  1. Would you take 5s for both lumps of seryll, both lumps of adamantine, and the three oil of the armorsmiths? If so COD to Midgaar please :)
  2. What inspires me? A lot. First and foremost, community. I live in the friendly, densely populated village of Eden. Eden is located in the friendly, densely populated island of Newspring on Xanadu. I am highly inspired by my friends and neighbors! However, in the back of the friendly little town, is something... dark. As one gets closer, the eerie feeling of dread starts to develop. What inspires me? Atmosphere. As you enter the premise, you can hear an ominous chittering sound, as if a bunch of giant, angry scorpions are sensing a meal. You spot in the front yard, an enchanted oak tree that looks like it would be a peaceful place to rest... if you are a vampire. What inspires me? Custom designed themes. Inside this building, you start to see the source of the hungry, creepy sounds you could hear outside. What inspires me? Breeding an army of scary champion creatures worthy of Vlad Dracula himself. On the roof, you can find the workstations where the lamps, lights, weapons, armor, tools, and everything else is made -- all from the red metal of Seris, seryll. What inspires me? Choices. So... what inspires me? Freedom. Where I get to be Count Midgaar and build a giant black castle, breed a monster army inside of it, and show it off to everyone. Pictures really don't do it justice. Plus much is left out. The ramps lead all the way to the top, easy wagon access. From the top floor of the back tower (floor 7) is a bridge leading to the mountain behind me, where I have a flat area high up with my farm and the best view in Eden: What inspires me? Right now, a supreme strange bone!
  3. How much for Necklace of Protection?
  4. If I'm deciphering your post correctly, then yes, I understand that when dying works correctly it should mix the color of the dye with the base color, in this case red. However, the part that has me confused, is that dye appears to work correctly on the Seryll Great Helm, but not the rest of Seryll armor. Retrograde said that dye is not meant to work on Seryll, due to the custom texture it uses, and that is intended behavior. However, if that is the case, then the fact that it does work on one piece of Seryll armor (the helm) but not on the rest, appears to be a bug. Unless of course the devs/artists intended only one piece to be dye-able but not the rest. Then there's also the fact that dye actually works on the rest of the Seryll suit, it just doesn't show. If I activate dye and right click my Seryll breastplace, I get the option to Paint it with the dye. If the breastplate is not intended to be dye-able, I should not have the option to do so, nor should it work correctly on the Helm. Further, when I place my dyed Seryll suit on a table or on the ground, it shows up as the pure color of the dye, not a mixture of red + dye, nor straight red like when worn. Retrograde explained that this is because it's not using the Seryll model when seryll armor is placed anywhere. Which itself seems like another bug, as it seems to me that Seryll armor should look like Seryll armor when put on a table. So as far as I can tell from my experiments and the information Retrograde provided (thank you, by the way!), there seems to be two or three different bugs operating here. The first is that one piece of seryll plate armor shows dye correctly and the rest does not (so either the helm is bugged and should not show dye, or the rest of the suit is bugged and should). The second bug is that Seryll plate does not show up as Seryll plate when placed/dropped, causing extra weird effects when it's been dyed. The third is that if Seryll plate is not meant to be able to be dyed, the option to do so (and waste dye) should not be available. Thank you all for your time and attention!
  5. So dye is meant to be ineffective on Seryll armor? Yet, it works on the great helm. So if dye is meant to be ineffective, it would seem like it working on the helm is a bug. Or is the inconsistency the intended behavior?
  6. Dyed a Seryll Great Helm with bright green 83ql dye. When worn, the helm appears to me and others as a very very dark green, almost black, as though the original red color mixes with the green dye. When dropped or placed, it appears to me and others to be bright green, as though the original red color was overridden with the dye. Dyed the rest of my Seryll plate armor (BP Legs Gauntlets Boots and Sleeves) with the same dye. All of it shows regular red when worn, as though the dye wasn't even there. All of it shows as bright green when dropped or placed, as though the original color had been overridden by the dye. Clearly something about this scenario is wrong. Thank you for your attention.
  7. Well, I tried to switch to the closed source binaries but it appears my video card is too old and is no longer supported by anything but the open source drivers. So I bought a new nvidia card and all is well. Thanks for the help.
