  1. I was joking about the sparklies!! I like more the idea of subtly desaturizing the unripe, and subtly oversaturizing the ripe crops. So that the color density cues us as well. Emphasis on Subtle. Actually, I am personally pleased with exactly how they are right now with the new graphics, but I do agree newer farmers should get a tiny bit cue more if they cannot rely on either mouseover or Examine to confirm.
  2. I might be mistaken but I think it was them experimenting with possible options and then giggling "I wonder what the forum would say .. ha!" type of thing... /hopesitsalittledevhumor
  3. Oh hey while we are all here .... Andreas ? @Zcul Close #wurmonline “Implement Seasons†will be live next client update aswell, it will bring 58 votes back from uservoice: http://wurmonline.uservoice.com/forums/12046-wurmonline/suggestions/116163-implement-seasons?utm_campaign Is this still in the next live update? Even if it is cosmetic only at this stage (snowy ground, autumn leaves, spring textures etc) can we get any info, like how long will each season stage last about?
  4. Fantastic Rainbow Colossus, I can see it now.... (so can everyone else in a 750 tile radius)
  5. Zcul, you are a HERO for realizing we just love the game and that's why we get so passionate about it. Thank you for the update and for being more ... well, I have to say mature .. than we can sometimes be It's only because we love Wurm, that we care so much about every detail. I look forward to seeing some of the upcoming tweaks to it. Something that matches the rest of the GUI art style would be wonderful.
  6. Ya, that was me on Neome =/ I logged into my baby farmer and she gets no text message on examine, it still says only that it needs the touch of a rake, or is growing steadily, even when its ready. Sorry about that mistake.
  7. Yes, if you examine they will say: [03:48:04] You see a farmer's field, which would render about 6 bales of wemp. The field is at full height and ready to harvest! It could use a touch from the rake or some other farming tool. << this was wrong You'll be surprised how fast you'll be able to tell at a glance with the new graphics after some time. They are different from before, and a bit more subtle, but you'll soon "see" the ripe ones easy enough. I suppose we could ask the devs to add "sparklies" like they'd get in some other MMO to show us when they are ready but I think after 2-3 weeks, everyone will settle into the new look. After a while, you may even take a seasoned farmer's pride in being able to spot the ripe ones from far away without any big arrow signs over them.
  8. Ooooh! It's Rare! It's Supreme! It's ... Fantastic! I can't wait to see someone in a Supreme Suit of Silver Chainmail
  9. I have deeds on both Indy & Deli. The SE steppe on Deli (largest steppe) is currently densely full of scorpions, crocodiles and goblins. Saw a champ scorp and a champ croc within sight of each other. On Indy, my area has had an infestation of Slow Trolls. So some spots have lots of aggros, and it seemed pretty dense there. I guess that is the regional spawning thing. Lucky me, all in my regions Maybe other regions are sparse and full of deer, dogs & unicorns. I don't know whats going on with the actual total numbers. I would wonder if its certain its combining the mine aggros along with the surface aggros, since it seems there are also vast numbers trapped in old abandoned & collapsed mines.
  10. It's not that it doesn't look very nice on its own. However the main issue is a major art style discrepancy with the main "rustic" GUI. Suddenly we have a cocktail lounge jukebox in the middle of our cow pastures and stone fortifications. If the style could be tweaked to match better the rest of the interface, it would work a lot better.
  11. It does look a little odd because of the style mismatch with the nice "rustic leather" look of the main menus -- kinda like a flamingo bar with neon lights plopped in the middle of rustic ol' Pinesville I'd love it more if it blended better with the main GUI art style (rustic & nature colors).
  12. If this is a Freedom PvE server, the rules (and I think also the code) won't allow you to catapult down a neighbor's house just so you can expand over it. If it is Epic PvP server, I am not familiar with the rules there.
  13. Good, I will look forward to wooden towers soon then I like building in wood also
  14. Also, if a portcullis-type entrance could be designed like a Mine door, as far as adding passage permissions for specific individuals (at which point you maybe could just skip the gatehouse altogether).
  15. I am guessing this is not a true "multistory building" (stairs wouldn't really fit) but instead one of the "building blocks" mentioned for making unique looks. IE, its really pretty much like adding a colosseus to your deed -- just cosmetic. People can start making the "castles" they wanted (or at least a closer resemblance to a castle). If you could add drawbridges or portcullis as an entranceway, it would feel more like a real dynamic village rather than a bunch of square houses huddled behind square tall stone walls in a square tile based game.
  16. I might back a 5s wand that removes any and all affinities (thus letting the player have a shot at some other skill selected randomly) Otherwise, the price seems just way way too cheap, especially if people can constantly change them. Look at the prices of items such as Sleep Powder -- why would anyone pay 5s for one hour sleep bonus when for the same price, they get a permanent passive buff? 5s to remove, or 50s to select a specific one, is far more in line with current prasctices. Otherwise this really does to me seem to open the door to buying overpowered advantages thru the Store. It would be a great suggestion in some other game, but I don;t think it really suits the nature of Wurm, as currently suggested. This brings up another point. If some affinities are broken, or if ALL are, then Rolf really opens the door to issues if people pay real life money for a buff they don;t think they are really receiving. It may be some work well and others don't -- under the current system its not a huge deal but if someone paid real life cash for a buff they did not receive, Rolf becomes liable under a lot of trade laws. Personally, I think he might just end up deciding to remove affinities all together as the easier solution.
  17. Wow, nice work, and I am sure the entire community will benefit greatly!!
  18. You might suggest to your friend that, while you are still struggling with building your skills, it might be more practical for you to take 2-4 weeks and move into HIS deed as a villager under his supervision, helping him with some projects on HIS land while you get your skills better. One project might even be, mining an underground road-tunnel to an easier access point below (some route which would benefit both deeds). Your deed can meantime wait for you to get a little more advanced, and perhaps by then, he'll be more able & willing to spend a week at YOUR deed in return, helping get you better started. Another option is to advertise under the village recruitment thread for someone a little more experienced who might want to come up and help you with your deed. Sometimes returning players who have been gone for a while, have good skills but need some time to ease back into the game, and helping a new player set up a starter village might actually be exactly what they are looking for, especially if there were no longterm commitments past the first few weeks. You might even post in Aelfred's thread asking if he would have any interest in helping you get your new deed jumpstarted, as sometimes he enjoys those kinds of projects
  19. Quality levels 50/70/90 is where the speed bonuses come in for shoes & saddles, they are not major but can become hefty cumulative with each other + WOA casts on each piece. So a 50Q saddle alone may not be very noticeable. Wiki has more details on this. A wild horse goes about 17 kh at max bursts, a 5-speed trait horse can hit 28kh (it will just be occasional spurts, thats seems to be the top), and with full WOA'd shoes and saddle I think somewhere in the range of 35-38.
