  1. The experience of PVPing should be enough reward for those that wish to PVP. They should not need other incentives. So there is no reason to not give moon metals to Freedom Isles. IF the experience of PVPing is not enough reward to keep PVPers. THEN Rolf needs to look at PVP, and fix it so that it is. PVPers already enjoy many benefits over any Freedom Isles person. They have kingdom titles, and they have access to artifacts. Some of the artifacts are not weapons and produce other effects not related to PVP. You also get the bonus of trading/stacking affinities. I will state again. PVP should be the reward for living on a PVP server. IF that is not enough. Then the system is flawed, and the fault clearly lies in the PVP system.
  2. It should be chance on digging not mining. Mining already has gems. You might as well give something to digging. These are 'moon' metals. So it is not beyond the possibly that meteors brought small amounts of it down on planet Wurm. Would be even nicer to make it like getting source crystals. You get a fragment you gotta bust with a hammer to open.
  3. I am not really speaking to large scale combat. It is just the fact that if you do not like the few groups that PVP. You are left with no real ability to PVP in any meaningful way. The few PVP cliques that run together vary from okay/irritating to be around to damn near toxic.
  4. I played on Epic for a good while. The main reason I do not put more time in there is the community. There are just a few groups of PVPers, and those groups tend to change names/kingdoms. The game really just does not have the player base needed to allow any enjoyment for me personally. If you do not like these few set groups. Then you are basically out of luck to PVP in any real sense at a kingdom level.
  5. http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/101014-hey-we-need-hay/?hl=+hay%20+bales Been suggested hundred of times. You might wish to do a quick search before posting suggestions.
  6. Longspears are very nice. You can grind weaponsmithing while being a passenger on a boat then as well. This might be a consideration if you plan many Xanadu commutes.
  7. Horses with good gear go realistic speeds if not over. So realism is not a good barometer. Increasing speeds also greatly effects PVP. So I vote a... -1
  8. 2 small metal COD to Plebian
  9. You could make 3 different types of crossbows, hunting crossbow, heavy crossbow and arbalests. The hunting crossbow could be just wood. The heavy crossbow could be made with steel and wood. The arbalest could be made with wood, steel(larger amount) and hooks. They could basically be the ranges of short, med and longbow respectively.
  10. I always think crossbows would be a nice option. As long the ones that can penetrate armor cannot be loaded from horseback. Then they should be fine.
  11. 68ql shortsword 91nimb 57LT 76coc - 2.8s COD to Plebian
  12. You could always allow priests to craft all they want, but just make production be like a free account. All skills/items effectively capped at 20 and have no skillgain on any actions outside of priest abilities now. This would allow you to build some stuff if you need it, and it would still have pretty strong penalties.
  13. Yeah. I was talking about plain ole studded leather. I see quite a few PVE folks running around in it while hunting etc. Drakehide should likely go with high fire resists.
  14. I would be all for keeping studded leather as the go to for PVE needs. It would be nice if it had built in fire/frost/acid protections. You could then up chains damage reduction from physical attacks, and it gives chain and studded a bit more character than they have now.
  15. It sounds like a great idea. I would even go so far as to say the new metals like Ada and glimmersteel can only be forged in these larger furnaces. The only negative I see that will be brought up is the fact it might make some noobs not be able to sell bulk goods. I think as long as it doesn't make bricks or planks. Then most of the naysayers will be fine with the larger structures. I personally would be fine with a large structure like a kiln that made bricks in bulk amounts, and I would love a sawmill that mass produced planks. But I know a fair number of folks think these things would remove the bulk market from the noobs somehow.
