  1. This is probably the problem... http://www.hetzner-status.de/en.html#4089 I guess any fixing is in their hands. Other than that, the Wurm servers are fine and there's nothing the Wurm team can do
  2. Destiny

PS3 (cuz im traditional) - Wossoo.
  3. I clarified the post a few seconds before you posted, notably adding "using properly evidenced reasoning" as opposed to the usual we get. Plus the point of any debate is that two sides put forward their arguments. Part of the purpose of such a structured group would be to marshal both sides and present them as pros and cons, or test the reasoning used for validity, to the exclusion of those who don't bother with evidence.
  4. If we're talking about the suggestions committee, I can confirm that it exists and actively refines suggestions so that they are feasible for implementation. However, the developers have a choice whether they are willing to spend their development time and energy on those suggestions once they have been put forward by the suggestions committee. On a partly related note, I have been thinking about helping to establish an independent but structured suggestions group (not affiliated with the Wurm team) but I was unsure what kind of interest there would be in something like that. This suggestions group could work as a unit to put together suggestions using properly evidenced reasoning and "publish" them to the Suggestions forum. It would be different from the main suggestions forum because it would be far more structured. I personally could care less about putting forward my own ideas, but in facilitating others to have a structured debate and conclusions about theirs.
  5. You did a lot of mining in Beta and you were a Wurm GM right?
  6. For once there is a specific reason this wasn't added to patchnotes, but I admit I don't remember what it was. I just remember there was some sort of conversation about it.
  7. Yeah just a note that anyone who uses any macros in Wurm will be found and permanently banned. Probably best not to waste your money.
  8. Backstabbing

Lomaner. I'm the one in front btw.
  9. My account (Wossoo) has been premium since Wurm introduced premium accounts more than 8 years ago. I have never spent any more on this game than the cost of premium on my single account. I have never had premium priest or crafting alts and I never will. I have also never purchased silver coins. Not even once. I have owned 2 deeds on PvP servers, and both of those were funded as joint projects from all citizens. I got my share of the money through occasional sales of items or gifts. Over time I built up enough reserves to pay for my PMK which costed me 120-150 silver. Again I got all that through playing the game and selling property that I had built up over time. I think it is false to assume you need to pay out of the nose to enjoy this game to the fullest. You don't. You just need to co-operate with other players and put a little time in, then you'll find all you need is one account with premium. Some players prefer to buy multiple accounts, and buy loads of coin, and that's fine, but that is not necessary to enjoy the game in full. If anything I would say there are way too many priest alt accounts wrecking the game for anyone who wants to legitimately play as a priest, something I have tried to do on many occasions.
  10. Its not even that fun. Much paperwork.
  11. I think this would be cool if there was some space on the website, or a minisite, to include written submissions or something too. Audiovisual stuff is great, but I think it would be well-complimented with some short "spotlight" articles. Maybe some player interviews too, because it would help to further publicise the myriad of emergent stories that come out of this game. Oh, and, as before, you guys (Office) need to invest in a better microphone! Stormray's is very good.
  12. There aren't many sandy deserts in Nordic countries, so I wouldn't say Wurm is supposed to be one... Other than that, I say there's no real reason not to allow variety in skin colours.
  13. You embark on the adolescent Lamborghini Gallardo as the driver.
  14. Disclaimer: I know this game is early access so it has a long way to come in terms of features and performance, and I am still very happy to have supported the development of this game since 2011 (I wrote some core backstory/lore for it), and through purchasing it on Steam. I bought the game and I can say, while I expected it (as per my earlier post) it's pretty demanding of resources for what it is. Pretty much my experience of the game, and those laptop specs are identical to mine except my Graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce G105M 512MB, so a bit lower than yours, and so my FPS etc was lower too. A real drawback I found to this game, despite video performance, was that to play "singleplayer" you have to host your own server but make it private / 1 person capacity. In most other games this wouldn't be a problem I would even think about, but in LiF it meant that a big black window thing came up (which in and of itself isn't bad) however the server used 2GB of RAM alone! That's madness! The client was a further 1.6GB RAM meaning the total RAM usage for the game, at least for me, was 3.6GB of 4GB which is... higher than any game I have ever seen. I tried multiplayer and it worked for maybe 45 minutes on a virtually empty server, but on any other server I just keep getting constant disconnects. Sadly I wasn't able to play the game for long enough to give much insight into advanced crafting, terraforming, fighting or building. However I found crafting the initial "crude" tools easy enough. Much of the game is clearly inspired by Wurm though, and I think if I was able to play it for longer and at a more enjoyable performance / framerate I would be able, perhaps, to see more of the good parts of it. Overall I can't consider this game enjoyable (at least on my hardware) for some time to come, and if it's not optimised severely, it never will be.
  15. One does not simply quit Wurm. If you do, though, you may become a billionaire. I lived at LO for a long time and I can confirm that I never saw any grinding on alts in G2 and for the brief period I was in LO in G1. However a group there loved to use macros and external / hack tools to get ahead in the game. Most were banned but some have returned. Suffice to say in my view that disqualifies them from being considered best PvPers. Grey area exploits are one thing, but hack tools and macros are several steps further down the bad path. Anyway this is all besides the point.
  16. Occasionally players have such an in-depth knowledge of the game mechanics they can find ways of doing things that, in the end, are found to be unintended and considered exploits. So in that way such in depth knowledge can be a double-edged sword that gets you in serious trouble and can be your downfall.
  17. This question comes up a lot, but I think it would be hard to classify the best "overall" fighter, an how you measure that. If you measure it by the number of player kills that these fighters get, in my long experience observing PvP in this game, I would suggest they rely on any combination of the following (in order of importance). ability to quickly understand a situation and have the flexibility to react to it in a flash.understanding the game mechanics involved in PvP, to have an advantage.bending or creating situations to their advantage (for example, going out roaming, or successful aggressive or defensive tactics in the heat of the moment, communication, and avoiding panic).spending a huge number of hours every day to grind up their game skills to have an advantage.paying for or otherwise acquiring elite equipment to have an advantage.I have met a few dozen who in my view were highly successful in all of these areas. However, I am of the firm belief that there is another layer to "fighting" in Wurm, and that is on a kingdom level. There are many 'unsung heroes' in Wurm PvP who form the foundation of kingdoms and allow the killing players to kill one another. I think these include: Top Level: Long-term strategists (especially on large servers) that mould the environment to provide advantages to fighters on the ground, including monitoring enemy activity, and providing a safe environment for the killers to develop (grind) their in-game skills, and general opportunities for their kingdom to strike enemy kingdoms in raids and skirmishes. They also need to be very convincing player-motivators.Intermediate Level: Infrastructure builders who ensure that long term strategies are possible through the detailed planning and building of individual war deeds, towers, tunnels, roads, etc. and general logistics. They need to be good organisers.Fundamental Level: Crafters who produce the equipment required to fulfil Intermediate and top-level fighting goals, including the basic willingness to do the "boring part" of all these projects like making bricks, breeding horses, making weapons and armour, priest developing, tools, food, etc. Most players who are successful at player killing also have a role in the further layer of PvP, but there are some players who always prefer one side or the other. I have known some players who have exclusively played the game to kill other players, and that is an entirely viable playstyle, but they don't contribute in any meaningful way to overall kingdom progress. On the same token there are many players on PvP servers who massively prefer to contribute to 'the war effort' through planning, building and creating things than directly killing other players. In my view the ideal PvPer therefore has to have an exceptional knowledge of the game, be willing and unafraid to create and take advantages of PvP situations in the moment without panicking, be able to grind their skills up sufficiently, and they should be seriously well equipped. Most of all, though, they must be aware of or a few steps ahead of their situation at all times. However, they must also be willing and capable of being a long-term strategist for their kingdom, a micro-level planner, and with good enough motivation to do the "leg work" behind any kingdom project. Of these last sort, I have met very, very few if any. Off the top of my head, thinking about well known PvPers, many of them meet most of these criteria well but I would make the case, from my own experience, that Playtimesover (PTO, and other names) is probably one of the best fighters to have played. He was relatively calm and very alert in PvP situations, many of which he deliberately created himself through his confidence and good judgement when actively roaming, not just when the odds were stacked in his favour, and he had a particularly fantastic knowledge of PvP game mechanics. He also went through the effort to create not one but several highly successful PvP accounts (a relatively rare trait shared with players like posteh) through building the necessary skills quickly and efficiently through knowledge of existing game mechanics. These were reasons he was a good killer. However, PTO was a good kingdom motivator and administrator, and he was very good when it came to investing time and effort into kingdom projects which would help tip the balance in a Kingdom's favour. You need only look at examples of Coniunctis Viribus, a city he organised and built to try to destroy LO, along with Broodje Bakpaal to counter LO Landbridge. He also seemed instrumental in building a defended road to The Horde after all that was done and LO was gone. These are but a few examples of projects he not only suggested, but pushed and made huge contributions in leg-work over at least 4 or 5 years in the game, for whatever kingdom he played.
  18. Two Billion...

