  1. Hello friends, I spent some great time on Pristine and I had the chance to meet some amazing people, but, after a lot of thinking, I decided to move on the main cluster and join some friend there, so I'm selling the deeds and characters I have here. I mention that any deed / character can also be sold separately. Deeds: Position on map: First deed (Real name: Neosophy Heights, Map name: Kiddo's Retreat): Size: 3.355 tiles (61x55) Cost to place deed: 69 silvers Funds in mantainance: 22+ silvers Has QL 50+ guard tower Mines: a few exposed silver veins (really silver is in abundance), exposed iron vein, prospected gold, copper, lead, marble Trees: 4 oaks, three willows, quite a lot of cedars, a total of hundreds of trees Animals: cow, bull, bison, horse Lots of resources: like 20 BSBs and 8 FSBs on deed (not all full of course, but still) Absolute possibility to place a trader. Second deed (Real name: Lost Shores, Map name: Kiddo's Harbor): Size: 1.035 tiles (45x23) Cost to place deed: 23 silvers Funds in mantainance: 2+ silvers Two nice buildings. View from the first deed (example): More pictures from the first deed from when I bought it: http://forum.wurmonl...ace-for-trader/ Worthy of note: Prime location, close of Blossom (starting town), with ocean waterfront through the second location (port). The two deeds are connected via a highway, so sea access is granted for the second deed too. There is also a cave tunnel going from near the second deed to the first deed (tunnel is NOT starting on second deed, but access is no problem). Access can be given on dummy account (villager) to see them in person. Character #1: Premium time: more than one month remaining Path of knowledge level 4. Rolf answered (kinda) in the new thread: http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/79643-regarding-the-price-raise-discussion/
  4. Rolf, I'm sure we all understood the necessity of increasing the price with around 25% to cover the change in legislation regarding VAT, and this must be done as soon as May 2nd when the new legislation kicks in. No questions here. However going higher than that (60% on everything), all of a sudden (I know you say this not over night, but after seven years, but for us, newer players, for which the low price was a factor for choosing WURM, it is over night) it's a bit extreme and there may be more looses then you may estimated (people quitting the game all together, people lowering the number of characters / deeds / deed size / etc) and in the end bring lower income than you expect (if not negative results). But for the rest of the increase you don't have to take a decision before May 2nd. So just don't do it. Take some more time to ponder the possibilities, analyze our ideas (maybe most are trash, but maybe some are good) and take a well analyzed decision and not a rushed one. So what I would suggest: - increase price from 10 to 12.5 euros to both premium membership (2 months) and silver coins (10) starting with May 2nd. This should be more than enough to cover the VAT and don't give you troubles on short term and it also makes a round number (for 4 months / 20 silver it would be a round 25 euros) (extra suggestion here: allow an option to transfer premium time between accounts on same email address - same person) - this will not make it unfair to people who bought now to get the old price, since they would still save 25% - analyze your options for the difference to cover the exchange rate, inflation and increase your profit margin; if after two months you'll still feel that the solution is to increase the price to the values you suggest now then do it at that time - at least we would know that you did analyzed all our suggestions and took an informed decision, not a rushed one Personally, I still think the best option would be to have: - silver price of 12.5 euros - normal premium package of 12.5 euros per two months, but add some limits to it like not being able to use sleep bonus or set a deed or have a trader / merchant (that would pretty much be perfect for the casual player - villager type) - add a VIP premium package of 25 euros per two months, with all incentives from today and even some extra perks (like the ability to plant not one, but more deeds from a single account) (hich most players looking for serious business would buy) - add a gift option in shop to be able to gift premium / coins to a friend - add some cosmetic things to trader without any practical in-game advantage like "gnomes" (which seem to be the newest fashion item on my server) or glowing dye which could allow anyone to dye their items like they're rare But these are just my suggestions, sure there are better. But the important part is: raise the price now with what you really have to (20-25%) and take the time to analyze the options for the rest of income source during the next couple of months. P.S.: As an ultimate idea, if anything we'll say won't make you change your mind - at least make it a 50% increase, not a 60%. It's not only that the 10% percent will make it a bit easier for us to swallow it, but it would also make it somehow easier to calculate / express. It would be 15 euros for two months or 10 silvers (round number); it would be 1.5 euros per silver (again round number). And, as proven on the other thread, a 50% price increase would be more than enough to cover VAT taxes, euro exchange rate differences, inflation (all raising to like 35%-40% at most), and also leave you some extra money (10%-15%) for investments / development or that trip in Hawaii. Cheers, Alex

Ayes, Thank you a lot for your very nice words, but the truth is I'm not smart (and IQ tests don't lie ). But all I said doesn't require neither high intelligence or a university degree... they are common sense things, which anyone with a (lower than) average intelligence can see.

