  2. I don't understand the PvP implications of this, admittedly. Also I don't think I agree with "your fault" thing because of the wide range of situations people fall into these in PvE. However ... if you get up and stumble around in the middle of the night, and stub your toe, it is your fault. Personally, if I could write a bit of code that could save all of those toes from being stubbed, I would do it. Fault or not, I think this is a trap and there should be a way to get out if you can get in. edit - a t

  4. Maybe I should change the name of the post =) Anything would be fine! Anything that meant that if you can get in, you can get out again!
  5. I know, I know. It's a popular way to block access to resources you found off deed. Stick a shack up or a fence gate. The responsible people put a fence around the entire thing so that people can't fall in, but a lot don't. And the fences usually decay before the shack anyways. Vet players see this, and either avoid or prospect around to see if there is anything worth making another entrance for. New players have no idea and fall in, and can't get out again. On Celebration, when this would happen (and it happened often), locals would make a trip with mauls, shovels, and picks. I've made pretty long trips over the server myself to rescue players. On Xanadu .... Eek. A new player knowing where he/she is at to ask for player help is proving tough enough. And a long trip across the server for the people who would otherwise help? GMs, afaik, won't get them out of this situation, unless maybe it's on a deed and mining out becomes impossible ... not sure on that one. They can suicide out, sure, but leaving all of their stuff and possibly money behind and irretrievable. Trapping people like this, and telling them to spend the next 5 hours mining (give or take 20 more) sucks. edit - changed post title from "making cave borders impossible to build on" ... It was just a first thought (when once again, a group of new players fell into a mine) as I think any change that would resolve the situation would be great!

    No, we made the highway precisely to prevent others doing this: cutting off access between the coast and inland with fences. The highway goes straight through my deed E/W and past Val's and is open to everyone =) To the north and south there are mountains, Val just means things like terraced animals pens up those sides (there isn't a lot of flat here). And I think Delone and Blacklotus already talked and have a plan ... both are very cool cats. edit - er wait, I think I mean yes heh

    Hey Teksan! I too was confused by the lamps but I think I've figured them out, and it isn't a road plan =) I try to take a run around those lowlands between our deeds once a day looking for wild horses, and some of those distant "hills" are deceiving slope-wise. I do a lot of getting off the horse and dragging him down. I've noticed that if you head to the lamps there are subtle slopes dug into the sand, or natural passes that let a horse through. Now that I know what they are for, I would guess that it's one of the other people I see running around looking for horses/meat/hide/etc. Lamps are just easy to spot, so I don't think it's for a road plan. Hope this puts you at ease =)

    We are at k8, and have already made a highway from the coast there through the valley to the inner flatlands between West Harbour and Vale of Fo. Would love to join up with something larger =) Of course now that we can get on geared horses we can see how feasible this this is ... I have been putting it off.

  11. +1 More travel options! I hate arguing on the basis of fairness, because it's an unrealistic expectation (and most of us know it's not how the world works). Well that and I hate arguing. But this is such a simple thing with so little drawback (really I fail to see any - those that have been posted here have been answered better than I can already). Give P/R access to a PvP server, give Chaos a more dynamic environment, give everyone more options (as well as fair warning to new players on what they are risking - that's on all of us). And Puh-lease S Cele -> N Indy. Or something! The posted scheme leaves Cele exactly where it was before, except for a fast escape route. Such a small thing to make so many people happy. (yadda yadda about opinions being my own and not representing)
  12. I don't care about dragons. Y'all can go do your dragon thing. Too much fretting for me. (and really I tried plate and even though I look so much cooler decided studded/chain makes me look smarter in PvE). But one issue on the connection thing ... I hope it isn't just like Chaos. I mean .. Celebration having a connection outside of just Exo is cool. That's new! But idk why it can't just be moved down a notch. Make Exo the default leave instead of Deli. As far as I've experienced and heard Deli already has lag issues that other servers don't experience. Likely don't want more. If we can't have the perfect round world that would make soooo many players happy (south cele connected to north indy, P/R connected to west chaos and east xan - and really I don't know what's stopping this, it would be huge for those areas and make current assets way more viable for future players - I really don't get why this isn't already a thing) then ... oh I lost my point in writing the () bit. Round world. Doesn't hurt anyone and would be huge for current players. Seriously do this. What's the downside?

  20. Just a random thought since I dont have time to read all the responses ... but change the titles for killing the new, respawned uniques. That way the people that have the old rarer titles from the current system can have a legacy title.

  22. lamps .... sign posts ... all planted items! We need a setting / protection for this. "Allows destroying of building and fence plans as well as finished buildings and plans. Also allows lockpicking and removing lamp posts and signs." doesn't work for lamps. Would like it to work and include planted HOTA, other planted items.
