  1. All sounds good to me except for the easier long-houses to speed up raiding. Seems to me to be brought up by people who just want to show up while no one is home and have it razed by sun-up. I think the best way to bring new PvPers is to make combat exciting. To me it is akin to just standing in-front of each other until one dies. Bells and whistles man! fly out hit markers, crit notices, If I shield bash someone and the text read, dumbdumb falls to the ground, I want to see him fall to the ground! Blood, blood and more blood! Also try balancing other styles of fighting. I hate the cookie cutter, Longsword, Large Metal Shield, SoTG . Why couldn't a magic user in cloth and SoTG have the spells to stand up against a LS/LMS fighter? Variety. Why not a Master Animal tamer use tamed/trained critters. Fighters/Magic Users/Archers/Beast Masters... PvP here is just too boring and complicated. I like the proposed changes to SoTG. Would help balance other fighting methods.
  2. I must say that my favorite change was the permission tool. That was one of my biggest complaints. Now if only we can get an in-game timer to show when we can meditate, pray or preach that reads the server time, not the client time.
  3. I absolutely agree. The people want underground walls and doors. I think devs are looking at the hardest route by creating tile borders in caves then adding the wall code to it. the OP has the simplest solution. Create plantable wall / door objects with a collision mesh and permissions.

  5. Back a couple years ago, the running depths of boats was changed. Ever since then my big boats cannot enter my port because the rock is too shallow. Could you increase the depth we can lower rock with a pick to the deepest running boat?
  6. Shop signs can be muted from your settings if you wish.
  7. I would like to see more types of these Shop Signs. Would be extra nice if we had a sign for each skill category. Carpenter, Smith, Alchemist, Bow/Fletcher, Cook, The animal trainer/farmer guy... Then, with each sign, attach a looping sound pertaining to the title that can be controlled from the sign options.
  8. Doesn't have to be twitch, just something more intuitive and excitement. Fly out damage/heal markers with actual hitpoints instead of percentages, and animations that actually match what the person is doing. Better team targeting for heals and assistance communications. The combat system right now is stadn infront of the target and wait till it is dead. [22:31:32] You pierce Adolescent mountain gorilla deadly hard in the chest and damage it. Rinse and repeat.... no excitement. Better priest usage, with faster cast times and a larger mana pool.

I have 40 or 50 windows_*x*.txt files all below 640x480.
  11. When I try setting a custom screen resolution for anything below 640x480 the setting doesn't stick and defaults to 640x480. I am wanting to set the game resolution to 200x200 and lock int he window positions and sizes. I can do it for 667x699 (which is half screen for dual clients) and all the settings are saved and loaded on start up just as expected. thanks
  12. I don't give a damn if the NSA or whatever government tracks my every move on the internet... I'm more worried about the evil-Rolfs out there that can track and use my info for the devils work.
  13. If you want me to hear all the pretty sounds in the game turn off the hurricane forced wind sound. I keep the trees cleared around my deed so enemies can't hide. I haven't had my sound turned on on over a year because of this. It is ridiculous! To suggest that I cover the rock to solve the issue... then explain how I am supposed to surface mine and area without exposed rock? "Don't do it? lol"... bite me. No. Turn off that blasting wind sounds in my ears, it's as simple as adding a check box like you do for for the other sounds. ..and for all the ones who want to jump in and say, well don't live on a mountain, don't have exposed rock, don't live in an open field... shush! If you want realism then petition for all the sounds to be forced on all the time. How realistic is it to not hear footsteps, working sounds, weather, emotes, combat, doors and all the other sounds that are optional?