I would be able to go and get my MA and PhD for a start. It would also be nice to travel. I guess you don't need billions to do that though. I'm not really materialistic or money centred, and I think billions simply shouldn't be used on just one person. So, I guess I would offer to pay the debts of the people close to me, and offer to fund family and friends to do what they really enjoy in life, with a view that they may be able to make their own money out of it in the end. In fact, with that kind of money I could probably set up some sort of foundation where people apply for the resources they need, or the funding they need, especially for educational things. As a strong believer in social justice and fairness, I think too many people are held back from their potential because they were born into a low income family or neighbourhood. I think education is one way out of poverty so it would be great to help fund that, especially in underdeveloped countries. In really low income areas, there are likely to be problems with school funding, and aspiration because of that, and then they may not fee able to take the financial risk to take on further study (either vocational or academic). It's also true that people from poorer backgrounds can't afford to do many of the best internships because they are unpaid and in expensive cities like London in the UK. I think it would be great to set up a fund to help support people who want to do that type of thing. Hell, even £500m would be able to pay 28,000 people to do a whole year's internship on as much as £18,000 a year for an expensive city like London, though I think employers should really pay their employees no matter how young or inexperienced they are. It would be possible to help hundreds of thousands of young people from really disadvantaged countries. Then there's the small matter of Wurm. I hope that Wurm succeeds, but I don't believe that it is in need of sustained or major charity. I guess I would like to write Rolf essentially a one-off blank cheque though and make sure he has whatever he needs to feel in the best position to expand his team with qualified individuals who could seize on the potential the game has, including the inclusion of an operations officer and full time employed customer / technical support. I am sure that the Wurm team is more than capable, if small, but there's always more room for learning and for their own professional development, so it would be great to help fund further study and training for them. Any funding would be no strings attached, obviously. Furthering on from that, I think I would end up spending a LOT of money on Kickstarter projects So many other small things too.
  19. And that is certainly not the end of that. The UK will never be the same.
  20. Im not going to go into the politics other than link this. >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUBNu8DbYu8
  21. Maybe one day this will be in Wurm's intro? EA Games: Pay for Everything >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YViI17KBzLI
  22. I think the moral of this story is simple. If you can find a way to leave Wurm you become a billionaire.
  23. I want to try this game, but I don't think my ageing laptop will be good enough...
