  1. +1 to the changes! I like the renewed focus on the original gods, the player gods never seemed as compelling and in some cases were a bit OP.

  5. Getting tired of seeing carts, wagons, and boats left haphazardly around coastal areas, or even on-deed? For Carts/Wagons: create a new item or type of tile that can be placed by a deed owner. Drivers of carts can right-click it, select "Park", and the cart will be moved into that area nice and neat and straight, similar to what happens when you hitch horses to carts. For Boats: Create an item (Dock Cleat maybe?) that deed owners can place on tile edges next to water. Boat drivers can right-click the cleat and select "Moor", and the boat will park next to the shore nice and neat (not up on the dock or crashed into shoreline). Deed owners can have settings that specify whether citizens, alliance members, and non-citizens can moor boats on-deed without using the cleats, essentially making deeded areas possibly private docks (but totally up to the deed owner). You could even get crazy and assign cleats/spots to specific people - reserved parking!
  6. Mulewood and I have been working on the SW diagonal highway from the Vrock area down to the coast around G12-H12. It's currently completed all the way to the coast, I'm just waiting for the coastal deed owner to log on so that we can add the terminus. I also ended up slightly re-routing the highway around the corner of an existing deed, the owner hasn't been on in forever and I didn't want to wait.

  9. I'm looking for a player with high masonry AND carpentry to help me finish this: Yes, it's an 8-story gatetower. I'd like to take it higher, but alas my Masonry and Carpentry won't finish the job. 92+ Masonry and Carpentry should get this to 12 floors. If your skills are higher and we can take it higher, even better! I'll have the mats available and in a BSB for you when you arrive. It likely won't take long, since this is just a 1x1 with ladders inside. The very top walls will be stone parapets. I'm located at Wildeacre on Xanadu at G12. When gnomes first came out, one of my in-game neighbors had just gotten home from work, logged in, and then went AFK for a bit to make dinner. Apparently he left the volume on his speakers up high, plus the song itself was INSANELY loud compared to everything else in-game. He was cooking when all of a sudden he heard explosions and this song blasting from the other room. Flipped him and his dogs out and he came running back in a panic to see what was going on, and ended up burning his dinner. I miss that song.

  12. I also got this error last night after updating to Java 1.4.1. I uninstalled the update, reinstalled 1.3.1, and Wurm works again.

    My husband and I moved over to Sklotopolis from Xanadu a few weeks ago. This is a fantastic server. The mods hit just the right balance of reducing the grind to not be so punishing while still keeping the value of high skills. The community is the best I've ever seen on a Wurm server - a nice mix of Wurm veterans and newbies, and plenty of folks who will help other players and contribute to make the server a great place to (virtually) live. This is Wurm as it should have always been, imo. Kudos and props to Sklo and the team for hosting such a wonderful server! Wurm is fun again! ?

    So sorry to hear about Schwanke - it's so sad when we lose those that we remember fondly, and this right on the heels of losing Oracle. Rest in peace, Schwanke.

    Been checking out several away servers over the past week, and I have to say that my favorite is definitely Sklotopolis! Great map, nice community, love that there are ways to make silver in-game and that its F2P. Still searching for the perfect place to settle but I'm looking forward to making this my WU home.

    A few quick (ha!) things: *cartography: make the world a globe by connecting the servers as others have mentioned. *travel: speed boat travel up. make portals that can be used to get around easier. it'll make exploration better and enable easier trade. *players are too spread out on too many servers. close celebration, pristine, and release, and give those few remaining players still there a motivation/compensation to move to Indy or Xanadu. *but first, fix the lag issue and bugs on Xanadu. *combat: it's terrible and boring. it needs to be better. *add more horse colors. *let us rename animals that we care for. *add more tapestries, furniture, etc. Nice job on the staircases, btw.

    I'm so sad reading this. I only spoke to Oracle a couple of times, but always found him to be kind and honorable. It's always a sad day when you find out that one of our fellow gamers have passed. RIP Oracle, may you ever have a gale at your back.
  25. Plenty of streams that take donations post information in the main areas of the forums. This particular stream (24 hours straight!) will be used to raise money for kids with cancer, as part of the biggest gamers-giving-back initiative in the industry. Tons of game development companies and streamers participate in Extra Life each year and they raise thousands of dollars for children's hospitals. Revnik did this last year as well, he's just looking to get some publicity for Wurm, have a good time, and help some kids in the process. Heck, some players even auction Wurm items for charity. That's allowed. No reason this shouldn't be.
