  1. Windrain (Female Gray Foal) It has fleeter movement than normal. It has a strong body. It has lightning movement. It can carry more than average. It has very strong leg muscles. Mother is Mature fat Belleblood. Father is Mature fat Osiofantasy. Opening bid 150 copper Buyout: 300 copper Auction ends in three days at noon PST OCT31 Pickup only, w/i 3 days of sale unless otherwise arranged at Brash End, 51x 39y eastern shore Crystal Lake (good boat & highway access) [MAP] * Closed, private party buyout.
  2. Something like this, same price, might run the game a little easier. Little weaker cpu but a little better video, though its still lowend integrated video just not Intel graphics: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883103383 Or even better, just get the one from TigerDirect then add yourself something like a cheap secondhand 8600GT from ebay for $15 or so: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Graphics-Video-TV-Cards-/27386/i.html?LH_Price=..19%40c&_nkw=8600+GT&_catref=1&_sop=15&_trksid=p3286.c0.m1538 Its perfectly possible to get a gaming computer under $400 that will run Wurm acceptably well. Sometimes you have to stay away from some of the "mainstream retail" outlets though as they tend to overcharge for gaming class systems.
  3. What if they paid $2500 a month, every month, for an isle a third the size of exodus, but connected to the main game (depending on their settings parameters on whether travel is open or exclusive.) Pretty much just a supersized superdeed with TONS of extra controls & parameters that you can then sublet out to other players for deeds. Owner of the map decides whether it is PvP, whether people are allowed to pen any animals, what the normal spawn settings are, and pretty much GMs are not allowed there except to investigate exploit type issues. The only thing disallowed would be things that might give map residents an advantage over regular players. So no regularly spawning dragons allowing everyone to have drake sets or anything like that, or speedups to skill learning -- nothing like that. I think Second Life real estate showed people will actually sink that type of real life money into a "hobby", if they care enough about that hobby. And I think few games out there have handfuls of players as obsessed about their hobby as Wurm players. Many some people are just ridiculously reeech, who knows.... It certainly would get some extra attention from the gaming industry, and add to the "unique" nature of the game.
  4. Grats darthryan Send me a forum PM whenever you are ready to set up a day & time for picking this lil guy up.
  5. Ya, you can't win I am sure once we get settled in, people will find the new forum is very pleasant, at first though its like finding someone swapped out your favorite comfy reading chair. Take it as a sign people are attached to the forums. For what its worth, I am getting to like the new look more each visit. Sorry if this is something easy to do, I tried poking about in the settings but I get lost easily and I'm sure its in there someplace. Is there a way to turn off the tags? I much prefer it just using the single new posts icon instead, its less intrusive and having TWO different icons alerting us to new content seems a bit much.
  6. I happen to like the light clean look, but maybe a couple options with minor palette variations would be good. One could be a darker "stone gray" (shades from the stove in the logo head above) so it still keeps a Wurmian overtone.
  7. Teardamien - male gray foal It has fleeter movement than normal. It has a strong body. It has lightning movement. It can carry more than average. It has very strong leg muscles. Mother is Mature fat Belleblood. Father is Mature fat Honeydog. Opening bid 150 copper Buyout: 300 copper Auction ends in 72 hours, 2PM PST OCT28 Pickup only, w/i 3 days of sale unless otherwise arranged at Brash End, 51x 39y eastern shore Crystal Lake (good boat & highway access) [MAP] -------------------------- PARENTS are also listed for sale as a breeding pair Set#3 from this thread, for only 80c for the pair, Teardamien is proof they can have some very nice babies!
  8. I think it would be nice to offer choices based on the four religions: Fo (current theme or something light & bright "meadowy"), Vynora (medium woodgrain textures, a bit like the main website page), Magranon (darker gray/stone-rock theme with lighter gray text- basicly the darker theme I think many are requesting) and Libila (some horrific thing with black and blood red text, which I imagine would be highly popular with some) Ranging from a brighter-lighter palette, to more somber desaturated, to finally something very .. dark and brooding Then keep Fo as default but people could take something less "vibrant" if they choose, and still keep everything very Wurm-centric.
  9. 'Grats Jainy! PM me when you want to arrange a time/day for picking her up
  10. Guessing if we just rename files it will just redownload them again the next time we log in? I would love to see an ingame poll (NOT forum only but ALL players) to see: 1) who will use it 2) who will stay with 3rd party chats or 3) who wants NOTHING to do with voicechat of any sort.
  11. I am assuming we can disable all voice options if we don't care to listen to other players' voices? (right now I have just been disallowing firewall on it which I assume has the same effect, but a setting to mute all voices would be nice also)
  12. Are you avoiding inbreeding on those? Shared bloodlines can dramatically increase the odds of bad traits. Though with that high AH, you likely know that unless maybe you missed some of the forum posts over the summer. from wiki: http://wurmonline.com/wiki/index.php?title=Animal_husbandry#Inbreeding Inbreeding With a recent change inbreeding is supposed to have a negative effect. It adds extra negative traits that don't count against the regular traits pool. Inbreeding is mating with the father or mother or when the two animals have the same father or mother. Basically if you only can find two horses you'll be ok in three generations. But it might be better to mate with your neighbours horses. See Rolfs forum post for details.