  8. Your guess is absolutely correct. I will try the binary blob and get back to you. Shame though, I prefer the general stability of the open source radeon driver.
  9. Not sure if this is on topic as it began with today's update but: I tried to change pretty much every setting there was, one at a time, nothing helped. Your patch broke my wurm Gentoo Linux 64-bit using Oracle Java 8 latest version. Dell Optiplex 755 Stock Intel Core 2 vPro CPU @ 3GHz ATI Radeon HD 2400 Tried all kinds of settings, could not find one that altered this issue at all, including every compatibility setting in the tab.
  10. The idea is not that you can't keep horses alive because PvP is so intense. The idea is that if you try to "hoard" 1000 horses on a PvP server, some dickhead from an enemy kingdom is going to show up and slaughter them all one day. This happens all the time and the dickhead isn't always from an enemy kingdom either. On top of that, if I choose to PvP, i have to first select one or two good horses, a suit of enchanted plate, a good sword and shield, bow and arrows, etc etc etc. Everything I bring is unlikely to come back with me, especially the two horses. The two horses are pretty much guaranteed to die in the battle. No amount of barding, protection, strategy, or whatever else prevents this, as horses are almost always targeted before players in PvP fights. in a 2v2 PvP battle, even if NOBODY DIES, chances are four horse corpses are left behind. See the problem?
  11. I think all traders should be refunded or turned into merchants and instead all "kings coffers" money gets split evenly and distributed to creatures. Wouldn't it do wonders for the economy if noobs got a few iron coins every kill like in most RPGs? I'd have it scale the payout depending on the FS of the creature and contents of kings coffers, of course, but I say bring on monster hunting as an employment path!
  12. Yeah man, clearly Rolf's motivation for these changes was 100% based on greed. He just wants money. That's why the price of deeding tiles was cut in half. And many of us can now reduce deed size thanks to one-way expansion, saving even more money than the half off. That greedy SOB, making deeds cheaper and stuff. I think we should boycott this game until Rolf returns the prices back where they were and stops trying to save us silvers on deed upkeep like the greedy dev he is.
  13. Ship Type

I agree with the guy that said build a knarr. First thing I ever did in this game was build a Corbita from scratch, and hours of pushing it off a canal later, I sold it before even finishing her maiden voyage and got a small sailboat instead and never looked back. What a piece of junk. Later I got a Knarr and that was better than a sailboat and holds 100 rafts full of stuff, making it the perfect boat in Wurm. I've used all the ships in wurm by now rather extensively, and still my advice to you to avoid regret is to build a knarr before any other boat.
  14. Keep CA's, they are helpful. But stop the hardline attitude over CA HELP. If the discussion is helpful to any newbies or players, and by helpful I mean it offers them information they might not be aware of about the mechanics or techniques of Wurm, then please just goddamn let it continue without derailing your own CA HELP channel with unhelpful bullcrap by taking the time to berate ME for putting my Platesmithing on pause to explain how Demise spells work or something. So it sounds a bit "conversationey". Is that causing you physical pain? Are other questions getting skipped over with all the spam? Is anyone being directly insulted? Is the intent to troll, give bad info, or cause problems? If you can't answer yes to any of these, yet still feel the need to verbally jump on MY ###### for helping... you don't deserve that CA tag. CA should not have the ability to tell people to take offtopic conversation elsewhere. Instead, they should have the responsibility to determine if the ongoing conversation is helpful and informative to newbies, or if it's causing any problems. If it is not helpful or informative or directly answering a question, OR if it is causing problems with others trying to get help, THEN (and ONLY then) should the CA have the responsibility to step in and redirect the conversation either to another room or to a more helpful or informative topic. Also, if the CA HELP room has been dead for awhile, and someone comes in and goes "What does a champion troll look like?". and one person posts a link to a picture of a champion troll, and a second person says "Exactly like your mother", do you really need to jump in the room and take it further off topic by going "Second Person, humor does not belong in CA HELP, please take it to KCHAT"?? Clearly it was a one-liner, made at a time when nobody's question was in danger of being missed entirely due to spam. And if it IS during a busy time, even MORE reason for the CA not to add to the CA HELP spam by berating a player. Instead, if it seems like it might happen often or in a disrupting manner, PM the player and ask them to stop. The vast majority will, and will be further impressed by the respectful manner in which they were asked to cease, rather than being called out in public for "going offtopic" ignoring that calling the player out, within that same channel, is also "offtopic" . All that said, we have some great CA on Desertion. There was one in particular I thought was a bad apple when I first started playing, but I haven't seen that person in over a year and a half so apparently that bad apple was removed a long time ago and it's been pretty smooth since then. I only tend to see Elrohiir and Toeol in the CA HELP channel with the CA tag anymore, but I find them both to be wonderful at their roles, and good examples for why I believe the CA position still serves its purpose rather well. Take away our MRH CA's and not only will the number of answered questions be cut in half or worse, but on top of that, many questions (especially with Epic PvP) are of a nature that should not be asked in public chat, and newbies don't know who to PM until they see that CA name in the CA HELP channel. So bottom line. Keep the CA's, just ditch with the stupid "Q&A ONLY" rules in the CA HELP channel, and replace with something more reasonable like "helpful and/or informative discussion ONLY, also jokes that Koreal finds funny are OK".