Being able to buy your way up with real money isn't pay-to-win? We must have a totally different perspective over things here. Based on this a "magic stone" increasing your skill gains with 10.000%, not with 200% as the sleep powder does no (at the end of the day It's the same thing, just a different order of magnitude) would not pay-to-win either, because the other people can just level by themselves. Riiiight, isn't it? Yeah, I know I exaggerated, but really, the game IS pay-to-win as it is right now. Honestly I don't care about this, since I only play for my fun - I'm in no competition with anyone and I don't want to win the game or join the who's who list in WURM. But just don't come and say that you can't introduce COSMETIC items (dunno like fluorescent dyes) because that will make the game pay-to-win, when you already have items that actually give advantages to the core-game (skills, resources, etc).

When it comes about financial issues, we're no longer mere players, but PAYING CUSTOMERS. And as paying customers I think we deserve a bit more curtousy when he's trying to convince us to pay 60% extra for the same product. ... just my 2 cents ...

It would be nice if after 500 replies (mostly negative towards the change, but with lots of constructive criticism too), Rolf will come and say that at least he reads all we wrote and he's considering our ideas... otherwise it looks like we're screaming at a closed door...

Oh... really? Let me see... - Skills: 200% faster skill gain with sleep powder and no skill loose on death with resurection scroll - Resources: utmost quality ore veins of any type with the rod - Money: personal traders - Full protection of items: magic chests That directly from you, so these are money going directly to you. Then, with silver bought with real money (something most games prohibit) you can buy anything you need in game - work-force, gear, weapons tools, mounts, deeds and even characters (again something totally prohibited in most other games). How is this not pay-to-ein? Yeah, people can earn silvers in game from other players, and buy her own things. But, that doesn't make it not pay-to-win, since one can just buy all I mentioned here with daddy's credit card. There are games totally not pay-to-win, like Xsyon or even the infamous WoW. But WURM is not one of them. And any cosmetic items you'll intoduce will be less pay-to-win then what you already added. Cheers!

Yes, you actually don't have to. But you tried to did it and the numbers just not match. It would have been more fair to say - 30% is for VAT, euro rate and inflation, 15% is for future investment in the game and that means that we'll hire one sound artist to remake the music (and give an ETA for this) and 15% is for our own profit. At least if you try to explain it, do it properly. Because the explanations you voluntarily came up with just don't seem (totally) correct. You even said: "We should also consider inflation when we look at how prices have changed. 5 Euro worth in 2006 when the prices were drawn up is now 6 Euro in 2013, so since 2006 prem and silver has gradually gotten cheaper in real terms despite the price not changing. If you factor in the new VAT requirement onto 6 Euro (original intended value price of Wurm in 2013 euros) you find yourself pretty much at 8 Euros." This affirmation of yours which aims to explain the whole increase from 5 to 8 euros, implies that these are the only reasons. Yet, when we tried to make the math by ourselves starting from 5 euros, calculating inflation by official numbers and adding VAT it lead to something like 30%, not 60%. Really... sometimes is better to just not explain instead of lie blatantly or offer half truths at best... personally I would have easier accepted an increase of price explained honestly, then an attempt to blame the VAT, exchange rate and, later, inflation for all of this. And with this I'm really done - I already wasted too much of my time with this topic. It's not like you're looking to listen to suggestions. P.S.: And really that "we don't have to" coming from the PR Manager (not an assistant or something) looks totally unprofessional and impolitely to me; it's one of the things I learned in my first year at university to never do. Not that I'll hold it against you, but it's just not good business practice at all.

I start playing 18 days ago. One of the things that made me take this decision was the price. For me it is literally a 60% increase over night and which effectively make me feel I wasted not invested my money in this game since I now can no longer afford to maintain what I bought.

I'm pretty sure that PROFIT equals REVENUES minus EXPENSES. Office, servers, staff and other expenses are most certainly covered by expenses. So profit it what remains after those expenses are paid. Am I missing anything? And yes, Rolf has to make a profit. That's clear. And if that requires to increase prices, let it be. But not like that - not 60% at everything all in a sudden while traders draining is still allowed so some people have lots of chars and huge deeds without paying a single cent, while the rest of us have to pay a lot extra.

You said you don't want, but you had to and you ask us to believe you. You even bring some arguments - like inflation, euro course and VAT. All these lead to like 30%, maximum 40% increase, not 60%. What about the other 30%? And I still wait my answer to naming a single product which price was increased with 60% in a single day.

Wossoo, Please tell me a single product that had a 60% price increase rate over night. A single one. Inflation happens, true, but you don't really feel it - because it happens really gradually. Why not try to do something like "we intend to reach the price of 8 euros; we will gradually increase it with 1 euro every 4 months from now on till we reach our targeted value"? The first euro (20%) will solve the stringent problem (VAT). The second euro (20%) will solve the inflation. And the third euro (20%) could go to development or whatever you plan for it. This will be easier to accept than a sudden increase of 60% over night.

If you decide you like it just let me know - I have like 3 or 4 accounts from when me and friends played it - they are not subbed, but have the initial price paid. You can have one for free.