  13. Sent my maul (with my name on it): [11:24:44] A huge spiked heavy clump of metal on a shaft. You'll need both hands free to wield this one. You need to temper the large maul by dipping it in water while it's hot. [11:24:44] You can barely make out the signature of its maker, '.at..g'. [11:24:44] Circle of Cunning has been cast on it, so it will increase skill gained with it when used. [51] [11:28:27] You have been charged 10 copper. [11:28:27] The items silently disappear from the spirit house. You expect them to arrive in less than an hour. Thanks!!!
  14. to use in place of polishing pelts, for newbies or starting from ground zero. Cannot be repaired and is capped at 10 Q, basically in the crude tools category of usefulness. Only needs sand + woodscraps, but may take a number of tries to successfully make it, and its only a temporary solution as it wears out very fast. Maybe call it a scraping stick for those troubled by it not really using paper. Or, just allow them to use sand directly but it uses up X amount of sand per use so is a hassle to do this very often. Just enough to help the newbie trying to make a mallet or cart from 0 skill, and who has no fighting gear to go hunt rats cats or dogs (or can't find those). Yes, they could beg for a pelt from advanced players but lets pretend this is also useful on EPIC or for the solo survivor type. That plus a bowdrill (as a crude replacement for flint and steel -- for when they are advanced past the smelting in a campfire stage but don't have access to a vendor or steel+flint)
  15. I have three female champ dogs for sale, 1s each: an adolescent, an aged and a venerable. Pickup at Brash End, 51x 39y eastern shore Crystal Lake (good boat & highway access) [MAP]
  16. Bloodhalt (young white female foal) It has fleeter movement than normal. It has a strong body. It has lightning movement. It can carry more than average. It has very strong leg muscles. Mother is Adolescent fat Starkhunting. Father is Mature fat Osiofantasy. Opening bid 150 copper Buyout: 300 copper Auction ends in 72 hours, 2AM PST OCT25 Pickup only, w/i 3 days of sale unless otherwise arranged at Brash End, 51x 39y eastern shore Crystal Lake (good boat & highway access) [MAP]
  17. Actually, I just love the little black foals, so purty, so think I might go ahead and add the others -- Goldhoney, Runkiss, Nanookraid, Runecker, so 130 copper I think for all 9 black foals but we'll round up to 160 copper to take care of the three short delivery runs . I assume 9 also counts as a bulkbuy ? And I'll put you on one of the building or minedoor permissions so after the first run + payment, you can just drop the others off at your own leisurely convenience. I'm surprised that even with the flaws, some of these are not going fast at only 10-20c each.
  18. I don't think it matters, I generally add the floors last. If at all. I have some "houses" that still have packed dirt. I tend to use cobblestone or slabbed floors as wooden floorboards are a bit of a pita. I had to cover about 400 tiles of marsh in floorboards and that was enough floorboarding for me for a while. Now I just pave with a slab and decide it looks just fine.
  19. Great post I think I have only had to call GMs twice in all the time I've been playing, and they have always been amazingly helpful and courteous. Thanks for reminding us of the positives!
  20. I like those. Maybe also: Yaks, maybe special only to steppes & tundra: rideable & able to pull carts, of course Yaks & Goats are also both a source of milking & CHEESE, as well as yarn-making down the road.
  21. I agree with Alyeska; I struggle making a single jar of 50Q lye. Its about the best I can ever make and takes me an unbelieveable amount of effort just to make that. It HAS to last me a long time. I don't like grinding and prefer skills raising through natural use. I know Wurm feels like a "grindy" game to some who feel they "need" to level skills fast, but for me, I have always wanted to just play the game as naturally as possible and let skills raise slowly in time because I use them a lot. To me, thats the way it SHOULD be. If it takes me months or even years to get high skill levels in many things -- thats fine. The things I actually DO use, are the ones that will go up on their own. As a result, I only have 40 in woodcutting, 30 in natural substances, 25 in firemaking. But I have 57 or so skill in leathermaking, and now suddenly that will be useless as I have to grind all these other unrelated skills, because I can't make the leather I need without grinding grindng grinding on skills that are meanngless to me. I *LOVE* Wurm and I have about 3000+ hours into the game already. I like the slow pace and the fact things do take effort to achieve. 95% of the time, I think skill leveling pace is just PERFECT. I enjoy the fact that really, if I am patient, I can raise the skills I use through everyday use and NOT from sitting down and grinding another 3000+ hours just to be "good at everything". There's a lot of little things in the game that make no sense. Being able to put a fleet of unfinished sailboats into a pottery bowl always struck me as odd. But the amount of lye needed to turn a hide into leather is fine as it is, and in any case it is way way waaaaaay down the priority list of things in Wurm that "need" fixing. Lye is fine the way it is now.
  22. Here I thought Wurm "invented" bearsharks, silly me. But no, Google is stuffed with references... According to the Urban Dictionary, bearsharks date back to August 15, 1807. I find that improbable. Also questionable was this site's dating of it to a reddit post in 2009 since I found many sites predating that, including one person drawing them back in the 1980s. Turns out Americans are much more interested in bearsharks than any other country (maybe that conservative site is right) Anyway these days, they are very popular: What may be the first documented bearshark? Some weird conservative site warns that Bearsharks want to destrory your Liberty! Please no GM events featuring Zombie Bearsharks Who wants a dumb bearshark teeshirt when you can get a bearshark tattoo?
  23. I always thought and heard what Bachus replied. You sound very convincing though, so do you know if quality matters like with horse shoes? My understanding is the same as Alyeska, and that all horse gear has to be 50Q to start giving a bonus.