  15. Yeah because when somebody somewhere else gets something nice that doesn't hurt or affect you and your gameplay, the correct response is to ragequit.
  16. I'm no Freedom player so take this with a grain of salt, but it seems to me the reason highways work okay on Epic is because majority rules. If the majority of people living in an area want that road left alone, griefing it will get you hunted and killed, potentially on repeat. But you don't need the violence, on Freedom can't you just have it majority rules? Like, everyone gets to right click any highway within 5-10 tiles of a deed they belong to and "Vote to keep". Anyone can also "Vote to destroy", and only a highway with a higher "vote to destroy" count can be destroyed. Having a higher Destroy count does not destroy the highway, only removes the "indestructible" protection. just a thought
  17. Our rules have been updated! We now allow recruits from the JK and the Kingdom of Sol! Switch sides now before you find yourself on the losing side! Exclamation point!
  18. Client hack bans

why? if I can't sail my character from desertion to serenity to raid my JK brother's deed, because we have the same IP and thus might be spai, I would expect to be banned as well if my brother was banned for hacking. Not that I have a JK brother, just an example, but if I did he'd also have troubles trying to make posts in the epic section. I'm all for IP banning, so long as you ban the character caught hacking and the IP it was accessed from, but not other characters accessed from the same IP. This way if my brother gets banned for hacking, I can use a proxy and still play. This gives hackers extra chances (via proxy) but they could do the same thing with alts (only access the hacking alt via proxy) anyway. Whatever, in an ideal world all activity would be completely recorded for full easy review at any time. It's pretty easy to see who's hacking if you watch their screen. Not the whole computer screen, but what they see in Wurm. This is how my server catches cheaters in counter-strike, every player's perspective is recorded and then automatically deleted at the end of the following match if no complaints or accusations are lodged, and if cheating is suspected, the videos are automatically saved for review. In a game the size of Wurm though, the recording would probably have to be done on the client, fraps-style, which opens the door to cheaters possibly finding a way around it. Probably no perfect solution, but as long as every accusation is investigated and all those reasonably certain to be cheating are banned without mercy, this shouldn't become too big of an issue.
  19. Maps

    <--------- Interested. (Epic player)
  20. Client hack bans

I hope these bannings include all Macro users or anyone that uses third party programs to automate actions in Wurm. Anyone that does memory editing, speed changing, map revealing, packet sniffing, client hexing, etc etc etc. BAN THEM ALL FOR GOOD. Thank you
  21. The majority of us are currently MR, and are allied with MRE. This will continue until we consider ourselves ready for independent PvP on Elevation. Once at that point, we will discuss other options for greater autonomy such as PMK or changing kingdoms. The final decision will rest with the Brothers of the Company. And for the moment we will not accept contracts against our allies, MRE. We would consider contracts against other MR, but be warned that we currently charge a premium for this, and further, we can only accept the contract if enough Brothers are interested in signing up for it. As most of our Brothers come from MRH, it would be more difficult to convince enough of them to sign up for the contract to be taken on. Of course, money talks... If you want to offer an extreme amount for us to take on an MR deed (that we are not directly allied with) you might find that enough Brothers are of the "Paycheck over Politics" mindset to pull it off.