  15. Kingdoms grow with land control by placing guard towers. Without kingdoms, there is only alliances with no alliance specific guard towers, hence no mass land control.
  16. Join the horde... is that a kingdom? That's a superb idea. Make a post to make a server with no kingdoms and you post to join a different kingdom. I am MR and will never join a different kingdom... Unless its to spy... can I join your kingdom?
  17. Thinking more about it, catapulting can stay. As opposed to lock picking, catapulting takes time, resources and planning. The part about removing catapults was to show that raiding deeds is not a priority and this isn't about land conquering. But, having the ability to drive out a village of idiots would be pretty nice Just a FFA pvp/loot server with lock picking restrictions. I just really don't understand the objections. If this doesn't appeal to you then don't come, there is interest and some will enjoy it. I do know that I have had 3 friends try Chaos and they didn't like the kingdom wars and would have preferred a ffa style system. So what is wrong with bringing a few new prem players? We have a server with 0 pvp and 0 risk We have a pvp server with an end game and objectives to force pvp We have a kingdom based pvp server, designed around land conquering and kingdom warfare Now we just need a free-for-all pvp server
  18. BP, your mentality is based on land control and kingdom protection and conquering. I don't give a nut about controlling land. I have my deed and what I pay for. If I have resources off deed, then I fully know that they are fair game as per Freedom rules. I don't care at all about controlling large land masses and prefer a loner mentality. Chaos is a server where controlling land is a must. So what is going to happen when MR controls ALL the land? Without kingdoms it is everyone for themselves, protecting what they own. Without kingdoms people are free to pvp against anyone they choose without some stupid hunted flag. Without kingdoms, there is no end game. Without kingdoms there is freedom. Freedom to relocate to where ever you wish, freedom to choose your friends and freedom from the silly politics plaguing large kingdoms. Without kingdoms there is no land controlling or kingdom guard towers. Everyone can travel where they wish, when they wish (with the constant fear of meeting a PKer) Without kingdoms there is no KvK bs - each crying that the other side cheats or Rolf favors one kingdom over the other. This is a different style of play. Instead of being stuck in a kingdom with some people you don't like we would have the freedom to form alliances and make friends. If you don't like the alliance members, break the alliance and you don't have to worry about getting guard whacked by every tower. The AOE spells can simply be modified to apply to alliance and villagers. BP, just because you can't think past kingdom warfare don't tell me my thought process is flawed. Also, this isn't about balance and a fresh new land-rush where everyone starts at 0. Just open the server and tell us how to get there and we will do the rest. Thinking about the size and resources, just open up a small map and see how it goes. If it fills open a bigger one. The only problems I foresee are the lock pickers and AOE spells. Again AOE can be solved by modifying it to villagers and/or alliance members. Lock picking can be solved by restricting it to only being allowed if the token has been drained.
  19. Because Kingdom wars suck and is easy to fix. Just create a new server with no kingdoms and pvp.
  20. Yes BP I was there for that mess. I, along with 5 others were the only ones on Wild for days on end. I am NOT talking about Alliance wars. I am talking about full pvp with NO alliances or kingdoms. People can form alliances if they wish but NO kingdoms. Some like the Kingdom wars and being part of a Kingdom. Some don't like PvP. Some don't want to be in a Kingdom (anymore) but want to live on a pvp server. AOE spells are a problem but with 1v1 pvp you dont use spells anyway. This server would not see 50v50 battles anyway. 1v1 mostly if at all. We could even get rid of catapulting all-together for all I care. This isn't about group warfare and conquering lands. It's about living on a Freedom style PvE server where if someone pisses me off, or is cutting down all my young trees, I can remove them from my lands.
  21. You guys are putting too much thought into this. All I want is a full pvp/loot server with no kingdom wars or templates. Let us build and protect our stuff. The only thing that may need to change is lockpicking. Possibly make it like we did for destroying reenforced cave walls. Can't lockpick until the token has been breeched. Other than that it's a free-for-all pvp server. This isn't an attempt to increase pvp, In-fact I would guess that very little pvp will take place... but the threat is always there. I don't care if I ever pvp, I hate pvp. I get too frazzled to pvp and avoid it at all costs... I hate living in a carebear world even more though. There is no excitement on a non-pvp server. The bigger the better. Again, I hate teeny tiny maps. It is more immersible to me if it will take a day or 2 of travel to get from 1 end to the other. Again, this isn't about finding pvp, its about living in the game with the threat of pvp.
  22. I am going to both agree and disagree. I agree that PvP needs a ton of work from the bottom up. Mechanics and balance.......... No dispute there. I disagree with the rest. Again this is a totally different style of game play. Both Wild and Epic force PvP through game objectives. Chaos has hard lined battle zones where most of the PvP takes place. If you live too far away from the action you don't see the action. My proposal is to open a no rules form of Wurm. Same Freedom rules with full pvp allowed. No story lines, no kingdoms, no God restrictions. Just a freedom server where I can kill griefers, or become a PKer or hunt down PKers as I wish.
  23. Again I don't want a server where the goal is to raid and/or win a war. I just want a server with full pvp/loot. A free-for-all map with no rules. It wouldn't hurt anything, no rule changes for other server just a new place for a new style of play and new types of players.
