner themed.
  21. As King of Lomaner I was sadder than anyone to hear that any common rabble could call themselves 'Lomaner', but the Gods would not listen to me when I said using Lomaner was a bad idea. The titles are not an injoke and if they are, I don't find them very funny.
  22. I havent seen that name for a long time Achillies. Bier occasionally plays but I don't know on what account if any at the moment. I think some old LOers like Zerobyte and Thunderstruck are around somewhere. May have spotted Gibbo once too. Not sure how to contact them though.
