  1. ya too many pointy parts, I was having a bit of a Wuthering Heights moment. Maybe I'll live in it a bit then remodel we need some more bed options now too
  2. That looks really nice! Very clean and artistic design. Mine is just wood and a little "messier" overall, not quite done but getting close: http://wurm.brashendeavors.net/house/ Looking forward to more exterior pics, also hoping to get some ideas for INTERIOR DECORATING, I have so many floors to fill up now lol....
  3. My first thought -- oh yea, would be fun to use this as some sort of promotion where you can "adopt" a new player (or some sort of "invite-a-friend" promotion) and both parties somehow benefit from the arrangement. Reminds me of Asheron's Call system of vassal patronage. Though of course you'd also need to figure a way that'd not be exploited. My second thought - hey what if ALL F2P players started like this and "grew up" if they premmed Which I am not saying is anything they should do, I just had a happy smile thinking of the starter spawns filled with 100s of these little munchkins.... who by the way looks nothing like I imagine as the outcome of a hot date between a HOTS and a ZOMBIE Looks more like a Freedomer Meets CareBear since it resembles the old freedomer outfits. (appraently the old model packs have six versions, male & female version x each of Jenn, Freedom & HOTS. Hmm did Freedom predate Mol-Rehan ?
  4. Applewood ships are my favorite and 16s for a Knarr is already the cheapest I have ever seen.
  5. Yea maybe even add in a bit of "wildebeast devil striping" to further differentuate from the brown horse:
  6. Nice Saraski! Do these have any visual differences, or tested speed differences?
  7. I wish all my 37 lead veins had turned to slate and marble =/
  8. Things like this can make such a huge difference to new players trying to figure out the game. Bravo!
  9. He is probably on Pristine with 0 fight skill and no armor/weapons (I think starter shortswords are only 5Q now?) and desperately trying to get a house built. You can always drop back to one guard once you feel more capable, and after the server wildlife has settled down a bit. If you look at the timestamps from Fordring's screenshot, you can see why one templar really is not enough.
  10. Rolf has never ever ever said anything like that. That is 100% idle speculation & gossip by me, so don't get too alarmed. Yet. Actually that is the screenshot I was looking for, a young HOTS boy next to an adult male player. It was after MrBloodworth left and posted by one of the currect active devs but I forget which one.
  11. Hmm has anyone documented yet the appearance variations based on Kingdoms? I think those are already ingame though maybe subtle. Probably easiest contrast to check would be HOTS vs Freedom characters, since thats probably the widest gap in kindom "styles"? Rolf: "As is the tradition of Wurm we overdo it, so whenif we make it so that you can have kids this bloodline may go to them depending on who you mate with." already in graphics jar according to some past posts (sincor/axeblade):
  12. Hmm one of the devs had a screenie with a child in it sometime earlier this year ... (goes off to rummage around in her new attic...)
  13. Hmm, this reminds me a bit of some systems where you have families as a means to pass on your holdings + estates, to take the sting out of character death by allowing you to pass on your assets (plus sometimes a set % of trained skills) in order to introduce a system of Aging & Dying. Same Q&A brought up Temperatures & Diseases which usually means frostbite & potenital freezing death/illnesses. So Healthcare may in fact be another issue Wurmians deal with in the future. Methinks Riolf's VISIONâ„¢ may end up being something I am more than ever eager to have a looksee at...
  14. Just needs a better shade of red plus some color variation with mane/tail so it doesn't look like it fell into a vat of Lolita's 'Hell Hath No Fury #42' Nail Polish: And make sure whatever is chosen doesn't end up looking too much like a 1970s Hot Wheels Camro with a flame job either. Something otherworldly but not plasticy. I am sure a little simple tweaking with colors will work out fine in the end, whether its all black with flame hooves, or just a better red. The current one just doesn't quite work.
  15. That is so cool \o/ is there any weay to zoom at all?
  16. Been playing with the morrows a lot Some female characters:
  17. Ah. Here is one thing I have noticed that sometimes separates old and new players in the "there is no land left!" quandary. I've helped new players sometimes on Indy server and sometimes they complain they checked an entire coastline that I pointed them to and "there wasn't a single bit of land." But see I knew there was land in that specific part they were checking so I kept asking. Well yea there was land but it wasn't FLAT land --- all the FLAT land was taken. One thing to keep in mind, is that there is actually very little FLAT land, or even semi-flat. As a total percentage of the server., "flat" land is actually somewhat rare. It's also much more likely to occur inland, and not in coastal areas. Most of the coastline on indy at least, was severely hilly and uneven. But people who really wanted coastline terraformed it anyway, sometimes spending an entire week or more just to shape the land before even building their first shack. Then a newer player later sails by, complains they took all the flat land, and completely ignores the hilly open spot next to them. In most cases the flat land was not taken -- the flat land was made. Whats odd is that sometimes the new players I talked to who were most resistant to needing to do extensive terraforming, were ones that I knew were not "lazy" or "entitled" or "spoiled" -- they were often the most hard working and committed to the Wurm gamestyle. I can only maybe guess, that major terraforming projects somewhat intimidate some new players because they have really never done anything like it before. The one thing I will tell you though -- there is nothing else in Wurm that will bond you heart and soul to your land, as having it be land that you personally tamed yourself from the wild and reshaped meter by meter yourself. To turn a wild and hilly area into a terraformed set of terraced farmland and bustling village, will give you a much stronger personal connection to the land simply BECAUSE it was not all preshaped in advance. In fact, sometimes I even suspect there is a strong correlation between how long peope actually STAY on a deed, and how much effort and work it took them to originally make it including the initial terraforming.