  16. You do realize that IF you open home servers to raiding just like Elevation. All the deeds there will just become like the uber fortresses on the top of a mountain with 250+ slope dirt walls right? There will be no where for any one new to start at all. The false security that the home servers offer increases PVP more than it hurts it. It is a false security because the 'cr nerf' doesn't really do that much to stop a determined raid. Those new folks will take a chance and ride out with the older vets on a home server because they feel the CR nerf may make them actually useful in defense. Wurm is already extremely hard on a new person starting out. If they join with some established folks. Then they get equipped with armor/weapons/tools. That is worth an extreme amount in their minds. The only thing they can really help with on a deed with established decently skilled people is the most monotonous and horrible tasks in Wurm(making bricks/mortar/planks/farming etc). If they roll out by themselves or with a group of friends all starting new. Then they can make only the most feeble of defensive structures, and can look forward to months of grinding to produce a defensive structure/weapons/tools/armor to be able to defend it. The CR nerf doesn't realistically help in either of the scenarios I pointed out above. The IDEA of the CR nerf helps an immense amount to both of these scenarios. It makes someone think that they can at least help because they have some built in game mechanic giving them an advantage. The CR nerf at its heart is simply meant to be Epic's 'Fake it till you make it'. It lets new people be more willing to come out and PVP because they have a perceived advantage. You take away this perceived advantage, and you simply get Elevation in all of its built up stagnated glory. You get massive built up deeds in horribly inaccessible locations. Most folks NEED that perceived notion of safety even if it means nothing realistically in the end. I would prefer to fight a CR nerf than see all of Epic become just a few huge deeds in near inaccessible to assault areas.
  17. Yeah. We need to bring these 'opportunities' to them. Rather they want them or not.
  18. My parents live off the grid. That is more from location than actual want to live off grid. They do have satellite TV and Sat internet. So maybe they are not 'off grid' correctly.
  19. It is about time those home server people learned about real PVP! /raises his torch and pitchfork
  20. 1. It would make it easier to keep animals fed in pens for longer periods without having to do daily boring replanting of crops etc. 2. The animal ratio on deed already stops animal hoarding. If you are on a PVP the whole sale slaughter of horses in most PVP encounters stops animal hoarding. 3. Animal ratio on deed already covers this effect for animal hoarding. 4. There is no real need for negative effects. I do not know if I have stressed this enough. The animal ratio on deed stops animal hoarding problems. If the animals are stored off deed they are at risk for diseases/miscarriage/being killed. 5. If you plant hay you get at least 1 hay bundle per tile. This feeds an animal for close to a week. If I harvest a tile of grain I get seeds. Each seed MIGHT feed one horse for half a day. Hay basically lets me use the field for animal feed at the cost of losing production of people food. I can raise hay for a few weeks/days and BSB them for long term storage. You then get to convert the field to people food production. We have FSBs for the long term storage of people food. So I do not have to harvest and make food every few days for myself. We are just doing the same for animals. I simply cook for myself every few days pulling food from the FSB. If I have hay I just pull a bundle from the BSB every few days and slap it in the hay feeder. All hay and its storage does is allow me to plan my time for animal upkeep needs INSTEAD of it being a daily chore. It lets us approach it in the same manner as people food. It would also let us store animals inside a barn. Which would be nice for expensive animals(like highly bred warhorses in gear).
  21. Well... I have seen the swather grab up and windrow baby deer, crows, hawks, owls, skunks(not a fun day to ride the swather) coyotes and a few turkeys. So I would say hay eats just about anything that moves in the field.
  22. I believe it means 'Just (Fudging) Do It' Thanks for the compliment. I grew up on a ranch so I have fed a few real bales of hay. I figured hay feeders were nothing new, and if you search you can find some shown in medieval periods. If you just drop hay on the ground the animals tend to bed/poop/pee all over it.
  23. Just make a new crop that is meant to be hay. You use a scythe to harvest, and the produce of the harvest is a hay bundle. You can slap the hay bundles in a BSB to save for later. It should be quite bulky and perhaps only 100 bundles per BSB. You can then drop the bundle in a hay feeder made with carpentry. It feeds one grazing animal for about a week per bundle. You can only place one hay feeder per tile inside houses OR outside. You can just throw a bundle out on the ground, but the hay feeder slows the decay of the bundle. It fixes all the problems with an elegant solution that adds an authentic look if you want to make a barn. P.S. They are bundles of hay NOT bales. You do not get bales of hay until modern industrial farming.