  18. Sounds similar to how it used to be here. Well, seeing stats and progressing the breedline was always part of the animal husbandry skill tree, but Animal Taming allowed you to domesticate a wild creature such as a wolf or mountain lion or crocodile and take it out hunting etc. You could tell it to attack other creatures and some of them you could also ride. I remember when I first started, how attached I was to my pet brown bear that escorted me everywhere as I went out to cut trees or down into the mines to chop iron (it even pulled the cart for me coming out again. I used to go fishing with it, and feed it a fish from time to time. I was very very fond of my good buddy Mr. Bear. It got nerfed. Severely nerfed,. It's still there, but pretty much useless now. I don't even bother to tame animals anymore unless I am breeding champion deer or champion dogs, and then I ignore them once the breeding part is done. There is no "companion" aspect to any of it any more. Maybe its time for Rolf to rethink the system again.
  19. I had the same confusion at first. Try this -- Take a mallet and "plan" a floor first below the roof area. You DON'T need to remove the old floor and you DON'T need to make a new floor -- it just needs a "plan" for now. Now try again and it should allow you to plan and build the roof. Remove the temporary floor plan and go back to using your original floor.plus your new roof. Apparently somehow the roof plan needs to "recognize" a floor plan and does not recognize the current floors as such, but you don't have to actually replace them, just temporarily "plan" a floor so the roof knows where to go. This will only be affecting the current "legacy" houses that need new roofs over old floors; once those are all roofed and people are building new houses with the new floors and new roofs, it will no longer be confusing. So think of it as just a short time phase to get through the next few days.
  20. I think there is a larger-than-normal amount of veteran players who do NOT intend to have properties of any sort on the new server. A few are going over to help jumpstart "new player villages" etc but most seem to intend to go back home afterwards. The main reason for this, is 1) They cannot bring over high skilled players to quickly build an entire village, and they are not really pysched to relevel again 2) they cannot bring boats stuffed with building supplies to use (especially stuff they have packed away in BSBs and nothing to use it on) 3) they cannot "easily" use their silver coin holdings to pay for theior new deeds. It's possible to sift these silver coins through an epic alt -- but since the skills and materials are still not easy to acquire, most seem to be happy to leave the new server to the newer players. Also I think many of them are looking at some MAJOR renovations on their howme deeds and while starting a new settlement is usually pretty exciting, right now I think many are overwhelmed with stuff to do on their original estates, with reroofing and adding new floors etc. Someplace around is a poll asking "legacy" players how many intended to go to the new server, either for a shortterm or longterm holdings, and the number was very low for veteran players who intended to start any settlement there. Much lower than we saw happen with the earlier PvE added servers. I think Rolf did this one right.
  21. * Wants snow for christams ... +1
  22. Oh wow I finally have a use for my affinity in Paving????
  23. Ok after playing a bit with the silver mirror -- I am happy overall with the female models (males will have to speak for themselves) but I think "down the road" (doesn;t have to be soon) there are a few COSMETIC things I might be willing to pay extra for as a moneysink vanity option. Keep silver mirror as a player crafted item (I hope) and those are the basic choices for all players. Then have a "diamond mirror" that is EITHER 1) trader moneysink item, OR 2) a "premium player only perk" (dev choice -- or maybe ONE EVERY CHRISTMAS for premium players) that includes: * Some extra new hairstyles, I would love to see for females a short 'perky' ponytail, a side braid, and a cornrow-and/or-mohawk for example: * two toned hair (just an extra slider/scroll for "color1" & "color 2"), my pref is they all stay with the current natural colorations but mix them up a bit more so you can have a slightly unique overall shade: * options for accessories such as piercings, facial tattoos, eye patch None of these things are "important content" but I think enjoying your character and making it even more personalized from the pack, is something most people would enjoy and even pay a little extra for. So maybe sometime if the art team is idle while the programming people are working on higher priority gameplay elements (I was so happy to have Rolf mention "temperature" as being an element in future gameplay...)
  24. ok will try that thanks I was mentally steeling myself to "just deal with it" and redo them all again but great news if that won't be required...
